I will start out with saying that I am giving myself the flexibility of the time zone stamp of the recording and publishing of an episode, in order to stay on track. I am located in the Central European Time zone, but I am often working according to the Eastern Standard Time, giving me a buffer of 6 hours. If I want to stretch it, I could include American Samoa into the game, and add 3 more hours to my daily worklife. ;) I want to make a correction to the previous episode. I mixed up Amy Peikoff’s news sandwich and started out with the bad news, then the good news item, and ending with another bad news. It should be two good news ideas (the bread), and only one bad piece, sandwiching it between the two pieces of ”bread”… I am including screen dumps from the recording of this episode, using the new Backpack Studio app. With this app, I will be able to record the solo shows in an easy way. I learned about this app from listening to Libsyn’s official podcast. Back then it was called Boss Jock Studio. I will talk more about this app in future episodes, telling you about my experiences with the new app, features, etc. Show notes: Backpack Studio app Libsyn’s offcial podcast, The Feed, episode 121 (listen to the answer to my question, around timestamp 22 minutes). Backpage Studio - Instagram Ed Filowat - Twitter Soundsnap - “tea kettle” Episode 59 (11 minutes) was recorded on January 2, 2019 (American time! ;) ), by podcaster, Martin Lindeskog, with Backpack Studio app, IK Multimedia iRig Mic Cast podcasting microphone, PreSonus HD7 professional monitoring headphones, and SnapRecorder portable recording booth. Post-production through the podcast maker, Alitu. Notes written in Ulysses app. Bumper and jingle by Jim Jonsson, JTunes Productions.

This solo episode is a shout-out to fellow authors, podcasters, and tea drinkers! A comment on my first book on tea, “knocked” me down for a bit. As I am in the process of publish my first book on tea, I plan for launching a tea party, a late summer break, and a kick-start of a new career path as an author and a guide on how to make the perfect cuppa. I have created an account on CreateSpace and I have ordered 10 International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN) from the National Library of Sweden. I will order a small print-on-demand batch from a local printer in Gothenburg. When I have a copy of the hardcover book in my hand, I will take some time and celebrate. I got very inspired by the episode, Taking Breaks, of Creative Minds podcast. This has been a long journey from tinkering on the topic, writing, and self-publishing the book. And now it is time to think about the launch and marketing of the book. After I had published the latest blog post, Remembering the Copper Pot, I watched a webinar with Tim Grahl. I had bought his first book, Your First 1000 Copies, around the same time (2013) I got the idea to write a book on tea. I am now going through Tim’s course, Launch a Bestseller. For your information, I have the following individuals in the pipeline as future guests: Carina Ridenius, Brian Phillips, and a follow-up conversation with Jon Ferrara. I have come to the conclusion that I will shoot for at least one episode per month of this podcast, as I am involved in so many other podcasts at the moment (Aviani, Hemberedskap, Management Studio, MenyPodden, Pen Meets Paper, Produktivitéet, PoddRadio), as a host, co-host, and a producer. With that said, and to show that I have a Message, I am planning a new podcast together with an individual, working in an industry that could be interesting for my fellow podcasters and other content creators. I will never stop learning, so I will also start another podcast on tea. Talking about learning, I am eager to learn more about tea, but I am not sure that I will become a tea sommelier, or tea master in the near future... I am planning to take some more courses, e.g., by Being Tea, and participate in tea tastings. I will become a member of the American Specialty Tea Alliance. My goal is to visit different tea plantations in North America, and other places around the world. I will visit Sweden’s second tea plantation (Greta’s tea) in the making later on this moth, and I want to visit Camellia Sinensis Gotland in the near future. "The road less traveled is less traveled for a reason". In this episode we dive into the mind of a comedy legend in order to see what makes him tick and discover his secrets to successful storytelling. We also hear some surprising insights into his about work-life balance. He's a writer, comedian, actor, director and producer who is worth over $670M. He made a show about nothing (which still brings him over $60M each year) making him the most successful comedian the world has ever seen. He's Jerry Seinfeld and you're going to love what he has to tell you. ** Jerry's comedy sets are 70-75 minutes, so I thought it only fair that we devoted a similar amount of time to Ten Words! ** LINKS Jerry's website Follow Jerry on Twitter Comedians in Cars on Netflix Interesting facts about Jerry from Rolling Stone The commercial success of Seinfeld Jerry's interview with Bob Roth about Transcendental Meditation Talking Funny with Chris Rock, Ricky Gervais and Louis CK Dissecting Jerry's PopTart joke Seinfeld's theme played by Anna Sentina SHOW NOTES This week I tried a different format and placed all my audio clips as post-it notes (instead of my usual Duarte notebook method) - matched to the mixing desk in BossJock Studio. "Fired Up? Ready to Go". x2 For the first official episode of the Ten Words podcast we are taking a closer look at the skinny kid with the big ears (who's not from Kenya) and managed to defy all the odds to become the 44th President of the United States. Widely regarded as one of the greatest speakers of recent generations, this episode takes a deep dive into