Toenail Fungus Treatment For Runners Tips on treating toenail fungus (onchomycosis). This video is great for all types of endurance athletes such as triathletes, ultra runners, distance runners, marathoners, and cyclists. A fungal nail infection is a common condition that can leave you with brittle, discolored nails, which is usually on your toes. It is very common for trail runners. Toe nail fungus is a lot like athlete's foot. But instead of affecting the skin on the bottom of your feet or between your toes, it invades your nails. The FDA has approved the use of tolnaftate for the treatment and prevention of athlete's foot and ringworm for over 50 years. Tolnaftate is used in well over 70 products worldwide. Formula 3 is not a suspension compound like many other products. The product has received the American Podiatric Medical Association's Seal of Approval. For best results, It is recommended to apply fast-acting, quick-absorbing Formula 3® Antifungal after taking a shower when the skin has the greatest capacity for absorption. Common types of toe nail fungus: A yeast toenail infection is usually white, a mold infection is generally a dull brown, and a dermatophyte infection is generally yellow.

Toenail fungus is something that a lot of people deal with, but not a lot of people like to talk about. In this video, I cover 8 different natural remedies that can help reduce your toenail fungus from the outside and the inside. A lot of people don't know that toenail fungus is usually due to a problem inside the body. There could be problems inside of your gut right now, and you wouldn't even know it! This is why natural solutions like a gut reset or apple cider vinegar work so well. If you're reading this, it's probably not because you love toenail fungus. It it also probably not because you think black toenails are pretty. In fact, you probably think both are pretty gross and you would be right. But this bruised black toenails and toenail fungus joining the party is mostly preventable. All runners should understand the circumstances that can put you at risk of getting a fungus infection in the nail which runners call "toenail fungus," or which doctors call "onychomycosis." It is often the fungus that actually causes the skin infection called athlete's foot. It's very, very common. Fungus is all over the place! Don't freak out, but it's probably in your shoes right now! Whether or not the fungal spores and fungal filaments will cause an infection on your feet, just depends upon the circumstances that you set up as a runner that actually allow it to get in and cause real trouble. How can a bruised toenail from running cause toenail fungus? Well, that's what we're talking about today on the Doc On The Run podcast.

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Anonymous: I have HSV-1 (genital) and used to have a flare up once a year, then when I developed a Candida problem it has been 3-4 times a year. After getting the covid vaccine, I am now having outbreaks every 2-4 weeks. For the last 6 months I have completely changed my diet to mostly meat and veggies to keep the right ratio of lysine/arginine in my body. I drink acv with gse and cayenne daily. I run three times a week, get enough sleep, take a multivitamin, etc. I cannot figure out what else this increase in outbreaks is from without linking it to when I got vaccinated. I have a stressful job but have had that stress for years so that is not something recent. I feel like I am starting to become depressed with how often I am going through these outbreaks. Do you have any other recommendations or have you heard of the vaccine being linked to more frequent outbreaks at all? I love your podcast and appreciate any advice you have. Shelly: Hi Doc! Thrilled to have this resource to guide my health. Thank you for your selflessness. I am hoping you can help me with the supplements I am taking. I feel I am double-dipping and not taking them at correct times but it's easiest to take them after I break my fast with a smoothie. I am a 44-yr-old female, 5'5”, 130 lbs, very healthy lifestyle. I strength train 3 days/week, HIIT 2 days, rest 2 days. My workouts are 30 min/day. I start my day with a smoothie: almond milk, DNS & lots of fruits and veggies. I am almost 100% DF and GF. I get 7½-9 ½ hrs sleep/night and fall asleep within 2 min. I fast from 7:30pm-11:30am most days & do one 24-hour fast/mo. I was diagnosed with RA 3 years ago and changed my nutrition immediately. I found out 2 yrs ago that I have a hole in my heart that I was probably born with. 14 years ago I began getting 1 ocular migraine every 2 years. Weird. I haven't had one in 2-3 years now. I take Pure Curcumin 500 with Biopterin & Vitamin D3 5,000, Nordic Omega 330 EPA/220 HHA, St. Joseph's Aspirin 81m, Magnesium Oxide 500 mg Zinc 15+by Kal, Equilife mushroom pills. What are your thoughts on my situation? Am I taking too much or not enough of something? Thank you so much. Deanna: hi Dr. Cabral, I had some recent blood work done and it came back with low ferritin and low white blood count. My herbalist said to get a covid antibody test which may account for the low white blood cells. That test was negative. I am wondering what other causes might be? In addition, I also have had a lot of random bruising which seems to have mysteriously started since my partner received his vaccine. I have not taken it myself. On a side