If you have ever wondered about how education can improve us as people, then this is the episode for you. Paul Krauss MA LPC interviews Dr. Duncan Pritchard, Ph.D about a holistic method of learning "how" to think instead of just "what" to think. Learn more what Intellectual Virtues are and how they may help you and your organization flourish.  In 2019, Duncan Pritchard Ph.D, Distinguished Professor of philosophy at the University of California, Irvine, launched a pilot program called “Anteater Virtues” – a series of interdisciplinary, faculty-led modules geared toward promoting a set of intellectual character traits – curiosity, integrity, humility and tenacity - that can help students develop into more inquisitive, open-minded and authentic individuals. Early results demonstrate that program participants show greater intellectual growth than their peers, with this positive effect stable across all the main demographic groupings. “Intellectual virtues promote ways of thinking, reasoning and seeking the truth. Learning intellectual humility, for example, can enhance open-mindedness and respect for other people's opinions, whereas intellectual tenacity can improve students' willingness to overcome intellectual obstacles,” Pritchard says. He adds that these skills are essential not only for academic pursuits, but also for navigating a daily life that's increasingly online and often laced with misinformation and manipulation. When neurons fire together they wire together, creating electromagnetic fields. These fields are invisible energy, yet they influence the molecules of matter around us the way a magnet organizes iron filings. If you are looking for a guided meditation that will raise your vibration then you have found the right place. This is run by award-winning & best selling author Dawson Church.Dawson Church, PhD, is an award-winning science writer with three best-selling books to his credit. Genie in Your Genes: Epigenetic Medicine and the New Biology of Intention was the first book to demonstrate that emotions drive gene expression.Your genes respond to your thoughts, emotions and beliefs. The way you use your mind shapes your brain, turning genes on and off in ways that can dramatically affect your health and wellbeing. In this best-selling, award-winning book, researcher Dawson Church reveals the exciting applications of the new science of Epigenetics (epi=above, i.e. control above the level of the gene) to healing.Citing hundreds of scientific studies, and telling the stories of dozens of people who have used his ideas for their own healing, he shows how you can apply these discoveries in your own life. He explains how electromagnetic energy flows in your body and affects your cells, and how the new fields of energy medicine and energy psychology can help cases that are beyond the reach of conventional medicine. He shows how your hormonal, neurological, connective tissue, and neurotransmitter systems all work in harmony to conduct a coordinated flow of information throughout your body.As you take conscious control of the process, you produce a positive effect on your health, becoming an "epigenetic engineer" of your own wellbeing. Practical and scientific, this book has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of people. This new edition is updated with the latest research and clinical breakthroughs.Mind to Matter: The Astonishing Science of How Your Brain Creates Material RealityEvery creation begins as a thought, from a symphony to a marriage to an ice cream cone to a rocket launch. When we have an intention, a complex chain of events begins in our brains. Thoughts travel as electrical impulses along neural pathways. When neurons fire together they wire together, creating electromagnetic fields. These fields are invisible energy, yet they influence the molecules of matter around us the way a magnet organizes iron filings. In Mind to Matter, award-winning researcher Dawson Church explains the science showing how our minds create matter. Different intentions produce different fields and different material creations. The thoughts and energy fields we cultivate in our minds condition the atoms and molecules around us. We can now trace the science behind each link in chain from thought to thing, showing the surprising ways in which our intentions create the material world. The science in the book is illustrated by many authentic case histories of people who harnessed the extraordinary power of the mind to create. They include:• Adeline, whose Stage 4 cancer disappeared after she imagined "healing stars"• Raymond Aaron and two of his clients, each of whom manifested $1 million in the same week• Elon Musk, who bounced back from devastating tragedy to found Tesla and SpaceX• Graham Phillips, who grew the emotional regulation part of his brain by 22.8% in two months• Jennifer Graf, whose grandfather's long-dead radio came to life to play love songs the day of her wedding• Harold, whose 80% hearing loss reversed in an hour• Joe Marana, whose deceased sister comforted him from beyond the grave• Rick Geggie, whose clogged arteries cleared up the night before cardiac surgery• Matthias Rust, a teen whose "airplane flight for peace" changed the fate of superpowers• Wanda Burch, whose dream about cancer told the surgeon exactly where to look for it• An MIT freshman student who can precipitate sodium crystals with his mind• John, who