how he managed to inspire so many people with his words, and what inspired him to break down his manifesto down into bite-sized chunks and soundbites - without diluting their meaning. He spoke well, but many people thought he was all style without much substance. So we'll have a dig into that too. I also attempt to give a famous speech that I've never given before! It's fun, it's fast, there's music, there's singing, and there's a ton of great quotes that may also inspire you to tell your own story a little bit better. Each week I'll post the show notes, links and a photo of my notebook along with the Bossjock Studio screenshot, so you can see my working process (if you're interested). Enjoy. The notes I used for this episode, drawn in the same way that I write all my keynotes. More info on the process here if you're interested. FS 260: Ari Lamstein on Making Money From Open Source This week on The Freelancers’ Show the panelists are Philip Morgan, Curtis McHale, Jonathan Stark, and Reuven Lerner. Special guest Ari Lamstein is here to discuss how to make money from Open Source. [00:02:05] Introduction to Ari Ari is a trainer and consultant who specializes in teaching the R programming language. He wrote Chloroplethr, which is an R package that makes it easy to make Chloropleth maps in R. [00:03:45] Chloroplethr A presidential map is a chloropleth map that expresses value for states using just one color. Other things that can be measured using a chloropleth map would be population, disease rates, and unemployment rates. The package that Ari wrote makes it easy to write maps in the R language, which is why Chloroplethr is spelled as one word. [00:05:26] How did you get into Open Source R? Ari worked as a software engineer in San Francisco. In 2013 he discovered the R programming language while trying to figure out how to do analysis of data at the real estate company where he was working. All the company data had a spatial component to it. Charts were not enough to analyze this data because they were trying to understand geographic patterns. In 2013 R didn’t have the ability to do exactly what he wanted so he wrote his own package. In 2014 he released it to the R community. [00:08:04] Where you doing this on your free time? His company was very generous. During Innovation week, which happens once a quarter, he was able to choose a project to work on. He chose this and was able to do it both during Innovation weeks at work and free time. [00:10:30] Monetizing Chloroplethr On February 17, 2015 everything changed. 2013 he was Learning R, in 2014 he had the skills and it seemed like an open field. Scheduled to give a talk about Chloroplethr and he got an email at work saying he was laid off due to his company being acquired by another. He knew he had to figure out how to make money from Chloroplethr. In December he monetized Chloroplethr by self-publishing a course and made $3,500 during the launch. After that he got a training and consulting lead. [00:14:05] Did you try other approaches to monetization along the way? Was the course the first stop? Nothing worked as well as the course did. [00:15:19] What other things did you try? He closed blog posts asking for people to hire him in 2015. Now he tells customers he does not provide free support for Chloroplethr but tells them about a $49 bundle a month he sells. [00:17:14] Not Offering Free Support There are a lot of free opportunities in the R community; free programs are not hard to find. There is a split of what people in the R community think about not offering free support. Other experienced developers in the Open Source community want to learn how to monetize their own projects. There are also a lot of hobbyists. They are spoiled by having access to a lot of free stuff, so they have been vocal about not liking that they have to pay for support. It's been surprising for him. It is good for market research. Unanswered stack overflow questions can show the opportunity that developers have in the Chloroplethr world. There is a high demand but no supply for expertise. It also points out the disparity between people taking action that involves paying money verses their need for that solution. [00:39:30] If someone is starting from scratch and they had a project they wanted to monetize? The best advice Ari got was from Nathan Barry’s book Authority. In the book is a marketing strategy called audience building. Ari recommends that developers create audiences based around their project. There are three tactics he recommends for how to monetize R packages. He created an acronym for these tactics: the Best Darn System (BDS) for monetizing an R package. B = Build an email list of people who are interested in your package. D = Deliver free training to your email list. S = Sell a training product to your list. Ari explains the need for an email list is because of the need to be able to initiate contact with people. Even though Twitter is active for R developers, engagement rates for email are better than Twitter. People have a hard time believing it because they think email is spam. He tries to get people comfortable using email as a marketing channel. The most popular thing he has done online is to create a free email course called “Learn to map census data in R.” The course teaches people how to use Chloroplethr how to map census data in R. He had 600 people sign up for the course in a few days. [00:45:05] Do you regret not having made Chloroplethr commercial? No. He feels it is one of the most interesting things he has done in his career and loves that the R community has so much free stuff. The only change he would make would be to know what he knows now about sales and marketing when he first started. [00:47:20] Did you ever have your employer claim ownership of anything having to do with Chloroplethr? Ari had to speak to his lawyer when