Coming into the season we knew that Bijan Robinson was the best running back in the country, but there's a difference between knowing something and having proof. Last night we got the proof, as Bijan Robinson etched his name in history winning the Doak Walker award for the best collegiate running back, giving The University of Texas five Doak Walker award winners in their history. Ricky Williams (twice), Cedric Benson, D'onta Foreman and now King Bijan Robinson. On the field, he was electric with his ability to break tackles, and make cuts in a phonebooth, similar to the way his idol Reggie Bush used to at USC. Off the field, he was an even better human being. The perfect human being to represent the University of Texas, even through some tough times. Bijan Robinson very well may have played his last game at the University of Texas, but he was given his flowers on the way out thankfully. There's no debate any longer on who was the best runningback in the country this year. The trophy is coming to the 40 acres. Jordan Whittington, should he stay or should he go is the second topic of today's show. Bars. The answer is simple: Yes. Tap in to hear the explanation. Greg Gabriel looks over the current roster of skill position players and offers his evaluation. The last third of the show is dedicated to answering questions from the chat room (the show is LIVE on the Barroom Network Twitter account). One of several interesting questions is why Cedric Benson was picked by the Bears in the 2005 NFL Draft especially since Aaron Rodgers was available.
We discuss Jason's First Time having to worry about gray hairs in his beard, the return of the Flying Car Segment and Dave B terrible performance in our Daily Draft of Longhorn football players. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Episode 109 with Aaron T HarrisHappy 2022!The former #HookEm linebacker great dove deep into life beyond football. He is currently in surgical device sales and is a proud girl dad.Harris offered his wisdom on self love, healthy life changes, and the key to a successful marriage. We discussed living life without a parent and dealing with the grief that comes with that. Aaron lost his mom.Nuggets of Harris wisdom are spread throughout this episode.Harris honored his friend, the late, great Texas running back, Cedric Benson. His stories from those great years of Texas football between 2001-2005, I haven't heard before. He didn't get credit for the sack of Troy Smith at Ohio State which resulted in a safety. It was a "team sack". The Bo Davis cell phone video on the team bus this past season was discussed at length. Harris said that would've never happened during his era at Texas. The player driven leadership would not have allowed it and if someone would've, that individual would've been dealt with by the team an no longer part of the "family" and team.Basically, an episode loaded with sage advice, Harris was vulnerable, and candid about life and football.A special thanks to:Jim Saxton, State Farm AgentKevin C Hutchison Realty AustinFarmhouse DeliveryOur Community NowCosmic Coffee + Beer GardenSupport the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/StoriesManCave)

In the first full-length episode of Bears Blunders, Matt goes back over Chicago's decision to trade away Thomas Jones following the 2006 season. This episode features Jones' history leading up to signing with the Bears, a look at the gaudy numbers he put up with awful QB play and how the addition of Cedric Benson killed any chance he had at solidifying himself as a Bears great. The episode features numerous quotes from Jones' time in and out of the league and we recommend giving Jack M. Silverstein's interview with Jones from 2017 a read here: https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2017/1/10/14221698/thomas-jones-power-pride-pain-chicago-bears-super-bowl-acting-injuries-cedric-benson-olin-kreutz Suggestions for upcoming episodes can be sent to bearsblunder@gmail.com or you can contact Matt directly on Twitter under the username of @MattEurich Be sure to rate and review the podcast!
Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter. Raider Nation Podcast - Oakland Raiders News and Opinion with Raider Greg
TOPICS: Segment #1: "New NFL Blackout Policy" The NFL announced a new local blackout policy this week, allowing a team to set it's own percentage of a sellout at which a game will be allowed televised locally. If a team does opt to lower the required sellout percentage below 100%, it must be no lower than 85%. Plus, to discourage teams from just setting it at 85% all the time, they will be required to share more of the revenue for any tickets sold after exceeding their required percentage. Also, teams cannot set different percentages for different games. It must be the same for all games, and must be chosen before the start of the season. Segment #2: "Will Cedric Benson Come to the Raiders?" There has been talk of Cedric Benson possibly coming to the Raiders, especially since he hasn't been picked up by another team and he could probably be signed fairly inexpensively. Raider Greg thinks it would be a good idea in order to prevent "using up" Darren McFadden. Segment #3: "Rest in Peace Ben Davidson" Raiders legend Ben Davidson passed away on Tuesday of prostate cancer at the age of 72. We partied with Big Ben last year at our away game in San Diego. You can see him in our video of that party here: http://youtu.be/wzVk8V4Rrkg (at 4:32), and in this video: http://youtu.be/AqJSKuMi06E (at 1:41). Ben will be greatly missed.
