The Carolina Panthers made another splash signing by adding veteran edge rusher and Charlotte-area native Jadeveon Clowney. With the signing of Clowney, D.J. Wonnum, and K'Lavon Chaisson, the Panthers have likely fulfilled their quota of free agent pass rushers. Now that all three are aboard, how does that possible change how the Panthers will approach the edge rusher position in the draft? One position the Panthers could elect to address during the draft is linebacker. With the departure of Frankie Luvu and short-term deals for Josey Jewell and Shaq Thompson, the Panthers don't have a long-term option at the position. Could NC State's Payton Wilson be the ideal fit for the Panthers in the second round?Julian Council answers these questions among other listener questions in this week's edition of the Weekly Friday Mailbag. Following the trade of Brian Burns to the Giants and several other free agent signings, edge rusher became the biggest roster hole to fill for the Carolina Panthers. Welcome to another episode of "The Real Forno Show" with your host, Tyler Forness, presented by Vikings 1st & SKOL. In today's episode, we take a deep dive into the current situation of the Minnesota Vikings. Recently, the team suffered a disappointing 30-24 loss against the Detroit Lions. This defeat has considerably altered the Vikings' trajectory, pulling the reins of their playoff destiny out of their hands and placing the NFC North title firmly in the clutches of the Lions. Congratulations to the Lions for their first ever NFC North title. This episode will guide you through the aftermath of this game, most notably the performance of Nick Mullens, whose four interceptions contributed significantly to the Vikings' loss. We question what we can learn from such a performance and discuss the potential implications for future games. The choice of the starting player against the Green Bay Packers is another hot topic we'll explore. Kevin O'Connell's decision, announced last Wednesday, has sparked a wave of discussions that we will delve into. As we approach the final two games of the regular season, the question arises - should the team's focus now pivot to the next season? Is that the best strategy moving forward? Let's dissect this together. Additionally, we'll examine the impact of the season-ending injuries of T.J Hockenson and D.J. Wonnum. How will these losses affect the team dynamics and what can we expect going forward? In this episode, we also take a critical look at Brian Flores' defense. Has it lost its magic? What has led to its current state, and can it be revived? Join us for this comprehensive analysis as we navigate through the rough seas of the final stages of the regular season, while keeping an eye on the horizon - the next season. Welcome to the Week 14 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report. It was a defensive slugfest in Las Vegas as the Vikings pulled off the 3-0 victory. Both defenses played incredibly, only giving up a combined 433 total yards to their opponents offenses. The Vikings were able to flip the turnover battle this week, finishing +3, including a huge interception by linebacker Ivan Pace jr. deep into the 4th Quarter. Pace also recorded a sack on the day and led the team with 13 tackles. The three other sacks by the Vikings were recorded by D.J. Wonnum, Harrison Phillips, and Troy Dye. Mekhi Blackmon and Jay Ward rounded out the big defensive stats for Minnesota by each recovering a fumble. Offensively, Quarterback Josh Dobbs started the game, but Nick Mullens came in late in the 4th Quarter to lead the game winning drive. Dobbs finished with 63 yards passing on 10 completions, while Mullens added 83 passing yards on 9 completions. Kicker Greg Joseph was big when they needed it most, as he hit the game winning 36-yard score with 1:57 left in the game. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich recap the game, including: the incredible defensive performance, the spark provided by Nick Mullens, and the key plays supplied by the Special Teams unit. Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Quarterback Nick Mullens both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. All of this and more is in the 2023 Week 14 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Ben Goessling and Andrew Krammer discuss head coach Kevin O'Connell's comments entering the bye week regarding his decision at quarterback. Why does veteran Nick Mullens make the most sense? What happened with Joshua Dobbs' struggles? They also open the mailbag and answer your questions about the run game, NFC playoff matchups, D.J. Wonnum and more.

