This prevents company leadership from making necessary changes, and prevents people from feeling fulfilled, recognized, and included at work. At AllVoices, we want to change that by providing a completely safe, anonymous way for people to report issues directly to company leaders. This allows company leadership real transparency into what's happening in their companies—and the motivation to address issues quickly. Our goal is to help create safer, more inclusive companies.

Don't be afraid to let others take the reins.   BEST MOMENTS “When you've got the right mentor and when you've got a really solid goal, it's happening or it's happening. You're just unstoppable.” “This is one of the things I learned during the process of systemisation, and it was a really uncomfortable lesson for me, and it was realising that there are a lot of people out there that will do things a lot better than I can. There are a lot of people out there better, smarter, more experienced in certain aspects and I think letting go of the incredibly limiting belief that I had to be the smartest person in the business otherwise no one would respect me. I had to be constantly in control otherwise things might fall apart. When I learned to completely let go and let people make the mistake and then correct it, I'd be like oh my god, they've done it better.”   VALUABLE RESOURCES Leadership Revealed Podcast Castledene Sales & Lettings   ABOUT THE HOST John has several Estate and Letting Agencies in the North-East of England. EP208: Saving The Family Farms Of America With Walt Dasher, Owner Of G&R Farms And Founder Of Growing America's Farmers

