Austin Cohen, Founder and CEO of FlexIt Fitness, sits down with Chase to discuss how he was able to keep the momentum going for his “a-la-carte digital fitness solution” in spite of the many setbacks and distractions throughout the past two years. In fact, he says that it is the challenges themselves which incentivized him and his team at FlexIt to think up cutting-edge solutions that they never would have in the old, familiar normal. The company's focus, says Austin, has always been on “broadening access, of helping people understand that they can experience things that maybe they previously felt to be prohibitively costly, prohibitively inaccessible, or uncomfortable or intimidating.” He says that one of the keys to being able to adapt to the situation at hand and adopt new ways of doing things is by staying determined to achieve the same goals one might have for their health and fitness, but being willing to consider options that may be outside one's comfort zone. Austin points to three major developments that the pandemic has spurred on within the fitness industry (and how FlexIt has capitalized on them): livestreaming, pre-recorded content, and hardwire. “None of those categories are new,” he notes. “They just became more widely adopted, more widely marketed, and put in front of our faces more than they ever have been before.” Finally, Austin talks about some of the unique opportunities that virtual training can offer to fitness professionals, and why conducting successful online sessions as a coach is a radically different beast from training clients in-person. Life is fragile and it's taken away from people all the time. This truth is what keeps functional medicine practitioner Dr. Will Cole in a more expansive state of gratitude and compassion every single day. He believes that finding balance and rooting ourselves in the present moment is what will help us thrive in life. “Reconnecting with your intuition and the planet is the most progressive thing you can do,” Will says. “Making your life the lab, that's really the art of wellness.” In this discussion, Will and Chase break down the meaning behind ‘the art of being well' and the role of intuition in health and wellness. For years, brain enthusiasts and performance coaches have been striving to find ways to assess human health with nothing more than their brain waves. As an outcome of their strenuous efforts, technology has opened doors to that humongous possibility – of analyzing the state of the human brain at any point to see what you need to do to perform better! One star performer in brain health technology is Wave Neuroscience -- and we're diving into the lessons from their advancement today. Meet Ned Mason, retired Navy SEAL Commander and now Chief Operating Officer at Wave Neuroscience, as he joins Chase on a special LIVE demo episode of Ever Forward Radio. Wave Neuroscience is a company that develops technologies to help you understand your brain without pharmaceuticals or invasive procedures. Today, Ned performs Wave Neuroscience's brain assessment on Chase, measuring the frequencies of his brain waves alpha, theta, and delta, and touring his brain health using the measured parameters. He provides a detailed breakdown of the results of his evaluation (Chase's brain care report and brain synchrony score) and explains what each brain wave tells about behavioral and lifestyle traits like the effectiveness of sleep, learning style, and grasping speed. Maxx and Chase return to talk about their ten-plus year journey in the world of fitness. The younger Chewning kicks things off by reflecting on his love for fitness. He only started lifting after he was spurred on by his bros in college to hit the gym. It didn't take long for Maxx's total disinterest to turn into a daily non-negotiable. “It was something that I made fun of, then got into. It literally changed my entire life.” Now over a decade into the game, Maxx looks back at the many accomplishments he's garnered as a powerlifter. He says he's just about ready to retire from powerlifting now that he's on the verge of hitting numbers that few at his age and in his weight class have matched. Overall, Maxx and Chase agree that community has become a stronger priority over hitting PR after PR. Maxx shares how he aims to approach his gym sessions moving forward. Our outer world is a direct reflection of our inner world, and optimal health is all about adopting the right habits that support those two worlds. It all starts with the self-awareness and openness to change embodied in Ayurvedic medicine. It's a healing system which teaches us that change is an intrinsic quality in nature, and so why shouldn't we see that reality of continuous change in ourselves? In other words, Ayurveda teaches us to turn to nature for wisdom on how we, as human beings, should discern what's best for our life. When we experience symptoms of any kind, whether internally or externally, it is an indicator that we are not in harmony with the world around us, or with ourselves. From how we've been eating and sleeping to how we've been managing our relationships and career—all of these things either support or weaken our health. Listen in and learn how we can adopt the principles of Ayurveda to take full control over our life and achieve optimal health. Dr. Avanti is an internationally recognized speaker and thought leader in Ayurveda. She works with women (and men) who are ready to take back their health and replenish their mental, physical, and emotional energy so they can live a vibrant life filled with more joy, meaning and purpose. Science shows us that sex and intimacy are some of the most bonding human experiences of our lives. So… what happens when religion gets thrown into the mix? Kat Harris is here to have an eye-opening discussion about boundaries, consent, monogamy, infidelity, shame, and most prominently, waiting until marriage to have sex. After growing up in the south as a Christian in the peak of the purity movement, Kat moved to New York City and noticed that