This episode with money expert Jason Cunningham was not what either of us expected it to be. It was much better. As much as possible (and is practical) I try not to plan the conversations I have with guests but I guess we both thought we'd talk primarily about money, business, career, etc. We didn't. What transpired was a deep and philosophical about dealing with hard sh*t (which he has been for the last few years), coming out the other side, the lessons we learn along the way and how we change in the middle of it. Enjoy. jasoncunningham.com.auSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today's interview was one to remember. I invited Jason Cunningham, known as The Money Man to talk to us about our financial wellness during these times we are facing as a society. I had been listening to his podcast Save My Business over the pandemic, and found it a wonderful and insightful resource. I warmed to Jason's mannerisms in that show and reached out to him to chat to us about his key findings and perhaps give us some useful tips to take away. I got that – but, I also got so much more. Jason turned up to this interview fully. Authentically and honestly, and the interview took a turn into something rather special. As a seasoned media professional having worked on The Living Room as a TV presenter and also on Triple M Radio, Jason is used to turning it on for the camera or the mic – but in this chat, he also opened up to share his struggles, emotions, and difficulties he's been going through. This chat that will resonate with many. It has been a difficult year for so all of us in a variety of different ways, each of us have been affected in one way or another - and I always say, when we share openly we allow others to do the same, and learn from our experiences. I hope you enjoy this raw conversation with Jason as much as I did, and - I would love to keep this conversation going for anyone who needs to chat about it further – do reach out. This episode is brought to you by Conscious Conversations, to celebrate the launch of the latest product, the Money Mindset Conversation Starter cards, which include questions to help us get clear on our financial mindset…. A wonderful resource for us who want to understand our financial beliefs and to trigger necessary steps to take to enhance our financial wellbeing. I was recently on Jason Cunningham's podcast (Save My Business) and not surprisingly, we spoke about the trials and tribulations of building and running a business (of any size), making a few quid (as my dad would say) and having some fun along the way. We also discussed the ever-present challenge of managing our sanity, energy and focus in the middle of, what can be, the unpredictable, uncertain and uncomfortable nature of business. He's a good lad and this was fun. Enjoy.
Covid 19 is wreaking havoc on a range of fronts; physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and of course, financially. Jason Cunningham is the co-owner of The Practice, a business advisory firm in Victoria Australia, an author and media commentator on radio and television, including Network Ten's The Living Room. On this episode, we will discuss his latest book, Have Your Cake & Sell it Too - The 7 Key Ingredients of Business Success, and how podiatrists can benefit from this information and come out of the COVID-19 pandemic with all guns blazing. We also talk about: Beginning with the end in mind, and why this is powerful. You are building a business that’s ready for sale, even if you don’t want to sell it. When a business is ready for sale, what does it look like, sound and feel like? Highly profitable Amazing cashflow A team that is a delight to work with Customers that keep coming back Runs without you Someone will one day offer you big bucks, but you’re in a position to say no. Most professional services work for themselves because they are great at what they do and think that's the natural next step. Employing people better than yourself to work with you. Understanding the long game of building a business that’s suitable for the ultimate customers, which is the one person that is going to buy your business Why you need to start building an designing it right now, not when you think you may want to sell Hire the best podiatrists, don’t try and be the best podiatrist You need to have a STRATEGY: Most businesses don’t have a plan. It’s five years old and sits in the office draw. And no one else in the business knows the plan. You need to train your team to the plan, and it needs to be crystal clear to everyone involved. You need to be continuously reminded of the game plan each day. How is everyone tracking to the plan? (KPI’s) it's essential to Understand Yourself You must build your mission statement and be on purpose. Who do I serve, and how do I serve them? Once again, be crystal clear. Mission statement, 20 words or less What do you stand for? (core values and culture) Final Tip Never before has collaboration be so profound and so important, we may feel disconnected, but we are very much connected, therefore the more you put into this world, the more that will come back to you, and the reverse is also true. Network Ten's Jason Cunningham (and TYP's unpaid money expert) is back to help us navigate the murky waters of generating, spending, saving, investing and maximising our hard-earned. This is a user-friendly conversation for people (like Craig) who are not ‘experts' in this space.
Today was BUDGET DAY !The boys had Greg Hire and Jason Cunningham from ‘The Living Room’ to discuss the budget.. Jason gave them the low down on what it’s all about while Greg put his twist on it pulling out some interesting facts.. Nathan and Shaun definitely learnt a couple of new things..including lots about ants. Weird. A feisty cat attacked a man walking his dog… so unheard of! Colleen was minding her own business when a gang of the furry felines pounced and Paula’s cat has a thing for ankles..West Australians have been asked to be on their best behaviour..but who did the asking? Kelly took her new man home to meet the family and let’s just say he won’t be visiting anytime soon.. and Laura was invited to a charity ball where her drunk husband let out something not so tasteful… And it was an Italian affair for Breakfast Club this morning, Sara’s family including her two Nonna’s provided the goods and it looks like no one’s eating for the rest of the week.. leftovers for everybody! Jason Cunningham This excerpt was taken from https://www.afcent.af.mil/Units/455th-Air-Expeditionary-Wing/Biographies/Display/Article/273804/senior-airman-jason-d-cunningham/ The article continues in comments on this post. “Pararescueman Senior Airman Jason D. Cunningham, gave his life in Afghanistan while saving 10 lives and making it possible for seven others who were killed to come home, was posthumously awarded the Air Force Cross Sept. 13, 2002. The Air Force Cross is awarded for extraordinary heroism while engaged in action against an enemy of our nation. It is second only to the Medal of Honor. Cunningham was a Carlsbad, N.M., native, and joined the Air Force's elite combat rescue program and graduated pararescue technical training in June 2001. He was deployed to Southwest Asia in February 2002. On March 4, Cunningham was the primary Air Force combat search and rescue medic assigned to a quick reaction force in Afghanistan. The force was sent to rescue two American servicemen evading capture in austere terrain occupied by al-Qaida and Taliban forces. Before landing, his MH-47E Chinook helicopter received rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire, disabling the aircraft and forcing it to crash-land. Crewmembers formed a hasty defense and immediately suffered three fatalities and five critical casualties. The citation accompanying Cunningham's Air Force Cross reads, "Despite effective enemy fire, and at great risk to his own life, Airman Cunningham remained in the burning fuselage of the aircraft in order to treat the wounds. As he moved his patients to a more secure location, mortar rounds began to impact within 50 feet of his position. "Disregarding this extreme danger, he continued the movement and exposed himself to enemy fire on seven separate occasions. When the second casualty collection point was also compromised, in a display of uncommon valor and gallantry, Airman Cunningham braved an intense small arms and rocket-propelled grenade attack while repositioning the critically wounded to a third collection point." The citation continues, "Even after he was mortally wounded and quickly deteriorating, he continued to direct patient movement and transferred care to another medic. In the end, his distinct efforts led to the successful delivery of 10 gravely wounded Americans to life-saving medical treatment." Cunningham was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery on March 11, 2002.” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/veteransadvocate/support
