Medicus Pharma CEO Dr. Raza Bokhari joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share updates on the ongoing SKNJCT-003 clinical study, which is being conducted at nine sites across the United States and aims to randomize 60 patients. An interim analysis conducted after enrolling more than half of the targeted participants has shown encouraging results. The study reports a clinical clearance rate exceeding 60%, with the investigational therapy demonstrating strong tolerability across both tested dosage levels. Notably, no dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs) or serious adverse events (SAEs) have been observed, and there have been no systemic effects or clinically significant abnormalities in laboratory results, ECGs, vital signs, or physical exams. These promising findings will be submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as part of a Type C meeting request in Q2 2025. In parallel, the company is advancing its clinical initiatives for non-invasive basal cell carcinoma treatment with a newly proposed study. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center trial has been submitted for approval to the UAE Department of Health. The study aims to enroll up to 36 patients at prominent medical institutions, including Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Shakbout Medical City, Burjeel Medical City, and the American Hospital of Dubai. Participants will be assigned in a 1:1:1 ratio to receive either a placebo or one of two dosage levels of the experimental treatment. This expansion into the UAE represents a significant step forward in the company's mission to develop innovative, non-invasive therapies for skin cancer, broadening its global clinical footprint and reinforcing its commitment to advancing patient care. #proactiveinvestors #nasdaq #mdcx #tsxv #mdcx #pharma #Biotech #CancerTreatment #ClinicalTrials #FDAApproval #SkinCancer #HealthcareInnovation #Investing #MedicalResearch

Blockchain technology continues to drive innovation despite declining hype, with Distributed Ledgers (DLTs) offering secure, decentralized digital asset transactions. In an On the Road episode of The New Stack Makers recorded at Open Source Summit North America, Andrew Aitken of Hedera and Dr. Leemon Baird of Swirlds Labs discussed DLTs with Alex Williams. Baird highlighted the Hashgraph Consensus Algorithm, an efficient, secure distributed consensus mechanism he created, leveraging a hashgraph data structure and gossip protocol for rapid, robust transaction sharing among network nodes. This algorithm, which has been open source under the Apache 2.0 license for nine months, aims to maintain decentralization by involving 32 global organizations in its governance. Aitken emphasized building an ecosystem of DLT contributors, adhering to open source best practices, and developing cross-chain applications and more wallets to enhance exchange capabilities. This collaborative approach seeks to ensure transparency in both governance and software development. Listen in with our amazing partner, Andy Moules of Red Rose Technologies from the UK discuss Omni-Channel and CX in 2023. Andy dives into a very unique and valuable approach of how he journey maps with his customers. He drops countless valuable tips that help his customers down their CX journey you won't want to miss! Everybody, welcome in. Good morning. Today, we are wrapping up a CX track titled, "Unleashing CX Excellence and Journeying into the Omni-Channel World." Today, with us, we've got Mr. AndyMoules coming to us from the UK of Red Rose Technologies. Andy, welcome on, my man. Thank you very much. Pleasure to chat to you. Andy, so as we kick this off, I think everybody loves to hear about our guests' backgrounds. So walk us through a little bit about how did you get into this space? How did you set out to do what you're doing and building out Red Rose? Yes, I find it fascinating going and looking at what I've done before and where I started. And when we first started chatting about doing this podcast, I started looking back at when I first left college and I was fixing storage drives at the time. So my first foray into IT and technology is I was fixing little DAT drives and DLTs, as they're called at the time. So cartridges. And so that was my first first role. I've very much engineering and technical. And I think after about a year of that and seeing some of the sales guys flash their cars, I thought there's got to be a different side to explore within IT and technology. And so what started out as a very technical based role was taking me sort of from 360 and back now to kind of what I'm doing, loving doing the best, which is kind of supporting customers. So talk to me then about how did Red Rose come about? How did you transition others? All right. I'm an engineer. This is good, but I'm seeing other things happening over here. What did Red Rose come about? Yeah, so I spent most of my career within the channel, if I'm honest. I work for the UK here, distributors, I work for some vendors. And one of the probably most successful periods I had was when I was working with I was kind of working for Samsung at the time. My role then was kind of like a pre-sales channel account manager. And quite regularly, I would get resellers who would contact me and say, Andy, we've got this opportunity. Can you come out? Can you bring your Samsung demo kit? Come and see the customer. And I would go on a full PBX on the desk, plug in phones and just be in my element there. I've kind of almost run into the project sort of from start to finish, you know, coming up with that idea of listening to the clients and sort of just walking through. And when I made the decision, probably I think it's about three years ago, I wish track of time now has been so busy that I went outside and once I had Red Rose, it was I want to bring that back again. That was my period that I absolutely embraced and enjoyed the most. How can I get that back and do this in my own little way and in my personal touch? What is the I mean, just for you kind of starting this thing out from scratch, what's that journey been like? I mean, is it what you expected it to be? Is it harder? Is it easier? Is it somewhere in the middle? Help everybody understand that. It's been a very strange journey for me because I started right in the middle of Covid and I sort of think back to myself. If I was to start a business in normal time and in normal environments, starting a business without a black book of contacts or any old customers I can go and speak to, I could quite imagine I would be up and down the motorway driving to see everyone and anyone I could who could just talk to me about TIF and the contact centre, etc, etc. But so from that point of view, Covid being kind of in lockdown kind of kept my costs quite low to be, to be brutally honest with you, because everything was, you know,