her thoughts about sex and singleness began to change. She began to question the word of God and why she'd been waiting until marriage to have sex. As more and more women of faith become burdened with sexual shame, feeling unequipped to confidently explore both the dating world and the world of singleness, Kat is on a mission to free them of their shackles and help them discover their own sexual freedom. Listen in to gain insight into her journey with dating, desire, and sex, and to learn if (after all her research and inquisition) she's still waiting until marriage. Today's conversation is a sobering deep dive into the highly controversial but crucial subject that is the COVID-19 vaccine, featuring Jonathan Baktari MD. Dr. Baktari is the CEO of e7 Health, a Las Vegas-based company focused on preventative health and wellness. He kicks off the conversation with a high-level explanation of exactly what a vaccine is. The goal of a vaccine, he says, is to take advantage of the immune system's strengths by “tricking” the body. The body is injected with a portion of a germ, whether that germ is a virus or bacteria. The dose is small enough to get the body to detect the germ, thereby training the immune system to become efficient at fighting it while minimizing the damage it could have done to the body if the germ were “whole”. Dr. Baktari and Chase go on to unpack the trickiest questions the world is now faced with as in navigating the ever-evolving COVID-19 crisis—from how to interpret official data, to the issue of personal freedom versus the common good, to the under-addressed and overlooked public health issue that is a lack of education on prevention. Joe Percoco is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Titan, which he refers to as “a premier investment firm, but for everyone.” Titan is Joe's response to Wall Street's reputation for catering almost exclusively to the ultra-wealthy. His team is dedicated to the long-term growth of investors' capital by following their “time-tested investment philosophy: identifying the rare species of stocks known as “compounders” and holding on tight.” Listen in as Joe offers some high-level wisdom on the world of finance and why it's crucial to think like an owner instead of a gambler in the investment world. Asked about the necessity of risk in the investment world, Joe refers to the well-known saying: “Ships weren't meant to stay in the harbor.” Hard-earned cash is not meant to be stuffed under your bed. Anybody who wants to grow their wealth has to take risks in the market. In fact, adopting this attitude toward investing forges a mindset that sees opportunity even in a downturn in the economy. It is a mindset that gets you to say, “Let's deploy every ship we've got ashore, because this is an amazing time to buy and invest.” Joe also explains Titan's unique vision-mission as an investment firm and his expectations for the future of the industry. For transgender activist Precious Brady-Davis, her turning point came when she realized that she had to love herself first before she would be able to open her heart and attract those who could truly love her. “People can't give you what you don't have.”, she says. Having grown up in the Pentecostal faith, she recalls her seemingly endless struggle with being othered by her own religious circle for being a biracial, gender-nonconforming kid. But the same “neglect, instability, and abandonment” that she experienced daily as a child only fueled her determination to find acceptance—even if it meant stepping away from her faith community. Her journey led her to become what she is today: “A trans woman fully actualized, absolutely confident, and precious.” She lives with her husband Myles—who is transmasculine—and infant daughter Zayn. In July 2021, Precious released her memoir, I Have Always Been Me, in which she looks back on 35 years that began with immense trauma, and how she was able to turn it all around. In 2012, Ken Cook, President of Environmental Working Group (EMG) presented a 22-minute talk called “10 Americans”. In it, he shares EMG's research on ten individuals across the country to determine how dependent a person's toxic load was on where they lived. What they found was that these ten Americans had over 200 cancer-causing chemicals in them that could potentially lead to infertility, thyroid problems, and autoimmune conditions. Other than the toxins themselves, there was only one commonality shared by every individual in this study: All ten of these Americans were still in the womb. A decade later, we're being barraged by more harmful chemicals in our everyday lives than ever before. What can we do to start lowering our “toxic bucket” today? Dr. Mindy Pelz is a holistic health and fasting expert. Her tips on fasting and alternative health can be found on her YouTube channel as well as the podcast she founded and hosts, The Resetter Podcast. Dr. Pelz is the author of three bestselling books The Menopause Reset, The Reset Factor, and The Reset Kitchen. Dr. Pelz is also the founder of Family Life Wellness (formerly Family Life Chiropractic), a biohacking center in the Bay Area focused on speeding up the healing process and maximizing performance. Listen in as Dr. Pelz shares how to lower your toxic bucket in the modern world, how fasting can nip chronic disease in the bud, why experiencing symptoms such as fever or mucus buildup is actually your body's innate healing mechanism in action, and why addressing immunocompromisation is far more important to ending the pandemic than vaccines and lockdowns. Follow Dr. Pelz @dr.mindypelz Follow Chase @chase_chewning Key Highlights Toxins are seeping into our environment and into our bodies, contributing to rising infertility. What exactly are the reasons for this alarming rise in infertility? What is our “toxic bucket” and how do we keep it low as we live our day-to-day lives? Dr. Pelz explains how fasting can overcome the toxins that barrage us daily and contribute to weight loss, mental energy, clarity, and sleep.
