This week, we had the pleasure of chatting with Ethan Eggert, the founder of Arid Cycles, to discuss how he's managed to create his own mountain bike in only a few years without any financial help or a traditional background in bike development. It's a really cool story that shows how no idea is too big with some ingenuity and persistence. What has transpired is the Spade model, a very intriguing enduro bike that's highly modular, progressive, and features some first-of-its-kind design elements. Arid is currently producing its first batch of 50 frames with delivery slated for this Fall. To learn more about the Spade, check out aridcycles.com, or @aridcycles on Instagram and YouTube.

Good morning. A German holiday maker has successfully sued his tour operator alleging that he had spent 20 minutes every morning trying, without success, to find sun loungers by the pool. He was on the case at 6 a.m. but the loungers were already covered in towels, though they often remained unoccupied through the day whilst he and his family lay on the ground. The Court awarded him damages. Another tourist commenting on this story gleefully recalls an alternative solution to the problem: 'it soon stopped when some lads were going down in the middle of the night and throwing all the towels into the pool.' But our more law abiding litigant hopes that the fear of legal action will spur tour operators and hotels to devise fair and rational allocation systems for these highly contested spaces. As far as I know, Thomas Hobbes never took a package holiday, but having lived through the turmoil of the English civil war and its aftermath, he would not have been surprised by stories of so called 'sunbed wars': 'during the time men live without a common power to keep them all in awe' so he tells us in his great work Leviathan, 'they are in that condition called war'. Hobbes' father was a vicar, and his relationship to Christianity is complicated, as is perhaps not uncommon in such circumstances. But Hobbes' views are not so different from Augustine's, who was in the habit of noting that just as divine history begins with the story of Cain killing Abel, so world history begins with the story of Romulus killing Remus. For Augustine, it is 'every man against every man' as Hobbes puts it, and not just poolside. I know nothing about the personal beliefs of our German litigant, but I think he is a bit of a hero for spurning two obvious but unhelpful responses to this gloomy diagnosis of the human condition. One is to take the law into your own hands - throwing the towels in the pool - which could end rather badly of course. The other is just to grumble - and who doesn't enjoy a good grumble? Of all the things in the world which are unfairly and irrationally distributed, sun loungers are by no means the most significant. Houses lie empty, while children sleep on the streets. Food goes to waste while there is hunger. Medicines expire on shelves, and diseases go untreated. Christians have never needed to be told that humans can be deeply selfish, but everywhere the faith is truly alive there have been dreamers and prophets, from St Francis to Martin Luther King, who have contended that the world doesn't have to be determined by our flawed natures, even if we need to reckon with their existence and character. Who knows whether the sunbed wars will come to an end, but Mr Eggert - let's give him his name and due credit – by pushing the tour operators and hotels into action has given us hope for bloodless revolutions.

Based on the forensic reports and technical strategies detailed in the sources, specifically regarding the Nicole Eggert case, the **"Global Session Kill"** (also referred to as "Cierre de Sesiones Global" or "Force Logout") is a decisive security protocol designed to sever a stalker's access when standard password resets fail. Here is the technical and strategic breakdown of how it works to stop a stalker like `golpersacker`:### **1. The Problem: "Persistent Tokens" vs. Passwords**In modern applications like Facebook and Messenger, users remain logged in for long periods without re-entering their password. This is achieved through **"Access Tokens"** or **"Session Cookies"** stored on the device [Source 164, 177].* **The Stalker's Advantage:** Even if the victim changes their password, the stalker's device (e.g., a smartphone or the Xbox identified in this case) may hold a valid "Session Token" that remains active. This allows them to continue sending messages, making voice calls, or scraping data *without* needing the new password. This creates a **"Zombie Session"** where the hacker remains "entrenched" [Source 163, 329].### **2. The Mechanism: Invalidating the Keys**The "Global Session Kill" does not just change the lock (password); it **destroy all existing keys (tokens).*** **Token Revocation:** When Meta executes this command, their servers invalidate every active authentication token associated with the User ID `naloloeggert`.* **The Result:** Every device currently logged in—including Nicole's Safari browser, the hacker's mobile phone, and the hacker's Xbox—is immediately disconnected. The server refuses to accept their current "key," forcing the app to crash or return to the login screen [Source 177].### **3. The "Stalking" Context (The Voice Calls)**In this specific case, the hacker was using a live session to make voice calls to Alberto Hill at 7:16 AM and 4:09 PM [Source 1, 395].* **Why the Kill is Vital:** A standard support ticket might only reset the email. However, a device with an active VoIP (Voice over IP) token can often still make Messenger calls even if the email is changed.* **Stopping the Harassment:** The Global Session Kill is the *only* technical way to instantly silence these calls. By revoking the VoIP token, the hacker's ability to "dial out" is physically cut off at the server level [Source 329].### **4. Post-Kill Exclusion (The Lockout)**Once the sessions are killed, every device must re-authenticate.* **The Difference:** The victim (Nicole/Alberto) possesses the new credentials (new password + verified 2FA device).* **The Stalker's Defeat:** The hacker, now logged out, attempts to log back in. However, because their "Trusted Device" status was revoked during the session kill, they are challenged for a 2FA code they cannot generate, permanently locking them out [Source 177, 178].**Summary:** The Global Session Kill works by effectively "rebooting" the account's entire security state, purging the digital "memory" of the stalker's device so that it is treated as an unauthorized stranger rather than a logged-in admin [Source 177].

