Discover the unexpected ways small churches are making a huge impact in the world of church planting, as Reverend Dr. Chris Holder joins us to share his wisdom on fostering gospel-centered growth. Through our enlightening conversation, it becomes clear that the size of a congregation doesn't dictate its ability to contribute to new ministries. We delve into the power of collaboration, from networks to mergers, and shine a light on creative strategies that move beyond the traditional, such as planting churches in art galleries and other non-traditional venues. This episode is a call to action for churches to shed the scarcity mindset and embrace innovation in spreading the gospel. As we navigate the nuances of leadership and formation within smaller congregations, Dr. Holder provides invaluable insights into the balance required between academic theology and hands-on ministry. We address the fears and skepticism prevalent in American Christianity, particularly within the LCMS, about the potential dilution of the Gospel with church growth. Emphasizing the central message of Christ's redemption, Dr. Holder encourages a robust approach to ministry that trusts in the Holy Spirit's ability to work through our imperfections. Tune in as we explore how a united vision among church leaders can lead to a revitalized church community that's ready to grow and deploy leaders for the kingdom. All Business. What does the future hold for Christian congregations and pastoral formation? A stimulating conversation with Reverend Dr. Chris Holder, a catalytic church planner and lead pastor at Bethel Lutheran, paints a vivid picture of this future. We explore Unite Leadership Collective's vision of equipping the priesthood of all believers and discuss unconventional routes for formation, the merits of the cohort model, and how individual ministry context shapes this process.Chris shares his journey to ministry, the daunting task of church planting in urban areas, and the ever-evolving challenge of identifying target audiences in rapidly changing neighborhoods. Chris also provides his vision for Christian congregations by 2050, revealing a future of smaller, multicultural churches with less political power, and discusses his experiences with Bethel Church in Dallas and the importance of theological hospitality. Finally, we delve into the future of church collaboration and ministry, examining the ripple effects of the mega church movement and the rise of the bivocational ministry model. We also discuss the financial pressures on congregations and how Chris is working with the Luther House to nurture local bivocational leaders. We conclude with an important conversation about soul care for pastors and church leaders, highlighting the power of silence and solitude, the need for a more open dialogue about emotions, and the role confession and absolution play in spiritual formation. Naturopathic doctor Chris Holder invites his patients to explore everything that led up to their cancer diagnosis - medical, spiritual, emotional - in order to empower patients to make changes in their lives that might prevent cancer recurrence. Chris talks with Claire about the power of educating patients so they can make their own health decisions without fear. His healing practice centers around trust - whether a patient is working to stay on this planet, or making peace with death. The process of building trust requires a lot of listening - taking the time to understand a person's belief system and any trauma that might be getting in the way of healing. You work hard enough to acquire customers. What about keeping them? The value of a new customer is not in a one-time order. It's in the long-term effect of the relationship you create with them. It's in the possibility of them falling in love with your products, referring other people and potentially becoming a partner. Chris Holder realized this early in his network marketing career. Even today he has customers he met 10 years ago. Why? Because he stayed in touch. Because they love the products. Because they're not just a number. “Don't unclose your customers. Make it easy for them and see their long-term value.” More juicy resources:https://mylifestyleacademy.com/blog/ https://mylifestyleacademy.com/download/ https://mylifestyleacademy.com/masterclass/

