In this powerful sermon, Pastor Kirstyn Rempel of 2911 Church challenges us to examine who we're imitating—Christ or the culture around us. From the natural instinct we have to mirror others to the spiritual call to reflect our Creator, she unpacks the biblical foundation of imitation and the transformative power of speaking in faith. With humor, conviction, and practical wisdom, Pastor Kirstyn reminds us that our words shape our world—and that true faith isn't about demanding outcomes, but declaring God's truth and trusting His will. It's time to speak life, stand firm, and imitate Christ, not culture.00:00 - Intro: Imitators by Design 02:30 - The Power of Imitation in Children & Adults 05:55 - Who Are You Reflecting? 08:10 - What “Speaking in Faith” Is—and Isn't 11:45 - Name It, Claim It vs. True Faith 15:00 - The Story of the 12 Spies 18:00 - Caleb & Joshua: Faith in Action 21:10 - Anchoring Yourself in God's Word 24:45 - Declaring God's Character in Chaos 28:00 - Submission to God's Will 31:15 - How to Start Speaking Life 33:45 - Practical Verses to Declare 36:30 - Closing Challenge: Speak Faith, Not Fear----------Follow 2911 Church on Social Media:FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/2911churchINSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/2911churchWEBSITE: https://www.2911church.com/GIVING: https://2911church.churchcenter.com/giving----------Subscribe to 2911 Church's Podcast:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6SiLmBl5TcTGD63CTNwU4f?si=98186b325cf94ee6Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/29-11-church/id1456498714
“What To Do When You Don't Know What To Do” May 11, 2025 2 Chronicles 20:1-23 Rev. Bill Vogler Sermon Application [file] ----more---- 2 Chronicles 20:1 After this the Moabites and Ammonites, and with them some of the Meunites, came against Jehoshaphat for battle. [2] Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, “A great multitude is coming against you from Edom, from beyond the sea; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar” (that is, Engedi). [3] Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. [4] And Judah assembled to seek help from the Lord; from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord. [5] And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, [6] and said, “O Lord, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you. [7] Did you not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? [8] And they have lived in it and have built for you in it a sanctuary for your name, saying, [9] ‘If disaster comes upon us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before you—for your name is in this house—and cry out to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.' [10] And now behold, the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came from the land of Egypt, and whom they avoided and did not destroy— [11] behold, they reward us by coming to drive us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit. [12] O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” [13] Meanwhile all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. [14] And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, son of Benaiah, son of Jeiel, son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. [15] And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's. [16] Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the valley, east of the wilderness of Jeruel. [17] You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.' Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.” [18] Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. [19] And the Levites, of the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice. [20] And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. And when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.” [21] And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say, “Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.” [22] And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed. [23] For the men of Ammon and Moab rose against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, devoting them to destruction, and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they all helped to destroy one another. It's so easy to wait for the perfect moment to finally go after something we've been dreaming about. I've definitely caught myself saying, “I'll start when I have more time” or “when things calm down.” But in today's episode, we're tossing that mindset out the window. I'm sharing what it really looks like to take messy, imperfect action right now, not later, not when everything's just right. You'll hear some personal stories and real talk about leading your life with intention instead of just reacting to whatever comes your way. This is your (and my) pep talk to be bold, trust your gut, let go of what you can't control, and take that first step, no perfect timing needed. We are told by ‘The World,' “You can be ANYTHING you want to be if you only believe,” while simultaneously telling us, “as long as it fits within OUR prescribed set of options, assumptions, and labels of what you SHOULD be.” In other words, “Conform, or we will cast you