note, you have answered my question about fever blisters in the past. I have determined that I would get them any time I was in the vicinity of a cell tower. I started researching EMF sensitivity and found that glutathione and NAC are both helpful for mitigating the effects of EMFs. I have not had one fever blister since taking these two supplements. Coincidence? thank you for you podcast! Deanna Ryan: I've been suffering from severe toenail fungus for well over a year. I've done OAT + mycotoxin combo testing and both showed perfect results. Low/normal yeast, fungal, and mold levels. I've been following a healthy diet & lifestyle for years, have done the CBO protocol in full, and continued to follow the diet template in that protocol for the past 1 year since completing it. I've tried foot soaks, topical creams, ointments, essential oils, and literally dozens of proposed toenail fungus remedies and can't beat this thing. I've done extensive ozone (rectal + topical), h202 therapy, IV vitamin C, nail fungus laser removal, and more. Nothing has worked to eliminate the toenail fungus. I don't have any other symptoms or fungal issues anywhere in/on my body (that I know of). I am at the point of trying oral itraconazole or terbinafine. I have been reluctant up until this point due to potential side effects, but I feel I have exhausted virtually all-natural health options and they do have a high success rate. I'm not looking for any medical advice, simply your personal opinion on oral anti-fungal drugs and what you would do in this situation (hypothetically speaking of course). Lily: Hi Dr.Cabral, Do you have any advice regarding back acne in male adults? My husband has been experiencing a lot of acne all over his back, shoulders, and chest. Some are very deep, and some are blackheads. We have tried soaps for sensitive skins and also acne body washes and spray that contains salicylic acid. Could it be something in his diet? I tried to search your podcast but could not find anything on this specific subject. Thank you so much for your time and your wonderful podcast! Chelsea: Hi Dr. Cabral! Fellow Bostonian living down under in Australia. Sharing your podcast far and wide down here! Thanks for all you do - you're truly amazing at what you do, and so generous to share such in-depth knowledge with the community! I just started the limited yeast protocol after reviewing my labs with your team. Leading up to now I've often used a high quality flavourless collagen protein/beef gelatin powder made of bovine hides (see below for link) as I'm mostly plant based but struggle to digest plant proteins. Would this disrupt the CBO/limited yeast protocol or hinder my results? I often put in smoothies as I like that it's tasteless which I like, but don't want to compromise my results. I take the daily nutritional support separately in a little shake with water as I like the fresh unflavoured taste of fresh fruit and veg in a smoothie. Also just curious why things like nuts, seeds, red meat, and bone broth aren't allowed during limited yeast protocol as I wouldn't have associated them with high yeast! Thanks again for all you do and for the time you spend sharing with the community! Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men's Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there. In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer are joined by guest Dr. Andrew Cassidy of Lone Star Podiatry to talk more about our feet! Today, Dr. Cassidy tries to help Dr. Mistry solve the problem of his four boys' stinky feet! According to Dr. Cassidy, foot fungus is both common and surprisingly difficult to treat. Fungus obviously thrives in dark, damp environments like shoes, which makes it likely to reoccur. Toenail fungus is also pernicious. Because the fungus itself grows up through the nail, topical solutions applied to the nails often fail to penetrate deeply enough to truly eradicate the problem. Oral anti-fungal medications like Lamisil work better, but come with their own concerns, like liver toxicity levels that have to be monitored. At Lone Star Podiatry, Dr. Cassidy does "pulse dosing" of oral anti-fungals which lower the risk of toxic accumulation while boosting effectiveness. There are also great over-the-counter treatment options like Dr. Cassidy's favorite astringent, anti-fungal powder, which can be sprinkled in the shoes. Using moisture-wicking socks made of synthetic materials like Lycra and spandex is also helpful in cutting bacterial and fungal growth. Finally, machines like SteriShoe are ultraviolet lights that kill bacteria when placed in the shoes to keep you from re-infecting yourself with foot fungus once you've tackled the source. While foot and toenail fungus seems like a non-threatening (if exceedingly icky) issue, these kinds of problems can be very dangerous for the elderly, people with compromised immune systems, and diabetics. Infections that cause wounds can be difficult to heal and can then spread to bones, which DON'T heal, but must then be cut out, causing even more risks. If you or someone you love has foot fungus, foot pain, or any other foot concerns, please call Dr. Cassidy at Lone Star Podiatry at (512) 263-5454 or online at lonestarpodiatry.com. Join The Healthy Rebellion Please Subscribe and Review: Apple Podcasts | RSS Submit your questions for the podcast here Show Notes: News topic du jour: Green tea extract