They consider the effectiveness of both players, Chandler's potential to take over Mattison's role, and the impact of Cam Akers' injury. They also share their thoughts on some of the unsung heroes in the Vikings' lineup, such as wide receiver/punt returner Brandon Powell and outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum. They discuss their remarkable performances and their impact on the team's success. Finally, they provide a comprehensive preview of the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears, discussing the Bears' recent improvement and the challenges the Vikings might face. They highlight the importance of the Vikings' offensive effectiveness, with the emphasis on Josh Dobbs' dual-threat ability, and the defense's ability to resist the Bears' strong running game. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs came out hot in his first start as a Viking and finished the game 23-of-34 for 268 yards and 1 Touchdown passing and added another 44 yards on the ground with a score. Ty Chandler led the running game with 15 carries for 45 yards and his first rushing touchdown of his NFL career. As for receiving, T.J. Hockenson had a huge day pulling in 11 receptions for 134 yards and a receiving touchdown. The Defense became opportunistic in the second half after backup quarterback Jameis Winston came in for injured Saints quarterback Derek Carr. D.J. Wonnum, Danielle Hunter and Jonathan Bullard all recorded sacks in the game, while Byron Murphy Jr and Mekhi Blackmon both grabbed interceptions in the 4th quarter. In the end, the Vikings were able to protect the lead and improve to 6-4. Next week, the Vikings will head to the Mile High City to take on Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich recap the win, including: another gutsy effort for a 5th straight win, Dobbs athleticism in his second Vikings game, the continued unorthodox defensive pressures, and everyone pitching in to make key plays. Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and Quarterback Josh Dobbs both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. In this episode of "Live at the Two Minute Warning," the Minnesota Vikings faced off against the Green Bay Packers in a highly anticipated NFC North battle. The Vikings were looking to reach a .500 record and prove their legitimacy as a team. However, this game took a devastating turn when Kirk Cousins, the Vikings' quarterback, suffered what appears to be a season-ending Achilles injury. Despite the injury setback, the Vikings put on an impressive performance, securing a 24-10 victory over the Packers. The defense played exceptionally well, holding the Packers to just ten points. D.J. Wonnum recorded two sacks, while Danielle Hunter added another sack to his impressive season total. The offense showed resilience, with K.J. Osborn stepping up and making key plays in the absence of Justin Jefferson. However, the focus now turns to the future of the Vikings' quarterback position. With Kirk Cousins potentially out for the season, the team will need to rely on Jaren Hall and Nick Mullins to lead the offense. Join the hosts of "Live at the Two Minute Warning" as they analyze the game, discuss the impact of Kirk Cousins' injury, and explore the options for the Vikings moving forward. It's a somber victory for the Purple, but the season is far from over. Tune in to find out how the Vikings will navigate this challenging situation. Fan with us!!! Welcome to Week 6 of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Vikings fought through adversity and earned a 19-13 win in The Windy City. The Vikings Defense stepped up and made the Bears uncomfortable all day, including five sacks, two interceptions, and a scoop-and-score from linebacker Jordan Hicks. Linebacker Jordan Hicks had a banner day with ten total tackles, an interception on Justin Fields, and a 42-yard scoop and score. Fields went out with an injury and both Bears quarterbacks, Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent, only threw for 113 combined passing yards in the game. Danielle Hunter notched another two sacks, increasing his season total to eight. Josh Metellus, Harrison Phillips, and D.J. Wonnum earned the other three. Offensively, it was tough sledding all day. The Vikings only amassed 220 combined yards and Cousins hit rookie Jordan Addison for the only offensive touchdown of the day, his fourth on the season. Kicker Greg Joseph scored the other points, hitting two field goals in the first half from 50+ yards to get the Vikings on the board. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich recap the game from Soldier Field, including: the Defense stepping up to carry the day, the difficulty of playing a backup quarterback, D.J. Wonnum versus the Bears, the importance of getting the running game going, and Kirk Cousins day overall. Plus, head coach Kevin O'Connell and quarterback Kirk Cousins both spoke to the media at the postgame press conference. Welcome to Purple & Gold 4 Days with Justin Day, a Vikings 1st & SKOL production. In this episode, we dive into the latest happenings in Vikings football. We start by praising the outstanding performance of Harrison Smith, who brought back memories of his 2017 season. With 14 tackles and three sacks, Smith's contribution to the defense cannot be overlooked. We also give credit to D.J. Wonnum for stepping up and making impactful plays on the field. Moving on, we discuss the concerns surrounding Kirk Cousins and whether he is hitting the age cliff. Despite leading the league in passing yards, Cousins has shown some inconsistencies and has struggled with accuracy. We analyze his performance and ponder the potential impact on the team. The defense takes center stage as we highlight their impressive performance against Carolina, holding them to just six points. We acknowledge that it was against a struggling team but commend the defense for their dominance. We recognize the contributions of Marcus Davenport and the overall improvement of the defensive line. Looking ahead, we preview the upcoming game against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. We emphasize the importance of a strong offensive performance and the need for Cousins to have the game of his life. We discuss the challenges the team will face against a formidable opponent and the need for the defense to continue their solid play. Finally, we touch on the topic of tanking versus taking a step back. We clarify the difference and explain that making strategic moves to maximize assets is not the same as tanking. We discuss the potential trade options for the Vikings and the importance of making smart decisions for the future. FAN WITH US!!! Welcome to Week 4 of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Vikings are heading home from Charlotte with a 21-13 victory over the Panthers. The Vikings Defense and rushing attack stepped up and powered the team to their first win on the season. The team settled down after an opening drive pick-six by Sam Frankling Jr., but the team settled down and were able to keep the game within 6 points going into halftime. The Vikings Defense was able to get after rookie quarterback, Bryce Young, sacking him five times, including three by Harrison Smith. Smith was a huge catalyst, finished with 14 combined tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble that D.J. Wonnum returned for a 51-yard scoop-and-score. Wonnum and Marcus Davenport accounted for the other two sacks on the afternoon. Cam Akers and Alexander Mattison racked up 135 yards on the ground, while Justin Jefferson caught both of Cousins' touchdown passes. The Vikings will come home to host the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich recap the differences they saw in this week's victory, the effectiveness of the running game, Harrison Smith's impact on the entire defense, and look ahead to the challenges presented by the Kansas City Chiefs. In the latest episode of Two Old Bloggers, Darren and Dave dive deep into the state of the Minnesota Vikings' season. With the team starting 0-2, football fans and Vikings supporters alike are wondering whether the season can be saved. The duo analyzes the team's performances to date, identifying key weaknesses that have plagued them in their first two games. One such issue is their inability to run the ball effectively, a problem that has been compounded by an underperforming offensive line. The Vikings have only managed to run the ball 23 times for 69 yards in their first two games, which is a worrying sign for the team's offense. Darren and Dave also explore the Vikings' defense, which has struggled in the second halves of their games against Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. Defensive end Dean Lowry has been ineffective, and rotational edge rushers D.J. Wonnum and Pat Jones III have contributed very little. Even Marcus Davenport, who was expected to make an impact, has played just four snaps in two games. The bloggers note that head coach Brian Flores has been playing very light, small defenses, especially against the Eagles, which may not be effective against teams that play power football. The duo also explores the possibility of trading quarterback Kirk Cousins, with some media personalities suggesting