out.” Conformity, by definition, is “the act of compliance, submission, acquiescence, or obedience to a specified standard or authority.” We live in a world where people have continuously engaged in the never-ending battle against oppression. The irony is that most people slip into one of the various ‘oppressed' societal communities (ranging from family traditions and gender issues, and even the cult of ‘healing the inner child'), communities that themselves require your ‘obedience to a specified standard,' mainly victim consciousness, to belong. Again, “Prostrate, or we will cast you out.” What is at the root of all this? Fear. Not Fear of you, but the Fear of you leaving them behind, of seeing you live in the freedom of being your authentic self, free of conformity and Fear itself, of you illuminating their imprisonment in the cage of Fear, despite their denials of its reality – it only takes one to shatter their illusion, and this is why they reject you, scape-goat you, or even come at you with violence; anything to remove the threat of the truth of their imprisonment to Fear. So how do you “be not conformed to this world?” By trusting your inner voice, that higher voice of The Divine. By taking a bold step into The Light of Love and trusting that you will be shielded, protected, and led into the full fruition of your dream of Heaven on Earth. And how do you do that? Listen in as I share the wisdom of my discovery and remembrance of The Truth. In her book From Rage to Reason: Why We Need Sex Crime Laws Based on Facts, Not Fear (Bloomsbury Academic, 2023), Emily Horowitz shows how current sex-offense policies in the United States create new forms of harm and prevent those who have caused harm from the process of constructive repentance or contributing to society after punishment. Horowitz also illustrates the failure of criminal justice responses to social problems. Sharing detailed narratives from the experiences of those on registries and their loved ones, Horowitz reveals the social impact and cycle of violence that results from dehumanizing and banishing those who have already been held accountable. Emily Horowitz is professor of sociology and criminal justice at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. Everything you ever wanted comes to you through people. And everything you ever wanted is on the other side of NOT FEAR but entitlement. Not some deity, not the Universe, but people. Darn! right?Because we are lousy at this people thing, aren’t we?The most successful at this are the sociopath, psychopaths, narcissists… not the ‘good’ people. … Continue reading "Everything you ever wanted is beyond entitlement, not fear"The post Everything you ever wanted is beyond entitlement, not fear first appeared on Become all you can become with Sophie.
FEAR or FEAR NOTAs follow up to S2/E13, fear is a primary emotion. The secondary emotions surfaced from fear are feeling anxious, insecure, inferior, panic.Fear often comes from possibly losing something: love, identity, meaning, purpose (or the chance to express oneself), or life."Do not fear" and similar phrases are mentioned OFTEN in the Bible (365 times or more, depending on how you search for similar words/thought). It is a primary theme. God's command/invitation for us to "Not Fear" is to be taken in view of the reality of who God is and who we are as his children. God spoke "Do Not Fear" to the leaders He called into mission with and for Him. We are well served when we stop looking at things from our perspective, but from God's perspective. Are the things we may be afraid to lose really ours to lose? These are all gifts from God and in God's Kingdom we cannot lose His love for us, our identity in Christ, meaning or life.God gets that we have a tendency to be afraid, so he is reminding us regularly about the spiritual reality and keep our focus on God/Jesus and who He is, not the "surrounding waves" around us and what we feel that we lack. We should not be controlled by our fears, but to give them to God, or Heavenly Father. After we give our fears to God, we need to leave those fears with Him - and not pick them back up to try handle or deal or dwell on with them with ourselves."Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Do everything in love.."1 Corinthians 16:13-14 ESV

Have you tried again and again to start a new way of eating, only to hit the stage where it feels like total garbage and abandon it? Maybe that Very Good Part of you starts making really good points about not restricting yourself or punishing yourself, about what doesn't feel like Love, etc. I love her! Sexual violence is arguably the most devastating kind. But the sex offender registry has come under increasing scrutiny. Some suggest that it actually encourages further criminal offenses by making it virtually impossible for offenders to reintegrate into society. Others say that reducing such a proactive approach and tool will endanger communities. In this context, we debate the following question: Does the Sex Offender Registry Do More Harm Than Good? Arguing "YES" is Emily Horowitz, a sociologist who researches sex offense law and policy, and the author of "Protecting Our Kids? How Sex