Send us a textThe latest live episode of 2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates is packed with the most important and intriguing Giants news today as OTAs are officially underway. Hosts Drew and Rob break down everything you need to know from the New York Giants' first two OTA sessions, including updates from Head Coach Brian Daboll on injuries, practice standouts, and some surprising depth chart movements that could shape the early part of training camp.Giants fans tuning in will hear Daboll's latest injury updates on key players like rookie WR Malik Nabers, who is being held out as a precaution due to a lingering toe issue, as well as LT Andrew Thomas and free agent signing Jon Runyan. Daboll also comments on Dexter Lawrence's progress and the slow ramp-up for CB Paulson Adebo after last year's leg injury. This episode also dives deep into the standout performances from OTA 2, where the quarterbacks shined in red zone drills. Russell Wilson threw an early TD to Eric Gray and worked exclusively with the starters, while Jameis Winston tossed four touchdowns to Slayton, Hyatt, Montrell Washington, and Greg Dulcich. Rookie Jaxson Dart made his mark with three touchdowns of his own, including one to college teammate Juice Wells and another to Dante Miller, who racked up three total TDs. UDFA Tommy DeVito connected with Jordan Bly for three scores as well. The guys analyze the Giants' reshuffled offensive line, featuring James Hudson, Aaron Stinnie, John Michael Schmitz, Greg Van Roten, and Jermaine Eluemunor. With Thomas and Runyan sidelined, the Giants were clearly experimenting up front while Mike Kafka called plays and Brian Daboll spent considerable time observing Dart.Defensively, Dane Belton and Micah McFadden both made splash plays with interceptions, and Brian Burns showed off his elite edge presence with a would-be sack. Chris Board and Darius Muasau also flashed in pass coverage. PFF recently named both Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter to their Top 32 Edge Rushers list, and Drew and Rob break down why Carter may be the next breakout star for the Giants defense. The show also touches on a viral moment that got Giants fans buzzing: Brandon Jacobs' son Brayden, a 6'7”, 320-pound high school senior who's committed to Clemson, has the size and pedigree to dominate. To close things out, the hosts unpack the developing story around Jalin Hyatt and why he's reportedly in the Giants' doghouse. According to insider Connor Hughes, Hyatt mentally checked out last season after a clash with the coaching staff, which led to limited usage despite his clear talent. Could this be a make-or-break year for the explosive wideout?Whether you're looking for the latest New York Giants news, injury updates, OTA standouts, or behind-the-scenes stories from East Rutherford, this episode has you covered. Send us a textIn this in-depth episode of 2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates, hosts Drew and Rob dive into the full offensive roster of the New York Giants following the 2025 NFL Draft and a busy offseason of free agency. From revamped quarterback depth to an infusion of talent at wide receiver and tight end, the Giants offense has undergone a major overhaul that fans won't want to miss. This complete breakdown covers every offensive position group, examining which players are likely to make the 53-man roster, where key battles are brewing, and who might emerge as breakout stars in 2025.Starting with the quarterback room, the Giants have added veteran leadership and developmental upside. Russell Wilson leads the pack, with Jameis Winston providing experienced backup support, while Jaxson Dart and Tommy DeVito give the team developmental youth and preseason intrigue. It's a four-man group that offers a compelling mix of proven production and raw potential. At running back, the competition is just as intense. Rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. brings a versatile skill set and explosiveness, while veteran Devin Singletary figures to be the early favorite for lead duties. Behind them, Cam Skattebo, Eric Gray, and Dante Miller round out a crowded backfield with a mix of power, agility, and special teams upside. The Giants are clearly aiming for depth and flexibility in a position that has seen high turnover in recent seasons. The wide receiver group might be the most exciting position on offense, anchored by first-round pick Malik Nabers. Nabers is expected to be a game-changer for the NY Giants, giving them the kind of WR1 threat they've lacked in years. He joins a solid cast including Wan'Dale Robinson, deep threat Darius Slayton, second-year speedster Jalin Hyatt, and experienced role players like Lil'Jordan Humphrey and Zach