he wanted to release Chloroplethr. The package system made it a special case. He had to file it under an Open Source license. The company’s lawyer wanted it to be under a BSD 3 license, which it was eventually released under. Ari’s employer owns the copywrite but the license is a BSD 3. That is unrelated to the product that was actually sold. In Episode 39 I spoke with David Karon of KHDK electronics about their line of effects and especially the Scuzz Box. After the interview (and during a hurricane) I ordered my Scuzz Box from The Guitar Guru Network on Reverb.com and waited with excitement for it to arrive. Well....IT's HERE!!!! So I opened it, put it on the board and recorded my first impressions for the show. My set up for the show was my Epiphone SG and Mexican Start into the Scuzz Box, then my Ghoul Screamer, then my Boss FBM-1, then the TC Electronic Wiretap, and finally my Vox AC4. I recorded everything with one mic, Blue Snowball, plugged into my iPad running Bossjock Studio. Ian torn between micing the amp and doing a "real" recording and the "live recording that i did. I opted for "live" because my ultimate goal is for you to hear the pedal as i hear it. For example, on the "Scuzz" setting you can hear the gate kick in and then hear my strings (acoustically) still vibrating even though the gate had kicked in.Let us know on Twitter and Instagram what you think!

Website Hosting Issues [spp-timestamp time="1:48"] Dave has been with Hostgator.com forever (you can get 25% off using the coupon code " podcastcoach " ). He loves their support, but lately it seems like he is having more and more issues. He is thinking of moving the School of Podcasting to WPEngine.com before he does jim and Dave talk about some optional website hosting companies like Maplegrove Partners. Clammr Dicusssion with Daniel J Lewis. Daniel is enjoying sharing other content, consuming other content (without subscribing to the show), as well as sharing his own content. Daniel is from the Audacity to Podcast What do you think of doing a show that would be super short like 20 seconds long. A short podcast makes you get to the point. [spp-timestamp time="10:45"] Is there a difference between a www.askthepodcastcoach.com and just askthepodcastcoach.com (looks like a caching issue - and it was). The Simple Podcast Press plugin now allows you to jump to a certain point in your show. Dave, Jim and Daniel talk about working with smaller companies. [spp-timestamp time="17:40"] Do something nice for someone else Dave contributed to Kathy Kelly's book about Autism. Kathy successfully raised Nine thousand dollars towards to publishing of her book. Small Company Discussion (Continued) [spp-timestamp time="20:10"] The Simple Podcast Press plugin now allows you to jump to a certain point in your show. It will also make a list of your past show (coming in the future) and you can also change the color of the player. Workign with smaller companies that can pivot and change quickly unlike a bigger company that has to go through a committee. Podbean Update - Now Available with a Redirect [spp-timestamp time="25:45"] Dave is confused by their front page, and it turns out they do have a way to redirect your show podcast RSS feed. They do have support (I had to use them once when my downloads stopped working for no reason). Podcasts.com kind of dodged the question to a yes/no question. Podcasts.com came on the scene recently so I sent them: 1. How do you make money (business plan). A: Some of the podcasts have ads on their searchable directory index page on Podcasts.com page. Those ads pay for the costs. 2. Do you change my mp3 file name? 3. Do you change my mp3 ID# tags? 4. Do you change the bit rate of my show (stereo/mono/bit rate) A: 2 – 4 – Those are all part of our management portal. These are yes no questions, and when you don’t answer them I assume the worst. 5. Do you supply an RSS redirect in the event I don’t want to use your service. A: We do not at this time. 6. Is there a way to show my rss feed from my website (that I use to manage my show) instead of the RSS feed from podcasts.com A: You could create a redirect URL on your site which you can give out and have it just redirect to ours. Notice the tech support person is trying to get me to redirect my traffic to their website. (Or its a person who doesn’t understand podcasting, or they don’t want to display anything from your website). In speaking with Daniel J Lewis of the Audacity to Podcast, he had stated that he had some email exchanges and they seemed open to putting a link back to your website. Take it for what it’s worth. I see it as a platform for secondary distribution. Podclear and Soundcloud are now out of Beta Podclear is a way to record skype calls, and Soundcloud has been rumored to be losing money and looking for schedule D funding. The worst case scenario in the past was Podango which was a media hosting company that gave their customers a week to leave. Mixlr free year for Jim ran out. Their interface is a bit confusing at time. Michael Ray Has Questions About Owning Your RSS Feed [spp-timestamp time="41:17 "] Dave uses Libsyn's feed for his show. When his website had an issue, his show came out as it always does because Libsyn was fine (and his audience is subscribed to his RSS feed on Libsyn). You should have at a minimum a Contact Page, and the About Page. From there its up to you. You can use the cryptx plugin to cut down on people spamming your podcast. You can look at other websites to use as ideas on how you can create your menus. Next Week Will Be the First Ever Dave-less Show Dave will be out next week, but Jim is going to get the keys and Drive. Recording On the Road Kathy wants to know record on the road. You can use the Voice Memo app and upload it to Dropbox. There are other tools like Bossjock Studio, and Rode LE on your phone.

