The path of every artist is something truly singular and, far enough long, something amazing and often unprecedented. Emily Browning is marvelous example of this as she has found her way in and throughout stand-up, clown, writing, acting, and, yep, balloon art and is bringing all of that together in a very, very special balloon art crowd work special, shooting next month. It's no Twilight, but we still need to talk about The Host (2013). No, not the Bong Joon Ho horror — we mean the Stephenie Meyer movie adaptation. That's right, it's time for another Fifth Tuesday, a.k.a. one of our non-spooky bonus episodes, and given that this film features a bonafide intergalactic invasion, we knew it would be the perfect way to close out Alien Month. After four weeks of figuring out all the various ways humanity might put a stop to attacks from outer space, it was time to ask the really important questions: What happens when the aliens win? Also, what if they're sort of sexy? With Saoirse Ronan doing her best bad Southern accent and Diane Kruger serving cunt in a ribbed white tank top, our latest installment of Spooky Tuesday does the work to tackle all the important topics: communism, supernatural love squares, and the true test of any romance. This week we did one of Robs favorite movies 'The Uninvited' Starting Elizabeth Banks and Emily Browning. Listen along as we discuss this psychological, mind-bending movie!
WOAH! This two-hour episode is a doozy! Full of twists, turns, and a story about accidentally doing meth in a car in Oregon. We can't make this stuff up. My guest today is Comedian/Writer and Founder of Drafty's Bar, Emily Browning. Raised in a very Evangelical household, Emily spills the tea on how she's always been a little bit psychic, stories of hiding secular CDs, and the shame that kept her small as she felt pressure to be "good" over being herself. Church PTSD is very real and pushes a lot of folks away from faith and spirituality. Emily shares very vulnerable stories from her past and how she's still working on finding her true self and sharing it onstage. Oh, and it's funny. Like, really, really funny. Did I mention Emily is an absolute riot of a time? You're welcome! Tune out, and tune in. Love you, mean it. For all the latest and greatest, you can find Emily on all socials as @emilybrowntown and @draftysbar

Filmmaker Steve Beck created two notable horror movies in the early 2000’s: THIRTEEN GHOSTS, which came out in 2001, and GHOST SHIP, which followed in 2002 – both of them produced by Robert Zemeckis, Joel Silver and Gilbert Adler for their company Dark Castle Entertainment. THIRTEEN GHOSTS was a remake of William Castle’s B-movie classic by the same name from 1960, whereas GHOST SHIP was an original story. Both movies are effective ghost stories starring several recognizable actors like F. Murray Abraham, Gabriel Byrne, Tony Shalhoub, Matthew Lillard, and even a young Emily Browning. The real star of both films,… The post Talking Pictures #15: Steve Beck, Director of THIR13TEN GHOSTS and GHOST SHIP appeared first on Talking Pictures.

Vi pratar också om: The Thing from Another World, The Ring, A Tale of Two Sisters, Takashi Shimizu, Sam Raimi, Aterrados, Veronica Franz, Sarah Michelle Geller, Clea Duvall, Bill Pullman, Laura Palmer, Naomi Watts, Robert Tappert, Christopher Young, Låt den rätte komma in, Dark Water, Kim Jee-Woon, I Saw the Devil, Bröderna Grimm, bröderna Guard (nej, de lär inte ha riktigt samma status om 150 år), Emily Browning, Handen som gungar vaggan, Fight Club, High Fidelity, Trainspotting, Todd Solondz, Welcome to the Dollhouse och Philip Glass. Patreon-lyssnare avnjuter dubbel speltid där samtalet fortsätter med fokus på The Eye (nej!) och Shutter (ja!). Nostalgi, löst tyckande och akademisk analys.
This week we're taking a look at perhaps one of the most hated films in the Zack Snyder filmography: Sucker Punch. It's been dismissed as exploitative, and has been derided for its depiction of women. It also features more special effects, explosions, and those darn slow-mo shots people keep making fun of all the time online. So, what if we told you that the Extended Cut solves most, if not all of those problems, and that maybe some of those problems were but projections of an already biased audience? Let's get into it, shall we?

This week on Total Movie Recall, we acknowledge that The Wizard of Oz is, yes, a classic. However, it's missing a certain je ne sais quoi, and we try to put our fingers on exactly what it needed. We conclude that classic, whimsical children's film needed more childhood lobotomy, forced imprisonment, Queens pulling their own heads off, and Veruca Salt. Or Fairuza Balk? Potato potato. Return to Oz (1985) d. Walter Murch Based on books by L. Frank Baum Starring: Fairuza Balk as Dorothy Nicol Williamson as the Nome King Jean Marsh as Mombi Piper Laurie as Aunt Em Brian Henson as Jack Pumpkinhead Dorothy discovers she is back in the land of Oz, and finds the yellow brick road is now a pile of rubble, and the Emerald City is in ruins.
