Emo ambient? That's just one way to describe the ever-evolving work of boundary-pushing artist Mari Maurice, better known as more eaze. Her prolific output defies the norms of the music world, blending ambient, noise, autotune, and pedal steel with a deeply personal, human touch. In this episode, Mari shares her unique approach to making music that dissolves the lines between pop and what's considered, in inverted commas, „serious“ music. Her collaboration with claire rousay on Never Stop Texting Me beautifully exemplifies this artistic ethos. We talk about the challenges Mari faced in Austin's experimental scene and the creative freedom she‘s discovered since relocating to New York. Immersed in the city‘s rich musical landscape, she's embraced collaboration and opened up new dimensions in her sound, drawing from both minimalist and maximalist influences to reshape her approach to composition.Mari also reflects on the joy of making experimental music more accessible, sharing how a live performance sparked her own musical journey and shaped her ethos as an artist. Along the way, we explore the serendipitous nature of sound creation and the growing acceptance of pop elements in avant-garde music. If you're enjoying the show, please consider subscribing and leaving a rating or review on Apple, Spotify, Amazon, or wherever you listen. Festival organizers Dusty Brooks and Dorian Domi have a unique partnership dating back to their one-time relationship as friendly competitors -- booking shows into competing Austin venues -- and have since joined forces to create Oblivion Access Festival (once known as Terror Fest) taking place in Austin, TX, June 15-18. Both native Texans and long-time Austin residents, these two powerhouses know the Austin music scene better than most, and have compiled a multi-varied, Metal and Hip-Hop-oriented festival, with a compelling Arts component to open the summer season in Austin. Most importantly, Oblivion Access has a deep commitment to inclusivity of all forms of self-expression -- a core value of the Metal world -- and Dusty and Dorian speak about the Festival going beyond the music itself to create a truly safe space for those seeking an outlet for their own creativity and individuality.  We are truly grateful for Dusty and Dorian and Oblivion Access Festival and applaud their hard work and efforts to create beauty through Live Music in this increasingly difficult world inhabit. On today's episode, I am joined by OG Austinite, and my ACL & Concert Bestie, Nick Moreau, aka “Yonce”. Nick has become one of my closest friends and someone who is a modern-day historian of Austin's staple events like SXSW, ACL and Blues on the Green. Our shared loved of music brought us together, but some of my most memorable stories in Austin have been with him. Nick is authentically and unapologetically himself and doesn't hold back when it comes to being REAL, and supporting his friends and causes he cares about. We talk about his love for Max Frost and the stages of “Lit Nick” at Love & Lightstream, his wild run-in with Tierra Whack's posse at ACL and casually attempting to walk off the ACL stage at James Blake, and how his love of music has made him the ultimate hype man at any event we're at together. Please enjoy this very special episode with my festie bestie, Nick Moreau, and if you could please rate, leave a review and share this episode with others!Guest: Nick Moreau (Yonce)Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yonceMake sure to tune in every Wednesday to watch new episodes of “Concert Queen Connect” and make sure to ‘like' and ‘subscribe' to our YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbNiyZMWKbK2pH4J2rdj69Q?sub_confirmation=1Host: Clarissa CardenasIG: https://www.instagram.com/atxconcertqueen/ Website: http://www.theconcertqueen.com Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/theconcertqueenVenmo: https://account.venmo.com/u/Concert-QueenListen to our podcast:Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/concert-queen-connect/id1538535270Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6y3m5SLW5CnBvBpvh7cXgT?si=dN1Vlr9eQf2diQFrPIffugProducer: Steve Souza (http://www.souzamedia.com)IG : https://www.instagram.com/the.souz/

Singer-songwriter BOB LIVINGSTON has never been a traditional Texas country musician living the honky-tonk life, even though he's spent more than his share of time on the roadhouse circuit with some of the most colorful musicians in Texas. As a member of Austin's legendary Lost Gonzo Band, performing and recording with such musical visionaries as Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphey and Ray Wylie Hubbard, Livingston played an integral role in creating the music that first earned Austin the designation of 'Live Music Capital of the World'. Achieving recognition in their own right, the Gonzos' self-titled debut record was named by 'Rolling Stone', "one of the best albums ever to come out of Austin ".Livingston has seen a lot of the world since growing up in musically fertile West Texas. Hailing originally from Lubbock, his interests were more 'Cosmic' than 'Cowboy' and have prompted him to delve into the music and mysteries of many cultures. Traveling since the 80's as a Music Ambassador for the US State Department, Livingston has taken Texas music as far afield as India, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East , demonstrating again and again the unique power that music has to build bridges between peoples of the world. As Livingston says, 'When all else fails, music prevails'. This philosophy earned him the honor of being appointed,' Austin's International Music Ambassador', in November of 2009 by the City Council. This world traveled view was reflected in his album, 'Mahatma Gandhi and Sitting Bull', released in 2004 and named by the Austin American-Statesman as one of the year's Top 10 CDs. Working with producer, Lloyd Maines, Livingston only half jokingly calls his new project, 'The Flesh and Blood Sessions'. The new CD, to be entitled, 'Gypsy Alibi' is in the final stages of mixing and will be released in November.
