Have you ever gotten so close to something but just couldn’t pull it off, just couldn’t get it done? I would run about 15 miles a week. Varying it like 5 3 mile runs and a time or two, 3 5 mile runs. I would build up to a few longer runs like 5, 8 miles. I wanted to get up to 10 mile runs. When I got to 8.5 miles one day, I knew I was getting close. I worked pretty hard on it but found that I had to make some more changes in my life to get there. Certainly there were some diet issues and further training. It took more time out of my schedule, I had to have more commitment to getting it done. I mean, I was so close, but I never made it. So close.

This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, novelist and life coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Monday, July 10, 2023, and this is Episode #27 of Series 2023. This episode is titled "Signs & Seasons of Christ's Return". There is a very interesting Scripture passage in Mark 13: 28-29 that says this: “Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that His [Jesus Christ's] return is very near, right at the door." (Brackets mine.) Prophecy expert and teacher T.W. Tramm has pointed out that summer as used in this Scripture is a metaphor for the end times. Keeping this in mind, Tram discusses five signs of summer that indicate that our Lord Jesus is coming soon to take us home in the Rapture. Let's take a look at these five signs. 1. The 8th Anniversary of the Appearance of the Star of Bethlehem in 2015. July 1st of this year marked eight years since the Jupiter-Venus conjunction, referred to as the Star of Bethlehem, reappeared in 2015. While this recurrent conjunction is not necessarily rare, as Tramm points out, the one that occurred in 2015 was unique in that it occurred on the Jewish fall feasts of harvest. Also, like the original Star of Bethlehem that appeared around 2 B.C., this 2015 Bethlehem Star was a rare triple conjunction that occurred in the constellation Leo, or the Lion. It is this constellation that represents Jesus as the Lion of Judah, as we read in Revelation 5: 5, where John writes: "But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, 'Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David's throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.'” Also, the appearance of the Bethlehem Star in 2015 occurred in a sabbatical year, just as did the original Bethlehem Star. The sabbatical year is the seventh of seven years during which the Israelites are not to plant crops but to let the ground rest for a year. This command is found in Leviticus 25: 3-5:  "For six years sow your fields, and for six years prune your vineyards and gather their crops. But in the seventh year the land is to have a year of sabbath rest, a sabbath to the Lord. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards. Do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the grapes of your untended vines. The land is to have a year of rest.” So every seventh year, there was to be no planting or pruning of crops. The land was to rest. It is possible, as Tramm points out, that the Bethlehem Star and eclipses of 2015 were a seven-year warning about the Sabbatical week that will begin in September of this year on Rosh Hashanah, September 15-17.  2. The Full Moon. On July 3rd of this year, the first full moon of summer appeared. This moon was a super moon and indicates the type of moon that will usher in the return of the "goodman" of the house—namely, Jesus Christ—as described in Proverbs 7: 20: "...at the full moon he [the goodman or husband] will come home."   The full moon represents the Bride of Christ,

How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is giv'n!So God imparts to human heartsthe blessings of his heav'n.No ear may hear his coming, but in this world of sin, where meek souls will receive him, stillthe dear Christ enters in.You have likely heard or sung these very lines over the course of the last few weeks. They are a verse from Philip Brooks' 1868 Christmas hymn O Little Town of Bethlehem. Bethlehem. It means "house of bread." It is called the "city of David" and is the birthplace of the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, prophesied as Immanuel, God with us, the star of Jacob, the sun of righteousness. Bethlehem is a fitting name for the place where the very bread of life Himself would come into the world as an infant, as a man, for man. The One who made the stars with the breath of His mouth drew his first infant breath under the starry skies of a lowly Judean province. As Charles Wesley's famous 1739 Christmas hymn proclaims:Mild He lays His glory byBorn that man no more may dieHark! The herald angels singGlory to the newborn King!On part two of our discussion about the star of Bethlehem, we discuss more of the Scripture, background and history of what the star the Magi saw in the east may have been. Though another Christmas has come and gone so quickly, let us never forget that the real star of Bethlehem was not the star itself, but the bright and morning star (Rev. 22:16, the star of Jacob (Num. 24:17), the Creator of the stars and the entire cosmos (Gen. 1:1,14; Col. 1:16-20; John 1:1-14), incarnate as a babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger (Luke 2). ADDITIONAL RESOURCES Wayne Spencer's article on the Star of Bethlehem: https://bit.ly/WiseMenStar Watchman Fellowship's 4-page Profile on the Zoroastrianism by Brady Blevins: watchman.org/Zoro Subscribe to our sister podcast, Good Heavens! watchman.org/GoodHeavens SUPPORT: Help us create more content like this. Last month, on December 21, you may have seen the rare conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the night sky. It's been called the "Bethlehem Star" as some hold it's the one that led the Wise Men to Jesus. Some have wondered whether it was this, a supernova, a comet or any number of different phenomena that was the celestial sight mentioned in Scripture. Detailed scholarly discussions have taken place over the years to ascertain what was the real star of Bethlehem.