that the New York Jets could be interested in acquiring him. While the idea may seem intriguing, Darren and Dave ultimately conclude that it is unlikely to happen. The Jets need a good quarterback to keep their Super Bowl hopes alive, but even if the Vikings were willing to trade Cousins, it is unlikely that the Jets would wait until the trade deadline to make a move. Furthermore, trading Cousins would be a divisive move among Vikings fans and may not be worth the potential draft capital that the team could gain from a trade. Finally, the bloggers touch on the disappointing performance of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's 2022 draft class and how it may impact the Vikings' future. With only wide receiver Jordan Addison looking like a real keeper, there are concerns about the team's ability to draft consistently well. Darren and Dave note that this may be a cause for concern, as mostly good drafting is typically a hallmark of consistently good teams. Darren Campbell and David Stefano are the Two Old Bloggers. On this August 25th, 2023 episode of the Vikings Daily Opener, the Minnesota Vikings' joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals was discussed. Several impactful players returned to the field, including linebacker Brian Asamoah II, cornerback Mekhi Blackmon, special teams ace NaJee Thompson, and wide receiver Jailon Nailor. Undrafted free agent standout Ivan Pace Jr. continued to impress and held the responsibility of the green dot, which meant he relayed calls to the entire defense. Rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison consistently impressed during practices and made an impressive leaping grab against Cardinals cornerback Kei'Trel Clark. Brandon Powell earned first-team snaps as K.J. Osborn was out of practice. Justin Jefferson continued to show why he is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, catching a long game-winning touchdown against rookie cornerback Clark in the two-minute drill and also catching a long pass from Kirk Cousins. Tight end Johnny Mundt impressed with an impressive touchdown grab, and Ty Chandler continued to show off his speed and agility. In other news, Jordan Addison, a first-round draft choice, agreed to plead guilty to driving his 2021 Lamborghini Urus luxury sports car 140 miles per hour on Interstate 94 in St. Paul last month. Vikings' GM, Kwesi-Adofo Mensah, continued to bring in competition during the late stages of training camp, signing former Los Angeles Rams safety/inside linebacker Jake Gervase and waiving N'Keal Harry. The team also waived tackle Chim Okorafor and signed cornerback Jameson Houston. As the Vikings cut down their roster from 90 players to 53, Jaden Lewis discussed five players who could surprisingly make the final 53-man roster, including running back Aaron Dykes, cornerback NaJee Thompson, tight end Nick Muse, nose tackle T.J. Smith, and wide receiver Trishton Jackson. Meanwhile, four players who could potentially be left off the final 53-man roster were discussed, including outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum, wide receiver Jalen Nailor, kick returner Kene Nwangwu, and offensive tackle Oli Udoh. Overall, the Vikings have tough decisions to make as they solidify their roster for the upcoming season. Welcome to The Real Forno Show. Tonight, we're going to take a closer look at the Minnesota Vikings' 2023 group of outside linebackers and edge rushers. With the departure of Za'Darius Smith, the Vikings are looking to sixth-year pass rusher Marcus Davenport to step up and show his potential. The show will also explore the potential of young players like D.J. Wonnum, Patrick Jones II, Andre Carter II, and Luiji Vilain, and whether they can develop into dominant forces in the league. As we continue to make our way through each position group on the roster, we have made our way to the edge rushers. A position that the Minnesota Vikings both had top-end talent and questionable depth, that carries over from last year. Gone is Za'Darius Smith, as he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in May. In his place steps sixth-year pass rusher Marcus Davenport, who has more upside with just as many injury concerns. With him and Danielle Hunter, who still needs a new contract, the Vikings are set to have a solid edge room. Hunter, who is a top-tier pass rusher, is still seeking a new contract. The Vikings must work out a deal with him as soon as possible because they cannot afford to lose him in the future. Marcus Davenport, on the other hand, has shown flashes of brilliance but has also had some injury concerns. The Vikings