only affects markers of oxidative status postprandially: lasting antioxidant effect of flavonoid-free diet* In conclusion, GTE incorporated into meat patties in doses realistic for addition to processed foods only leads to a short-term change in plasma antioxidant capacity and has no long-term effects on oxidation parameters within the blood or urine compartments in smokers or in non-smokers. The study can therefore be seen as a 10 weeks controlled study with dietary depletion of all food antioxidants derived from fruits and vegetables, except for carrots and potatoes. During the depletion we observed a decrease in oxidative damage to proteins, DNA, and lipids, concomitantly with a major reduction in plasma ascorbate and minor changes in other vitamins and in anti- oxidant enzyme activities. We speculate that these seem- ingly positive effects on oxidative status are partly due to depletion of some pro-oxidant compounds co-existing with vitamin C in fruits and vegetables and this underlines the general lack of solid knowledge of the mechanisms by which a diet rich in fruits and vegetables cause a decrease in the risk of chronic diseases. 1. Potassium intake as it relates to Insulin resistance, metabolic disorders and NAFLD [22:41] Deirdre says: Hi Robb, I stumbled upon a couple of journals that state there is a link between hypokalemia and IR, metabolic disorders and NAFLD, of which I have (all of them). I have a difficult time losing weight, even when following healthy eating to a T. I've been tracking my food on myfitnesspal for a month, and upon reflection, I'm not getting NEARLY enough potassium every day. Sodium doesn't seem to be an issue. I salt my food pretty well. I do magnesium soaks once or twice a week. Can you touch on this subject a bit more, and maybe make some recommendations on how to hit that 4700 mg mark for potassium daily? Even with eating a large amount of veggies and protein, it's still a difficult number to hit. Dried herbs like chervil, parsley, basil and tarragon seem to be my best bets, but it's difficult to get 100g of dried herbs in a day. LOL. Thanks, Deidre 1/2lb steak 800mg 1 avocado 1,000mg 1oz nuts 200mg 2. Hormone Replacement Therapy - Good? Bad? [27:22] Marianna says: I'm a 69 YO. I'm a post menopausal female, who a little over a year ago started HRT about 18 months ago. I used bio identical HRT for the first 7 years after menopause then in keeping with recommendations went off it for about 11 years. My goal in retirement is to be as mentally and physically healthy as possible for as long as I possibly can. I'm quite active, exercise daily including cardio and strength training with yoga thrown in. Through IF and low carb eating I've recently lost 25 pounds and am5'6" and 155 lbs. The HRT I 'm using is administered via bio identical pellets every 4th month with oral progesterone taken daily. My decision to go back to HRT was prompted by reading Avrum Blooming's book Estrogen Matters. It was recently reinforced by reading Lisa Mosconi's book The XX Brain. Now finally to my question! Am I doing myself harm or good or just wasting my money (I can afford it) by seeking HRT at my age? As far as noticeable health benefits the main thing I notice is my skin looks a lot better. Effect of menopausal hormone therapy on components of the metabolic syndrome 3. Toenail fungus [31:52] Bradley says: Hello Robb and Nicki, About a year ago the middle toe toenail on my left foot curled on the right side of the toe and I noticed there was fungus under the toenail. There was no pain and did not seem to be a problem. During this past summer, I went to the doctor for my regular annual blood draw and showed the doc the toenail. She said it is just cosmetic and is not an issue unless it spreads. Also, she said the only thing that can be done is take some pills, which she said is very hard on the liver, for several months until it clears, and recommended that I do not take the medication unless the fungus spreads. Then, in October/November, I noticed fungus behind the big toe toenail on my right foot. The toenail on my right foot did not curl, but, it has more of a lumpy feel and I can see the white fungus growth underneath the toenail. I still have zero pain on either foot and not sure if it is even a big concern. However, considering a conventional doctor is reluctant to put me on the medication because of the potential side effects, do you happen to know of anything else that can be done? I have tried the foot baths with tea tree oil and other foot soaks and toenail ointments and they are not working. I have found some docs on the internet recommending special diets for around 6 months or more, but they all vary somewhat (have not attempted yet). Also, found a somewhat fringe treatment by ingesting sugar and turpentine (have not tried this either). Supposedly, the sugar attracts the parasite or fungus or whatever and the turpentine eliminates it and you just shit it all out. Thank you both very much. 4. High BUN: should I be concerned? [39:07] William says: Hi Robb and Nicki, Over 5 years of taking annual bloodwork, I have found that my BUN is consistently high (30-35 mg/dL). I’ve had my own theories as to why, so see if am I on the right track with this line of thinking: 1. I’ve been a daily sauna user for the past 5 years, which could lead to dehydration and elevated urea in the blood. I drink at least a liter of