Happy Merry & hope your holidays are going wonderfully cozy, easy, and not at all stressful.   In this Christmas Eve solo holiday special, I'm reskinning Jack Harrison a.k.a. Mousehole Press' Bucket of Bolts from a futuristic spaceship POV experience to inhabiting the iconic sleigh of St. Nicholas himself, instead playing as the sleigh for the many Santas throughout the centuries.   It's short, simple, and fun, but definitely made me think about how I would run this game if I was playing in a sci-fi game, especially because it opens up such interesting ideas for sentient ships, AI co-pilots, and just fleshing out the story of an oft-overlooked member of any spacefaring party - the ship itself.   Other contributors to Bucket of Bolts whose tables I used included:  Riley Rethal Matt Sanders a.k.a. Alexander Pope (1688-1744) Translation: people will always be optimistic and think that something better is coming, and with the New Year comes Hope. The proof is in a 34-country Ipsos survey that interviewed over 25,000 adults, with 70 percent saying 2024 will be a better year for them and their country. That's a five percentage point upswing in optimism from last year's pole. This is considering that 2023 ended under the cloud of war, and there is looming uncertainty around emerging AI technology. Do we know how AI will impact our livelihood and how many people's jobs might be in jeopardy? What about record-breaking hot temperatures across Europe and wildfires that devastated communities across North America, especially in Canada? According to 16th-century French astrologer Nostradamus, 2024 will bring more Climate disasters. He says, “The dry earth will grow more parched, and there will be great floods when it is seen.” He also predicts a “Very great famine through pestiferous wave.” Remember, though, Nostradamus was known as “the prophet of doom.” Or, we can remember Alexander, and with the New Year comes eternal Hope.

Just Let GoEntrepreneurs spend so much time putting their vision out into the world. It’s hard to be able to turn off your brain and stop thinking things like, “Oh, what if we don’t respond to this person right away?”. But it’s so crucial for us to learn how to really just let go during breaks or holidays. Great ideas happen when you allow yourself some space and time away from work. Pursuing other things during this time, like working on your health or connecting with your family, will add more value to your life and help you reconnect with the “why” behind your vision. If you get a great idea on your vacation, my advice would be to not act on it right away. Write it down and keep it logged until your vacation is over. You’ll have so many good ideas waiting for when you get back to your business. Get to know yourself. If it takes you two or more days to be able to stop thinking about checking your business’s social feed, then plan a break that’s long enough for you to truly let go. Spend Breaks With People You ChooseRelatives, like cousins, or distant aunts and uncles, and even siblings and parents, are people that you didn’t choose. They can push your buttons or drive you nuts, and a lot of them you probably never really liked very much. Yet we spend most of our break time with them? That being said, I treasure my time with my family. The family that I have filtered and consider to be my real family. I choose to be there for them, want to connect to them, and want to see them flourish. It’s paid back tenfold. Filtering my family and choosing who I spend breaks with has strengthened my relationship with my whole family because I have a higher standard for how to show up. The world that we’re building with our business is supposed to feed this life. In today's episode, I'll teach you the different meanings and the different uses of “Auguri”, “Congratulazioni” and “Complimenti”. These words are often used in everyday conversations. They may seem very easy to use but you need to be very careful about how and when to use them. I'll report the expressions you'll hear in the description of this episode, take a look! Have a good time listening. Auguri! (Best Wishes/Happy…) This word is used: 1) during a personal recurring celebration (birthday, name-day, anniversary, ecc.) addressing the guests of honor 2) during a collective celebration (Christmas, Easter or New Year's Eve) addressing all those present, indistinctly 3) during non-personal celebration (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, ecc.) addressing those who meet the criteria of the celebrated event There's another way to do the best wishes, namely following the structure: Buon/a/e (Happy/Merry) + name of the celebration (Buon compleanno (Happy Birthday), Buon Natale (Merry Christmas), Buona festa della mamma (Happy Mother's day), ecc.) We have two possibilities to reply: - Grazie (Thank you): if the celebration is personale, since the guest of honor has to thank everyone for the received wishes - Altrettanto (the same to you): if the celebration is collective, since we have to reciprocate the received wishes Sometimes “Auguri” can also take an ironic and sarcastic nuance, especially in informal contexts. In fact, if someone tells us something they're proud of, but that's not important for us or we simply want to belittle it, “Auguri!” will have the value of : “Sì, ok, ma non mi importa” (Yeah, ok, but I don't care) Congratulazioni! (Congratulations!) This word is used during a personal non-recurring celebration (wedding, the birth of a baby, etc.) addressing only those who are directly involved. Keep well in mind that if the personal non-recurring celebration hasn't occurred yet, we'll use “auguri“ and not “congratulazioni!“. For example, if a friend of yours announces that's getting married, using the word “auguri” would be like saying: “Spero che il tuo matrimonio vada bene!”(I hope your wedding goes well) “Congratulazioni”, on the other hand, should be used, when the event has occurred, for example, if the friend just got married, so it would like saying: “Sono felice che tu ti sia sposato” (I'm happy you got married) “Congratulazioni!” is also used when we want to exhibit, in a warm way, our complacency, our satisfaction, our joy to someone who has achieved a great goal or a great result thanks to their own skills and abilities, like a promotion at work or a degree. Complimenti! (Well done/Bravo!) This word is used to express our admiration for someone, for any reason, like a complex puzzle that has been completed or a picture nicely drawn. In addition, as a noun, it indicates the combination of words, attitudes that express appreciation, admiration or reverence towards someone.
