Robbie Savage and Chris Sutton took your calls on Saturday’s football action. Fans reacted to news of promotions and relegations as they were confirmed up and down the EFL. Derby’s defeat to Swansea took their fight to the last day of the season, Peterborough secured a spot in the Championship with a late penalty, and Southend dropped out of the Football League for the first time in more than a century. There was also debate over the greatest managers in English football, as we asked where Guardiola sits on that list. And there’s a Liverpool v Manchester United edition of Gone in 60 Suttons and The Wanderer. The show originally aired on May 1st 2021 on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Our Earth Week arc of episodes featuring red state women organizing for communities and the planet continues! In this episode, we talk with the legendary Diane Wilson (@unreasonabledw), Texas shrimper, environmentalist and author, about her hunger strike demanding that the Biden Administration stop the proposed dredging of Matagorda ship channel and ban crude oil exports. To put the story in full context, we discuss with Diane her 30 years of work in fighting corporate polluters on the Texas Gulf Coast through organizing, litigation, monitoring, direct action and more. Diane's work against companies like Dow Chemical, Formosa Plastics and now Max Midstream in one of the most conservative regions in the nation has been inspiring. It's rooted in organizing and working with community members, workers and ex-workers from across the spectrum. Diane Wilson is a fourth-generation shrimper and mother of five from Seadrift, Texas. She's also an environmental activist, an anti-war activist, and author of An Unreasonable Woman: A True Story of Shrimpers, Politicos, Polluters and the Fight for Seadrift, Texas. It's what's known as the business end of the season, and Mark Clemmit is joined this week by two men who hail from the North East, but are both plying their trade in the south at opposite ends of the EFL pyramid. Jonathan Woodgate is the manager of AFC Bournemouth until the end of the season and his side are on a fantastic run of form, eyeing a return to the top flight at the first attempt through the perilous playoffs. At the other end of the EFL spectrum, vastly experienced manager Phil Brown, has returned once again to one of his old clubs to see if he can keep them from being relegated from Skybet League Two and dropping out of the EFL completely. It's a tough ask, but you wouldn't bet against Brownie with 5 games to go!

After a pretty devastating transfer window, the Shrimpers notch another win. How, you ask? Good question, and one Charles ponders in great detail. We chat other great escapes and train etiquette, because it's important.
Chalk a 'W' up for the Shrimpers, 'cos they've finally got three points on the board. We know, incredible. Charles ponders whether the revival starts now in a truncated episode (he wasn't well, bless him).
Well, it had everything, didn't it. But unfortunately for Charles, his first game had neither a competent Shrimpers performance (or an an acceptable outside temperature). We reflect on a match that may have Sol on the brink already.
A day late, but twice as good! In this episode, we talk about literally LOADS of things. In League One: Tisdale OUT, Russell Martin IN at MK Dons, Bolton - could they do it? - Rotherham and wonder who the best team actually is. It's been nearly a month since the last episode, but little seems to have changed for the Shrimpers. We discuss the long-awaited first win of the season, candidates for Bondy's vacated throne, and ask just how many Cornettos is too many.
Unsurprisingly, it's another Shrimpers defeat. Somewhat more surprisingly, Kevin Bond is still in a job. Go figure. We contemplate how long this pain may last, and Charles makes a bold prediction ahead of Leasing.com Cup action.
Joining us on the Roker Rapport Xtra Podcast to preview Sunderland’s trip to Southend is Shrimpers fan Liam, who writes for ‘All At Sea Fanzine’! It's all looking a bit bloody grim for The Shrimpers. No win in 10 and one place outside the relegation zone makes for a pretty shit time. We pick apart the latest loss, look ahead with endless optimism at the season run-in and long for simpler, Tony Robinson-filled times.
After a mixed bag of a week, we reflect on what's been a middling season so far for The Shrimpers. But, more importantly, Charles busts out another spectacular quiz and hilarity ensues.
Fresh off a couple of successive away wins, the lads are back home this weekend to face Southend United. Graham sat down for a chat with All At Sea Fanzine to see what the Shrimpers have been up to since last we met, and what to expect on Saturday! You can listen, for free as usual, on Acast, iTunes, Spotify, TuneIn and of course YouTube. What are we talking about this week?Reminiscing about our previous meetings; There’s a distinct smell of something in the air at Roots Hall and it isn’t Shrimp..Chris Powell; How has he been doing since taking over from the less than popular Phil Brown?A few familiar names as Big Michael Turner makes a return to the SoL; Is he still the Usain Bolt of defenders?Likely lineups, tactical analysis, injury talk and predictions;Dost thou feareth the King of Sh*thousery; Chris Maguire loves making friends everywhere he travels...A view from the outside; How do others see our performances on (and off) the pitch this season? This and much more! It's a loss out of the blue (geddit, Coventry play in blue) for The Shrimpers, and Charles isn't happy. We talk average league performances and accidentally cross-promote a lot of other podcasts that are probably funnier than this one.
Chalk another win up for The Shrimpers (discounting the Checkatrade Trophy, no one gives a shit). With the table looking pretty rosy, Charles gets all mathematical with stats and things. We also go on a hefty nickname tangent, obviously.

The story of a flat tyre. Yes dear listeners fate intervened to prevent me making yesterday's excellent home win over the Shrimpers, forcing me instead to follow proceedings from the waiting room of Kwik Fit tyres. A poor substitute for what was described to me in one message as 'an attritional lower league battle - lovely'. Thankfully this week's special guest Omer Ronayne was able to get to the match and he describes yesterday's performance in the first part of this week's edition. Finally my conversation with Omer is wrapped up with a short update on the week's dramatic revelations about Lewisham Council's slow-motion car crash this is the car park CPOs. After the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010, British Petroleum established a program to compensate those affected. Roscoe Liebig, a shrimper from Pas Christian, says that program was poorly administered and rife with fraudulent claims. Liebig has noticed that young people are no longer choosing a career in the shrimping industry. He wonders about the future of the industry.
