Dr. Tim Chaffey: Do Gentile Believers in Christ Become Jews?

Stand Up For The Truth Podcast

Today Mary welcomes Dr. Tim Chaffey to discuss the controversial Hebrew Roots Movement. Far from simply trying to understand the Jewish roots of the Bible, this movement seeks to answer the question about what happens when Gentiles and Jews get saved: do Gentiles become Jews?  For centuries, the people of God were Jews, with the exception of some Gentiles who came to faith in the God of Israel. The early church consisted mostly of Jewish believers in Jesus, but when the gospel went to the Gentiles, there was a new dynamic that, unfortunately, even led some to believe that Christians were the new Israel and now received all the promises of God solely. This teaching continues today across the church spectrum. Why is there so much confusion about who is who, when the epistles clearly address these things head on? But with the HRM, there is even more confusion regarding the Mosaic Law, the feasts of Israel, who is a Jew, and what is Israel. Here to help us sort it all out is Dr. Chaffey, whose comprehensive article on the subject can be found here.   Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

I've also noted the uptick in pop science articles on sudden population-wide upticks in stroke risk, among other things. I'm particularly concerned about this issue because I'm 30 and Male, both of which seem to greatly increase one's risk of vax-induced cardiovascular issues; and I got scared into getting the Pfizer vaccine in 2021. Following this, more than a couple of men I know died suddenly and prematurely of cardiovascular issues, but I didn't seem to have any such problems. I've been following your recommendations for 12 years (made me a bit unusual as a freshman in college), and I'm at my peak health and performance. Objectively speaking, my bloodwork ~6 months and 1.5 years post vaccine was excellent (lipids, hA1c, free testosterone, etc.). I wouldn't be too worried about this but I sat down to do some bench press last week and got a sudden, intense migraine that felt vascular in nature. It got me thinking about all of these “exercise induced stroke” related headlines. So the question is, would you be worried if you were me? Would you adopt any new practices, or tweak any part of the ancestral lifestyle? I imagine some people have taken to popping baby aspirin in their 30s for this, but short of that, I don't know what else I could do.   More Protein with Age?  Rob writes:  Nicki and Robb, First of all, thank you for all that you've done through your books, podcasts, and talks over the past several years. I know I don't only speak for myself when I say that you've truly changed my life for the better, not only when it comes to nutrition and training, but also in terms of navigating this (increasingly) nonsensical world we're living in. I'm a moderately active, lean (probably around 150 lbs.), 6'0", 38-year-old man. My physical activity generally comprises several walks every day, totaling around 8-12K steps per day, and I lift three times per week (full-body Starting Strength-esque barbell program called Greyskull LP). My sleep isn't the BEST, averaging 7 hrs. in bed (asleep for all but maybe 10-15 minutes of that time), but I wake up feeling good in the morning. Stress management is on point, although the 10-15 mg of nicotine I get per day (via tobacco-free pouches) may work against that some days, depending on the rest of my stress load. I generally eat moderate-to-high carb (200-300 grams per day). and my total caloric intake is generally around 2500-3000 kcal/day. My protein intake is currently around 250 grams per day. TBH, I just love protein. I find protein shakes to be convenient for breakfast, and I love eating meat, fish, etc. with other meals (generally around two pounds per day on top of the two-large-scoop protein shake). I also tend to feel better when I eat a ton of protein. My fat intake is, as you can tell, pretty low. All this seems to be working for me pretty well for me in terms of progress in the gym, sleep, energy, and all else. However, I'm a bit curious about my protein intake. At 250 grams per day, I'm well above what's recommended. I'm not concerned about this being detrimental or damaging in any way. However, I'm a bit concerned that as I age and my protein requirements go up, I'll need to eat even MORE than this to compensate. Will I need to eat even more protein as I get older, or is my current intake so high that my rising requirements will still be met? If this is potentially going to be an issue, what steps might I take to figure out what my protein intake might look like now? Thank you so much!!!! Rob   Are veggies as bad as they say?  Tim writes: Hey Rob, I've been following you on and off for almost a decade now. I started Paleo due to you and have fallen off the wagon now and again. My wife is Ethiopian and not on my health bandwagon at all. We have issues occasionally due to me eating a different meal all the time because I'm more carnivore, and her more traditional Ethiopian dishes have many veggie dishes and injera, their flatbread made with Teff which is a staple. I was leaning carnivore and listening to Chaffey and others saying veggies are absolutely 100% awful. I would like to share a meal with the wife occasionally to make her happy and wonder if things like cabbage, kale, lentils, etc.. are as bad for me as all the others say. I trust your opinion more than most and thought I would shoot you this question. Thanks   Sponsor: The Healthy Rebellion Radio is sponsored by our electrolyte company, LMNT. Content Warning: discussion of execution gets a bit gruesome.  