In this episode of the MindHealth360 Show, we explore the future of healthcare with James Maskell, a pioneering advocate for functional and integrative medicine, author of “The Evolution of Medicine” and “The Community Cure” (check titles), and founder of the largest global network of functional medicine educational and practitioner groups, the “Functional Forum”. Mr. Maskell discusses the growing burden of chronic diseases, the limitations of conventional medicine and how functional medicine addresses the root causes of illness, as well as the importance of community based care for healing. Mr. Maskell has been at the forefront of efforts to make functional medicine more accessible and effective at scale. The conversation covers the development of community-based healthcare models, such as group medical visits, which combine the power of social connection with medical care. Mr. Maskell explains how these models can enhance patient outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and address psychosocial factors that contribute to chronic disease. He emphasises the need for a shift toward participatory and preventive healthcare, where patients are active participants in their health journey. In this episode, you'll learn about: - The Role of Functional Medicine in Chronic Disease Management: explore how functional medicine's root cause approach can reverse chronic diseases by focusing on personalised care, and lifestyle interventions while simultaneously addressing underlying physiological imbalances. - Innovative Group Medical Visits: learn about the implementation and effectiveness of group medical visits in functional medicine. These visits not only address the medical needs of patients but also provide social support, which is crucial for improving outcomes in chronic illness and mental health. - Health Economics and Functional Medicine: understand the financial implications of adopting functional medicine in healthcare systems. Mr. Maskell discusses how functional medicine can lead to significant cost savings by reducing the need for chronic disease management through medications and frequent hospitalisations. - Psychosocial and Psychospiritual Factors in Healthcare: mr. Maskell highlights the importance of addressing psychosocial determinants of health, such as loneliness and stress, which are often overlooked in traditional medicine but are critical for effective chronic disease management. - Integration of Functional Medicine into Mainstream Healthcare: discover the challenges and opportunities in bringing functional medicine into mainstream healthcare systems, including overcoming resistance from traditional medical practices and the pharmaceutical industry. - The Impact of Community in Healthcare: mr. Maskell's work demonstrates how community-based approaches can enhance patient engagement, adherence to treatment plans, and overall well-being, particularly in managing complex, chronic conditions. - The Future of Functional Medicine: insights into how technology and data-driven approaches are being integrated into functional medicine to improve diagnostic accuracy, treatment personalisation and scalability of care models. Send us a Text Message.English Description (German below)Guest: Tobias EschWhat is the meaning of life? In the podcast, we draw from Tolstoy's existential dilemmas with this question as a foundation for exploring diverse approaches to adopting a positive outlook on life. We juxtapose Tolstoy's inquiries with Viktor Frankl's quest for meaning under drastically different circumstances: enduring total deprivation in a concentration camp. This contrast aims to help us think along different pathways in the search for life's purpose.Guiding us along these pathways is Tobias Esch, general practitioner, neuro- and health scientist, professor and head of the Institute of Integrative Healthcare and Health Promotion at the private University of Witten/Herdecke. He is a bestselling author of mental health care books discussing things such as why we should bother getting up in the morning and why we need more of less. Dreams give us guidance in so many different ways, helping us solve problems, gain insights into our behavior, ignite our creativity and so much more. But if you really want to supercharge your dreaming experience, then it's time to take a look at lucid dreaming. For the unaware, a lucid dream is a dream where you realize you're dreaming while you're in the dream. Most people, when they become lucid, like to do fun things like fly in the air, travel through buildings and have fanciful sex. But lucid dreaming also enables you to make contact with yourself in a way not possible in waking life. How? For that, I turn to noted Dream Researcher and Educator Robert Hoss, who in this episode tells us:· the importance of lucid dreams· his favorite techniques for getting lucid· how to access lucid dreaming wisdom· the types of messages you can receive in a lucid dream and who you can get them from· how his own lucid dreams changed the course of his life· when lucid dreams can bring comfort to your daily life· Plus – as Director of the International Association for the Study of Dreams Annual Conference, Robert gives us a preview of this year's event! If you're ready to take a deep dive into your soul, check out how you can step into the world of lucid dreaming on this profound episode of Dream Power Radio. Robert Hoss, MS is a director and past president of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, Director of the DreamScience Foundation for research grants, faculty member of the Haden Institute, and on the board