This week, on the Global Research News Hour, with politicians everywhere calling for increased spending on the military and we now standing at the cusp of an even larger Middle East war about to break out soon we are trying to assess where we may be headed. In our first half hour, we have a talk with Ken Stone of the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War about his group's appeals for peace during the federal election. Then in our second half hour, Larry Johnson, former CIA officer and intelligence analyst, offers his thoughts about the tensions between the US and Iran finally exploding into a major military attack in the not too distant future.
This week, on the Global Research News Hour, with tensions soaring lately over the decision by outgoing president Biden to allow Ukraine to fire ATACMS missiles into the territory of its neighbours, we are spending time discussing the latest stage of the conflict which could make NATO a direct combatant in the Russia-Ukraine war and lead to World War III. For most of the show, we are joined by military veteran turned peace activist Scott Ritter to tell us about some of the history of the war extending way before February 2022, the latest updates, and his involvement with Operation Dawn. Toward the end of the show, we hear from Hamilton based peace activist Ken Stone about plans to counter NATO during the group's meeting in Montreal, Quebec this coming weekend.

This week on a dynamic episode of the global Research News Hour we are turning our attention to the explosion of all peace between Israel and Gaza following the devastating attack by Hamas on Israeli citizens and the show of support from world leaders, from the US, Canada, France and elsewhere giving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu moral support to not only inflict violence on Palestinians, but also to wage genocide on the population greater than any level since the creation of the Israeli State in 1948. In our first half hour, Canadian activists Yves Engler and Ken Stone speak up about the role of the Canadian government and about protests in Hamilton affecting the left wing New Democratic Party. In our second half hour, we hear from Journalist Rob Inlakesh about the many unverified and plausibly incorrect stories in Israel and Gaza circulating on mainstream and social media. The guys interview Bradley Grace about his love of Diplomacy. Plus they discuss a great new variant devised on a mini bus in rural Thailand and their online games. Intro The guys introduce themselves, the bar and their drinks for the evening (0 mins 10 secs) They discuss what life's like now back in Australia, instead of their super chill selves in Thailand. Ken talks about some of the places he visited in Thailand after Kanchanaburi (4 mins 30 secs) Interview with Bradley Grace They start introducting the interview for today's episode with Bradley Grace. Gavin flags they had tech issues recording the interview, so apologies there's a small break and then another 30 mins of the interview didn't record for some reason (8 mins 45 secs) Ken begins the interview and asks Bradley about how did he come to WDC. Bradley also discusses how he first got into Diplomacy (11 mins 30 secs) For some reason Zoom crapped itself so soon in the interview, but then we come back (14 mins 15 secs) Bradley talks about his virtual Diplomacy championship top board experience and his stories on gameplay (16 mins 45 secs) He talks about his main lesson: be 10% less aggressive (21 mins 30 secs) Bradley and Ken talk about their discussions from watching the WDC shadow top board. Gavin flags our next Patreon episode has a great WDC discussion recorded involving Chris Brand, Jamal and Bradley (37 mins) A great new variant? On the way back from Erawan Falls in Thailand on a mini bus, Gavin and Ken came up with the idea for a fantastic new variant, an alternate history variant set during the Spanish-American War, where a broader war occurs including Britain, France, Holland and Portugal. The variant involves conflict across 4 diffent theaters of war and different power dynamics across the quadrants to create balance across the board (43 mins 15 secs) Around the grounds Ken discusses a couple of the few games he's in at the moment (1 hr 4 mins) Gavin talks about two games he drew in - an Ancient Mediterranean game and an Imperial game (1 hr 6 mins) He then discusses an American Conflict game he was eliminated in (1 hr 12 mins 30 secs) They talk about trying to get a face to face game happening locally. This week on the Global Research News Hour, we return to the situation in Ukraine now approaching a year and a half in length. People around the world are calling for an end to the conflict. But what tools are at hand to break this chain of violence? We will discuss the topic of peace in Ukraine with two sets of guests. In our first half hour we will talk to Ken Stone and Glenn Michalchuk of the Canada-Wide Peace and Justice Network about the state of their movement in Canada and about coming projects planned for the Global Week of Action to end the war in Ukraine from October 1st to October 8th. Then in our second half hour, we have a special discussion with the conscientious objector and pacifist in Ukraine, Yurii Sheliazhenko about how and why he is under house arrest for his position against the war even though he condemns the aggression by Russia.
Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded September 20th, 2023 Earlier this year, Britain decided to include depleted uranium shells with its deliveries of their Challenger II tanks gifted to Ukraine. Russia charged the so-called CHARM3 munitions are in effect "dirty bombs" and would decision effectively "nuclearized" the war there. DU munitions were first used in the Gulf War of 1991, again in the Former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and Syria. The deleterious, long-term effects of DU is well documented, yet still contested by NATO and America, who recently announced it too would send depleted uranium weaponry to Ukraine. Ken Stone is an activist and author working for peace with the Syria Support Movement International and Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War. His book, 'Defiant Syria: Dispatches from the Second International Tour of Peace to Syria' is a compilation of his dispatches from the Second International Tour of Peace which visited Syria from April 12-18, 2016. Welcome to Gorilla Radio recorded March 8th, 2023. March 20th marks the twentieth anniversary of America's second invasion of Iraq. On this special edition of the Global Research News Hour, we will not only point to the similarities and differences between the major military offensives past and present, but we will also highlight the personal recollections of host and producer Michael Welch, and his commitment then and now to put an end to war through the magic of radio informed antiwar activism. This marks a special fund-raising episode for the show and the radio station broadcasting it. This program features a clip from a show in the past year. There will be a live interview with Ken Stone of the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War who is supporting this weekend's special actions in Canada to bring the War in Ukraine to an end, as well as a panel discussion connecting the dots between the Ukraine War and other U.S./NATO imperialist agendas all over West Asia. It will also broadcast an interview with one of four Indigenous chiefs in Ontario signing a Mutual Cooperation Agreement to defend their territory from mining exploration without their consent.
Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded January 22 & 28th, 2023. More than two years after BC's former premier, John Horgan's re-election promise to implement the recommendations of his own government's Old Growth Strategy Review panel it's business as usual in the woods. While some of the OGSR's 14 point plan was implemented, big trees are still falling and the forests are in peril. The NDP also, after Horgan's snap election win, ceded policing authority to deal with old growth forest defenders near the capital to the federal RCMP, whose paramilitary tactics and brutality at the Fairy Creek encampments elicited international expressions of disgust and condemnation. Now, a grand manifestation of First Nations, conservation organizations, ecological agencies, and citizens concerned about the loss of an irreplaceable biological legacy is planned to surround the seat of government to state demands for policy change in more fervent language. This week, on the Global Research News Hour, we are exploring the prospect that NATO may today actually be a malevolent force on the global stage and that Canada and the world should consider abandoning it. In our first half hour, Rick Rozoff, a long time geopolitical analyst and critic of NATO offers his perspectives on the nature of the trans-national beast and where it may be headed in the future. This is followed by an interview with lawyer, journalist and activist Dimitri Lascaris on the role Canada could be playing as an advocate for peace outside of NATO. We finish off the program with anti-war activist Ken Stone of the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War talking about a recent action his group organized in the city outside the building where Prime Minister Trudeau and his Cabinet were meeting.

What can Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau teach use about leadership today? Plenty, according to professor and author Bob Gross, the leading authority on the US Transcendentalist Movement. In this fascinating discussion with journalist Ken Stone, you'll discover parallels between the 19th century and today. Hint: the forces that created the millenials are not so different from what the US was facing nearly 200 years ago.

Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded September 3rd, 2022 In Serbia last week the drought-stricken Danube revealed the scuttled hulls of Hitler's Black Sea fleet, sunk in hopes of slowing the Soviet advance west. Seventy-eight years later the potentially explosive hulks serve the perfect metaphor for both an increasingly volatile political situation in the "Western Balkans", and as low-water mark in European East-West relations. James Bissett is a former Canadian Ambassador whose tenure in Yugoslavia coincided with its 1991 dissolution. At century's end, he was one of the very few government insiders to oppose NATO's 78 day bombardment of Serbia in the name of "humanitarian intervention." James Bissett in the first half. And; Europe's economy has fallen victim to the war in Ukraine, and the destructive effects will likely supersede the financial sector before it's done. The question begging to be asked now is whether that - highly predictable - outcome was merely collateral, or intentional. Ken Stone is an executive member of both the Syria Solidarity Movement and Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War, who fought four-square the incarceration of Huawei executive, Meng Wanzhou, extradition efforts by the United States, and stand opposed to the odious AUKUS military pact threatening war with China in the Pacific. The Coalition's website current features two excellent articles, by Moon of Alabama and economist Michael Hudson. Ken Stone and addressing the aspect of the Ukraine war remaining sotto voce in the imperial presses, "Cui Bono?" in the second half. We often look for healing from sources outside of ourselves but we must not forget that the divine in us has the power to heal. The solution is within. Living in that present moment allows us to be present. It helps us get over the “what if”s and other fears that hinder us from stepping into our true spiritual identities. We will eventually come to our wholeness, whether we step into the illusion of separation further or really open up into our whole selves. It is an opportunity to remember and experience who we truly are. “There is an experience of absolute embodied wholeness that is always available. It's who we all are. The experience that isn't that, it's just the opening to that experience of wholeness.” — Ken StoneConnect with Ken Stone:Website: https://kenwstone.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/energy_workerYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKXH001ZKJ9TO5JNK7ER6_QLinked In: http://www.linkedin.com/in/kenwstoneFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ken.stone.spiritual.teacherConnect with Susan Kennard:Awaken the Light Within FREE VIDEO COURSETwitter: @susankennardFacebook: Susan Kennard - Expand Your Consciousness, Sparkle to SuccessWebsite: SusanKennard.co.ukLinkedIn: Susan KennardEmail: Susan@SusanKennard.co.ukReach out to find the program for you!Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine TallaAudio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded May 28th, 2022 In early May, Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel returned the diplomatic favour, hosting his Mexican counterpart, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in Havana. The two signed various agreements tying the two nations closer, while AMLO used the opportunity to further criticize historical US foreign policy in the hemisphere, reminisce about Mexican support for Castro and the Cuban revolution, and to call for the lifting of the decades-long blockade against Mexico's "sister nation." None of this likely pleases the United States, but worse still for the Biden administration is Obrador's hardly veiled threat to boycott next week's Summit of the Americas confab in Los Angeles. Tim Boultbee is a long-time activist for Latin American human and democratic rights. From Ronald Reagan's Dirty Wars against the people of Nicaragua and El Salvador to the financial annexation of Mexico by means of the NAFTA agreement he has borne witness as an international observer at the front lines of the fight for justice. Tim is currently a member of CASC, the Victoria Central America Support Committee, assisted the Building Bridges Human Rights Project in Chiapas, and worked to raise funds for the Fray Bartolome Human Rights Center in San Cristobal. Tim Boultbee in the first half. And; just as Canada has supported US belligerence in Latin America, (earning for the trouble exclusion from CELAC, the organization likely to determine the cultural, political, and economic future of the hemisphere) the current administration too has gone along with its larger neighbour's campaign to isolate China. The lengths Trudeau's government is willing to go to please Uncle Sam was made painfully obvious