water during and after, and probably an additional 1-2 L around dinner time. Total daily liquids averages 4-5L. I salt my food heavily and take Mg and K supplements, but don’t measure total electrolytes 2. I tend to eat most of my protein at night (100-150g), with a half coming in the form of plant-based protein powders 3. The blood tests are always taken first thing in the morning, so it’s possible I’m still dehydrated from the night’s of sleep, combined with the high protein intake. I don’t normally drink a lot of water upon waking because I don’t feel thirsty, although thanks to LMNT I’m starting to change that :-) My doctor is concerned about my high BUN and an increase in chance to develop gout and kidney damage. He has advised me to reduce my protein intake. However, my avg daily protein is 150g, and as an active 165lb man, that number seems safe and appropriate. Have you looked much into BUN in people on paleo/keto diets with high protein? Are my numbers way out of whack and dangerous? Or is high BUN less of a concern in the context of a clean diet and low systemic inflammation? Could there be something else going on to contribute to this consistently high BUN? Or is it as simple is spreading my protein intake more evenly throughout the day instead of one large bolus at night? Any thoughts and insights you have would be very helpful! Thanks! William 5. Where In The World to Live? [44:24] Keri says: Hi guys! Huge fan since way back in the day. Love the podcast and am grateful for all you do. I have a weird, possibly not typical question, but value your opinions and feel like it’s relevant and something you might have an opinion on. Anyway... My family has been working towards moving to a small, debt-free, self-sufficient farm since 2009. We’re currently ready to start looking to buy. We grew up on farms/ranches and have years of experience. We’re into regenerative agriculture, pasture raised animals etc. We also homeschool all of our kids. My question is: we can move anywhere, considering political climates, taxes, cultural/social environment, health freedoms, homeschool laws, ag environment (ie I don’t want to live right next to poison sprayed conventional fields, but need a decent growing environment) and all of the things to ponder in choosing where to live long term in this crazy world, what states would you choose? I’m super curious if you guys have thoughts. Strategic Relocation, North American Guide to Safe Places, Fourth Edition Share the episode! Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! Schedule A FREE CONSULTATION http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 Toenail fungus is very common. You may have many questions about it. What is it? Do I have toenail fungus? What are the causes? Can it be prevented? How do you treat toenail fungus? Here, we will answer all the questions you might have, as briefly as possible. What is Toenail Fungus? Toenail fungus is an infection on the toenail caused by fungus. Your toenail may change in color to yellow or brown. It may also change its shape, lift or crumble. What causes toenail fungus are microorganisms called dermatophytes. They thrive in warm and moist environments like sweaty socks and shoes, communal showers, gym locker rooms, or public pools. Once a person is infected, it can spread to another person. Other risks are nail injury or underlying diseases that weaken the immune system. How can toenail fungus be prevented? This can be done by maintaining proper foot hygiene. Wash and dry your feet regularly and trim your toenails properly. Also avoid walking barefoot around public pools and gym showers. And because the infection can spread from person to person, do not share personal care items like socks, towels, nail clippers, or nail files. When you visit a podiatrist, they can recommend possible treatment options. There are topical treatments, oral medication, as well as laser treatment. The PinPointe Laser is the most effective type of treatment for toenail fungus. This achieves the highest success rate without any side effects. It is quick and painless where you can go back to your normal activities right after the treatment. This treatment allows your nail to grow back healthy and fungus free. So, do you want to know why you have certain persistent problems with things like ringworm, toenail fungus, and athlete’s foot? All of these are caused by a fungus that can spread and grow like crazy and last for years and years. It is caused mainly by the Candida species, so there is also a good chance you have Candida if any of these are plaguing your body. But the good news is cultured foods can help with this problem. Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! Schedule A FREE CONSULTATION http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 Fungal nail infections are caused by the overgrowth of fungi in the nail, on the surface of the nail, or between the nail and the nail bed. It is most common in warm, moist environments because this is the type of environment where fungi thrive. This causes the fungi to overpopulate, therefore causing an infection. Fungi can be found everywhere in the environment, even on the body. The fungi that’s already present on the body can cause these infections. You can get the infection when you come in contact with someone who already has a fungal infection. Getting pedicures can also cause toenail fungus if the tools used are not sanitized. Pedicure tools such as clippers and emery boards can spread fungus from person to person Many factors contribute to getting toenail fungus. The following are risk factors that increase your chances of fungal infections: diabetes, poor circulation, old age, wearing acrylic nails, public swimming pools, nail injury, sweaty feet, weak immune system, and tight-fitting shoes. Symptoms of toenail fungus include thickening of the nail, yellow or brown discoloration, foul odor, brittleness or nail falling off. If you have toenail fungus or its symptoms, consult a podiatrist right away to get it treated. Toenail fungus does not go away on its own, so ignoring it will only make it worse. Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! Schedule A FREE CONSULTATION http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 You are at risk of toenail fungus when you get pedicures at a nail salon. That risk is highly reliant on the nail salon’s sanitation. The potential problems with pedicures are communal foot baths, pedicure tools, and your nail technician. Yeasts, molds, bacteria, and fungi thrive and multiply in warm, damp environments. Many nail salons use jacuzzi type foot baths that can be difficult to clean. If the foot bath is not cleaned and disinfected between customers, you would be at a high risk of toenail fungus . Poor training of nail technicians can put you at risk because some nail technicians lack training in sanitation techniques. Tools need to be sanitized before every use to make sure no infection can be transferred from one person to the other. The next time you get a pedicure, make sure to choose a safe nail salon. There are different factors to consider when choosing a nail salon. Check the nail salon’s credentials before going in for a pedicure. Check if it is approved by the state’s health department. Also check the nail technicians credentials. Certified technicians studied in approved cosmetology schools and have completed 500 to over 1000 hours of practice. These nail technicians are educated on how to sanitize tools and best practices to prevent toenail fungus. Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! Schedule A FREE CONSULTATION http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 Laser Treatment with the PinPointe Foot Laser is one of the most effective ways to cure toenail fungus. What the laser does is kill the fungus that is present at the time of your treatment. After your treatment, you can resume your normal day to day activities. However, it is important to follow post treatment care. These are things that you need to do in order to prevent reinfection. If you would like to wear nail polish, we recommend using an antifungal nail polish. Buy new nail clippers. Your old nail clippers may have been infected with the fungus since you’ve been using them while your nails were infected. When going to a salon, make sure their instruments are clean, or bring your own tools. Keep your toenails clean and trimmed. In public places such as hotels, swimming pools, or the gym, make sure to wear flip-flops or any type of foot wear to protect your feet and toenails Post treatment care products are also important. These products will protect your nails from fungus in the environment and help maintain the results of your treatment. Antifungal Shoe Spray - Disinfect your shoes daily to kill all the fungus that may have accumulated in your shoes Antifungal cream - Apply to the skin around your nails, between your toes, and bottom and sides of the feet. This will prevent any fungal infection on the skin (like athlete’s foot). Antifungal Solution - This is applied to the nails daily, to shield your nails. If you have nail fungus or it’s symptoms, give us a call at (800) 672-0625 to schedule a Free Consultation with our doctors or visit our website at http://www.lasernailtherapy.com
Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! Schedule A FREE CONSULTATION http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 Athlete's foot, also known as tinea pedis, is a type of fungal infection found on the feet and usually begins between the toes. It is commonly acquired by people who have sweaty feet usually trapped in shoes. It is very common in athletes, thus the name. It appears as a scaly rash that is usually itchy and has a stinging or burning sensation. Because it is very contagious, it can spread easily through towels or clothing. Athlete’s foot is caused by the same fungus that causes ringworm, jock itch, and toenail fungus. To treat the infection, over the counter antifungal medications are usually recommended. Some types of athlete's foot cause blisters or ulcers, and there are some varieties that cause dryness and scaling on the soles to the sides of the feet. Because the fungus spreads easily, it can spread to the toes and cause toenail fungus. If an athlete's foot is not treated right away, it can only get worse and spread to the toenails causing it to be discolored and thicken. Once it reaches the toenails, it can be more difficult to treat that otc medications will not be able to fix. In order to prevent these conditions, you should avoid its common causes. Fungus thrives in moist, dark environments. I order to avoid fungus to thrive in your toes, change your socks regularly and wear proper fitting shoes that are not too tight. You should also protect your feet in public places where fungus is common, such as public pools and showers. If you have nail fungus or it’s symptoms, give us a call at (800) 672-0625 to schedule a Free Consultation with our doctors or visit our website at http://www.lasernailtherapy.com