are hoping that he can stay healthy and develop into the player they envisioned when they drafted him. The rest of the group has some question marks. D.J. Wonnum showed signs of growth last year, but the Vikings need to see more from him to warrant a second contract. Will Patrick Jones II thrive under the guidance of Brian Flores? And was Andre Carter II worth the undrafted free agent investment? Overall, the Vikings' edge rusher group has some promising pieces, but there are also some uncertainties. It'll be interesting to see how this group develops over the course of the season. The Vikings need to make sure that they can keep their top-tier pass rusher, Danielle Hunter, and develop the rest of the group to be a dominant force in the league. FAN WITH US!!! The Minnesota Vikings have finished their rookie minicamp and are now preparing for their next practices on May 22nd, 23rd, and 25th. The team has made some significant changes to its roster, including adding several new players. Given these changes, there are some major questions on the back end of the roster. Here is the team's first projection on the 53-man roster come week one. Tyler predicts the Vikings' 53-man roster which includes three quarterbacks, four running backs without Dalvin Cook, six wide receivers, four tight ends, ten offensive linemen, six defensive linemen, four outside linebackers, four inside linebackers, five cornerbacks, and four safeties. While the show acknowledges that this is only a projection and that things could change after training camp, it provides a starting point for those interested in the Vikings' roster makeup. In addition to the 53-man roster projection, the article also lists five veterans that the Vikings could cut before week one. These veterans include D.J. Wonnum, Josh Metellus, Kene Nwangwu, Troy Dye, and James Lynch. The show provides each player's cap savings and dead cap hit and explains why they might be on the chopping block. Overall, tonight's show provides a detailed look at the Minnesota Vikings' potential roster for week one. While nothing is set in stone, this projection provides insight into which players the team might prioritize and which veterans could be on their way out. Welcome to the Week 16 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report. Tell me if you've heard this before? It was another back-and-forth game and the Vikings needed another last second score to secure the victory. This time, Greg Joseph stepped in to hit a Vikings record 61-yard field goal and the Vikings improved to 12-3. The Vikings Offense saw a host of memorable moments today, including: Justin Jefferson passing Randy Moss for the most yards by a Vikings receiver in a single season (1,623 so far this season), Dalvin Cook moved up to third all-time rushing in Vikings history, and T.J. Hockenson caught 13 receptions for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kirk Cousins finished the day, completing 34-of-48 passes, for 299 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Justin Jefferson's record setting day finished with an individual stat line of 12 receptions, 133 yards and a TD. Defense and Special Teams also stepped up and did their part: Patrick Peterson had a key interception in the Fourth Quarter, Danielle Hunter had 2 sacks, D.J. Wonnum and Khyiris Tonga shared a QB sack, Brian Asamoah II snagged a fumble recovery, and Josh Metellus had a punt block that setup the Justin Jefferson Touchdown. Gabe Henderson and Ben Leber recap the Christmas Eve present from U.S. Bank Stadium, including: Kirk Cousins making plays in the face of pressure at another level, another single score finish becoming a trend not a mirage, T.J. Hockenson's impact on this Offense, the Defense being opportunistic when it matters most, and the discussion about getting key players healthy before the big playoff push. Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell speaks to the media, Gabe Henderson and Ben Leber also go 'Between The Lines' presented by Gatorade, Quarterback Kirk Cousins shares his thoughts in his postgame press conference, and Ron Johnson gives his '3 Takes' to round out the show. Welcome back to another victorious edition of the Vikings Postgame Report. The Minnesota Vikings continued their trend of finishing close games by outscoring the Commanders 13-7 in the 4th quarter and winning the game 20-17. The Commanders Defense gave the Vikings fits, but the Vikings Offense methodically moved the ball in the 4th Quarter and the Vikings Defense capitalized on mistakes by Taylor Heinicke down the stretch. WR Justin Jefferson caught his first TD pass since Week 1 of