From headlines on ChatGPT and the like to machine learning powered application offerings, Web 3.0 seems to be all the rage these days. What seemed like technological advances reserved to niche industries or R&D or crypto nerds—such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, blockchain, and related decentralized ledger technologies—is now expanding dramatically into many aspects of the daily life of companies and individuals alike. One of the key claims of the proponents of web 3.0 is its decentralized nature and the impact this has on each person's rights, on their assets and data. Arguably, the web 3.0 era would be the end of centralized data repositories and facilitate a more open, transparent, user-friendly approach to data management. Is this claim true and what does the web 3.0 really mean when it comes to one's ability to manage its data? Focusing on personal data, are there any challenges raised in exercising and enforcing individuals' rights when the data is being collected in the context of services such as virtual reality games, the metaverse, distributed ledger technologies (DLTs), or chatbots? From the perspective of the businesses operating in the web 3.0 ecosystem, what are the ways to ensure compliance and limit risks? Our guest is Greg Tulquois, Partner with the international law firm DLA Piper, where he leads the global Commercial and Contracts practice. The Spatial Web is Coming, Part 3 #futureofai #artificialintelligence by Denise Holt Okay, so we build the Smart Technologies, but how do they translate into the Spatial Web? Enter The Spatial Web Foundation and VERSES Technologies, a next-gen AI company that is literally laying the foundation for the Spatial Web Protocol by establishing and defining an entirely new computing technology stack comprised of three tiers: Interface, Logic & Data. The Interface Tier blends spatial computing experiences, merging AR & VR experiences with our physical world. VERSES has created the Hyperspace Transaction Protocol (HSTP), using Hyperspace Modeling Language (HSML), as the foundation for a common networked terminal, to bring all the interface tier components together in order to facilitate an indexed and searchable Spatial Web Browser of every person, place or thing, both real and digital. As Dan Mapes of VERSES points out, “HTML lets you program a web page – HSML lets you program a web space.” The Logic Tier enables the parsing of this huge amount of new spatial & UX data through cognitive computing methods, powered by VERSES' flagship contextual computing AI Operating System called, KOSM™. VERSES is Blockchain agnostic which means you can use multiple chains and even operate a hybrid data layer using both DLT technologies and the cloud. VERSES KOSM™ includes their new Biomimicry-inspired Artificial Intelligence based on the “Free Energy Principle”, which will be part of every VERSES spatial application and will live on the network, updating itself while learning in real-time. On September 21, 2022, VERSES introduced the creation of its new Artificial Intelligence Lab and Sensor Fusion Research Facility, showcasing their technology portfolio, including KOSM™, and providing an immersive space for data science and product development teams to cultivate advanced adaptive intelligence solutions required for translating diverse data into contextual awareness between humans, machines and AI in physical and digital spaces. This brings us to the Data Tier. In a world where it will become more and more challenging to decipher between real and digital experiences (think, deep fakes), trust and verification will become paramount to our security. Distributed Ledger Technologies like Blockchain offer a “trust-less” cryptographically secure architecture. In DLTs, there is no need for any third-party entity, such as a corporation or government, or even attorney or accountant, to act as a trusted central authority figure. DLTs provide us with a real opportunity to shift data sovereignty, control, and security into the hands of individuals. Smart Contracts, at the heart of DLTs, are a programmable set of rules, stored on Blockchains, and run when certain pre-determined conditions are met. These automated, self-executing & immutable strings of code are recorded onto Distributed Ledger Blockchains, securing transactions & agreements by replacing static documents and the need for third party mediation. Through intelligent automation, Smart Contracts secure the management of property rights, spatial rights, proof of origination, verifiable traceability, and auto-execution of payments and transfer of assets, providing security, protecting privacy, and allowing risk-free interoperability — all essential to a favorable and prosperous augmented and networked Web 3.0 experience. Special thanks to Dan Mapes , President and Co-Founder, VERSES AI and Director of The Spatial Web Foundation. If you'd like to know more about The Spatial Web, I highly recommend a helpful introductory book written by Dan and his VERSES Co-Founder, Gabriel Rene, titled, “The Spatial Web,” with a dedication “to all future generations.” Listen to Part 4 to find out how to stay ahead of the curve, and why it is critical for everyone to be included in this new network. #futureofai #artificialintelligence #spatialweb #intelligentagents #aitools