of the National Institute for Integrative Healthcare. Mandara Cromwell the CEO of Cyma Technologies discusses the power of sound to bridge the gap between eastern and western medicine to create a new level of healthcare. Mandara Cromwell is responsible for bringing the work of Dr. Peter Guy Manners to the United States. She developed his more than 40 years of research along with new findings by other scientists and doctors into the advanced sound technology devices manufactured by Cyma Technologies, now available to consumers. Manners had worked since the 1940s with a collaborative group of scientists and medical doctors in researching the biosignatures of the human body. During that time, he and his group developed over 700 commutations to identify the precise combinations of frequencies associated with healthy tissue and organ systems. Each commutation consisted of five harmonic frequencies of audible sound that supported the body in normalizing imbalances and synchronizing the cell's frequency back to its natural state of vibrational resonance. While Dr. Manners and his colleagues were proceeding with their research, another Swiss medical doctor, Hans Jenny was conducting “cymatic” (sound wave) experiments. Jenny coined the new term, “cymatics,” which comes from the Greek word meaning wave. Due to respect for Jenny's work, Dr. Manners named his work “cymatic therapy.” Ms. Cromwell began traveling to the United Kingdom in 2001 to study with Dr. Manners, which initiated her journey to bring these therapeutic sound developments to the United States. During one of her visits, Dr. Manners gave his research to her saying, “I have taken this work as far as I can. Now it is your turn.” [Cyma Technologies – Visit the Website] • [Cyma Technologies – Buy her Book]

Next Level Soul with Alex Ferrari: A Spirituality & Personal Growth Podcast
If you are looking for a guided meditation that will raise your vibration then you have found the right place. This is run by award-winning & best selling author Dawson Church.Dawson Church, PhD, is an award-winning science writer with three best-selling books to his credit. Genie in Your Genes: Epigenetic Medicine and the New Biology of Intention was the first book to demonstrate that emotions drive gene expression.Your genes respond to your thoughts, emotions and beliefs. The way you use your mind shapes your brain, turning genes on and off in ways that can dramatically affect your health and wellbeing. In this best-selling, award-winning book, researcher Dawson Church reveals the exciting applications of the new science of Epigenetics (epi=above, i.e. control above the level of the gene) to healing.Citing hundreds of scientific studies, and telling the stories of dozens of people who have used his ideas for their own healing, he shows how you can apply these discoveries in your own life. He explains how electromagnetic energy flows in your body and affects your cells, and how the new fields of energy medicine and energy psychology can help cases that are beyond the reach of conventional medicine. He shows how your hormonal, neurological, connective tissue, and neurotransmitter systems all work in harmony to conduct a coordinated flow of information throughout your body.As you take conscious control of the process, you produce a positive effect on your health, becoming an "epigenetic engineer" of your own wellbeing. Practical and scientific, this book has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of people. This new edition is updated with the latest research and clinical breakthroughs.Mind to Matter: The Astonishing Science of How Your Brain Creates Material RealityEvery creation begins as a thought, from a symphony to a marriage to an ice cream cone to a rocket launch. When we have an intention, a complex chain of events begins in our brains. Thoughts travel as electrical impulses along neural pathways. When neurons fire together they wire together, creating electromagnetic fields. These fields are invisible energy, yet they influence the molecules of matter around us the way a magnet organizes iron filings. In Mind to Matter, award-winning researcher Dawson Church explains the science showing how our minds create matter. Different intentions produce different fields and different material creations. The thoughts and energy fields we cultivate in our minds condition the atoms and molecules around us. We can now trace the science behind each link in chain from thought to thing, showing the surprising ways in which our intentions create the material world. The science in the book is illustrated by many authentic case histories of people who harnessed the extraordinary power of the mind to create. They include:• Adeline, whose Stage 4 cancer disappeared after she imagined "healing stars"• Raymond Aaron and two of his clients, each of whom manifested $1 million in the same week• Elon Musk, who bounced back from devastating tragedy to found Tesla and SpaceX• Graham Phillips, who grew the emotional regulation part of his brain by 22.8% in two months• Jennifer Graf, whose grandfather's long-dead radio came to life to play love songs the day of her wedding• Harold, whose 80% hearing loss reversed in an hour• Joe Marana, whose deceased sister comforted him from beyond the grave• Rick Geggie, whose clogged arteries cleared up the night before cardiac surgery• Matthias Rust, a teen whose "airplane flight for peace" changed the fate of superpowers• Wanda Burch, whose dream about cancer told the surgeon exactly where to look for it• An MIT freshman student who can precipitate sodium crystals with his mind• John, who found