Cardiff, Wales 'Cool Cymru' heroes Super Furry Animals ticked all the boxes and then some with their super-ambitious fifth studio album, 2002's 'Rings Around The World'. Don't fret it's not a 17-year-old fronting the podcast, just Max's ruined voice as he and Sam dial in with producer and style icon Touch Sensitive to chat about his latest EP, "Cold Cuts". It's a huge honour to be able to bring you this podcast chat as I'm joined by The Jam legend, Bruce Foxton. A man whose bass lines, and style of playing, are amongst some of the most recognisable on the planet. Often identifiable after just a few notes. Down at the Tube Station at Midnight, In The Crowd, The Eton Rifles, Funeral Pyre, Pretty Green, Going Underground... I could easily go on... We hear how he joined the band - a line up of Paul Weller, Rick Buckler and Steve Brookes in 1974 and his viewpoint on the band's incredible journey through live gigs and studio recordings to their huge success and, quite rightly, a whole heap of moments that he is massively proud of. We also get the story of the band's split in 1982 from his point of view and the subsequent recording and release of his first solo album - Touch Sensitive - in 1984. I was lucky enough to be in the audience when Bruce joined Paul Weller's solo show in 2010 for a very special night at London's Royal Albert Hall so hearing the story of the reconnection of their friendship after so many years of no communication was fascinating. We also chat about From The Jam and the new Bruce Foxton and Russell Hastings album The Butterfly Effect which is set for release on Friday October 28th. Episode 139, and well well well what a bumber edition we are bringing you this month! What with the show being less regular, the guys thought they would bring you a 3 hour (!) special (this show will last the journey from London to Hemsby by car in fair weather). In the first half the fellas speak to returning guest, the funkmeister, multi-instrumentalist that is Beckett - for a quick intro to the brand new album and touring news. Meanwhile the 'after hours' second half features an in-depth natter with the godfather of synthwave shows, Andy Last of Beyond Synth. This conversation got sweary real quick, so make sure there are no little ears around.... You will also hear top new tracks from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Your Sister is a Werewolf, Zayaz, The Less Dead, a Manhatten remix of Micromatscenes, and Nevermann - featuring (former guest) Dana Jean Phoenix, Waveshaper, Mskra, Touch Sensitive, TheMidnight, Fractal Man, Video Age, The Subtheory, Pogo, Chromatics, Von Kaiser, Strike Eagle, and a New Order classic! Enjoy, and we'll see you again next month.

From Derry in Northern Ireland, Christian Donaghy has been recording under the name Autumns for the past decade, with a super prolific string of releases on labels such as Touch Sensitive, Downwards, Death and Leisure and Opal tapes among many others. His music has evolved in that time from early period guitar orientation to a highly distinctive brand of dub drenched techno which Christian describes as Derry Dub Wave, all while still retaining a post punk ethos. His live shows are incendiary, sometimes confrontational and always propulsively entertaining. In this first part of our conversation, recorded remotely in early January 2022, we discuss hometown ambivalence, how Autumns debut on Downwards came about and how the project evolved from indie beginnings to what it is now. We also discuss Christian's attitude to live performance, his live set up, and his experience of touring and performing in Moscow and New York.Tracks played:Autumns - Raw Meat Dub (Dyslexia Sound System, Touch Sensitive, 2021)Autumns - Having It (Dyslexia Sound System, Touch Sensitive, 2021)All tracks are used with kind permission of the artist, label and distributor.Show links:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VilniusAutumns 'Mini LP' (Downwards, 2014): https://autumnsire.bandcamp.com/album/mini-lpAutumns live set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgqEIf725DM Hosted on Acast. Some companies have been naughty and it's time for us to talk about them. First, we crack open some beers. Ben has already got one on the go and finishes Shelby from Thornbridge in the first few minutes, Aadil drinks Hugs & Kisses from Brouwerij De Molen, Lucy has been to Burning Soul to pick up the Raspberry Ripple and Ben opens Galaga from Brew York. Then we get em. Aadil discusses the bad branding and messaging of the beer Karen Sour from Calgary brewer Common Crown Brewing Co. More beers are needed after the conversation so Aadil has Van Vollenhoven & Co Extra Stout, Lucy jumps on the Brew York train with Big Eagle 2020 and Ben finishes with Touch Sensitive from North Brewing Co. Lucy lightens the mood with a discussion on the games she has played including Bird Alone, The Great Perhaps and Ultracore. Conversation then descends to the dark depths some gaming companies have fallen to recently and Ben asks at what point do we stop supporting a developer?

