In episode 174 - When You're Asked to Teach, I share some important insights about creating a safe, loving environment when you are asked to teach, whether that's in a church setting, on a mission, or in any other context. I emphasize the importance of moving away from a "quiz" mentality and instead fostering open conversations where everyone feels welcome to share their thoughts and experiences. I highlight the Savior's example of teaching each person according to their unique needs, and how we can emulate that by truly understanding where people are coming from before trying to teach them. The goal should be to create an atmosphere of unconditional love and acceptance, where the Spirit can freely flow. I encourage listeners to evaluate their own teaching approaches and consider whether they are cultivating this kind of safe, uplifting environment. By doing so, we can help everyone feel inspired, supported, and able to contribute meaningfully to the conversation, just as the Savior did. The key is moving away from a focus on "right" and "wrong" answers, and instead opening up the dialogue for all to participate. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. Until next week my friends. Especially with eczema in the past, I understand the frustration in trying to find organic products healthy for your skin, hair, etc. I also understand that if you do, they are quite high in price. I have found that you can find high quality and many powerful organic ingredients for a very reasonable price. I want people to be able to afford their self-care products that are so important. Did you know that so much of what you put on your skin enters your bloodstream and thereby affects other body systems making you toxic and sicker without even realizing it until years later when your body just cannot handle it anymore.

Welcome to The Backyard Naturalists, the show about anything and everything connected with nature. Dr. Carrie de Jaco is an associate professor at Pfeiffer University. She did a project with her reconciliation ecology class at Pfeiffer University, putting in pollinator gardens. There's all kinds of types of places that you can incorporate this. The important thing is just getting started. Any place you can put some flowers for pollinators, you're bound to get some. Pollinators are really good at sniffing out flowers. And it really just seems like if you plant it, they will come. If you have ideas for topics that you'd like us to pursue, send us a message either on our Facebook page or our website. We would really like to hear from you. We start this episode by talking about creating wildlife habitats. That initial episode of Creating Wildlife Habitats is still in the top three listened episodes for us. These principles have overlapped with almost every episode we've had. It's a really good guiding network for us to keep in mind. Connect with the Backyard Naturalists on the Web, Facebook and Instagram. The Backyard Naturalist is a podcast about anything and everything related to nature. This week's topic: Building healthier soils builds a healthier you. With us in the studio from Terra Flora Farm and Roastery are Lawton James and Sean Simpson. From their website, “Sean, Maggie and their friend Lawton are currently cultivating just under an acre on their farm located in Norwood, North Carolina. They are leasing nine acres from a couple who are the current stewards of a portion of land southeast of Charlotte. They believe in the mantra "Know Thy Farmer" and encourage anyone with questions about the farm or their growing practices to find them at the farm or at one of their two current markets: Matthews Community Farmers' Market every Saturday from 8-12, or Uptown Farmers Market every Saturday 8-12:30.” We should be thinking about where our food comes from. If it's picked green and it trucks 2500 miles and it's irradiated to boot, that just might not be the healthiest solution for us. Let's think about this very mindfully and see what we can do to change that. Connect with the Backyard Naturalists on the Web, Facebook and Instagram. Does nature always know best? Yuval Noah Harari and Slavoj Žižek debate. Looking for a link we mentioned? It's here: https://linktr.ee/philosophyforourtimesMost think of nature as good, while humans and human interventions are often seen as problematic and even on occasion evil. From eradicating e-numbers from our diets to refusing vaccines, many are motivated by the idea that nature knows best.Yet malaria is natural, the malaria vaccine is not. Crop failure, hurricanes, tsunamis - all are deadly, and all natural. Human actions are essential to extend and save lives from natural calamity. Is our attachment to nature undermining belief in ourselves? Should we have more faith in the human and less trust in nature? Or, are we right to be sceptical of human intervention and should we see the renewed reverence for nature as a positive return to an ancient and essential belief? Then again, should we accept that we are part of the natural world, and give up on the false distinction between real and artificial, natural and unnatural?World-famous intellectual Yuval Noah Harari and firebrand philosopher Slavoj Žižek debate whether nature is friend or foe. There has always been a declared need for recording keeping in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The revelation given to the Prophet Joseph Smith, as documented in Doctrine and Covenants section 21, affirms: “Behold, there shall be a record kept among you.” Historical records continue to bless Latter-day Saints, helping members to understand the robust history of the Church and the challenges their forefathers overcame. The modern explosion of technology has made it possible for members to share the Church's history and Christ's doctrine with the world at large. Elder LeGrand R. Curtis Jr., a General Authority Seventy serving as Church Historian and Recorder and executive director of the Church History Department, joins this episode of the Church News podcast to share what he has learned about the importance of these records and how understanding the past history can define the future.