Offender Laws Are Failing Us" and "From Rage to Reason: Why We Need Sex Crime Laws Based on Facts, Not Fear." Arguing "No" is Cary Federman, an associate professor at Montclair State University who focuses law and jurisprudence, free speech, democratic theory, prisons and prisoners' rights. He is the author of "The Body and the State: Habeas Corpus and American Jurisprudence." Emmy award-winning journalist John Donvan moderates. Learn more about your ad choices. Are you afraid of being alone? Well, you're not alone in that. In a 2014 survey of 2,000 adults, one in three said they fear being alone: 40% of women and 35% of men. The world is riddled with distractions that prevent us from having to feel alone even when we aren't in the physical presence of another person. While no study pinpoints social media as a cause of depression and feelings of isolation—in fact, social media can be a tool for combatting loneliness—it, along with texting, television, and video gaming, can distract us from embracing solitude. We are all born to take center stage in our life, but not everyone gets the memo. We were all designed to boldly and unapologetically use the gifts that we've been given. However, when you're used to playing the background, or been forced to do so for so long, finding the power to stand out can appear more daunting than liberating. Guest Teneshia Warner takes her seat at the table to explore why we all should start using and owning our power to find success where we are. Teneshia Jackson Warner is the Founder and CEO of EGAMI Group, an award-winning multicultural agency. EGAMI is a trusted partner to world leading consumer, lifestyle, healthcare, financial and corporate brands; and the first multicultural and Black woman-owned agency to win Grand Prix film honors at the Cannes Festival of Creativity. Teneshia is a dynamic speaker and two-time author whose first book, Profit With Purpose: A Marketers Guide to Deliver Purpose-Driven Campaigns to Multicultural Audiences earned rave reviews as the first-of-its-kind guide to multicultural, purpose-driven marketing. She is also the creator of The Dream Project Symposium and coach to Dreamers at all stages of their path to greater purpose. Throughout her career, Teneshia has amassed several professional awards including the coveted Black Enterprise Rising Star Award, Black Enterprises Forty Under 40, AdColor MVP and The Network Journal's Forty Under 40 Award. She has also been featured in Fast Company, Forbes, Success Magazine, AdWeek, Ad Age, Entrepreneur, Essence and Black Enterprise magazines and made guest appearances on outlets including ABC News and The Steve Harvey Show. And when we use it the proper way. It really has the opportunity to transform whatever situation we're in.” - Tommi Vincent “Success is about operating on purpose, personally, and professionally.” - Teneshia Jackson Warner “I've learned in failure is surrendering in acceptance of what's for you is for you and what's not is not, and there are going to be times where things that you desire. In our mind, there are things that will show up as failure, experiences that may show up as failure. However, God will have another plan for what that failure really is. And we got to leave room for God to get in there and show you what His will is for your life.” - Teneshia Jackson “The more you hold on to something that is not for you, the more time you waste. And time, I believe personally, is the greatest commodity that we have on this earth. And you will not get it back. So when you let it go, you free up time to explore the things that are for you.” - Tommi Vincent “Always examine where fear may be asking you to play in a smaller arena that you have outgrown, where fear may be asking you to operate in a dream that has expired. There's such a thing as expired dreams, you have to renew them and listen for fresh anointings. And they did so. 5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us? 6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: 7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. 8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. 9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.Ex. 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.Ex. 14:15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: 16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. 18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. 19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: 20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.Ex. 14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, 25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. 26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. 27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. 29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. 31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.— — —Watch/Listen here using our Subsplash WebShare Playerhttps://subspla.sh/j796fwtListen here on Archive.orghttps://archive.org/download/060522-pm-facebook-stream/060522PM-FacebookStream.mp3