the season on the opening drive and finished the game with 7 receptions for 155 yards, a receiving TD, and 10 rushing yards. Newly acquired Tight End T.J. Hockenson jumped into-the-mix catching all 9 targets for 70 receiving yards. Dalvin Cook had 57 all-purpose yards and the critical one-handed receiving TD in the 4th Quarter. Quarterback Kirk Cousins finished the game 22-of-40, 265 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 1 INT and 2 sacks. Defensively, the Line was making Heinicke uncomfortable all day, finishing the game with 3 sacks, 7 QB hits, and 7 pass defections. Danielle Hunter finished the game with a bunch of 'Terrible Two's': 2 sacks, 2 QB hits and 2 tackles for loss. Other notable defensive stars, include: D.J. Wonnum with the 3rd sack of the game, Harrison Smith added in yet another Interception on the season, and Jordan Hicks finished the game with 10 combined tackles. Kicker Greg Joseph hit his two 4th-Quarter Field Goal attempts inside the Redzone and added in two Extra Points to remain perfect on the day. Paul Allen and Pete Bercich react to everything that happened in today's tight finish, including: why the Vikings resiliency has lead to them being 6-0 in one-score games, Cousins' performance in his return to Washington, and Hockenson's effect in this Offense. Plus, Head Coach Kevin O'Connell speaks to the media, Gabe Henderson and Ben Leber go 'Between The Lines' presented by Gatorade, Quarterback Kirk Cousins shares his thoughts in his postgame press conference, and Ron Johnson gives his '3 Takes' to round out the show. All of this and more is in the Week 9 edition of the Vikings Postgame Report.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Helloooooo Dolfans and welcome to episode 16 of the Fins Family Podcast where if you're a Dolphins fan, you're family… and if you're not… well I guess you're still ok! I'm Anthony Pinzone and it's Saturday, October 15, 2022, and we're getting ready to kick off week 6 of the NFL regular season as our Miami Dolphins take on the mighty Vikings of Minnesota.Miami Dolphins Week 6 Injury ReportQB Tua Tagovailoa, OutQB Teddy Bridgewater, QuestionableRB Raheem Mostert, QuestionableTE Durham Smythe, QuestionableOT Terron Armstead, QuestionableCB Kader Kohou, DoubtfulDB Elijah Campbell, QuestionableMinnesota Vikings Week 6 Injury ReportRB Alexander Mattison, QuestionableLB D.J. Wonnum, QuestionableMiami Dolphins Keys to the GameGet Skylar Thompson into a rhythm with the short game, let the stars do their work.Raheem Mostert broke out last game, continue to build on it. Mike Gesicki should be more involved, he's a major advantage against a struggling defense and a safety valve for a young QB. Xavien Howard is back but still ailing, and Kader Kohou is out. Find a way to shut down Jefferson and let the other receivers try to beat you.Kirk Cousins is an average QB that will implode when under a lot of pressure, continue the aggressive defense, and force him into mistakes.Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison can really exhaust a defense, making this Vikings attack very well-balanced. Elite tackling by the safety tandem Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones will be paramount to stopping their attack.Special Teams - do better!Miami Dolphins vs. Minnesota Vikings Madden 23 PredictionMinnesota 24, Miami 3Skylar Thompson throws for less than 150 yards.Miami only runs the ball 9 times total.Miami forced 2 interceptions but failed to capitalize on them.Kirk Cousins throws for 250+ yards with 2 interceptions.Dalvin Cook runs for over 150 yards with 3 touchdowns.Fins Family Podcast Final Prediction: Miami Dolphins 10, Minnesota Viking 24Support the showThank you so much for listening, #FinsUp baby! Mike Max talks with Minnesota Vikings Defensive End D.J. Wonnum about training camp, the influence of Danielle Hunter, what he gets out of pre-season and more.
Mike Max recaps the MLS All-Star Activities with Minnesota United FC President Chris Wright, Minnesota Vikings DE D.J. Wonnum on training camp, Rev. Jerry McAfee from 21 Days of Peace on the shooting in downtown Minneapolis and more.