Podcasters Are Taking Home Award - Because of my Podcast Amateur Traveler Podcast wins Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award Chris Christensen is a winner in the 2014 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition, taking an Honorable Mention in the Travel Broadcast — Audio category for “Amateur Traveler: Travel to Flanders in Belgium” (http://europe.amateurtraveler.com/travel-flanders-belgium-travel- podcast/) on AmateurTraveler.com. The awards are named for Lowell Thomas, acclaimed broadcast journalist, prolific author and world explorer during five decades in journalism. This is the 30th annual competition sponsored by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation. Winners of the awards, the most prestigious in the field of travel journalism, were announced Sept. 16 at the SATW convention, held in Iceland. The competition drew 1,177 entries and was judged by members of the faculty at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Journalism and Mass Communication. This year, the SATW Foundation presented 90 awards in 25 categories and nearly $20,000 in prize money to journalists. Since the first competition for work in 1984, the SATW Foundation has presented more than 2,100 awards and $420,000-plus in recognition of outstanding travel journalism. In honoring work, the judges said: "The Amateur Traveler podcast by Chris Christensen was well done. The first episode only featured narration by Christensen, which is challenging to produce. His incorporation of natural sound was a great addition to keep the show interesting and engaging. It offered both great historical context as well as important tips for travel to Flanders. The show was well produced and interesting". Among other winners, Jill Schensul, senior writer for The Record of northern New Jersey, earned the title of Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year for a portfolio of her work in the past year. It is the third top title for Schensul, who over the years has won 29 Lowell Thomas awards for herself, and The Record travel section has taken 39 in total. National Geographic Traveler, Islands, Travel + Leisure and AFAR magazines are top media winners in 2014. The Foundation distributes nearly $20,000 annually in prize money to individual winners. Donations by this year’s Underwriter, the Tourist Office for Flanders-Brussels, and many other supporters helped make the prizes possible. For more information about the awards, including a full list of winners and judges’ comments, and SATW, visit www.satwf.com andwww.satw.org. Money Plan SOS Wins Plutus Award Steve Stewart was nominated in the Best personal finance blog, and best debt reduction blog categories. Joe Saul-Sehy won for best financial blog (Joe was on the show this year talking co-hosts), and Steve won for the best debt reduction blog. The interesting thing is Steve's blog is just his "show notes" for his podcast. Congrats to both! Portable Recording With Zoom iQ5B I was Podcast Movement when I met Shawn Smith who had a bunch of microphones set up and was interviewing him. I went over and introduced myself. Shawn has gone out to help people answer the question, "What is the best way to record on the road." His is actively positioning himself as THE mobile recording person at http://www.themobilepro.net/ This was recorded on my iPhone using Boss Jock Studio and using Shawn's Zoom iQ5B microphone. It is a condenser microphone so it does pick up background noise. It has adjustable settings so you can pick how wide the stereo separation is. You will here Shawn and I go through some of the settings on the microphone. It sounds good (and would work in a quiet place like any quiet place). The FREE Ebook From Shwn: 28 pages of high-rez photos and links to all the road-tested apps and gear in each of the 5 Mobile Pro Podcast Set-Ups, pros & cons of each, best-use guide, and Mobile Pro tips plus 3 bonus set-ups. TheMobilePro.net Question from Listeners In a previous episode we spoke about Dragon Naturally Speaking and Ryan Parker I just wanted to let you know that the Mac does have a dictation function and you can find that function in the system preferences file. It works pretty much just like Siri does. And yes you have to enunciate your punctuation.(It works really great!) In fact I am voice typing this comment to you directly with no corrections. It actually works really fast. The only thing is you have to get used to using the program just like anything else. Okay I lied I did correct a few things. And you have to correct manually if you speak an incorrect word or it picks up punctuation incorrectly. Here’s a great tutorial from YouTube for you and your audience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU7oiTTAxNkIt does not allow you to correct by voice which is one of the advantages of dragon speaking naturally. They have a Mac version called Dragon dictate that seems to work pretty well I have use that in the past. Have a great day keep podcasting because we I’ll love you so much ha ha! - - Q: What kind of advice would you give to someone who's podcast was driven by fiction content (a bit like Scott Sigler but with no where near such an outgoing personality) and not interviews, or helping people, or a professional focus? It seems that a lot of advice about podcasting is more geared toward all of those things that I mentioned above that I don't really do. My latest episode has the most conversation I've done with the audience....ever and its only like seven minutes. Thank you for your time I love your show. Caine Dorr A: Caine Who likes Fiction books?. I did a quick search for "fiction book lovers" and came up with a few sites. http://themindofafictionbooklover.tumblr.com/me is in the top 5 of Google for this search. Go read his blog, and leave comments. When somethng strikes you send him an email and start a conversation. Later ask him if he'd like to listen to your book. Be sure to have your signature with a link to your website so when you send him an email he will see your website. http://www.thrall.org/booklovers/ Has all sorts of things about book clubs http://www.booktalk.org/online-reading-group.html This is a huge forum (be careful not to spam here and read the rules of posting) Figure out who your audience is, go there and make friends. then tell them about or mention your book. This goes against their policies. I also found out from talking to the Amazon Associates support that you can't put affiliate links in newsletters. Please note the tip on making a subdomain that starts with the word "amazon.yourpodcast.com" is also against their policy. (I found this out after this was recorded). Nashville is a town just bubbling over with music, musicians, and musical instrument companies. In Episode 18, I talked about Rock Block guitars and other guitar related endeavors. Well, what I didn't know is that Pearl Drums were also located in Nashville and that a friend of mine who lives in the area happened to just purchase a custom Pearl Drum set based on Pearl's Reference series. As you can imagine, I jumped at a chance to see it, play it and talk about it, so in Episode 19 I sat down with Chris of the band Saturn Rising to discuss his new kit. The kit itself is just stunning to look at. The shells are a beautifully customized Blue fading to natural wood grain color and each shell is quite heavy (for Hi-Res pictures click Here). When my friend Chris handed me the snare drum, I was quite surprised at the weight. I don't think that I had even picked up a marching snare that was as heavy as this drum. Then he turned it over to reveal the twenty ply (yes, twenty!) shell. It looked as if some on had taken a tree that was a decent diameter and hollowed out the center. Being the guitar enthusiast that I am, I appreciate the tonal differences that fine wood choices and workman ship can make, and I was pleased to hear (with my own two ears) that wood and craftsmanship make a huge difference, a even on an instrument that built to be hit. I really enjoy the tone of a well tuned drum kit, and this kit is very musical. As I listened to Chris demoing the kit, I was reminded of the huge drum sounds of some of my favorite drummers like John Bonham and Keith Moon thundering around their kits and using dynamics to make subtle statements in the songs they drove. This episode was once again produced with Bossjock Studio and the iRig mic. I know I have been talking about it a lot, but I really like the freedom that both products have allotted me. To record the episode, Chris and I sat on a couch in his drum room with the mic positioned between us. We did a couple checks to select the right volume setting on the iRig mic and then we just hit record and started going. Monitoring the levels during recording I am sure I had some clipping (which I will discover when I listen back to the show) and in hindsight, I should have probably back the mic off of us by another six inches or so, but hey....it was spontaneous and creative, and that is the joy of podcasting in general. I also captured the sound bites of the kit in this similar fashion. For a better representation on how this kit sounds, see the YouTube video below. As I keep using these new tools, I plan to refine my techniques. For theses early episodes however, I wanted to keep the "Pirate Radio" spirit very much in the forefront and just focus on doing a show live. I almost did not bring my iRig mic with me to Nashville. When I fly anywhere, I really try to keep my carryon light and only carry things that I would need immediately if I got stuck in the airport. After this trip I can confidently say that the iRig mic was a good choice to bring with me and could possibly be considered in the "need" category. Again, I know I have talked a lot about about Bossjock and the iRig mic since Episode 14 and I can promise you that I am not receiving any kind of compensation for talking about them. I truly like these products. Anytime I get new a tool that speeds up or improves how I work, I get excited and quite vocal about said product. That said, I am going to do my best to keep quiet about it ( at least for a few episodes), but maybe in the future I will do a segment on every show about how that particular show was put together.