Pascal. Special teams contributors Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Montrell Washington, along with big-bodied receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton, add further depth and intrigue to the competition.Tight end is another spot that has quietly gotten stronger. Returning starter Daniel Bellinger now shares the room with rookie athletic freak Theo Johnson, veteran blocker Chris Manhertz, Greg Dulcich—who brings pass-catching upside—and developmental prospect Thomas Fidone II. Whether it's in two-TE sets or in red zone formations, the Giants have more options than ever to create mismatches. On the offensive line, left tackle Andrew Thomas continues to be the cornerstone, now joined by Jermaine Eluemunor and James Hudson III, who bring experience and versatility. Rookie Stone Forsythe and swing lineman Joshua Ezeudu round out a deep tackle group. Inside, the guard spots have been upgraded with the additions of John Runyan and Greg Van Roten, while Aaron Stinnie, Evan Neal (transitioning inside), Marcus Mbow, and Jake Kubas provide a mix of veteran presence and youthful promise. At center, John Michael Schmitz is locked in as the starter with Austin Schlottman, Jimmy Morrissey, and Bryan Hudson offering depth and competition behind him. This full offensive breakdown gives New York Giants fans the clearest look yet at what the team is building for the 2025 season. Giants Make Key Signings | QB Updates & Free Agency Moves

Send us a textDrew and Rob are back with another episode of 2 Giants Goofballs, breaking down the latest New York Giants news, free agency moves, and rumors swirling around the quarterback position. The Giants have been busy making roster moves, starting with the signing of offensive tackle Stone Forsythe. The 6'8”, 307-pound tackle comes over from the Seahawks, where he played in nine games last season with five starts. However, his Pro Football Focus grades leave a lot to be desired, ranking near the bottom of all qualified linemen. Will the Giants coaching staff be able to get more out of him?  The Giants also bring back a couple of familiar faces on the offensive line. Aaron Stinnie re-signs on a one-year deal after playing all 16 games last season, starting three. While his PFF grades were underwhelming, the team clearly values his depth. Meanwhile, Greg Van Roten, who started all 17 games last season, returns with a 63.4 PFF grade, solidifying the interior offensive line.  On the defensive side, the Giants add depth to the trenches by signing veteran defensive tackle Jeremiah Ledbetter. The former Jaguar had a productive season in 2024, playing 15 games with three starts, recording 38 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and two sacks. His PFF grades show a solid run defender, but his pass rush needs improvement.  In a move that stings for Giants fans, longtime cornerback Adoree' Jackson has signed a one-year deal with the rival Philadelphia Eagles. Jackson played in 14 games last season, recording 28 tackles, five pass deflections, and one forced fumble. His coverage grades were solid, but he was especially dominant in run defense, earning an 85.8 grade from PFF. How will the Giants replace him in the secondary, and will this loss come back to haunt them when they face the Eagles?  The biggest question surrounding the Giants remains at the quarterback position. The team has been linked to multiple veteran signal-callers as they explore their options. Joe Flacco visited the Giants on Thursday, while Russell Wilson made a trip to New York on Friday after visiting Cleveland. Meanwhile, the team is reportedly growing tired of waiting for Aaron Rodgers to decide on his future, though they haven't moved on just yet. There's also a rumor that the Vikings could be in the mix for Rodgers, adding another wrinkle to the saga.  Drew and Rob break down all these moves, what they mean for the Giants' future, and what fans can expect in the coming weeks. Send us a textIn this episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates*, Drew and Rob delve into the New York Giants' recent announcement that Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will retain their positions as general manager and head coach, respectively, despite the team's disappointing 3-14 record. Giants owner John Mara issued a statement expressing confidence in Schoen and Daboll's long-term vision while acknowledging the frustration of back-to-back seasons with declining results. Mara emphasized the importance of improvement next year, noting that his patience is wearing thin.  