Jennifer Lodine-Chaffey, A Weak Woman in a Strong Battle: Women and Public Execution in Early Modern England (University of Alabama Press, 2022) provides a new perspective on the representations of women on the scaffold, focusing on how female victims and those writing about them constructed meaning from the ritual. A significant part of the execution spectacle-one used to assess the victim's proper acceptance of death and godly repentance-was the final speech offered at the foot of the gallows or before the pyre. To ensure that their words on the scaffold held value for audiences, women adopted conventionally gendered language and positioned themselves as subservient and modest. Just as important as their words, though, were the depictions of women's bodies. Drawing on a wide range of genres, from accounts of martyrdom to dramatic works, this study explores not only the words of women executed in Tudor and Stuart England, but also the ways that writers represented female bodies as markers of penitence or deviance. The reception of women's speeches, Jennifer Lodine-Chaffey argues, depended on their performances of accepted female behaviors and words as well as physical signs of interior regeneration. Indeed, when women presented themselves or were represented as behaving in stereotypically feminine and virtuous ways, they were able to offer limited critiques of their fraught positions in society.  The first part of this study investigates the early modern execution, including the behavioral expectations for condemned individuals, the medieval tradition that shaped the ritual, and the gender specific ways English authorities legislated and carried out women's executions. Depictions of the female body are the focus of the second part of the book. The executed woman's body, Lodine-Chaffey contends, functioned as a text, scrutinized by witnesses and readers for markers of innocence or guilt. These signs, though, were related not just to early modern ideas about female modesty and weakness, but also to the developing martyrdom tradition, which linked bodies and behavior to inner spiritual states. While many representations of women focused on physical traits and behaviors coded as godly, other accounts highlighted the grotesque and bestial attributes of women deemed unrepentant or evil. Part Three considers the rhetorical strategies used by women and their authors, highlighting the ways that women positioned themselves as stereotypically weak in order to defuse criticism of their speeches and navigate their positions in society, even when awaiting death on the scaffold. The greater focus on the words and bodies of women facing execution during this period, Lodine-Chaffey argues, became a catalyst for a more thorough interest in and understanding of women's roles not just as criminals but as subjects. Angelika Chaffey discusses You My Sister, new charity set up to support survivors of the sex trade - whose work is heavily informed by exited women. You My Sister's first project was to create a unique mental health recovery programme specifically tailored for women who have exited any branch of the porn/sex trade. This has been created and will be delivered with survivors and is a hugely powerful form of peer-led guided recovery. It is run online so, in theory, women from anywhere in the world could take part! The course takes women through their journey, from understanding why they entered the sex industry, how the industry works to keep women trapped within it through to exiting and moving on. The emphasis is on understanding in a supportive setting with others with similar experiences and on ending self blame, self hatred and shame and instead for women to learn to like themselves, forge positive relationships, rediscover what they enjoy. In his nearly two decades with the Panthers he has racked up 436 wins, 17 playoff appearances, and has been responsible for transferring out over 100 student-athletes to schools in the US and Canada, as well as numerous professional basketball leagues worldwide. Klein is a native of Long Island, New York where he was a three sport athlete (football, basketball, track & field) at Lawrence High School. "Coach Fred Seger (University of Nebraska Hall of Fame - two sports) taught me discipline, instilled toughness and demanded excellence. There were no excuses and no shortcuts." Another influential coach in Klein's professional career was Vance Walberg (Clovis West HS, Fresno City College, Pepperdine, Philadelphia 76ers, and Sacramento Kings). Vance taught Klein the original components of "The System" (AASAA aka The Dribble Drive Motion Offense). Klein's high school coaches were the people he most looked up to and their career path is what he modeled his own on. After high school, Coach Klein attended Frostburg State University (MD) where he played one year of football for the Bobcats before transferring to SUNY Cortland. At Cortland, Klein intended to play basketball and football, but injuries took Klein to the teaching/coaching route. "At SUNY, I had the opportunity to work with the lacrosse team and found myself as the recruiting coordinator. That was my first taste of coaching." Klein's student-teaching experience at SUNY Cortland took him to the Onondaga Nation Reservation teaching K-12 and coached lacrosse. Coaching to Klein is more than Xs and Os, he prides himself on the relationships he's been able to build with his student-athletes. "I'm very involved in our players' lives. I get to know each member of the team; who they are, their history," he added. "Many of our players were not taught life skills. I was lucky, I had a dad and coaches that taught me the value of accountability, communication skills, and time management." Klein went on to recount the lessons he learned from his father, "He expected me to get up early, put in a hard day's work, dress appropriately, and be respectful. He taught me things I took for granted that I try to give these young men, even something as simple as a firm handshake or tying a tie." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/systembasketball/support