The Minnesota Vikings have completed mini camp and the team is on vacation, but that doesn't mean things stop here. Two Old Bloggers with Darren and Dave discussing interesting Vikings storylines as we head towards training camp. The analytics and statgasm folks are all excited about Cameron Dantzler. Inspired by Will Ragatz's piece earlier in the week, it turns out The Needle overall looks pretty damn effective as a cornerback. This is both against the pass and especially against the run. That is something the Ed Donatell defense will need. Exactly how effective was he? Is Dantzler the best CB on the team? What does that mean for Patrick Peterson and first-round draft pick Andrew Booth? We take a deep dive and deep thoughts on the forgotten players. Who are they? They are the ones chosen in mid to late rounds by the previous administration that saw little or no time in games. Are they worth their selections if they were just long-term prospects? Were they just ignored by Mike Zimmer who was in win-now mode and Rick Spielman went rogue? 2OB will look at those great unknowns. DJ Wonnum had the most sacks of his career last year. A lot of fans think that he's a rising star because of it, but is he? Could he be forgotten when all is said and done at the end of training camp? What does Ed Donatell want him to do? What does he need to do to convert to a 3-4 defensive outside linebacker, a rush edge? Can he do it? Darren Campbell and David Stefano are the Two Old Bloggers. Both started their public commentary on the Vikings two decades ago on various blogs. They now do it via live streams on YouTube and Facebook. We appreciate your team fandom and that you take the time to enjoy it with us. Here are the themes for the show: Theme #1: The analytics crowd loves Cameron Dantzler [inspired by @WillRagatz] Theme #2: The great unknowns Theme #3: Will D.J. Wonnum be the forgotten man of the Vikings defense? Down by a point, quarterback Derek Carr patiently drove the 7-7 Raiders into Cleveland territory in the final two minutes. Then Carlson shrugged off being iced by the Browns to boot his winner, keeping Las Vegas in the playoff mix. Vikings Tame Bears Kirk Cousins passed for two touchdowns and the Minnesota Vikings evened their record at 7-7 with a 17-9 victory over the Bears in Chicago. The two-time Pro Bowler also connected with Justin Jefferson for a 12-yard touchdown in the first quarter and threw a 7-yarder to Ihmir Smith-Marsette in the third. Dalvin Cook ran for 89 yards D.J. Wonnum had three sacks and the Vikings recovered three fumbles. The Bulls never trailed and led by 25 points during the first half. They have won two consecutive games and six of their last eight. The Rockets have lost five of their last seven despite 23 points and 11 rebounds from center Christian Wood. NHL Off until December 27 - COVID-19 NHL Pushes Pause On Season The NHL is beginning a leaguewide shutdown Wednesday amid an increase of positive COVID-19 test results among players across the league. Beginning the annual holiday break two days early means five additional games will be postponed, bringing the total this season to 49. More than a quarter of NHL teams had been shut down through at least the weekend because of the pandemic. The spread of delta and omicron variants across North America has led the NHL to postpone all cross-border games through the Christmas break and made Olympic participation unlikely. Darren and Dave are select 3 topics from yesterday's Minnesota Vikings vs Denver Broncos. Join the conversation! Topic 1: Panic?! It was a preseason game and there has been some panic already by fans across the internet, but should there be? 31 players didn't play including all of the starters on the offense and defense with the one exception of Stephen Weatherly and D.J. Wonnum. Maybe they were hoping one of those two would stand out? Both got a single pressure. This game can be viewed as the traditional 4th preseason game in the past with all the starters resting. Only difference is that the rest of the roster didn't have playing time in games 1-3 to work on getting their mistakes out and improving. Do you view it that way? Topic 2: Jake Browning and Kellen Mond. Mike Zimmer wasn't pleased to say the least. Browning didn't look as well as he did in practice but still has the QB2 spot secured at the moment. Mond at least moved, but seemed slow speeding up to the NFL level. You might expect that from a rookie 3rd rounder, but that is not what was hoped for. What did you think? Was there any flashes from either that you liked? Topic 3: Why is Dakota Dozier still on this team? The team will have to cut down to 85 players by Tuesday afternoon. Dozier should survive that first initial cut due to depth issues, but should he? He was in competition with Old Udoh for the right guard slot, so his play against the Broncos first team was more realistic than just about any other playing up to the competition level [Vikings 2s vs the Broncos 1s]. What does the team see in him that they re-signed him? Join us for your Minnesota Vikings talk amongst Two Old Bloggers and join the conversation! Fan with us!!!