in its two-plus years contralegal persecution of Huawei executive, Meng Wanzhou. Now, it has announced the exclusion of Huawei from this country's 5G communications network development. Ken Stone is a long-time antiwar activist whose served as an executive member of both the Syria Solidarity Movement and Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War. Ken and the Coalition fought tooth and nail against the incarceration of Meng Wanzhou and extradition efforts by the United States, and they've opposed the odious AUKUS military pact threatening war with China in the Pacific. The danger AUKUS presents to World peace ramped up last fall with the deal to provide nuclear powered submarines to Australia, and more lately with the announced rapid development of hypersonic missile technology and expanded electronic warfare aimed at the People's Republic. Ken Stone on Huawei in Canada, and AUKUS going over the top in the Pacific in the second half. But first, Tim Boultbee and Biden's Summit of the Americas proving a low point in hemispheric interrelations. Chris Cook has hosted Gorilla Radio since 1999. This week, on the Global Research News Hour, as the Russian invasion into Ukraine enters its third month, we focus on the war from a Canadian angle. First we hear from Yuri Sheliazhenko a journalist, blogger, human rights defender and pacifist based in Ukraine about his position against the violent fight back against Russia. Then we hear from Glen Michalchuk, chair of Peace Alliance Winnipeg, about the different degrees of intervention that take people away from peace in the country. Then our final speaker is Ken Stone of the Hamilton Coalition to stop the war outlining his campaign against a man championing a website which he says violates the Canadian Foreign Enlistment Act in reference to serving militarily for the Ukrainians in the present conflict and the Canadian government turning a blind eye to it.
Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded April 9th, 2022. The Trudeau administration has again demonstrated the elasticity of its commitment to the "international rules-based order" extends too to domestic jurisprudence. This time, the federal Liberals are turning a blind eye to the blatant recruitment of Canadians to fight in Ukraine. This flies in the face of the Foreign Enlistment Act, which clearly specifies those engaging in such activities are breaking the law, but as of this writing no arrests have been made or charges filed. Ken Stone is a long-time antiwar activist whose served as an executive member of both the Syria Solidarity Movement and Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War. Ken and the Coalition have released the statement on the government's latest failure to uphold the law, ‘Illegal Recruitment of Canadians for War in Ukraine'. Ken Stone in the first half. And; as British Columbia's helicopter-assisted wolf culling season picks up, questions again are being raised about both the efficacy of the program and veracity of its claim to be necessary for saving the endangered Northern Caribou. Eddie Petrashyn is an East Kootenay conservationist with Wildsight, an organization working to quote, "protect biodiversity and encourage sustainable communities in Canada's Columbia and Rocky Mountain regions". Eddie's investigation into BC government-approved forestry practices in the Wood River basin, north of Revelstoke challenge the logic behind the BC NDP's conservation practices. Eddie Petrashyn and saving northern caribou habitat in the second half. But first, Ken Stone and Canada's would-be foreign legionnaires. This week on the global research News Hour, with the election behind us now, we'll plan to take a closer look at the broader patterns facing the country that got little attention in the campaign. We will take a look at Canadian foreign policy with foreign policy critic and activist Yves Engler. We will have a short discussion on the Meng Wanzhou situation with Ken Stone of the Hamilton Coalition to stop the War, and in our final half hour, we are joined by Matthew Ehret , Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Patriot Review who will discuss with us how the political direction of the party that won, the LIBERALS, saw its patterns shift in a fundamentally different direction during the latter half of the 20th century.
In this interview, Ken Stone of Chicago Theological Seminary and author of Practicing Safer Texts (2005) describes how he came to destabilize the heteronormative Biblical creation stories through using the theories of Monique Wittig and Judith Butler. This episode connects with his “The Garden of Eden and the Heterosexual Contract,” in Bodily Citations, ed. Ellen T. Armour and Susan M. St. Ville (New York: Columbia University Press, 2006), 48-70.