The hosts analyze the Giants' struggles, including a winless record in the NFC East, and the questions surrounding the organization's refusal to tank despite whispers of strategic decisions like keeping key players Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy Jr. on the sidelines during a critical late-game drive. They explore Mara's strong stance against tanking and the weight of his words about needing to see tangible progress in 2024.  Attention also shifts to the potential departure of offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, as the Chicago Bears have requested permission to interview him for their head coaching vacancy. The future of defensive coordinator Wink Martindale is also up in the air, leaving the coaching staff in a state of uncertainty as the offseason begins.  Drew and Rob evaluate the futures of key players, including Darius Slayton, Azeez Ojulari, and Greg Van Roten. Slayton's production dipped in 2024, making his $7.95 million cap hit a point of debate, while Ojulari's frequent injuries cloud his value despite his pass-rushing ability. Meanwhile, Van Roten played every offensive snap last season and showed versatility across the offensive line, but his struggles in pass protection raise questions about whether he should return.  Finally, the Giants made some early offseason moves, signing five players to reserve/futures contracts, including defensive linemen Casey Rogers and Ross Blacklock, centers Jimmy Morrissey and Bryan Hudson, and kicker Jude McAtamney. Drew and Rob discuss how these signings could impact the depth chart heading into next season.  With Mara's ultimatum for progress and key decisions looming over the roster and coaching staff, the Giants face a crucial offseason that could define the franchise's trajectory for years to come. Tune in as Drew and Rob break it all down with their trademark insight and passion for Giants football.#giants #nygiants #nflSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Giants Bench Daniel Jones! DeVito Named Starter & Major Roster Changes Loom

Send us a textThe New York Giants have officially entered a new chapter in their turbulent 2024 season. Head coach Brian Daboll announced a monumental shift in the quarterback position, benching Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito. This decision, confirmed by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, comes as the Giants struggle at 2-8 and look to retool for the future. Daboll stated that the move was made after thorough evaluation and praised DeVito for the spark he showed last year. Financial implications aside, this decision marks a significant pivot for the Giants. Daboll also hinted at further roster evaluations, suggesting that underperforming players could see reduced roles as the team focuses on assessing talent for 2025 and beyond. While ownership reportedly supports Daboll for now, insiders like Jordan Schultz report that the next seven games are critical for the head coach. Daboll's decision to start DeVito could be a last-ditch effort to reignite the offense and prove his worth to ownership, especially amid increasing speculation about his future with the team.  Roster problems extend far beyond the quarterback position. Deonte Banks, who was expected to solidify the secondary, has struggled in his second year, leaving the Giants in desperate need of a true CB1. On the defensive line, Dexter Lawrence continues to dominate as one of the league's premier nose tackles, but the rest of the unit has underwhelmed, particularly in run defense. The offensive line, once a persistent weakness, still faces questions, especially with free agent Greg Van Roten potentially departing. Wide receiver and tight end positions remain areas of concern, with players like Darius Slayton and Chris Manhertz also set to hit free agency.  Looking to the future, the Giants are poised to make bold moves in free agency and the draft. Cutting Daniel Jones and others could free up over $60 million in cap space, allowing the team to pursue veteran quarterbacks to bridge the gap until a rookie is ready to start. Free-agent targets may include Taylor Heinicke, Sam Darnold, or even Justin Fields, depending on cost and availability. In the draft, projections suggest Miami QB Cam Ward could be the team's top pick. Other potential draftees include Kenneth Grant, a defensive tackle with elite run-stopping skills, and Quincy Riley, a cornerback with developmental upside.  Free agency and the draft are not the only areas of focus. Key re-signings like WR Darius Slayton, OL Greg Van Roten, and EDGE Azeez Ojulari are vital to maintaining continuity and addressing depth concerns. Meanwhile, veterans like QB Drew Lock and CB Adoree Jackson are unlikely to return, further emphasizing the need for strategic acquisitions to stabilize the roster.  