Touch Sensitive is the alias of Australian music producer and bass playing bad-ass Michael Di Francesco. His song ‘Pizza Guy’ has been a staple for DJ’s all over the world the last 5 years and his brilliant debut album ‘Visions’ continues and expands on his musical mission. We sat down to discuss digital jazz, growing older in the music industry, overcoming your own musical hurdles and most importantly of course, the joy of cats. All music on the podcast by Joshua Moriarty & All The Colours One of my faves, Touch Sensitive ‘Show Me’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puyC2f2AoxI Stanley Clarke playing bass in Return To Forever (skip to 3:20 for some bass action): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdsK9YIf3U4 The Marvin Gaye song Michael mentioned ‘My Love Is Waiting’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTc0-gJFeDg The George Clinton song ‘Atomic Dog’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ5H9Av6x9M
Michael Di Francesco, AKA Touch Sensitive, loves his bass, his synths and his cats. When he isn't producing, remixing or touring, he might be found refurbishing old gear or sourcing obscure samples to use in his next project. Michael's latest success with his album "Vision's", proves he is in his element and that the future of Touch Sensitive is neon bright.
Touch Sensitive (Michael Di Francesco) is one of Tom's favourite musicians: he's a bass maestro who makes gorgeous tunes and has an extraordinary musical knowledge. In this episode we learn a bit more about how Touch learnt his craft, what is Italo-disco, and how everyone has their own definition of funk.
Welcome to Episode 14 of the Deconstructed Drummer! This is a conversation with the most excellent Cat Hunter (insta: @catalish), and it was a blast. I first heard about Cat when she was playing with Little May, and immediately I had to sit up and take notice. She was playing these really cool, left of centre but perfectly crafted parts which added so much to the songs, which sparked a thought of “I wish I'd thought of that!” She's been going from strength to strength since then, and is also touring with Nicole Millar, Touch Sensitive, Jess Kent, Tigertown and many more. She was also a touring member of Tap Dogs, and a member of the Drummer Queens. When I was researching I came across an interview (https://charlielawry.com/2016/02/24/cat-hunter-we-shouldnt-need-to-say-female-we-should-just-say-musicians/) where Cat talked about a startup she was working on called “Engages”, which was working on teaming up young people and old people based around common interests with the hope of building sustainable relationships. This really intrigued me. The discussion of mental health and the growing sense of isolation and anxiety that young people are feeling now is one that I'm particularly interested in, and I was really exited to jump down that rabbit hole with Cat. We also discuss drums, life, motivation, playback rig disasters, the realities of touring, and partial fast-to-slow conversion of regenerating rat fast-twitch muscle by chronic low-frequency stimulation.* * Absolutely not discussed. Ever. I don't know why I even typed this. I had to google that... We cover a lot of ground, and I really hope you enjoy it! Touch Sensitive’s debut single ‘Body Stop’ was one of the first tracks released on Future Classic, all the way back in 2004. Cloaked in anonymity its cosmic vibes and Italo authenticity made it a cult favourite among discerning DJ circles from East London to Brooklyn. Recent highlights include supporting performances for Disclosure & Cut Copy, as well as a free download of his latest single ‘Slowments’ & ‘Teen Idols’. 2015 saw the release of the Pizza Guy – Remix 12″ featuring Fantastic Man, I:Cube, Sau Poler & Sage Caswell.