himself floating out of his body and returned to find his AIDS healed• Dean, whose cortisol levels dropped by 48% in a single hourIn Mind to Matter, Dawson Church shows that these outcomes aren't a lucky accident only a few people experience. Neuroscientists have measured a specific brain wave formula that is linked to manifestation. This "flow state" can be learned and applied by anyone. New discoveries in epigenetics, neuroscience, electromagnetism, psychology, vibration, and quantum physics connect each step in the process by which mind creates matter. They show that the whole universe is self-organizing, and when our minds are in a state of flow, they coordinate with nature's emergent intelligence to produce synchronous outcomes. The book contained over 150 photos and illustrations that explain the process, while an "Extended Play" section at the end of each chapter provides additional resources. As Mind to Matter drops each piece of the scientific puzzle into place, it leaves us with a profound understanding of the enormous creative potential of our minds. It also gives us a road map to cultivating these remarkable brain states in our daily lives.Bliss Brain: The Neuroscience of Remodeling Your Brain for Resilience, Creativity, and Joy demonstrates that peak mental states rapidly remodel the brain for happiness. Dawson has conducted dozens of clinical trials, and founded the National Institute for Integrative Healthcare to promote groundbreaking new treatments.Neural plasticity-the discovery that the brain is capable of rewiring itself-is now widely understood. But what few people have grasped yet is how quickly this is happening, how extensive brain changes can be, and how much control each of us has over the process. In Bliss Brain, famed researcher Dawson Church digs deep into leading-edge science, and finds stunning evidence of rapid and radical brain change. In just eight weeks of practice, 12 minutes a day, using the right techniques, we can produce measurable changes in our brains. These make us calmer, happier, and more resilient. When we cultivate these pleasurable states over time, they become traits. We don't just feel more blissful as a temporary state; the changes are literally hard-wired into our brains, becoming stable and enduring personality traits. The startling conclusions of Church's research show that neural remodeling goes much farther than scientists have previously understood, with stress circuits shriveling over time. Simultaneously, "The Enlightenment Circuit"-associated with happiness, compassion, productivity, creativity, and resilience-expands.During deep meditation, Church shows how "the 7 neurochemicals of ecstasy" are released in our brains. These include anandamide, a neurotransmitter that's been named "the bliss molecule" because it mimics the effects of THC, the active ingredient in cannabis. It boosts serotonin and dopamine; the first is an analog of psilocybin, the second of cocaine. He shows how cultivating these elevated emotional states literally produces a self-induced high. While writing Bliss Brain, Church went through a series of disasters, including escaping seconds ahead of a California wildfire that consumed his home and office and claimed 22 lives. The fire triggered a painful medical condition and a financial disaster. Through it all, Church steadily practiced the techniques of Bliss Brain while teaching them to thousands of other people. This book weaves his story of resilience into the fabric of neuroscience, producing a fascinating picture of just how happy we can make our brains, no matter what the odds. Its largest program, the Veterans Stress Project, has offered free treatment to over 20,000 veterans with PTSD over the past decade. Dawson shares how to apply these health and performance breakthroughs through EFT Universe, one of the largest alternative medicine sites on the web.

Sultan Salah is an experienced practitioner and educator in the areas of Ayurveda, holistic healthcare, natural healing, and integrative medicine. He has 6 years experience teaching and developing academic curricula and has developed 2 of the nation's accredited degree programs in Ayurveda at Maharishi International University. Sultan has studied Ayurveda for over a decade. He's also received extensive training in the following areas: nutrition, anatomy and physiology, herbology, and physical therapy. He is a passionate speaker, teacher, and student of the health sciences - blending practical experience with his breadth of knowledge. He has completed clinical training in India and has earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Ayurveda and Integrative Healthcare.Sultan currently consults as an Ayurvedic Healthcare Specialist though his business, Ayurveda for the Soul (Sultan's current home base is Santa Monica, CA), where he offers client consultations in restoring balance and Vedic counseling and couching. A sampling of his services include:unraveling abstract mental health issues;navigating major life decisions;dharma coaching - how to discover and evolve in your purpose;trauma work;support for mental, spiritual, emotional healing and evolution;teaching and facilitating your direct experience of the subtle forces and energies that are at play in your mind-body.Highlights of my interview with Sultan:"Ayurveda is a cosmic science because it was born of the consciousness of rishis or we could say sages or saints as opposed to modern medicine which uses objective scientific research.""Essentially, you are not your mind or body. You are your jiva, a Sanskrit word for soul. When you incarnate into a human