Research has shown that senior Australians want to remain at home for as long as possible and want to be supported to manage the risks associated with staying at home for longer. Amidst an ever evolving sector, governing bodies now more than ever need to be aware of consumers expectations to live independently, be treated with dignity and respect and to be involved in decisions about their own care. This understanding should drive strategic planning and make the most of emerging opportunities in aged care to meet the needs of older Australians. This has more recently seen an increased focus in the sector for the delivery of in-home aged care as the sector prepares for a system redesign. In this episode, Glenn Powers the CFO of myHomecare Group, discusses his experiences as an executive leader of a home care provider and some of the challenges in delivering home care services through a period of sector change. This Georgia couple started Billboards for Jesus earlier this year to "hold the Lord's banner over the city of Columbus." On this podcast that you should subscribe to...the small business owners, home church pastors, and grandparents talk about those ads for God, plus other hot topics like financial wellness and abortion, which they did themselves when they got pregnant 4 decades ago. (5:25) Tim and Angie Hollis talk about the origins of https://billboardsforgod.square.site/, why they're doing this, and what Bible scriptures inspired them to put the 8-9 rotating billboards all over Columbus GA. The cost to do this for a year is at least $100K and they're raising money to keep it going. (12:45) Do God and money mix? Tim leads a financial wellness ministry and explains some key advice to help people get out of debt, involving stewardship and generosity. (18:17) They're also both focused on stopping abortions locally and nationwide. Angie is a sidewalk advocate for ministries near a local abortion clinic. She herself had an abortion 41 years ago, which Tim now calls the "worst decision" of their life. How does she spread the Pro-Life message without appearing judgmental? (28:20) This couple are also creators and pastors for the Living Water Home Church, with traditional Sunday morning services at their house with a congregation of 20+. It's a growing trend. How does it differ from traditional church and what do they say to skeptics? They talk about it being similar to small group, where you can be vulnerable like she was in confessing about abortion and healing. (38:22) Tim and Angie also opened Home Care Services of Columbus in 2005, to help care for senior citizens. They discuss the balance of running a business and church out of the place where they live. And they've got a growing family too, with a recent wedding and also a 2nd grandson recently born. (44:25) Back to billboards for Jesus, they explain how they come up with the simple messages, some of their favorites, how donations are spent, building the Kingdom of God this way, and not having an agenda or promoting a church with these billboards. And I close the episode, as always, in prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Also, write a quick review about it, on Apple podcasts. As we age, our needs change, and our homes should adapt to meet those needs. For seniors, making home improvements can not only make their living space more comfortable and functional but also safer. Here are three things seniors can do to improve their homes.Install Grab Bars and HandrailsFalls are a significant concern for seniors, and one of the best ways to prevent them is by installing grab bars and handrails throughout the home. Bathrooms, hallways, and staircases are key areas where these fixtures should be installed. By providing a sturdy grip, seniors can move around their homes with greater confidence and avoid slips and falls. These fixtures are easy to install and can be found in a variety of styles and finishes to match any decor.Upgrade LightingAs we age, our eyesight often deteriorates, making good lighting essential. Seniors can improve their homes by upgrading lighting fixtures to provide more brightness and illumination. Task lighting can be added to work areas such as kitchens and desks to help with reading and other tasks. Outdoors, motion-activated lighting can be installed to improve visibility and prevent accidents. Having adequate lighting throughout the home can help seniors see clearly and avoid tripping or falling.Improve AccessibilitySeniors may find it challenging to navigate their homes if they have mobility issues or disabilities. Making modifications to improve accessibility can make a significant difference in seniors' daily lives. Ramps or lifts can be installed for those who use wheelchairs or have trouble with stairs. Doorways can be widened to accommodate walkers or other mobility aids. Cabinets and counters can be lowered for easier reach, and doorknobs can be replaced with lever handles that are easier to operate for those with arthritis or limited hand strength. In conclusion, by making these simple changes, seniors can improve their homes' safety, functionality, and comfort. Grab bars and handrails can prevent falls, adequate lighting can improve visibility, and accessibility modifications can make it easier to move around the home. Seniors deserve to live in a space that supports their needs, and these improvements can help them maintain their independence and enjoy their homes for years to come.Links:https://www.caring.com/caregivers/best-walk-in-tubs/View the blog post on my website... Jake Rankin Talem Home Care Services Interview with Jake Rankin Talem Home Care Services #TalemHomeCare #Services #JakeRankin Hi, and welcome to the show! On today's My Future Business Show I have the pleasure of welcoming to the show, owner, certified senior advisor and CEO of Talem Home Care Jake Rankin to talk about Talem Home Care, and to take a deep dive into the client-focused services Jake's business provides. This interview is broken up into two parts. This call focuses on the services side of Talem Home Care, followed by a second interview where Jake and I take a deep dive into the franchise opportunities behind his business. To find Jake's franchise interview, type in Talem Home Care Franchise into our search bar. In 2005, Jake Rankin launched his career in healthcare when he started working as a case manager for a non-medical home care agency in Boise, Id. Having already received a Bachelor's Degree with majors in Marketing and Organizational Behavioral Skills in 2003, Jake decided to go back to school to earn an MBA which he received in 2006. During his career in the healthcare industry, Jake gained wide experience understanding the many challenges and resources that face the senior population. He has worked in home health, home care, hospice, and home infusion. In 2010, Jake received his certification as a Certified Senior Advisor. Being a Certified Senior Advisor, specializing in long-term care, post-acute care, and transitional care has allowed Jake to help an uncountable number of seniors and/or their families navigate through the complicated health care system and accomplish their goal of staying healthy and independent at home for as long as possible. Jake has been CEO of Talem Home Care, LLC since its inception in September of 2013. In addition to launching this great new company, Jake is also an active member in the community and can often be found (when not on the softball fields) supporting various charities or volunteering at local assisted livings and nursing homes. Melanie Mosshart at Hospitality Home Care talks about Home Care Services. A home care organization is a huge support for caregivers. If you're a caregiver, then whether you need a home care organization or not, you need to find one, interview one, and have one ready to go at a moment's notice. When there's an unexpected emergency or crisis, people just don't know what to do or which way to turn, they don't always have the time or knowledge necessary to take care of somebody.