In this episode I chat with Tom Grogan, CEO of Mishcon de Reya's MdRxTech, a software consultancy and incubator with a legal edge. We discuss why building legal compliance into the product development lifecycle is ever more important in a Web3.0 world and how this can be achieved within lean and agile design and delivery approaches. We will touch on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Smartcontracts and why including legal considerations early and throughout for products or services built on top of such solutions is imperative. We chat about the shift from consumption to creation to ownership that led to Web3.0, and how true realisation of the potential of the ‘Metaverse' - and maybe more drastically quantum technology once it arrives - will change our understanding of ‘property' and ‘ownership' and might ultimately redefine the world. Tom is Chief Executive Officer of MDRxTech. The Energy Token business caseAt the moment, the energy sector is heavily regulated and enjoys a certain lack of transparency. Furthermore, the new EU regulation states that prosumers (a consumer who also produces energy) as a new way of producing and consuming energy are very important. With new technologies, such as distributed ledger technologies, the opportunities are endless. In the current metering & allocation setup, every commercial grid connection has a meter and associated allocation point. Balance responsible parties (BRPs) are responsible for maintaining supply and demand on the energy market within their portfolio. Together, all BRPs represent all connections within a scheduling area (for example, the Netherlands). As the BRPs work on expected production, consumption, and external trade, differences between supply and demand may occur using reconciliation to correct the disparity. New technology, such as smart meters and DLTs, allow for real-time energy allocation based on actual energy consumption. This use case aims to develop the infrastructure that supports an energy token and embed this in the currently available infrastructure.

Jeffrey A. Zonder, MD, hematologist-oncologist at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan, discusses data from the first-in-human study testing REGN5458 as a monotherapy for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma patients (NCT03761108). Data from the phase 1 portion of this study were recently presented at The American Society of Hematology Meeting & Exposition (ASH 2021).Multiple myeloma is a rare blood cancer associated with uncontrolled growth of plasma cells. While the disease is treatable, relapses are common and some patients are refractory to first line treatment. As Dr. Zonder explains, REGN5458 is a BCMA x CD3 bispecific antibody that is currently being investigated in a phase 1/2 clinical trial. Data presented at ASH 2021 was related to the phase 1 portion of this study which is assessing the safety, tolerability, and dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs) of REGN5458 in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma as well as determining a recommended phase 2 dose regimen. As of data cut-off (June 10, 2021), 68 patients were treated with REGN5458 in the dose escalation cohort with full doses ranging from 3–400 mg. Patients had a median of 5 prior lines of systemic therapy and the median duration of follow-up was 2.4 months. Treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAE) were reported in 66 patients (97.1%), and Grade 3 or more TEAEs were reported in 52 (76.5%) patients. The most frequent TEAEs were fatigue in 29 patients (42.6%), and cytokine release syndrome (CRS) in 26 patients (38.2%). No patient had Grade 3 or more CRS or discontinued treatment due to CRS. There were no Grade 3 or more neurotoxicity events. As Dr. Zonder notes, responses were observed at all dose levels and a maximally-tolerated dose was not reached at any level. Amongst patients treated at the 96 and 200 mg dose levels, the response rate was 73.3%. Across all dose levels, 92.6% of all responders achieved at least a very good partial response and 48.1% of responders had a complete response (CR) or stringent CR. Patients without extramedullary plasmacytomas responded more frequently than those with them. The Kaplan–Meier estimated median duration of response was not reached. The probability of duration of response ≥8 months was 92.1% with responses ongoing up to 19 months at the latest data cut-off.Overall, REGN5458 continues to show an acceptable safety and tolerability profile as well as promising durable responses in triple- to penta-refractory patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. Digitization of financial assets promises tremendous benefits to the capital markets, such as executing fast, efficient, and secure transactions via distributed ledger technologies (DLTs). First financial institutions across the globe look for opportunities to integrate blockchain technology into their security offerings, such as blockchain-based bonds. The World Bank pioneered by issuing a new blockchain-based debt instrument and launched its bond-i already back in August 2018. Today, digital assets are already allowed by the regulator, e.g., in Germany, and will thrive over the next years. The advantages of digital assets become particularly clear when not only the digital asset itself, but also the payment/settlement of the digital asset is observed. When digital assets are based on DLTs, not only buying and selling the bond via a DLT is possible, but also the payment of the bond - both on the same platform. This allows for instantaneous settlement of assets. One promising way for digital assets is to settle in central bank money, via a wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC). While the first central bank pioneered wholesale CBDCs, the Austrian Central Bank has recently conducted a research project for settling a digital asset with central bank money. In their DELPHI (Delivery vs. Payment Hybrid Initiative) project, appropriateness of blockchain technology for issuing and settling digital bonds in real time using a wholesale CBDC was explored. The Austrian Central Bank issued a wholesale CBDC that was used to pay for the digital bond. Potential deliveries of this blockchain-based project are to assess the compatibility of the current legal framework and its various amendment needs and to evaluate the applicability of this project learnings to the market needs.