By accident, Chris Holder blended QiGong and Chinese medicine and realized that it has a great amount of efficacy for very ill people. Chris started exploring the possibility of using the same protocol for athletes at Cal Poly Pomona University, San Luis Obispo who might just need a “tune up”, and they saw great results. They started to see athletes getting stronger and faster. Bring inflammation down. Clearing their mind. Sleeping better. Having a peace of mind, and being prepared to perform. Qigong is still fairly taboo, so other universities are not picking up on it yet, and seeking Chris to expand his program into other universities. What is Qigong? Traditional Chinese medicine revolves around 4 main pillars: Qigong Acupuncture Herbs Massage Qigong is the mother of acupuncture. Everything that goes on in acupuncture (meridians, vibrating energy, movement, chi movement, breath, etc.), happens in Qigong but without the needles. It helps you move through the energy through a series of physical exercises and breathing control. You learn to control your energy. It does a woo-woo feel to it, and most of the information you find on it online has cosmic type costumes and backgrounds. Chris’ goal is to normalize it as much as possible, it doesn’t have to have that “weird” look and make it look as comfortable as possible. When you take your first breath as a newborn, and you take in the energy of the room with that. So your line beings to move around. When it moves too far to the side, that’s when you see illnesses. Qigong helps realign that line down the middle of the body, and this is where people will feel their best. Who are you treating with Qigong? Chris does no advertising or marketing. He became a Taoist priest and sent it out to the divine that he is here to help those that need and want to be helped. He sees a lot of people who are getting their funeral arrangements together. People who are dying of cancer and other types of diseases. For a period of time, all he would see is women who had been abused. It’s the Universe responding. He sees people who usually cannot get a solution through Western processes. Chris shares amazing stories of how Qigong has changed and saved many lives. A very interesting episode! https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/holder What separates us from the rest is something that happens every morning around 11:00am. I walk over to the stereo, change the music to either Enya or Lama Gyurme, and the room stops. Those athletes who have been involved with this process all gather around, we walk over to a central space in the room, and we begin a practice that has been performed for thousands of years. Chris Holder is the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Cal Poly in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California. Along with working with 22 Division I athletic teams and over 500 student-athletes, Chris is a Doctor of Medical Qigong (DMQ-China). Under the tutelage of world famous Qigong Grand Master Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson, Dr. Holder conducted groundbreaking research on the effects of Medical Qigong Therapy with athletes in competition, the first of its kind. With the blending of western strength training practices and eastern medical and spiritual practices, Chris co-authored a study investigating the effects of a daily Qigong practice on strength gains in collegiate aged athletes. These two pieces have spawned additional studies that are currently in progress. The first is investigating the effects of Qigong on flow induction. The second could be one of the most important studies in concussion research. Both are showing tremendous benefits to each area of study. Chris is one of only 13 Master RKC’s in the world and is known in many strength training circles as one of the first to introduce kettlebell training to collegiate athletics. Chris has worked with athletes at all levels, including professionals in the NFL, NBA and MLB. Every good thing in your life is about relationships, and that includes fitness. Nobody can illustrate this point better than Dr. Chris Holder, head strength and conditioning coach at Cal Poly, and a long-time contributor to Breaking Muscle. He and Justin Lind dive into his athletic and coaching careers, uncovering the family tree of coaches who shaped who he is today. Under their tutelage, Dr. Holder learned to actively adapt his coaching philosophy to meet the unique needs of his athletes, as illustrated by his new partnership with David Weck. A consistent theme you’ll hear in this interview is Dr. Holder’s willingness to be the first to try new things. This manifested in the evolution of his coaching methods toward the primacy of kettlebell training, which he feels has given his teams the edge over their competitors for more than 15 years. His curiosity also led to his introduction to and education in Qigong, and he discusses the impact it has had on himself and his athletes at Cal Poly.

This episode sees me speaking with Darren Roberts, who for those that don't know (but SHOULD), he is the high performance manager at Harris & Ross physiotherapy after 8 years as high performance manager at Red Bull. Darren gives a very unique insight into working with a very unique population in extreme sport athletes. The current state of S&C in the UK, creating the 'performance playground' and integrating that philosophy into more traditional sports are all topics of conversation in this episode. We also discuss my very brief encounter working with Chris Holder (2013 world speedway champion) after being 'thrown under the bus' by Darren after visiting his gym back in July. Don't forget to subscribe on iTunes and any feedback, good or bad would be massively appreciated!
