On this episode we look back at 1995's dark fantasy film The City of Lost Children starring Ron Perlman.https://www.spreaker.com/episode/the-city-of-lost-children--72641406We also discuss recent movies #mastersoftheuniverse #disclosureday and #thefuriousAn international co-production of companies from France, Germany, and Spain, 1995's The City of Lost Children was the second film directed by Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Their previous film Delicatessen, released in 1991, was described as a zany post-apocalyptic black comedy in the style of Terry Gilliam. Based on the success of both Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children, Jeunet would go on to direct 1997's Alien Resurrection and 2001's award winning romantic comedy Amelie. The City of Lost Children not only got its own Playstation game, but would also become a huge inspiration for both the Fallout and Bioshock video game franchises.Fallout designer Tim Cain listed the film among the cinematic influences on the game's art direction, and later said that elements of Fallout's power armor and technology aesthetic drew from the film's helmet eyepieces, tubing, and vents. This movie is also inspired the visual design of the video game BioShock (2007). From the scene of the man in scuba gear carrying a child to the parts where she climbs and descends from the pipes look like they came straight out of the underwater city of Rapture.

Still soaking up some of the Summer sun, so this week I'm taking you back to a Flashback Episode where I talk about how it was like growing up as a kid in the 90's during the Summer in Chicago. Here's the original preview: This week, I take a stroll down memory lane—Chicago summers as a kid, where living near Madigan felt like political trip to the amusement park (minus the funnel cakes & bribery charges). I dive into my son's very serious investigation into who's hotter, recap his unexpected transformation into a school bus superhero, and yes, the cats have officially started acting like actual dogs… metaphorically (for now).Big shoutout to the Sportsbook for the clutch tickets—proving once again, the way to my heart is through premium seating. Taylor Dayne brings her good to our 250th episode. She's a Grammy-nominated, American Music Award-winning vocal powerhouse who has conquered the Top 20 on the Billboard Top 100 chart 17 times landing 7 times in the Top 10.Taylor's unbelievable career ascent has taken her from sold-out rock concerts to starring on Broadway in Aida to the semi-finals of the Masked Singer. In 2022, an unexpected diagnosis of colon cancer did little to slow her down and made her an advocate for promoting early detection and regular cancer screenings. We talk with Taylor about what drives her, how she chooses her songs (or if they choose her), and exactly what was that whole thing with Tig Notaro even about. This is a reunion of sorts as World Gone Good host, Steve, originally met Taylor at a mutual friend's last-minute cocktail hour in Santa Barbara. Funny how things work out, ain't it? Get ready to 'Tell It To My Heart' with the amazing Taylor Dayne here with us to celebrate episode #250! __________________ June 13 and July 12 - grab your seat to SLIDESHOW: IN COLOR! now playing in London. ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Dracula: "Dracula is so girly pop!" How does ACOFAE get Jessica Marie to watch a horror film? Tell her that is has Gary Oldman and Keanu Reeves in it will do the trick! ACOFAE is covering Dracula a couple different ways: Francis Ford Coppola's 1992 classic film AND the 1897 novel itself. Did you know Dracula begins in May? Jonathan Harker is on his way to Transylvania and his life is about to change in unexpected ways. Mina, his fiancé, and her best friend, Lucy, are in England and wait for Jonathan's return. What Dracula is and what he does becomes the stuff of legend and it all begins here. Laura Marie has read the book, Jessica Marie has watched the movie and together a discussion emerges about morality, purity, and how the addition of a love story changes the view of Dracula from villain to..something else. "Good for Lucy." Now, 33 years after that track came out in the UK, Suzette's debut album is finally about to be released. Comprising faithfully re-recorded versions of the original six tracks that Suzette previously worked on with Mike at PWL and five brand-new songs, Suzette Charles is the long-awaited resolution to a thread that has been dangling for SAW fans since 1993. In this special episode, Suzette and Mike discuss how they reunited to collaborate musically again and how the album came together, including what it was like to recreate the original songs and the inspiration for the new tunes.Support the showSubscribe for bonus material at chartbeats.com.au/sawInstagram: @chartbeatsauThreads: @chartbeatsau, @matthew_denby360Bluesky: @chartbeatsau, @matthewdenby.bsky.socialFacebook: Chart Beats: A Journey Through PopEmail: chartbeats.au@gmail.com