One of my wife's many glories is her love for astronomy. I was always into science fiction, but her own love for the night sky turned my fantasy-based curiosity into a downright intellectual fascination. Of course, there are perversions of such studies, (astrology for example), but Scripture also tells us that there is indeed meaning to be made in the movement of the spheres. In Genesis, God says, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years.” Isaiah and the Psalmists talk about how He names each of the stars and planets, appointing their positions as a testimony to His power and character. And of course, God himself ordained that the journey of magi would be guided by that bright star in the west. Which brings us to another “Bethlehem Star” event. Monday marks the winter solstice – the darkest night of the year – and we're told that for the first time in over eight centuries, Jupiter and Saturn will converge in our sight lines to form what could look like a giant star in the western sky. But exactly what significance that holds is highly debatable. Does it mark the last apocalyptic advent? Does it point a frantic world back to the day 2000 years ago when the Prince of Peace was born unto us? Is it an answer to a half-hearted demand for a sign uttered by a homeless drag queen in San Bernardino last Thursday? Hard to tell. We're also seeing folks use this as another occasion to disrespect each other, one party threatening their enemies with interpretations of impending doom and others mocking with assertions of the ultimate meaninglessness of all such phenomena. What are we to make of such things? The one thing we must not do is underestimate the intention of God to communicate to us by any means. Yahweh is loquacious. His speech pours forth in every work of nature and pools in every hollow place. That there is some significance in an event like this occurring just before Christmas is not lost on anyone who knows such a God. We may have a difficult time hearing or interpreting that speech, and certainly we need wisdom and tradition and Scripture to help us sort out natural revelations, but if God is God, then the idea that any moment or event could be without meaning is utter foolishness. I honestly don't know what the whole “Bethlehem Star” thing means, but I think a little child can lead us in exploring it. When a baby giggles and coos at me, even when there's not a discernible concrete thought in her brain, I can still be confident that she's delighting in my presence and reaching out with the fullness of her linguistic ability. Now, in the case of my relationship with God, I'm the babbling baby, and it's his clear speech and syntax that are beyond my pitiful grasp. Yet I do, by his Spirit and the testimony of Scripture, sense that his intentions toward me are filled with rapturous enchantment at my very existence and a furious commitment to bend the universe so that I might thrive. And whatever it is he's actually saying with all this star-talk, I'm sure it's something about how much he loves me. - josh

The giants of our solar system have aligned, giving New Zealand star gazers a chance to witness a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event. It's hundreds of years since Jupiter and Saturn have appeared this close together - as viewed from earth - and it will a long time before it happens again. It's known by some as the "Bethlehem Star". We all have a destiny . . . if we’re patient enough to wait until just the right time to shine. Once upon a time a Christmas Star was born into the Universe. The Galaxy said its name was the Star of Bethlehem and although the smallest star in the Universe, its purpose was to shine brighter than any star ever on the night a Savior is born. Three Wise Men would travel with gifts for the child in a time of great danger and will need to see its light to find him. The Little Star didn’t think its purpose sounded important enough. In fact, it wanted a different job—any other job. It wanted to be part of Aquarius, Gemini, Leo, or Orion. However, the Galaxy disagreed and said that the Universe is depending on its cooperation. For two thousand years, it will shine at half its light. Then at the appointed time, it will shine brighter than everything in the night sky. The Bethlehem Star tried to wait patiently for Christmas Eve. As two thousand years passed, he thought the Galaxy had forgotten him. Even when the Little Star inquired of the Galaxy, there was only deafening silence. The Bethlehem Star withstood other stars’ taunting about shining at half its light, doubting it would ever shine fully. Tears dropped from the Bethlehem Star all the way to earth, creating reservoirs of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Orion once tried to take his job, saying a comet, a planet, an angel, or even a shooting star should shine for Christmas Eve—much better choices than the dim Little Star. More years passed. The Little Star tried to force itself to flicker just a little brighter, even if it hurt to do so, but all its efforts were for naught. Then just when the Bethlehem Star was sure it had lost its chance for a miracle, the Galaxy spoke louder than before. It said the Little Star, not Orion, would shine over the Bethlehem manger where the Child was resting. As midnight approached on the first Christmas Eve, the Bethlehem Star suddenly lit the night sky. It was so bright that nearly everyone in the world could see its glow, but especially the three Wise Men. All at once, a great company of the heavenly host appeared, singing in the sky with hallelujahs. The Bethlehem Star was so excited to finally be shining. Even the angels could see how the legendary star shined so bright on Christmas Eve that the rest of the stars were amazed beyond belief. For as long as time lasts, everyone in the Universe will have heard of the Bethlehem Star and its luminous beauty.