Back in Episode 14 of the Podcast I talked about an App for iOS called "Bossjock Studio". I really like the app a lot as I discussed so I tracked Down one of the co-creators, Dave Mansueto. He was kind enough to grant me an interview, so that is the topic of this show. Dave and I are both technology enthusiasts and cover everything from the old cassette 4-Tracks to the beginning of Podcasting, to where the iOS can take us. Looking back, I asked mostly questions about using the app and I forgot ask questions about developing the app....so that gives us plenty to talk about the next time Dave joins us on the show. Heck we open the show by talking about using Skype on an iPad over the cellular network with an Apogee Mic..... C'mon.... this is gonna be a fun one!
In Episode 14 I try something completely new to me, podcasting without a computer. A year ago I would never thought this possible, but everyday someone somewhere seems to come up with a way to push the envelope of what an iPad (or any iOS device for that matter) can do. So let's back up to April 2011. In Early 2011 The iPad 2 had been announced, and with it Garage band for iOS. At the time of that announcement I was saving to get a Macbook to replace my 2005 iBook (which was still running quite well and still is today!). Once I heard Garage band was coming to the iPad, I did a serious needs analysis and did something that at the time was considered quite radical....I replaced my Laptop with an iPad. I realized that what I really needed from a laptop device was something I could write from (blogging, articles, emails, etc...) and something I could basic web surfing and research with, plus something to work as a notepad for musical ideas since my iMac was my main recording machine. A little research showed my that there were plenty of good blogging apps and Apple had released the iWork suite for iOS, so I was ready. When i first got the iPad, I admit I could not do everything on it that I could have done on my laptop, but I did anticipate that going in from the needs analysis I had done. While I know that we have a marketplace that thrives on planned obsolescence, when I invest a lot of money in something I like to be sure it will serve my needs for many years. So I had worked into my plan a transition period of about a year to completely move from laptop to iPad. The really good news is that I was able to make that transition to completely retiring the laptop in about 8-9 months. The once thing I discovered about the iPad when I got it is that it was very much like the Wild West. Everyone was moving there to stake out a cliam and try to make some money. This completion meant app prices going up and down, but most importantly, it meant that App developers were trying to "out feature" one another. For Example, when I bought my iPad I had purchased an app called Blogsy to do all my blogging from. It is still the best blogging app out there in my opinion. When I bought the app, it was limited but worked better than other apps. I found my self starting a post with Blogsy and then finishing it at my iMac. In about 6-8 months, that stopped. Blogsy was furiously making updates (and they still are) to make their App the best. That drive has allowed me to write entire posts with embedded media from anywhere I have an iPad and a data connection. Now that I have had an iPad for two years, the only things I do on the iMac are the "Heavy Lifting" things like mixing and recording songs in logic and of course my podcast. A couple months agao a coworker who learned about my enjoyment of podcasting told me about an app called Bossjock Studio. Apparently one of the co-founders of Libsyn (One of the best Podcast hosting companies out there) developed an app that was designed to let you do a "Live" podcast. I bought the app, but had no time to really try it out until now. I did open it from time to time and look around and read their blog to get tips for when I did use it. One of those tips was that their app worked really well with the iRig mic. As luck would have it, I was on Hello Music one day and saw a great deal on the iRig Mic (which as of right now is still going on, but do not expect it to last long). I had seen the iRig Mic in magazines, and really did not see the value of it, but for the price I took a chance. I was impressed. What I was expecting was a cheap, plastic, low quality microphone with a fancy logo. What I got was a really nice, well built metal chassy microphone that I would put on par with the look and feel of a Sure SM58. I downloaded the free Vocal Live App by IK Multimedia and gave it a test. Again, very surprised and quite happy. The mic sounded very clear and had three level settings on it depending on t...