Despite the team's struggles, ownership reportedly values continuity, with Adam Schefter suggesting that Daboll and Schoen are likely safe for now. However, this commitment to stability is contingent on the team's performance over the next seven games. Giants fans will watch closely as the team navigates this critical stretch, knowing that their franchise's direction hangs in the balance.  #giants #nygiants #giants100Support the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Trade acquisition Brian Burns looked every bit the part, as Dexter Lawrence and Kayvon Thibodeux got in solid reps  as well. The depth on defense however, remains on shaky ground. Send us a Text Message. The New York Giants have signed Greg Van Roten to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million. Van Roten, who played right guard next to current Giants right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor last season, reunites with offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo, under whom he had his best season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 75.3. For comparison, Andrew Thomas, the Giants' top lineman, had a grade of 76.1.The Giants have also signed cornerback Mario Goodrich, a former Philadelphia Eagle. Goodrich, who split time between the Eagles' practice squad and active roster, has played in four games with one start since leaving Clemson. His release by the Eagles occurred when they picked up former Giant Nick Gates, highlighting the fluid nature of roster changes in the NFL. Gates, who previously played for the Giants and then the Commanders, recently signed with the Eagles. This move has sparked some discussion among fans, particularly given the contrasting reactions to Saquon Barkley's move to the Eagles compared to Gates' transition between NFC East rivals. In another roster move, the Giants released cornerback Aaron Robinson, a former third-round pick in 2021, who has struggled with injuries throughout his career, playing only 11 games for the team. This release leaves Azeez Ojulari as the last player from the Giants' 2021 draft class still on the roster.Questions have also arisen about the future of Evan Neal as a starter. His rookie deal is fully guaranteed, with a cap hit of $6.7 million this season and $7.8 million next season, meaning the Giants will pay him regardless of whether they cut him. The signing of Van Roten could signal a change in Neal's role.Brian Burns suffered an ankle injury, but it is reportedly minor. Given the significant investment the Giants have made in him, they are likely to be cautious about his return to avoid further injury.Concerns linger about head coach Brian Daboll's confidence in quarterback Daniel Jones. Daboll's reaction to the plan of acquiring a weapon for Jones if they didn't draft a quarterback in the first round seemed lukewarm. There has been debate about whether the Giants should have traded down in the first round. The Indianapolis Colts offered picks 15, 46, and a second-round pick next year, but the Giants declined.Malik Nabers, a first-round draft pick, sparked some controversy when he seemed less than enthusiastic during his draft-day phone call. The Giants' selection of Andru Phillips in the third round as a nickel corner was confirmed by DC Shane Bowen and DBs coach Jerome Henderson, who described him as a three-down player.Fourth-round pick Theo Johnson, a tight end, was praised by the Giants' scouting and coaching staff, with General Manager Joe Schoen expressing confidence in the decision. The team also drafted running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., who was highlighted for his versatility as a former wide receiver and three-down running back. Finally, the Giants selected linebacker Darius Muasau. There has been speculation about whether the Giants drafted based on need rather than the best player available#giants #nygiants #hardkSupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Hour 1 Jazz Chisholm played third base for the first time in the big leagues to help the Yankees but Gleyber Torres doesn't want to move from second base, where he stinks. Boomer has jury duty coming up and we wonder if he's too well-known to sit on a jury. Blake Snell is the big name being rumored about today. Will the Mets or Yankees make a move for him? Somebody spilled something on the desk in the studio and we don't know if we can lift the plexiglass to clean it. Jerry is here for his first update but first we reveal the disgusting mass building up under the glass on the table. We try to clean it while Jerry tells us about all of the homers the Yankees hit in Philly. Keith McPherson is the latest victim of mispronouncing Jazz Chisholm. James McCann took a 95 MPH fastball to the face but stayed in the game. The Mets had a hit parade of their own. Super dork Pete Alonso