How to Fix Forward Head Posture MBC#62 Aaron Alexander

If you suffer from headaches, neck, or back pain, then forward head posture may be the culprit. One of the main questions I often get asked in the dental clinic is how to fix forward head posture. It's important to note that mouth breathing is often the root cause of forward head posture. The body and skeletal system moves muscles and supporting structures to accommodate breathing patterns. When our head posture or jaws are in the incorrect position, an open mouth is often a compensation in order to allow mouth breathing as a survival mechanism.Over time forward head posture puts pressure in the back of the skull, neck, and jaw. Symptoms can include:HeadachesNeck painJaw painJaw clickingShoulder painChest painDental decayGum diseaseVoice issuesTingling or numbness in handsSnoringTeeth grindingDifficulty to sleepMany patients we see in the dental clinic suffer from forward head posture due to mouth breathing habits. As we assess their jaw structure, we see that there are many movement based patterns that can help fix forward head posture.Today my guest is Aaron Alexander, who is the author of the Align Method and host of the Align podcast.Aaron has worked with some of world's greatest professional athletes, performers, celebrities, and everyone in between, to relieve pain while creating greater strength, flexibility, and ease in their mind and body. After working with thousands of clients and spending years backpacking around the world, being immersed in various cultures, he has come to the conclusion that the healthiest people are not gym rats. Instead, they naturally integrate the foundational principles outlined in The Align Method to strengthen their bodies, balance their minds, and activate their innate systems of healing in daily life.Aaron has simplified ancient techniques for cultivating vitality and assimilated them into modernized, simplified, movement-based principles for you to easily integrate into any situation throughout the day. When you do, every moment becomes an opportunity to develop greater strength, flexibility and confidence to truly step into your physical potential and drop the baggage of pain and limitation. You can find out more about Aaron Alexander at www.alignpodcast.comBuy the Align Method on AmazonAaron Alexander (@aaronalexander) • Instagram photos and videos

Carnivore Diet Plan For Weight Loss & Dental Health

Can a carnivore diet plan help you lose weight or even improve your teeth? Meat-based diet plans are growing in popularity to reverse obesity, but also type-II diabetes and even conditions like auto-immunity. So if you're looking to start with a carnivore diet plan, where do you get started? Firstly it's important to understand how a carnivore diet will affect your whole body, and the best place to start is your mouth. Anthropological evidence shows that the ancestral human diet is based on animal foods. Studies show that the human jaw grows sufficiently to fit wisdom teeth and prevent crooked teeth. It also shows that dental decay and gum disease did not exist in humans who ate a carnivore style diet with animal foods. While humans are omnivores, it's an interesting exploration to see how carnivore diet plans directly affect teeth. We know that most dental disease are caused by the overconsumption of sugar, refined flours, and carbohydrates that drive disease causing bacteria.Today my guest is the carnivore dentist, Dr. Kevin Stock. Dr. Stock is a practicing dentist who has used a carnivore diet for his own performance and exercise based goals as well as the benefits exposed to his patients.Dr Stock's driving compass is to optimizing health and fitness, Early in his career he was drawn to a niche area of dentistry called Dental Sleep Medicine (DSM). After graduating dental school, he opened a practice strictly dedicated to treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and helping people sleep better by breathing better. He is currently developing a comfortable, convenient, cost-effective solution for sleep disordered breathing. This led to years of research, development, and testing that resulted in the NED Device, a patented nasal device to treat snoring.Throughout his career he has used the history of human dietary consumption and helps his patients to use a carnivore diet plan for better dental health. To learn more about Dr. Kevin Stock you can visit: https://www.kevinstock.io/https://www.instagram.com/kevinstock12/https://www.youtube.com/user/KevinJStockGuitar cover end of episode: 3am by Matchbox 20