Laser Nail Therapy - Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 Fungal toenails is one of the most common issues why people visit a podiatrist. Fungi can infect the nail after an injury or trauma from playing sports such as football or basketball. As an athlete, you can be highly susceptible to a fungal infection. Another reason to get a fungal infection is the environment your toenails are in. The shoes you wear is the perfect environment for fungus to thrive. It is usually moist and warm due to sweat. The problem is, if you get fungus in your toenails, it can be very difficult to get rid of. It is almost impossible to treat it without professional help. If you ignore the problem, it will just get worse and more difficult to treat. And because the infection starts small, you might not notice it right away until it is too late. Common treatment options that are readily available are topical treatments such as antifungal creams or solutions. These topical treatments may seem easy but it is not very effective. Another option is oral medication. This type of treatment is more effective than topicals, but it has harmful side effects. Antifungal pills can cause liver damage, stomach issues, and skin rashes. The most effective way to eradicate a fungal infection of the toenails is with laser treatment. In our clinics, we use the FDA approve PinPointe Laser. This is the most effective laser in the market, and does not harm the nail or the surrounding skin nor cause any dangerous side effects.. Laser Nail Therapy - Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 Prevention is more important than getting treatment for Toenail Fungus. Fungi is present everywhere and they thrive in warm, dark, moist environments - like the inside of your shoe. Several factors increase your risk of getting a fungal infection. This includes, having athlete’s foot and wearing the wrong size shoe. Here are habits can prevent Toenail Fungus: Clipping toenails correctly - Trim your toenails using sanitized nail clippers or scissors. Cut the nail straight across. Wear proper-fitting shoes - don't wear shoes that are too tight or too big. Tight shoes cause trauma to the nails, making it susceptible to a fungal infection. Wear breathable footwear - if your nails have room to breathe, this allows air to circulate around your toes. This keeps your nail dry and less inviting to nail fungus. Switch shoes from time to time - You shouldn’t wear the same shoe 2 days in a row. Wearing damp shoe increases your risk of getting a toenail fungal infection. Avoid walking around barefoot in public areas. Protect your toes by wearing flip flops Disinfect your feet regularly - wash your feet with soap and water then dry them completely Use antifungal shoe spray to kill the fungus that might be living in your shoes If you have nail fungus or it’s symptoms, give us a call at (800)672-0625 to schedule a Free Consultation with our doctors or visit our website at http://www.lasernailtherapy.com

Laser Nail Therapy - Cure Your Nail Fungus Today! http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 Footwear is a very important factor in your feet’s health. What shoes you wear can cause foot problems such as toenail fungus! If you want to learn why, continue watching this video. Ill fitting shoes can result in complications for the feet since they are essential to providing muscular and skeletal support for your body. The wrong shoe can cause calluses, blisters, ingrown toenails and nail fungus! Prevent a toenail fungus infections by picking out shoes that give your feet room to sit in comfortably. If your shoes are too tight your feet has no room to breathe and can make the fungus spread easily. Our podiatrist recommends at least a thumb’s length of space between the tip of your big toe and the end of the shoe. The best time of the day to buy shoes is in the evening. Throughout the day, walking and standing causes your feet to swell. So your feet are at its biggest size in the evening. If you buy a shoe in the morning, your shoes might be too tight later in the day. Along with shoes you should also wear socks to keep your feet dry. This is because shoes are dark and moist environments that can accumulate fungus spores. If you sweat a lot, there are athletic socks designed to keep feet dry especially when doing sports or exercise. In addition, you should know when to replace your shoes. Shoes should be replaced when the soles are worn down. For running shoes, the rule of thumb is to replace them every 400 miles or at least once a year. Toenail Fungus & Athlete's Foot - What you can do TODAY to treat it!
Runners often get dark discoloration in the toenails. That discoloring can happen after long runs, trail runs, wearing ill-fitting running shoes or trauma. The question is whether or not the dark brown, blue or black area in the toenail is just a bruise or something more ominous. If you get a bruise under the toenail, it will gradually get better. If you get toenail fungus, it will gradually get worse. Today on the Doc On the Run podcast we're talking about how a runner can tell a bruise under the toenail from toenail fungus.