The trouble is, it's a threat to the old Westphalian order: digital ledger technologies (DLTs), like bitcoin: aka “crypto.” The supplicants of the old order have a lot at stake in the status quo, so a war is coming. Michael and Max spend this episode talking about the idea of crypto as money, going back through a little bit of history, then rocketing back to the future to discuss the implications for humanity. To what extent can we disintermediate using crypto? To what extent will humanity be able to create cloud governance that challenges the old order? Nobody knows, but it's important to speculate. Asset tokenisation has become one of the most prominent use-cases of distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) in financial markets, for assets including securities, commodities and other non-financial assets. For this podcast we had Iota Nassr, Economist and Policy Analyst at the OECD, join us to discuss her recent OECD report on the tokenisation of assets and their potential implications for financial markets. Iota started working as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch and at Citigroup before joining the OECD for the last 9 years working for the committee on financial markets. The committee has set up an expert group on financial digitalisation which includes representatives of central banks, finance ministries, treasuries and other financial authorities from the 38 OECD members. The group looks into Fintech related matters in financial markets and their policy implications including the area of blockchain in finance.   What is blockchain? Blockchain is a type of distributed ledger technology, that records information in a distributed manner, in an immutable, time stamped and programmable manner that allows for the exchange of value without the need for a trusted central authority or without the need of intermediaries. This allows for efficiency gains on the back of such disintermediation.   Tokenisation of assets and potential implications for financial markets – OECD report On the 17th of January 2020, the OECD published the “Tokenisation of assets and potential implications for financial markets” report. Since 2018, the OECD committee on financial markets had been working on blockchain related issues. What kicked it off was the ICO (initial coin offering) hype, which the OECD looked at for their potential for SME financing in a report entitled “Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) for SME Financing ”. With the drop in ICO hype the committee continued to have an interest on the potential of tokens and tokenised markets post ICO, particularly on their potential proliferation in the technique of tokenisation would affect traditional financial markets. What they were really looking at is a theoretical environment where tokenized assets and market for tokenized assets take off. If that were to happen, how would it affect financial markets? And what do policymakers need to know and think ahead of that? That was the initial objective of the tokenisation of assets report they published in January 2020.   What is tokenisation of assets? The report looks at tokens from two perspective: (1) tokens representing a pre-existing real asset and (2) tokens “native” to the blockchain. The firsts case has tokenisation as the process of representing in a digital way by using the DLT an asset that already pre-exists. The tokens exist on the chain and carry the rights of the assets that they represent. They effectively act as a store of value for something that exists in the physical world. In the second case, we have native tokens which are built directly on the chain and live exclusively on the distributed ledger. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or payment tokens are examples of native tokens which derive their value in of themselves and are defined by their existence on the blockchain. The difference between the two is that in the first case the real assets on the back of which tokens are issued, continue to exist in the off-chain world. In the case of physical real assets, those would need to be placed in custody as to ensure that the tokens issued are constantly backed by those real assets. In the second case the issue of custodianship or third parties securing the existence of the tokenised asset does not exist. The role of the custodian in the first case is quite important because they are here to ensure that the real assets continues to exist off chain, that the characteristics of the asset correspond to the characteristics that are assigned to the token issued and to ensure that there is no se...