In this edition of the Global Research News Hour we feature an exclusive interview with the writer, geopolitical analyst and investigative journalist Pepe Escobar on some of the more prominent conflicts in the world and on the changes resulting from the novelties of COVID and growing ties among US rivals. We also quiz Ken Stone of Hamilton Coalition to Stop the war about the group's activities and priorities at present.
STN board member Ken Stone joins the podcast this month to share his tips and suggestions for a more successful contest and convention experience!
With the Canadian federal election just days away, the Global Research News Hour tackles critical issues, particularly foreign policy, not being addressed by the major political parties or the media. In the first half hour, we convene a discussion with Canadian foreign policy critic and author Yves Engler and with anti-war activist Ken Stone about the myths and realities surrounding Canadian involvement in the Middle East and militarism more generally and what distinctions if any exist among the different political parties in these areas. In the second half hour, journalist and writer Arnold August discusses Canada's 'policy shift' toward Venezuela and Cuba and why he sees Trudeau's 'slavish' attitude toward the U.S. as unprecedented in modern times. Finally, award- winning freelance writer and researcher Joyce Nelson talks about the Canada Infrastructure Bank and how this little discussed Crown Corporation threatens to oversee the privatization of water and wastewater services across the country.
Doug speaks with Hamilton-area activists David Rennie and Ken Stone, who formed part of the resistance to Justin Trudeau on Labour Day. The Prime Minister decided to crash the Labour Day parade and use it for election photo-ops, even though the Labour Council made clear that he was not welcome. Thanks to anti-war activists, indigenous justice advocates, and union members, Trudeau was chased unceremoniously out of the parade and the park.

I first met Ken Stone a couple of year's ago at a business training event in Lake Tahoe. I was intrigued by this big gregarious guy who at called himself a "healer." At the same time, even though I was on a quest to be more spiritually open minded the title of "healer" pushed some buttons. During the event I got to know Ken and had a great conversation with him about contemplation, Father Keating from Snow Mass, CO and our religious backgrounds that was filled with laughter and even a few tears. Since that time, we have stayed in touch. When i changed the format of FuelRadio I thought of Ken and asked him if he wanted to play. Thankfully he did! He asked someone who participated in his workshops and one-on-one calls, author, speaker Jan Carlin if she would be willing to share her story as well. Gratefully she agreed. Ken Stone and Irene Silber’s Hard to Believe is a tight 56-minute exposé of an issue that few people like to think about: forced organ harvesting in China. It isn’t exactly a secret that the Chinese government performs surgery on its political prisoners without their consent, but in recent years the media has largely neglected this still very present atrocity. This documentary, which mostly looks at the communist party’s persecution of Falun Gong spiritual practitioners, is Stone and Silber’s great effort to bring this issue back into the spotlight, to push past the compassion fatigue that most Western citizens in particular seem to be feeling. Most of the interviews here have been conducted with American Human Rights Defenders Torsten Trey and Ethan Gutmann, who urge people to realise that these horrific violations will never be stopped if everyone just keeps waiting for someone else to fight the fight. It seems to Trey and Gutmann that if this was happening anywhere other than in China, one of the most powerful global economic players, then the international outrage and protest would be much louder and stronger. They also suggest that the problem feels too large and abstract for most outsiders to really comprehend. The human impact of these practices can easily to get lost in the sea of statistics, or indeed in the literal sea that divides China from most other countries in the world. While the short running time does make the film easier to digest, and could well encourage some of the more apathetic people to actually see sit through it, it doesn’t really allow Stone and Silber enough time to explore the issue in quite enough detail. On top of that, far too much of this time is spent listening to these two white social commentators, while any interviews with the victims of this abhorrent system of exploitation are something of a rarity. In fact, out of the interviewees who are actually Chinese, the one who is given the most screen time is a perpetrator, not a victim. We hear a great deal about how prison doctors are being coerced into stealing the organs of their patients while they are still alive and fully awake. We also hear some of the telephone calls made by people wanting to purchase these rare healthy “criminal” organs. There’s