There are several different ways an innocent, unsuspecting person can develop toenail fungus. Onychomycosis, or as most people without a PhD call it, toenail fungus, can creep it’s way into the nail through mold or even through obtaining a yeast infection in the toenail! No matter how you catch toenail fungus, almost always, the infections are often created through warm, wet environments which give the fungus a comfortable breeding ground to grow and expand, often infecting neighboring toes and fingers. Areas like saunas, swimming pools, locker rooms, gyms, even household showers are all hot spots for fungal infections to flourish. Just being in the same environment or shambling about the area can result with you developing the fungus as well! Why toes, you may ask? What about toes and toenails make them so susceptible to the fungus? Good question. Toes tend to be more vulnerable to the fungus due to the lack of circulation in the feet rather than the hands. Also, the moist, warm, darkness of your sneakers and tennis shoes are the perfect breeding ground for the fungus to grow. So unless you’ve been wearing shoes on your hands lately, your hands have a less likely chance to develop the fungus. But they can catch it! No one is immune to toenail fungus, anyone can catch it from your high school PE teacher to the president, but older adults are more at risk along with the elderly due to the decreased blood circulation to the feet. Also, as we continue to age, our nails tend to get thick making us more open to the possibility of nail infections. Did you know men are more at risk to toenail fungus infections than women? Even worse, this tendency can be passed genetically! Something to keep in mind ladies, next time you’re having the baby talk with your man, don’t forget to give his feet a good look over before you decide anything!
Toenail fungus is an infection that gets in through cracks in your nail or cuts in your skin. It can make your toenail change color or get thicker. It can also hurt. Because toes are often warm and damp, fungus grows well there. Different kinds of fungi and sometimes yeast affect different parts of the nail. Left untreated, an infection could spread to other toenails, skin, or even your fingernails. Men are more likely to get it than women. The older you are, the better your chances are, too. People who have diabetes, athlete’s foot, or a weak immune system, who smoke, or whose family members have it are also at a higher risk. If you spend a lot of time in the water or you’ve injured your toenail, your odds for getting toenail fungus go up. For more information, please contact our office at 4715 Pine St. Philadelphia, PA 19143 (800) 672-0625 for free consultation
There are several treatments out there that claim they will cure your toenail fungus. These treatments range from home remedies to costly medical procedures performed by doctors or dermatologists. Unfortunately, home remedies have low success rates with no official records released based on their efficiency. And the medical treatments that boast of high cure rates come with a flashy price tag. So what can you do to cure your own nails of this infection? You could start the lengthy process of attempting to treat your own nails with a home remedy, or you could spend an arm and a leg trying to go the medical route. Or you could simply start eating right! Sounds too good to be true? It’s not! You will need to start by cutting back on your intake and consumption of sugars and simple carbohydrates. Sugar and simple carbs can greatly affect your immune system, weakening it feeding the fungai further. Another thing you can do is start ingesting cultured products and foods which contain “friendly” bacteria. This bacteria will actually help fight off the fungus mano y mano. The bacteria will prevent the growth of the fungus and help fight off any existing fungus, so long as you keep this diet regimen up! Try to discard all foods that promote mucus like diary and heavy meats. Drop soda and processed foods along with anything fatty or fried. And start adding lots of garlic to your daily meals! Garlic helps neutralize most fungi, and here I always thought they only scared off vampires!