The Produce Moms Podcast

“If you don't have the next generation of kids going back to their family business or starting new farming operations, we're going to have a problem in 20 or 30 years.”   Walt Dasher (20:24-20:35)   Walt Dasher is the proud owner of third-generation, family-owned G&R Farms where they do more than just grow delicious Vidalia and Preuvian onions, they are fostering the Future Farmers of America (FFA) through a program Walt started called Growing America's Farmers. G&R Farms has always hired local kids in or just out of high school to do additional work during the summer, like driving tractors, for example. But in 2015, not one single application came Walt's way when in years prior they'd always have an immediate and great response.   On top of it, many of the applicants that Walt interviewed had time restrictions, couldn't work the hours required, and weren't seeing this work as the great opportunity it is. Walt reached out to Katrina Jones, Executive Director of The Georgia FFA Foundation, and asked if she could help connect him to local high schoolers and teachers. Her response? Walt's search was like looking for a needle in a haystack.    “We're seeing that the kids who grew up on a farm or are associated with a family farm aren't choosing to go back into the family business. They are electing to move out into other careers. Nobody wants to do what you do anymore,” said Katrina.    Walt experienced this first hand when visiting a local high school to speak and a high school boy who could inherit his family's (very successful) local farm wanted to go into a career in accounting. Walt was stunned to find out this boy believed that “true American farming companies are going to be a thing of the past because the retail industry could care less where the product comes from, whether it's from America or Asia or somewhere else”. Walt had to explain that the reason companies buy products in other countries is because they can't source enough of the product domestically! If they could find everything locally in America, they would buy everything that's available.   “I'm sitting here thinking to myself that other kids in his same position around the country have the same mindset that they feel like the American retail industry or American consumers don't truly support American agriculture.” Walt Dasher (30:00-30:17)   Inspired, Walt shared this information with one of his retail partners and wanted to do something to change the overall perception of retailers and farms in America. Walt started Growing America's Farmers in 2015 to raise awareness through the retail industry. They created their own packaging and point-of-sale material, put it in stores, and embarked on a fundraising program to raise awareness and help young American farmers continue on legacies that are becoming a thing of the past.    In 2015 the average age of an American farmer was 58 years old. Today it's 60, which shows the average age of an American family farmer is still declining because grandchildren in their 20s and 30s aren't coming back to the farm.    The majority of larger retail companies east of Texas have embraced Growing America's Farmers, which brings FFA kids into retail locations to interact with customers. Oftentimes there are lines of 15-20 consumers waiting to talk to the FFA students, ask them questions about their family's history, the farm's history, their future plans, facts about growing and more. A large percentage of the kids Growing America's Farmers was able to financially back are now continuing on into the field.   COVID-19 changed the way Growing America's Farmers had to operate – from packing, to shipping, to transportation, to how products were being displayed, because retailers and consumers alike were terrified of what the coronavirus might bring. Walt used this as an opportunity to change their core marketing message and further drive home the point of needing to be informed of where your food is sourced and is coming from, especially with the heightened concerns COVID-19 brought us.    “You're dealing with a pandemic that nobody's ever even imagined. If you're concerned about the safety of the food stores, this is why it is so critical to know more about your food source and where it comes from.” Walt Dasher (40:27-40:51)   What would you rather eat? A piece of produce grown in a country you aren't familiar with, have no idea when it was harvested or any of the safety procedures taken when transporting it here, or a piece of produce grown right here in America, where you know the date it was harvested and from what field, and where you can meet the kids or the family who grew it?   There's a need for the American consumer to be comfortable and know where their food source comes from and the Growing America's Farmers program can help you with that. Their onion program is on shelves now and will be operating in three retailers east of Texas from May to June, and then west Texas from June to July. Consumers can go to their local retailer, enjoy the customized packaging which tells a story about where their food came from. Growing America's Farmers also has the goal of getting FFA kids back into stores in front of consumers (which was ceased because of COVID-19 restrictions) so they can interact with one another and educate buyers on their farm and produce.    Find out more about G&R Farms' delicious onions by visiting www.grfarmsonions.com and where to connect with Growing America's Farmers next at www.growingamericasfarmers.com.    How to get involved Join The Produce Moms Group on Facebook and continue the discussion every week!  Reach out to us - we'd love to hear more about where you are in life and business! Welcome everyone to this episode of the Conscious Culture podcast with Sarah Riegelhuth, CEO and founder of Grow My Team!  I'm very excited to have my first guest from Europe on the show today: Katrina Jones, a friend of mine through the League of Extraordinary Women, another one of my companies! We've known each other since the League's early days, and we were lucky enough to have Katrina actually launch the League in the UK. We might one day share this story on the League podcast, but for now let's get into Katrina's group of companies under the Kendall Bailey brand, and her journey to becoming a conscious team leader.  - Katrina Jones is the founder and director of Kendall Bailey.  Since founding her first business over seven years ago, Katrina has gone on to build a million-pound group of Property Investment Companies in the UK. She now spends her time mentoring lifestyle entrepreneurs on creating their ideal businesses, giving them the time and financial freedom they desire through property investing. - “The hardest part of what I've done in the last decade is learning how to be a powerful leader.” - Remote work has long moved beyond simply being a trend or a lifestyle. It's a natural evolution in the way we work and collaborate and a complete and vital redesign with profound positive impact for businesses, teams and society as a whole.  With it comes a work culture revolution that requires putting culture, freedom, trust and conscious behaviour at the core of every business who wants to thrive.  I'm Sarah Riegelhuth, your host, and I'm a serial entrepreneur, investor and expert in growing happy, high-performing remote teams.  Since 2014 I've been running all of my businesses remotely and that has deeply changed who I am as a leader.  I've gone from micro-managing an unhappy team suffering high turnover and working long hours to moving to the US, traveling roughly six months of the year, loving the sh*t out of my team and being constantly amazed as to what we're achieving! Join me as we dive deep into conversations about remote work magic, conscious culture, and the future of work with some of the most inspiring founders and leaders in the remote work space.  Insights, tips, success and failure, innovation.. we share it all. Let's dive in! - “Your job on that journey is finding the people you want to learn from and educating yourself.” - In this episode, Katrina Jones and Sarah Riegelhuth get into self-development as leaders, learning from others, authentic leadership and aligning with our values.  - “The only thing I would prescribe to others as leaders is to do the inner work. Learn yourself as much as you possibly can, and bring yourself to your leadership.” - On this episode of Conscious Culture, Sarah Riegelhuth and her guest Katrina Jones also discuss: Educating ourselves Self-trust and confidence in our leadership style Looking up to other leaders Tossing out 90 day plans Trusting our intuition On-going business planning and implementation Finding what feels most resonate to us The sizes of our companies vs the number of our team members The difference between a leader and a manager Gaining the confidence to hire someone better than us at a job The honesty behind the cliche of being the dumbest person in the room Understanding our egos Figuring out where we want to play in our businesses The guilt involved in hiring staff Lean teams How our self-worth and identities are linked to our companies Being a martyr in business and feeling valuable Doing the inner work and expanding our experience Limiting beliefs in business Our stories around building a business The incessant desire to not stop doing Working in a sustainable way Putting energy and intention into our work - “The art is to do all of the research, learn all of the lessons, and then stop and reflect on which ones work, which...