Caroline Malcolm heads the Global Blockchain Policy Centre at the OECD,  assessing its policy implications & building solutions to ensure governments across the world can access and respond to the opportunities and challenges it raises. In this podcast she discusses with us the interesting work the OECD is doing around understanding the potential blockchain can bring to the its members, how they collaborate with other international institutions and she also invites you all to participate in the upcoming OECD Global Blockchain Policy Forum 2020 .   What is blockchain? Caroline agrees that there is a wide range of views regarding defining what is blockchain. For the OECD, blockchain is just one type of distributed ledger technology (DLT) and refers itself to a combination of technologies. These technologies create a digital, shared and self-updating ledger of verified transactions or information amongst parties on a network. These blockchains and DLTs more broadly use various types of consensus mechanisms to validate and record those transactions or transfer of information. They have various governance systems with various degrees of control for the different parties on the network. Blockchain applications have been developed across lots of different sectors, and is often described as the Internet of value.   What is the OECD? The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation that works to build better policies for better lives. Their goal is to shape policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity and well-being for all. The OECD is an international organisation with at the present moment 37 members, including Colombia who recently joined. Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, the OECD works on establishing evidence-based international standards and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and creating jobs, to fostering strong education, informing the impact of emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain, to fighting international tax evasion, they provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.   The OECD Global Blockchain Policy Centre For the last 6 years the OECD has been looking at cryptocurrencies and their impacts and potential for financial markets. In 2017, the OECD launched a project called Going Digital which broadly looked at digitalization across the policy spectrum. Within 18 months of that project being underway the OECD members decided that going forward they would put their focus on artificial intelligence and on blockchain. In 2018 the OECD Global Blockchain Policy Centre was created and in 2019 the OECD AI Policy Observatory was created. The OECD Global Blockchain Policy Centre was created to support governments to address the challenges raised by DLT and their applications as well as to seize the opportunities it offers for achieving policy objectives.  The Centre focuses a significant amount of effort on education – capacity building and focusing on what that means for policy makers. Caroline and her team recognised that there was a huge lack of understanding about why this technology was not just like any other emerging technology. The decentralised aspect of the technology was what policymakers and regulators need to be paying special attention to. The Centre created their own course for policymakers to help them get a better understanding of what is the technology, what it’s useful for, what it’s not useful for and help them understand how it is changing the policy implementation environment. Caroline recognises that striking the balance between a healthy scepticism about blockchain technology and the hype associated with it to recognising with a certain humility that we have see...

In this podcast we discuss Fetch.ai and how autonomous economic agents can transact and settle transactions autonomously in an economic manner to facilitate the exchange of insights and inferences without the sharing of data sets. ***Image taken on the 27th of February prior to social distancing***   What is blockchain? For Humayun, blockchain is just a record keeping mechanism that has the unique feature that enables people to interact with it in a decentralised manner without the need for a centralised entity to control it. Its other interesting feature is that you can exchange economic value on it which makes it a key differentiator from a centralised database.   Challenges of today’s suboptimal digital world In today’s digital world we use a lot of technology. Unfortunately, it is done in different pockets of different things. The challenge is that as we try to connect them all we are faced with issues of interoperability. For example, how does an individual’s train timetable get connected to their personal assistance? How does their calendar become aware of the train timetables and its possible delays? These examples illustrate some of the very inefficient interconnectivity that people have to deal with in their lives. Attempts to connect all these services require an exchange of economic value to enable the settlement of these services. Because of these reasons, Humayun believes we are living in a suboptimal world because you can’t build a centralised system from top down which can account for all of these problems. These challenges has led to an increasing move towards software defined systems and autonomous systems. Whilst APIs are an attempt at trying to facilitate interconnectivity between disparate systems they still require software to be written to connect them up. Additional code is also required to extract the data and process it in a meaningful manner. Because of these reasons Humayun doesn’t believe we are solving the problem because organisations are still building solutions to connect different things together. The other side of the problem is how do you discover those APIs? How can an organisation rapidly identify an API and connect with it without writing any code in a near real time basis?   What is Fetch.ai and its mission? Humayun describes Fetch as a connectivity and intelligent connectivity solution. He defines connectivity as having three components: How do you find something to connect? How do you actually connect? (the technical aspect of making a connection) Once you have connected, how do you connect economically? These three components are effectively the different components of Fetch. Fetch is a layered solution that provides a substrate where the economic value exchange, the search and discovery and where the actual physical connectivity can take place. These three components are delivered via Fetch’s: Distributed ledger Open economy framework Autonomous economic agents   Fetch’s distributed ledger technology & smart contract With a multitude of existing distributed ledger technology (DLTs) which exist, Humayun explained why Fetch built their own ledger. In order to run autonomous software which is going to do search and discovery, which is also going to do a value exchange and do all of that in real time, you need a ledger system. The nodes within that system facilitate the search and discovery. The system needs to facilitate near real time economic exchange. It has to be very fast because all the economic agents on the system need to exchange small amounts of value in high frequency with a high throughput. In addition, the incentives have to be aligned to support this kind of economic exchange of value.
