Straight from Chicago, the multi-talented duo known as It's A Cool Day is set to release theirlatest single, “The Butterfly Effect,” on June 16. The single weaves intricate melodies withrelaxing overtones that transport the listener to a musical escape. It's A Cool Day is comprised of Craig Lowe, aka The C.o.o.l (Chase Opportunity or Lose), andDerion Scroggins aka Day Underscore, who together can best be described as “a vibe.” The duowas developed by industry veteran Greg “Olskool Ice-Gre” Lewis (Abstract Mindstate), the veryfirst A&R of Good Music and a twenty-three-year creative collaborator to the artist formerlyknown as Kanye West. He sensed the collaborative potential between C.o.o.l and Day andprovided an environment in which they could thrive together. The magic orchestrated by Honest Music enabled “The Butterfly Effect” to take flight. “Olskoolprovided the atmosphere for us to just do us and create and have conversations and vibe out,”explains the duo. “We were holding a mic and passing it to each other. That was the cool thingabout this project—it was such a unique process.”Lyrically, “The Butterfly Effect” stems from dealing with love and the butterflies that get in yourgut. “It's about not ruining the moment,” tells the duo. “The narrator's thinking ‘I hope I'mdoing everything correctly—the best for me in this situation. But I've also been hurt inrelationships.' It's about hoping the girl is the person he's been looking for and what was meantfor him and what he needs.”“We're not afraid to be vulnerable. If you look at music these days, things are toxic. We haveour share of toxic songs but we're more than that. This is what we're feeling and want toexpress that to listeners. It's not about protecting the ego but being real.”“We want listeners to know it's okay to take a chance. It's the most selfish and selfless thingyou can do when it comes to love. Love is tricky and risky, but it's so necessary to not be closedoff and isolated,” adds It's A Cool Day. “We have the opportunity to be secluded andindependent, but you have to get outside.”The butterfly effect also refers to the real-life phenomenon of the monarch butterfly, amultigenerational species that paves the way for future generations to thrive.Together, C.o.o.l and Day have created a sound that is a hybrid of the many styles that haveinfluenced them, along with a touch of their own.“I started in music really young,” shares C.o.o.l of his upbringing. “I sang in choir and wasclassically trained in opera. Yet growing up in a rough environment, hip hop and rap are a partof me—they're in my fabric. The combination has created a unique style in me. When I met Dayin California, we went on to merge sounds and create an R&B sound with edge.”Cool comes from the south side of Chicago, while Derion is from the west side. “We grew up ata different pace, but it's all still Chicago,” adds Day. A second-generation artist, Day also had anearly start in music. His father was a musician who would take him to rehearsals and the studio.“I caught the bug very early on,” Day adds. “I was heavily influenced by R&B and pop—fromMichael Jackson to Usher. I was a late bloomer to hip hop.”The creation of “Butterfly” is the result of pure collaboration. Day produced the song from topto bottom, while the lyrics and concept are a result of both working together. “Day came withthe beat and I knew it was special as soon as I heard it,” says C.o.o.l. “When it comes to him, there wouldn't be a record without him. He hears a beat no matter where in the production.”In the same vein, Day has nothing but good words to say about his musical counterpart. “Thecool thing about C.o.o.l is that he has conversations. The way the words come together forhim—I've never seen anything like it. The lyrics come together and make sense. I'm a writer andwill write the lyrics but he doesn't have to because he's a superhuman.”After their single—complete with visuals—drops, It's A Cool Day is looking forward to releasingtheir project, You're Welcome, on June 23. “It's less of an EP and more of a conversationalpiece,” teases the duo. “We're in the middle of making a bridge between traditional andmodern. We want to inspire the progression of what may come.”Make sure to stay connected to It's A Cool Day on all platforms for new music, videos, andsocial posts.YouTube: @itsacoolday Facebook: /ItsACoolDay TikTok: @itsacoolday_Twitter: @_itsacooldayInstagram: @_itsacoolday

Also for real.

B. Cox & J. Owe look back at Heltah Skeltah's debut album Nocturnal. It was the first offering by Rock and Ruck (bka the late Sean Price) and the 3rd album released by the hip-hop collective Boot Camp Clik (BCC). Following the success and acclaim of Enta Tha Stage and Dah Shinin by their labelmates, the duo cranked out a project narrated by rugged, yet skilled rhymes over dark and haunting production by the Beatminerz, Buckshot, Lord Jamar, Shawn J Period, E-Swift and others. While not commercially acclaimed, the album became an underground and cult classic.Follow The Vault on IG: @vaultcmrpodcastFollow The Vault on Twitter: @VaultClassicSubscribe to the Vault on Youtube: The Vault: Classic Music Reviews PodcastShow notes:Albumism: Happy 25th Anniversary to Heltah Skeltah's 'Nocturnal'https://www.albumism.com/anniversaries/heltah-skeltah-debut-album-nocturnalWhatWentRight.com: What Went Right With...'Nocturnal' by Heltah Skeltah?https://whatwentrightwith.com/2016/06/18/what-went-right-with-heltah-skeltah-nocturnal/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

The Freaky Boiz will coming on #WileyNFlashGottiRadio To Listen Call in 516-387-1815 Chicago natives Terrance ‘TtGotIt’ Wilson and Pierre ‘Prince Charming’ Phipps met and became best friends in high school, then went on to pursue degrees at Southern Illinois University. In 2010, after discovering a mutual love for hip-hop, they began posting videos of them free-styling over some of the hottest rap singles. “Girlz Be Gagging”, their interpretation of Nicki Minaj’s “Roman’s Revenge”, is a provocative, raunchy track filled with tales of sex and debauchery. While indie gay rap has been around for years, their music began to circulate over YouTube with over 2.1 million views. They have appeared on major radio stations such as The Breakfast Club (New York City) and WGCI (Chicago), magazine articles, and performed across the United States. Critics condemn them for portraying gay black men as being promiscuous and overly sexual. The Freaky Boiz don’t seem to mind, because they embrace the controversy and continue to make provocative music. They’ve continued to produce great music and has launched their first mix tape, “Unleashed”, December 25 of 2012.

?????With all the “coonery-bafoonery” and rachetness going on in the world, The GaptoothDiva decided to do some real talk discussion with one of the most honest and sincere individuals in her life, Bridget Selby of Gesher International. Bridget is a Virginia native and UVA graduate. She has taught elementary and middle school students and owned and operated a nanny service in California for 5 years. She is the Revelationz@Sunset consulting team member. She is also currently establishing Gesher (meaning "bridge" in Hebrew) International, which is essentially a networking hub that "bridges" people, places, resources, and opportunities to the passionate and underserved. Gesher also collaborates with and supports other businesses, ministries, and other "people serving" entities involved in such things as education, mental health and wellness, childcare, and food procurement. Its goal is to make communities aware of resources so people can help care for and heal themselves, pursue dreams, and live life instead of just surviving. GaptoothDiva Featured Artist of the Week Yung OG's members include Artavian Gilliam (born on June 10, 1981, in Richmond, VA) and Dontevous Williams (born September 16, 1984, in Augusta, GA). The Yung OG's are powerhouse rappers which use their powerful songwriting abilities as well as off the top freestyles abilities to create an impressive string of hit singles. Artavian Gilliam (Tave Getem) and Dontevous Williams (DirtyRed) met each other in March 2010 where they had a lyrical battle which made each gain respect for the other's skills. They then formed the group Yung OG's.