It's about bridging the gap between the physical development of the mouth and the child's ability to engage with the world around them effectively. The vital role of a child's breathing patterns is often underestimated, yet it plays a critical part in their overall development—impacting sleep, educational growth, behavior, and even the physical development of their jaws and face, not to mention their long-term health. Is your child grappling with snoring, attention challenges, ADHD-like symptoms, emotional regulation difficulties, recurrent ear infections, speech or feeding issues, teeth grinding or misalignment, etc.? These common problems may be signals of a deeper concern rooted in improper breathing or non-restorative sleep. In the medical community, there's a significant gap in addressing these issues; too often healthcare providers overlook inquiring about children's breathing or sleep patterns. This oversight can lead to a dismissive attitude towards these critical health indicators, summed up by the all too familiar "they'll grow out of it." Unfortunately, children with unresolved breathing and sleep deficiencies may not simply outgrow these problems. Instead, they may develop alternate health issues that undermine their potential well into their adult years.Recognizing the gravity of this situation, Dr. Shereen Lim, a pioneer among Australian dentists with qualifications in dental sleep medicine, brings over ten years of experience to the table in dealing with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Lim advocates for early intervention in airway health, transitioning away from merely managing symptoms of dysfunctional breathing towards fostering proper airway development from infancy.Embarking on a journey with Dr. Lim's philosophy through her guiding principles of 'Breathe, Sleep, Thrive', you'll gain insight into recognizing crucial developmental milestones and signs of healthy airway and breathing configurations, pinpoint potential issues, and discover actionable strategies to correct these paths. One study found that children who consumed high amounts of sugar exhibited more anxiety, depression, and hyperactivity than those who consumed a lower amount. Another study found that consuming sugar-sweetened beverages decreased cognitive function in children. This week my guest is Professor Michael Goran, a renowned expert in childhood nutrition and obesity research. He is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, and Co-Director of the USC Diabetes and Obesity Research Institute.Professor Goran is the author of the book "Sugarproof: The Hidden Dangers of Sugar That Are Putting Your Child's Health at Risk and What You Can Do" along with Emily Ventura. In this book, Goran explores the impact of sugar on children's health and provides insights on how to protect children from excessive sugar intake.Limiting and reducing sugar intake is a great way for all parents to improve the health of their children. To learn more visit: https://www.sugarproofkids.com/https://www.instagram.com/sugarproofkids/?hl=en

The mechanism may lie in vitamin D's crucial role in sleep.Studies have found that a deficiency of vitamin D may be associated with an increased risk of sleep disorders, including poor sleep quality, shorter duration of sleep, and daytime sleepiness. One theory is that vitamin D plays a role in regulating circadian rhythms, which could affect sleep-wake cycles. In a meta-analysis examining the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and sleep disorders, the results showed that serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D, a marker of vitamin D levels, were inversely associated with an increased risk of sleep disorders.Another systematic review and meta-analysis found that vitamin D supplementation may improve sleep quality and total sleep time, particularly in people with sleep disorders.Stasha Gominak is a neurologist who focusses on the link between sleep quality and vitamin D levels. Early-stage symptoms include high blood sugars, which may lead to insulin resistance.  Reducing your sugar intake before eye damage occurs may be an effective strategy to prevent diabetic retinopathy and blindness. My guest today is ophthalmologist Dr. James Muecke AM. Dr. Mueke has dedicated his career to the prevention of blindness and ophthalmic research. He founded the non-profit organization Sight For All, which is dedicated to fighting all causes of blindness.Dr. Mueke's contribution to blindness prevention was recognized with the titles South Australian of the Year and Australian of the Year for 2020.Dr. Mueke tells his personal professional story, the communities he has worked in, and the impact that his organization, Sight For All has had. Cardiovascular disease is a chronic disease that is present many years before a stroke or cardiac arrest occur.   Recent research has revealed that inflammation in the heart tissues and arteries can be a driving factor in cardiovascular disease progression. There is also evidence to suggest that gum or periodontal disease has direct links to cardiovascular inflammation.Your gums are a vast bacterial and vascular network that can communicate with the entire body. Bacteria found in the mouth can mimic those that cause an immune reaction against heart tissue. If you have bleeding gums or have been told you have gum disease, then your risk of heart disease could be higher. To discuss the mouth-heart connection with me today is Dr. Thomas LarkinDr. Tom Larkin is the founder of Proactive Oral Wellness and implements the Bale Doneen preceptorship in 2013, he designed the professional training course for dental phase-contrast microscopy and advanced prevention. An expert in dental start-ups and acquisitions, Dr. Larkin works closely with practices that desire to make the shift to preventative wellness models. You can read more about Dr. Larkin's approachwww.tomlarkin.comwww.powhygiene.com