How God Uses Blood Moons to Speak to the Church

Four blood moons took place in 2014-2015. Each of them happened on a major Jewish holiday. Two of them happened on Passover and two of them on the Feast of Tabernacles. There was a conjunction of Jupiter and Venus, the shining of the Bethlehem Star, on June 30th and July 1, 2015. While there have been many conjunctions of Jupiter and Venus, this was possibly the first time they have been that close, shining as one star, since the birth of Christ. That is why it has been called the reappearing of the Bethlehem Star. A total solar eclipse was visible from coast to coast in the USA for the first time in 100 years took place August 21st this year. The last time was 1918. This hurricane season has been record setting. Through September 12th there have been 11 names storms, 6 hurricanes, three have been major hurricanes of level three or above. Normal season has a total of twelve names storms, 6 hurricanes and three major hurricanes. An 8.4 earthquake hit Mexico on September 7th. They are anticipating an alignment of the sun, Jupiter, Venus and mars, that many are calling the fulfillment of Revelation 12 this week. What is happening? Are we near the end of time? Should we be preparing for the judgment of God as some are saying? Certainly God is trying to get our attention. Genesis 1:14 clearly tells us God will speak to us through the sun and the moon. “Then God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years’” (NKJV). Did you catch that? “Let them be for signs [otot] and seasons [moadim]." God placed the sun, the moon, and the stars in the sky to lights for planet earth. He also uses them for “signs” literally for a banner that signals direction or orients a person and for “seasons” for appointed times, for festivals. How God Uses Blood Moons to Speak to the Church It is not a coincidence that multiple times in Scripture God references the last days will be marked by blood moons and solar eclipses declaring his appointed time and signaling the direction His church should be taking. Some of the references are Isaiah 13:9-10; Amos 8:8, 9; and Matthew 24:29. Joel 2:30-31 “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord” (NKJV). Learn how you can read the signs of the times through the prism of history in this powerful course Where Are We At On God's Timeclock Get 30% off when you use the coupon code: timeclock Jesus addressed this very issue in Matthew 24 in answer to the question from His disciples, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age”? (Matthew 24:3 NKJV) Jesus gave three arenas of “signs” and “seasons” that would lead to the end of time and His return. 1. He said in verses 4-8, there will be false Christs, wars and rumors of wars, and natural disasters but all of these are the beginning of sorrows, the end is not yet. These are the birth pangs that will get closer together and more severe proclaiming that God is talking to us. He is indeed shouting at us. Don’t place greater emphasis on these things than is intended. 2. The second arena is found in Matthew 24:9-14. There will be severe persecution because the general population will hate Christians, false prophets will become popular and deceive many people, and lawlessness will abound. The Gospel will be preached to all nations, “and then the end will come.” 3. Matthew 24:15-22 records Jesus describing the third arena. The “abomination of desolation" spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” will set the stage for the world to experience “then there will be great tribulation.” Jesus is making direct reference to Daniel’s description of the third temple of God being built on the Temple Mount. The Beast or the Little Horn will defile the temple and stop all worship of the Living God and direct all worship to himself, as if he were God. The Apostle Paul also refers to this in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4. It is at this point in His discourse that Jesus makes reference to the solar eclipse and the blood moons happening before He raptures the Church and comes to earth again (Matthew 24:23-31). What should the church be doing in light of all that is happening? What is God trying to say to us? I believe Jesus made that abundantly clear. First let me tell what He is NOT saying. That is just as important as what He IS saying. Jesus is not saying to His church, “Just hang on, the rapture is coming and I will take you out of this mess.” Jesus is not saying, “The end of the world is coming. Gather all the food and water you can and head for the hills.” I know to many of you this may sound silly, but, I have been around long enough to remember the book and how many Christians were miss led by 88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988, The Feast of Trumpets (Ros-Hash-Ana) September 11-12-13 by Edgar Whisenant. I also remember the tragedy of the Hale-Bopp comet suicide in March 1997. I believe the Holy Scripture teaches that Jesus Christ will rapture His church in the book of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. I believe we are to look for that blessed hope with great anticipation every single day. It should not make us inactive and complacent, exactly the opposite. Jesus described it well in Matthew 24:45-51. We must be faithful and good stewards of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is coming soon! Luke 19:13 our Lord said “Occupy till I come.” Literally, do business, do trade. He has given us assignments that must be completed. The Gospel must be preached in all nations (Matthew 24:14). Your children and grandchildren must be led to Jesus and discipled. Your work place needs to hear the Gospel. Your neighbors and relatives must be won to Jesus Christ. Lift up your eyes. Look to the fields. They are ready for harvest. Yes, we are seeing the signs of His coming. He is coming soon. This weekend may very well be exactly what is described in Revelation 12; I am not an astronomer. I do know four blood moons exactly on four biblical feast days, is God shouting at His church, “Get the job done. I am coming soon!” Awaken Church! This is not a time to be partying with the world or playing with sin. This is not a time to “have a form of godliness but no power.” This is the time for the Church to be waiting on the Lord for a new season of Pentecost and the power of the Holy Spirit, so we can be witnesses unto Him in these closing days time! This is the time for Joel 2:28-29 to be fulfilled in our local churches “that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If you enjoyed this podcast, please consider leaving us a review.