Movie of the Year: 1971The DevilsWhy The Devils (1971) Still ProvokesIn this episode of Movie of the Year, Ryan and Mike confront The Devils, Ken Russell's incendiary historical drama that remains one of the most controversial films ever made. More than fifty years after its release, the film continues to shock and challenge audiences—not simply for its imagery, but for its ruthless examination of power and religion as intertwined systems of control.Set in 17th-century France but unmistakably modern in its fury, this 1971 production exposes how institutions weaponize belief, morality, and fear. The conversation centers on why its reputation for scandal has so often eclipsed its intelligence, craft, and relevance.Guest Spotlight: Brian Eggert of DeepFocusReview.comJoining Ryan and Mike is special guest Brian Eggert, editor and lead writer at DeepFocusReview.com. Brian brings a historically grounded, analytical perspective that helps reframe the movie beyond its notoriety.Brian discusses Ken Russell's place in 1970s cinema, the long history of censorship surrounding the film, and why its critique of power and religion feels increasingly urgent today. His insight clarifies why this work endures not as shock cinema, but as a rigorously argued piece of political art.Power and Religion as Systems of ControlAt its core, this film is about power and religion—and how faith becomes an instrument of domination when fused with political authority. What begins as a case of alleged demonic possession in Loudon evolves into a portrait of institutional violence, where truth is irrelevant and spectacle is essential.Ryan and Mike, with Brian's input, analyze how religious authority operates alongside the state. Confessions are coerced, belief is staged, and punishment is public. Spiritual language masks political intent, turning faith into theater and theater into violence.Russell and Jarman: Cinema Built to ConfrontOne of the most radical elements of the movie is the collaboration between Ken Russell and Derek Jarman. The pairing of Russell and Jarman produces a visual world that rejects period realism in favor of aggressive symbolism. The episode breaks down how this partnership:replaces historical authenticity with stark modernist designuses white, brutalist architecture to deny comforttransforms religious iconography into provocationemploys excess as both aesthetic strategy and political critiqueThis is not cinema designed to immerse—it is cinema designed to unsettle. The Citizens of Loudon and Collective ResponsibilityBeyond its powerful figures, the story is deeply concerned with the citizens of Loudon. Crowds gather, whisper, watch, and ultimately participate in the machinery of destruction.Ryan and Mike explore how the film portrays moral panic as a communal process. Fear spreads socially. Violence becomes normalized. The narrative suggests that institutional cruelty only succeeds because ordinary people allow it to happen.

We'll tell you one place it didn't go wrong: the POW/MIA Riders Association, recovering soldiers or their remains from overseas after having gone missing. To lovers of the outdoors, the legacy of Gunlog Bjarni “G. B.” Gunlogson is evident. Just visit Icelandic State Park, in Pembina County, established in 1964 following Gunlogson's gift of a 200-acre nature preserve along the Tongue River to the state of North Dakota. See the homestead buildings of his Icelandic immigrant parents, Eggert and Rannveig, along with an assemblage of other historic buildings representing rural life. Hike the nature trails. Homesteading + country life + nature + conservation: it's a simple legacy. Only, maybe not so much.