Toenail fungus can infect your nails by making its way through the cracks of your nails and sometimes even the cuts on your skin surrounding the nails. There are several telltale signs of toenail fungus, often times the toenail can change color ranging from yellow, blue, and black, it can cause the nail to become hard and thick making daily maintenance almost impossible, and it can easily distort and directly change the shape of the nail completely. The dark dampness of your shoes are the perfect breeding ground for the fungus to grow making toenails easily susceptible to nail infections rather than our hands. If you leave fungus untreated it can spread to your other nails, hands, and even skin! Did you know men have a higher chance at developing toenail fungus over women? It can even be a trait passed genetically! It has been reported that the older you get, the more at risk you become for developing the fungus as well. People who suffer from weak immune systems, diabetes, smoke, and are in households where the fungus is already present also run a higher risk at obtaining the fungus. If you’ve recently suffered from a toenail or foot injury, or spend a fair amount of time in the water, your odds for infection sky rocket. Take precaution now, be proactive! Never walk barefoot in public, wear flip flops in public locker rooms and showers, and always bring your own nail polish whenever you. get your nails done at the salon! http://www.lasernailtherapy.com (800) 672-0625 It can often be frustrating when you want to rid yourself of an infection and end up wasting your time when it doesn’t work. People with nail fungus know all about this. The time it takes to get rid of nail fungus can really seem like an endless battle. This is because the majority of treatment options on the market take a lot of time to use and require of lot of patience in doing so. For example topical medications must continuously be used and applied for the toenail fungus to even have a chance of going away. Other treatments, such as oral medications and home remedies have their own problems as well. Oral medications not only take time to work, but the can also cause serious side effects such as liver damage. Home remedies will most likely not have any kind of effect on your nails at all. One more toenail fungus treatment option you could try, however, is laser treatment. If you do decide to choose the laser treatment option, the fungus will be killed by the laser instantly. In addition, it won’t require you to digest any harmful medications. With all that said, you will still need to be patient before you see the full results and entirely clear nails. While the laser will kill your toenail fungus during the treatment, you will not see the full results until a new nail grows out and takes the old nails place. For this reason you will need to be patient a little longer. Just remember that there is an end in sight to your nail fungus battle.

After you are diagnosed with ugly toenail fungus, there are lots of things you will need to know about it in order to maximize your chances of getting cured. Curing toenail fungus is not easy, so you will want to treat it as soon as possible, preferably without any pain. Luckily, there are a variety of ways you can do this. As long as you have some patience, there is a good chance that one of these toenail fungus cures will work for you. Toenail fungus lives underneath your nail bed. As such, it is very difficult to cure it by using medicine or similar curing agents. Successful toenail fungus cures need to be so strong that they’ll attack the fungus itself, not the area around it. One way to do this is by seeking out a laser treatment. The laser beam will focus on the fungal infection, killing the fungus in the process. The laser does not hurt at all, so you don’t have to worry about that. This is actually the fastest way to cure toenail fungus, but it will take a while before you see the full visual results. Another way that you can try to treat toenail fungus is by using Epsom salts. By mixing them into warm water and then applying the solution to your skin, these salts will absorb into your skin and take in all the positive nutrients. They will also help keep out the negative toxins. In addition to these solutions, you could also try using one of the many other home remedies that are out there. Vinegar is one remedy that people often suggest. Various oils, such as tea tree, jojoba, and oregano oils, have qualities within them that might help reduce the fungus. You might also be able to find certain herbs that could help in the same way. Keep in mind that these home remedies haven’t been studied and may not work, but they are something to think about. There really isn’t an overnight way to cure toenail fungus, so all of these toenail fungus treatments require patience. You should definitely check with a podiatrist before deciding which toenail fungus cure is right for you.
If you suffer from a mild or moderate infection, or prefer to avoid the risks of oral medication, your doctor can suggest topical treatment, such as an antifungal nail polish or ointment. The antifungal nail polish is applied on the nails and the nail cuticles daily. Every week you need take off the polish layers and begin a fresh application. If the treatment works, you should see a new, healthy nail growth from the base of the nail bed. The infected nail can be clipped away gradually. Routine daily use of an antifungal infused nail polish for about 12 months can clear some nail fungal infections, but because it has to penetrate the nail, it can be difficult to reach and destroy all the fungus. These treatments are time consuming and require high level of dedication from the patients, since even skipping few applications can result in remission of the infection. The treatments rarely work and most solutions in the market are not FDA approved to heal the infection (although they are effectively used to prevent the recurrence of infections). Your doctor can file the surface of your nail (debridement of the nail) to decrease the fungal load and lessen the surface of infected nail. The debridement can increase the effectiveness of the topical remedies. Over-the-counter antifungal nail ointments, are available at CVS, Walgreen’s and other local drugstores or pharmacies, but unfortunately they are not very effective. If you suffer from Athlete’s Foot then you should treat the athlete’s foot with antifungal cream to avoid reinfection. Nail fungus is very infectious, and can spread in dark moist places such as your shoes. If your feet sweat a lot through out the day, your nails are discolored, thick, brittle, or flaking you might have a toenail fungus infection. Nail fungus can spread to other nails in your shoes. Even if you cannot see it fungal spores may enter the other nails. Laser treatment is able to kill all toenail fungus that is present, however when you put your feet in a dark, damp place such as shoes for a prolonged period, you may be susceptible to reinfection. We recommend using antifungal products on your toenails and the skin on your feet, as well as for your shoes.