Has she distinguished herself in her response, including in relation to restrictions on accessing the sacraments, and to moral and ethical questions surrounding the COVID vaccines? Has Church leadership made a compelling case that, pandemic or not, the laws of God will always supersede the laws of man?Joining us to help grapple with these questions is Philip Lawler, editor of Catholic World News and news director at CatholicCulture.org. Fear, fear, and more fear is all we experience today with our governments, media, corporations, and other self-serving organizations creating anxiety and worry to keep us in a state of servitude. As people began to worry and be fearful of their futures, they become less empathatic toward others. Well, Jesus gave us a numerous commands to "Not Fear." And Jesus also gave us the reasons why fear and anxiety get such a hold on us, due to our greedy nature and He also gave us the way out of all anxiety and fear. Fear not. Your God has a far better Kingdom awaiting you. http://www.fifthookmedia.comLuke 12:32 (KJV)Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Into every life there are times of rough weather - strong head winds and high waves. Such times can be within us as well as all around us and the world in general. Our fears are intense. Jesus tells us, " It is I; DO NOT BE AFRAID." Jesus says this to us STANDING IN THE MIDST OF THE TURMOIL and invites to come to Him. Faith and trust, NOT FEAR, ARE WHAT IS NEEDED. Jesus extends his hand to lift us up to a place of true safety-- WITH HIM! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/fr-william-maestri-overfed-and-undernourished/support
Is it okay to be single? I feel pressured to date. A few things to keep in mind: 1. Get to know YOUR values and goals. 2. Smooth your path by connecting with a mentor. Who is already serving in a profession that interests you? 3. Use your value system to weigh which relationships are in alignment and which are NOT. 4. When considering someone to date, try not to jump in head first, get to know them on a deeper level, meet their family, watch how they treat others… 5. NEVER… NEVER rush a relationship. 6. Make sure you are well-versed with the signs of dating abuse in regard to relationship health 7. Remember that the only person you can change, is who? Yourself! 8. Jumping into a relationship may cause us to compromise our values to avoid being alone. 9. Focus on your current social connections 10. Develop your own interests and passions, and enjoy being single! 11. You are ALREADY "complete" and good enough, as you are. 12. Later when you're ready to date, and you find someone on the same page as you, it'll be a bonus! You'll complement each other instead of "completing" each other. And when we use it the proper way. It really has the opportunity to transform whatever situation we're in.” - Tommi Vincent “Success is about operating on purpose, personally, and professionally.” - Teneshia Jackson Warner“I've learned in failure is surrendering in acceptance of what's for you is for you and what's not is not, and there are going to be times where things that you desire. Anywhere fear is stagnating you, that's where you probably need to lean in.” - Teneshia Jackson Connect with Teneshia Jackson WarnerInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/teneshiajwarner/?hl=en Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/teneshiajwarner/ Book: https://www.amazon.com/Big-Stretch-Expand-Dreams-Success/dp/1260456803 Connect with Me! (00:00-10:03): Not Even the Gates of a Hellish Pandemic Will Prevail Over God’s Church. Scripture doesn’t promise wealth or health or even life. What, then, does it promise? (10:03-19:41): We listen to an excerpt from a “Beliefs” Podcast from Religion News Service: “God in the time of coronavirus - with Father James Martin, S.J.”. He touches on how the constant is Christ and He not only hears you, but understands our grief. (19:41-29:23): We hear from the Director of Send Institute, Daniel Yang. He encourages us to trust God to work in these circumstances. We may be surrounded by tension and forced to be with people you may not get along with, but God wants to use this moment to reconcile and heal. (29:23-39:40): Author and grief expert, David Kessler, appeared on PBS to offer some perspective on the situation. He talks about the stages of grief and how we ought to build proper connections and community during this time. We are up against a common enemy. (40:37-50:48): Alejandra Molina writes “Larger churches urged to help smaller ones survive during pandemic” in Religion News Service. Brian and Ian touch on looking out for each other as the larger church. (50:48-1:01:05): Siusan Peak writes “Social Distancing From Church Is an Act of Love, Not Fear” in Relevant Magazine. The ultimate model of substitution and sacrifice was Christ, who gave his life so that we might live. We also might think of soldiers, first responders and others who step into danger to protect and serve. (1:01:05-1:11:40): Brett McCracken writes “Coronavirus Could Kill Consumer Christianity” in The Gospel Coalition. PLUS, “Coronavirus outbreak spurs record Bible purchases: ‘People are looking for hope’” (1:12:44-1:19:15): Brian and Ian’s “Weird Stuff We Found on the Internet”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
