The Bible commands us to “Be Still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10), but how do we do that? The demands of our daily lives fill our waking hours. Our trust in God can be eroded or even displaced at the centre of our lives as we trust more often in ourselves than in Him. Putting God at the centre of our lives takes practise. Dont be afraid… STOP, CEASE STRIVING, BE STILL and know HE IS GOD! And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." -Matthew 28:18-20  

Today, we turn our attention to Psalm 46:10: "Be still and know that I am God." At first glance, this beloved verse seems tailor-made for a summer centered on rest, especially when it falls on a Thursday - near the end of a busy and demanding week. But, what if our interpretation and understanding of this passage can be a worthwhile spiritual practice while at the same time taking it entirely out of context? Perhaps our answer is found in what drives and motivates us to run ourselves ragged, pushing ourselves to the limit.

The fastest way to exhaustion is through striving. Yet, many of us live that way and don't even know it. God has a good word for us today! Press play and find peace in Him.

It might be the most disobeyed command in all of Scripture. Curious?

We can try to make ourselves look good, can't we? Cover up the blemishes with makeup. Hide the wrinkles. Tuck the fat. Why? If anyone found out that we are not all that, they might . . . they might what? They might condemn us or recognize that we are a bit messier than the polished persona they thought we were. Moving away from task centered faith and relaxing in God's presence

Kasey Shuler is an author and Revelation Wellness Personal Trainer. Her two Bible studies include “Love Beyond Looks: A 5-Week Bible Study on Body Image” and “Rest and Rise: Be Refreshed In Your Work.” Starting with the Word, her mission is to encourage others to know Christ and awaken life through movement and prayer. She enjoys swapping ideas with her husband and creating stories with her daughter in Athens, Georgia. In this interview, Kasey talks about how we should pay attention to what brings us joy. She reminds us that our dreaming begins with resting in the Lord and that this “rest” isn't necessarily about sleep. Our souls also need rest and the place we find that is in Him. In doing so, we can let go of our striving and focus on Him, learning to rest in Him and trust Him for the outcome. For those of us who've been hard-charging for years, we may have to LEARN to rest and PRACTICE it often to see the fruit in our lives.