thought the offense was super great. Garrett Wilson called Aaron Rodgers the “Oppenheimer” of football. In the final segment of the hour, we finish cleaning up the mess and restore the studio to its proper glory. Plus, we expect the Blake Snell trade to happen at 10:01. Hour 2 Anybody freaking out over the Aaron Rodgers/Garrett Wilson video from Jets camp yesterday is doing so over nothing. It's a good development and typical for training camp. Boomer talked to Phil Simms on the phone for over an hour yesterday. They are going to play pickleball together. Daniel Jones should have a productive season. What will the Giants do if that happens? Will the Cowboys play Dak? Is there a chance the Cowboys blow it up next year to bring in Deion and Shadeur Sanders? Jerry is back for an update and begins with Pete Alonso's RBI double in the Mets blowout over the Twins. Jazz Chisholm had a big night. Boomer says, what a shrewd trade! He adds that the Yankees are going to the World Series. The White Sox are historically awful. Is it by design? The Jets had a sloppy day of practice. Aaron Rodgers was not happy and his teammates say they appreciated that. Boomer liked playing in preseason and thinks the Jets players should play some in those games. Stephen A. Smith apologized to his pastor in advance for cursing. Chris “Mad Dog” Russo was not happy about being called sexist. In the final segment of the hour, the culprit responsible for the spill on the desk calls in to apologize. It was Danielle McCartan. Peter Schwartz's son announced that he has decommitted from LIU. He made the original commitment announcement on the show. Hour 3 Gio doesn't not expect Blake Snell to be a Yankee or a Met. Jazz Chisholm has already brought the energy. Gio did not like one of Evan's suggestions for a Mets trade target. Gio has us dive deep into trade deadline sports talk for a minute before wanting out. Jerry returns for an update and begins with the “sloppy” day at Jets camp. Haason Reddick is still holding out. Gio says circumstances clearly changed after their initial conversations while Boomer understands where both the player and team are coming from. Jerry Jones is still talking about Dak Prescott's contract without extending Dak's contract. Smokey Robinson got to live out a dream of his and meet Mike Tomlin. John Elway regrets passing on Josh Allen in 2018. Gio regrets accepting his first fantasy football invite in four years. Jazz Chisholm hit two homers and used Aaron Judge's bat for one of them. Pete Alonso hit his 22nd HR. Dawn Staley explained that it was just a matter of timing for Caitlin Clark not being on the Olympic team. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer explains the QB/center dynamic and what Jets center Joe Tippmann could be going through with his struggles in training camp. Sauce Gardner caught the golf bug. Hour 4 Gleyber Torres doesn't want to change positions. Boomer understands and explains why. Gio is surprised that someone who has been so hard on Gleyber doesn't have a problem with this but Boomer doesn't think Gleyber has a selfish motive. Boomer remains convinced the Yankees are going to the World Series. Gio wants Gleyber traded today. The Yankees are going to have to make a deal they don't want to make in order to go for it. Send us a Text Message. The New York Giants brought in free agent guard Greg Van Roten for a visit, as reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Van Roten, who played for offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo last year with the Raiders, started all 17 games, allowed five sacks (the ninth most in the NFL), and logged a 75.3 PFF grade. An undrafted free agent from UPenn, Van Roten has also played for the Packers, Seahawks, Jaguars, Jets, Bills, and the CFL's Toronto Argonauts. At 34 years old, he could fit in as a veteran familiar with Bricillo's system or as a potential starter, moving Eluemunor back to right tackle and himself to right guard, positions they played together last year in Las Vegas. This would allow Jon Runyan Jr. to return to his preferred left guard spot.Darren Waller recently defended Daniel Jones against critics on SiriusXM NFL Radio, expressing excitement for Jones to get another opportunity. Waller argued that Jones gets a bad reputation, noting his strong performance in 2022 and the tough circumstances he faced in 2023, including poor offensive line protection. Waller believes Jones is a talented and athletic player who can shine again if given proper support, adding that Jones is motivated and ready to lead.Darius Slayton, while on the All Facts No Brakes Podcast with Keyshawn Johnson, hinted that he sensed Darren Waller might retire during last season. Slayton often teased Waller, asking for "one