no denying that these are both crucial things to cover, but this should not be at the expense of the voices that have already been horrifically suppressed. If anyone is going to be made the face of forced organ harvesting, it should unquestionably be one of the victims. While Gutmann doesn’t believe it’s fair to expect these people to advocate for themselves, since most of them don’t have the legal or political expertise, the idea that none of them have the skills or the capability to fight for their own rights is something I actually do find Hard to Believe. Political campaigning might work very differently in the West compared to China, but that does not in any way mean that the Chinese people can’t speak for themselves in the international media, or that they need a white saviour to fly in and rescue them. In some ways the most, and in other ways the least controversial approach this film adopts is to compare the organ harvesting in the Chinese medical system to the Holocaust. Even though they are both large scale atrocities that were at least initially met with global denial and apathy, we are now unfortunately at a point where this is a very commonly invoked comparison that people have become almost desensitised to. I’m not sure what it would take to shake the rest of the world out of their inaction, but an acceptance of the Chinese people as the leaders of this cause and as the voices of their own national problem would certainly be a start.Written by Christian TsoutsouvasSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The government of China is live harvesting organs from prisoners of conscience--possibly from as many as 100,000 prisoners a year. Ken Stone is the director of the documentary 'Hard to Believe, and he describes the process and the difficulty of telling this disturbing story in a one-hour film.
Earlier this summer, we spoke to Monia Mazigh about CSIS agents making unannounced visits to Muslims. Now, one of those men joins us. After studying and teaching English in Egypt, Juned Moid* was visited by CSIS agents, denied entry into the US and had his passport renewal delayed. He doesn't know why. We also speak to Ken Stone, an activist and political commentator, who launched a complaint against CSIS after two agents showed up at his door, asking him about an op-ed he wrote in the Hamilton Spectator. He tells her about the three-year process of trying to resolve the complaint through the Security Intelligence Review Committee. *A pseudonym to avoid career problems
This week’s newsletter is later than usual because I’ve been away at a retreat – Soul Reunion Experience hosted by Ken Stone. It’s been a week of profound insights, profound connections and profound gratitude. The best part for me was that, even with all the transcendent experiences, I felt grounded and easy with moving back into my regular world.

Another new module and the final one of this Program. This week plus two more and I will be done with school, but not with my film. Finishing the film will be my priority once school is finished. It's sort of like graduating and then having to go to summer school, or cleaning up after the prom. Or something. There's no time to rest though, until I finish my film my stomach is going to be churning and adrenaline is going to be pumping. This final class is shoe horning in two ideas, DVD Authoring and Color Correction. We're using Apple's DVD Studio Pro for the authoring and we're looking at color correction in Avid, which has superior tools for the job over Final Cut Pro. Not so Color, Apples newest tool in the Final Cut Suite. I address them all in this show, including reasons why Color, which is the deepest and richest of the three tools for professional color correction, should not be the first thing you reach for when you correct color. Take a look at the T L Cooper Eclipse, an expensive sophisticated keyboard/input device that allows you maximize the color correction workflow. There's a great review of using this tool at Ken Stone's site. In the show I refer to Pitch Black, Titanic and the Lord of the Rings series are good examples of using color throughout a film to evoke place, mood and time. Macaela Vandermost is the instructor for this module. She introduced the idea of color correction at the beginning of the class, because we're going to be spending a full day on Saturday, the last day of the class, learning about color correcting in Avid. A lot of people in class felt they should get an overview of color correction in FCP and she kindly obliged. Color Correction is a difficult concept to grasp and it's even harder to do well, so getting an introduction at the beginning of the class and then more in depth instruction at the end should make it easier to get it. We spent the entire class Tuesday looking at color correction and Thursday we did a quick run through of using DVD Studio Pro 4 to author a DVD. Classes for the remaining module will go into depth on the critical aspects of authoring, such as compression, creating menu navigation and menu graphics and developing an efficient workflow.