found himself floating out of his body and returned to find his AIDS healed• Dean, whose cortisol levels dropped by 48% in a single hourIn Mind to Matter, Dawson Church shows that these outcomes aren't a lucky accident only a few people experience. Neuroscientists have measured a specific brain wave formula that is linked to manifestation. This "flow state" can be learned and applied by anyone. New discoveries in epigenetics, neuroscience, electromagnetism, psychology, vibration, and quantum physics connect each step in the process by which mind creates matter. They show that the whole universe is self-organizing, and when our minds are in a state of flow, they coordinate with nature's emergent intelligence to produce synchronous outcomes. The book contained over 150 photos and illustrations that explain the process, while an "Extended Play" section at the end of each chapter provides additional resources. As Mind to Matter drops each piece of the scientific puzzle into place, it leaves us with a profound understanding of the enormous creative potential of our minds. It also gives us a road map to cultivating these remarkable brain states in our daily lives.Bliss Brain: The Neuroscience of Remodeling Your Brain for Resilience, Creativity, and Joy demonstrates that peak mental states rapidly remodel the brain for happiness. Dawson has conducted dozens of clinical trials, and founded the National Institute for Integrative Healthcare to promote groundbreaking new treatments.Neural plasticity-the discovery that the brain is capable of rewiring itself-is now widely understood. But what few people have grasped yet is how quickly this is happening, how extensive brain changes can be, and how much control each of us has over the process. In Bliss Brain, famed researcher Dawson Church digs deep into leading-edge science, and finds stunning evidence of rapid and radical brain change. In just eight weeks of practice, 12 minutes a day, using the right techniques, we can produce measurable changes in our brains. These make us calmer, happier, and more resilient. When we cultivate these pleasurable states over time, they become traits. We don't just feel more blissful as a temporary state; the changes are literally hard-wired into our brains, becoming stable and enduring personality traits. The startling conclusions of Church's research show that neural remodeling goes much farther than scientists have previously understood, with stress circuits shriveling over time. Simultaneously, "The Enlightenment Circuit"-associated with happiness, compassion, productivity, creativity, and resilience-expands.During deep meditation, Church shows how "the 7 neurochemicals of ecstasy" are released in our brains. These include anandamide, a neurotransmitter that's been named "the bliss molecule" because it mimics the effects of THC, the active ingredient in cannabis. It boosts serotonin and dopamine; the first is an analog of psilocybin, the second of cocaine. He shows how cultivating these elevated emotional states literally produces a self-induced high. While writing Bliss Brain, Church went through a series of disasters, including escaping seconds ahead of a California wildfire that consumed his home and office and claimed 22 lives. The fire triggered a painful medical condition and a financial disaster. Through it all, Church steadily practiced the techniques of Bliss Brain while teaching them to thousands of other people. This book weaves his story of resilience into the fabric of neuroscience, producing a fascinating picture of just how happy we can make our brains, no matter what the odds. Its largest program, the Veterans Stress Project, has offered free treatment to over 20,000 veterans with PTSD over the past decade. Dawson shares how to apply these health and performance breakthroughs through EFT Universe, one of the largest alternative medicine sites on the web.

Change Lives Make Money: The Podcast For Online Trainers

Today's show is called “Out of Sight, Out of Mind.” But it's also about “In Sight, In Mind.” So, what the hell does “In Sight, In Mind” mean? Well, I'll tell you. But first I want to tell you a story that Coach Cole told me. There was a study done with a bunch of people in an office. What they did is they put this bowl of candy in the middle of the office where everyone could see it. They monitored it for a couple of days, and over time the candy disappeared. So, they took the bowl of candy and put it somewhere where it was still within sight, but also off to the side of the office rather than in the middle. They noticed that the candy still disappeared, but not nearly as quickly as when it was in the middle of the office. They moved the candy further away, and it took even longer for the bowl to empty. They then took the bowl of candy out of the room and out of sight. No one ate any of the candy. This topic of “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” fascinates me, because it reminds me of how I overcame my drug addiction. The main thing I did was to remove myself from all of the environments that even triggered the thought of drugs.  I went to a completely different city and I worked at a Summer camp as a cleaner for three months. I cut myself off completely from my old life and my old friends. (Listen to episode #477 and learn how “Out of Sight, Out of Mind” can help you overcome your own problems!) I've Been There.