more year," but Waller frequently expressed doubt about having it in him, suggesting to Slayton that he was nearing the end of his career. There is speculation that Joe Schoen did not want Saquon Barkley on the Giants in 2024. In an interview snippet released on the "Scoop City Podcast," Barkley revealed he believed it was over after a particular phone call and felt the Giants were not willing to match his value. Schoen's hypothetical offer to Barkley was a 3-year deal worth $37.5 million with $25 million guaranteed, while the Eagles offered Barkley $37.8 million with $26 million guaranteed. Despite increasing offers to ensure other players like Jon Runyan Jr., Jermain Eleumenor, and Drew Lock stayed away from rival teams, Schoen did not match the Eagles' offer for Barkley, raising questions about his intentions. The Giants have the sixth most expensive offense in the NFL, according to Warren Sharp on Twitter. Their top ten ranking includes the Browns, Rams, Chiefs, Cowboys, Falcons, Giants, Colts, 49ers, Panthers, and Bengals. Cap numbers from Spotrac show Daniel Jones with a cap hit of $47.855 million and Andrew Thomas at $23.263 million, together accounting for almost 28% of the team's cap space. The next highest on offense is Darius Slayton at $7.75 million. On defense, the highest cap hits are Brian Burns ($15.5 million), Dexter Lawrence ($14.5 million), and Bobby Okereke ($11.2 million).Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report suggested that the Giants might consider trading for Taylor Heinicke. Michael Strahan's daughter Isabella announced she is cancer-free on her YouTube channel on July 18, following clear scans. Isabella finished her last chemotherapy treatment on June 20. Lawrence Taylor was arrested in Florida again, TMZ Sports reported.

Daren welcomes Dan Feeney and Greg Van Roten of the New York Jets (4:20) to this week's episode and is also joined by Columbus Blue Jackets President of Hockey Operations John Davidson (23:59). Feeney and Van Roten talk about their love of hockey and how the Jets have come together to support the New York Islanders during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Van Roten is a lifelong Islanders fan and coordinated a few trips to Nassau Coliseum with his teammates (including Zach Wilson). Feeney had a great time, slugged a few beers in the stands and instantly became an Islander fan favorite. The two explain how it all happened and why Feeney (and his LGI mullet t-shirt) will forever be remembered by Islanders fans. *All proceeds of Feeney's t-shirt sales go to the National MS Society and can be purchased here: https://bit.ly/3pVHg6uDavidson talks about why he decided to go back to Columbus, what happened with the New York Rangers, the process of hiring a coach in Columbus, working again with Jarmo Kekäläinen, his desire to re-sign Seth Jones and Wayne Gretzky moving into the world of broadcasting.

For most players on the Jets we have a good idea about their projected role. CJ Mosley is going to be the star linebacker. Jamison Crowder will be the slot receiver. Steve McLendon will be the nose tackle who plays on run downs. There are a handful of players whose projected role with the team is less clear. The Jets might even be in "wait and see" mode on these players depending on what happens in training camp. The responsibilities these players eventually take could have major implications for the 2020 season. On today's podcast we discuss some of these players. It is difficult to say exactly where Frank Gore, Ashtyn Davis, David Fales, Bless Austin, and Greg Van Roten slot into the team. Some actually might not. A few players on that list are no lock to even make the team. Today we discuss the variety of potential roles all of these players could have on the 2020 Jets. Learn more about your ad choices. After a quiet first few days of free agency, the Jets picked up their activity level over the weekend. The team made two additions at positions of need. Veteran guard Greg Van Roten was signed from Carolina while cornerback Pierre Desir was signed shortly after being released by the Indianapolis Colts.A pattern seems to be emerging in the team's free agency approach. The Jets largely sat out the early stages of free agency, which are full of big contracts. Instead their focus has been targeting upgrades at key positions who will not sign financially prohibitive deals. To clear out salary cap space, the Jets released cornerback Darryl Roberts. This seemed like a formality. Roberts did not live up to the contract the team gave him a year ago. The move cleared up $6 million in cap room. The Jets also added a pair of depth players in Josh Andrews and Marqui Christian. We talk about all of this and more on today's podcast.