being, you are incarnating into five layers – the pancha maya kosha - which are the five subtle bodies.""Herbs and diet are a wonderful part of Ayurveda, but the ability to directly perceive and engage with the more subtle dimensions of the client I am working with is much more profound in terms of the healing. To be able to interface with the subtle bodies in one of the deeper aspects of Ayurveda.""According to the literature, Ayurveda is the Science of Life. There is no implication that this means the Science of Heath. It certainly is one part of it. The majority of the literature of family lines that are still going today speak to health more than anything else. One of the great Vaidyas told me that the literature on Ayurveda and health is very small. In the Vedic literature, it is described that when Brahman (the Creator) finished creating the universe, Brahman remembered Ayurveda. Ayurveda is the blueprint of creation. It is like the software of the hardware of the universe. It is said that when Brahman remembers Ayurveda, he enters into discourse with Lord Shiva and relearns all the nuances and details of this cosmic science. Again Ayurveda is not a medical science and is not even a science exclusive to our planet.""Ayurveda is very clear that there is one ultimate cause of all disease: pragyapradh, a lack of remembering of who we really are. It essentially means “mistakenly understanding creation as being something other than what it really is.” Pragyapradh – which is essentially lack of enlightenment – really is the cause of all disease. Many doctors, even modern medical doctors, say we have to address the cause. Ayurveda is beautifully sophisticated and also amazingly simple. With this proposition, Ayurveda indicates that there is really only one cause of all disease."Find Sultan:Ayurveda for the Soul
Season Two of Third Opinion MD launches on May 10, 2022. For this second season, the overall theme is the true integration of our healthcare system, from the inside out. I'm excited about where this theme will take us! I'm bringing guests to share insights about how doctors are trained today, and give you an idea of how integrative healthcare can happen with how we train doctors. I'll be talking with an expert on how to take an integrative approach to trauma. And I'll be digging deeper into the history of how we inherited the healthcare system we have, and why some medicine is considered traditional while other medicine is considered alternative. I will take a look at who decides which label (“traditional” or “alternative”) gets placed on certain types of medicine, and how a type of medicine is determined to be mainstream or fringe. Join me next week, when I have Alisha Harrington join me to talk about how doctors are trained today, as we take a look at the potential for integrative medical education.
There are dreams, and then there are the dreams that really make us sit up and take notice. Dreams where we have conversations with departed loved ones. Dreams where we can control the action and are aware of what we're doing while we're sleeping. And while they're not exactly dreams, out of body experiences are another real phenomenon that can transform the way we view and experience our waking life. We take a look at these dreams and more with one of my favorite dream researchers, Robert Hoss, who has devoted his life into exploring all facets of what happens after we fall asleep at night. Bob is a Director and Past President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams, is an award-winning author and teacher and is the Director of the IASD's Annual Conference. In this free-wheeling interview, Bob explains:•what happens in visitation dreams•the beauty of psychopompic dreams•how dreams give us a glimpse of heaven•the dreams that help us grieve•what out of body experiences tell us about our consciousness•why he loves lucid dreaming•and get a preview of this summer's IASD ConferenceIf you're ready to up your dreaming experiences to a new level, you won't want to miss this spirited episode of Dream Power Radio. Robert Hoss, MS a Director and Past President of IASD; IASD Conference Director, directs the IASD/DSF (DreamScience Foundation) for research Grants; faculty trainer for the Haden Institute; board of the National Institute of Integrative Healthcare. He is: author or managing editor/author of Dream Language (Innersource, 2005-2014), Dream to Freedom (EP Press, 2013); Dreams that Change Our Lives (Chiron, 2017) and Dreams: Understanding Biology, Psychology and Culture (Greenwood, 2019); a chapter author in eight other books including Working with Dreams and PTSD Nightmares (Praeger, 2016) and the Encyclopedia of Sleep and Dreams (Praeger, 2012); and is published in three professional journals. A frequent guest on radio and TV, he was host of the IASD DreamTime Radio series and has been an internationally acclaimed lecturer and/or instructor on dreams and dreamwork at various institutions, colleges and universities for over 40 years. He holds a Master of Science degree and has training and/or experience in Gestalt Therapy and various humanistic and contemporary dreamworking approaches. He was also a former scientist, and applied researcher, with four patents and a global corporate executive at both American Express and IBM. He retired early, however, to devote his science and management skills to dream studies. His Transformative Dreamwork protocol is based on a unique blending of research and psychology: Gestalt work, Jungian theory and practice, the neurobiology of dreaming, plus his research into the significance of color in dreams.