Today we are talking with Katrina Jones, my dear daughter-in-law about her understanding of meditation, how folks can begin a practice of meditation and why? We examine what commonly prevents us from being curious about the practice and examining it further. Is it a mindless practice or a mindfulness practice? Who can meditate? How do I know if I'm doing it right? What is the "Woo Woo Fear?" What is the difference between prayer, contemplation and meditation? Along the way we discuss the appropriate science that connects us to our energy. Rousuck's Review: "Purlie" at Arena Players

It's Thursday, and time for another of theater critic J. Wynn Rousuck's weekly reviews of the Maryland stage. Today, she talks with Tom about Purlie, the 1970 Broadway musical hit that's getting a spirited revival at Arena Players, the oldest continually performing and historically African-American theater community in Baltimore. Set in the segregated, Jim Crow-era American South, Purlie tells the story of a charismatic traveling preacher named Purlie Victorious Judson, who returns to his small Georgia town in the hope of saving Big Bethel, the community's church, and free the indentured black cotton pickers who work on oppressive Ol' Cap'n Cotchipee's plantation. Purlie - which earned five Tony Awards, including for Best Musical, credits its book to veteran stage and screen actor Ossie Davis, Philip Rose and Peter Udell, with lyrics by Udell and music by Gary Geld. The musical was based closely on Davis's 1961 Broadway play, Purlie Victorious, which was adapted in 1963 into the film Gone Are the Days! The movie version featured many of the play's Broadway cast, including Davis, Ruby Dee, Alan Alda, Beah Richards, Godfrey Cambridge, and Sorrell Booke. Directed at Arena Players by Troy Burton, with musical direction by Tevin Brown, Purlie stars Antoine Williams in the title role, along with Stacey Saunders as Lutiebelle and Katrina Jones as Missy. The cast also includes Nate Couser, Xander Golden, Wanda Tyler, Lisa Wooten, Zolita Lester and Michael Barrett. Purlie continues through Sunday, March 1 at Arena Players Baltimore, located at 801 McCulloh St., Baltimore, Maryland 21201. Click here for ticket and location info. [Near the end of today's live theater review, news broke of the sentencing of former Baltimore mayor Catherine Pugh. As he'd promised throughout the hour, Tom brought WYPR's courthouse reporter Emily Sullivan immediately on the line for a live update. We've left the audio of Emily's debriefer in place, beginning at 7:32 into the segment.]

Ep. 31 — A single mother of two young sons takes lessons from her grandfather, a small-time hustler turned big-time property owner, about the value of homeownership / Katrina Jones, VP, Single Family Mortgage Business, Fannie Mae. When her husband passed away at a young age, Katrina Jones was left to raise two kids, forcing her to drop out of college to confront her new responsibilities. It would prove to be the most challenging time of her life. What kept Jones going was not just the support she got from her extended family but lessons from her grandfather, a street-smart hustler named George Carter. Born on a plantation in 1990, Carter was the son of a former slave who knew he was destined for something bigger. So he dropped out of school at age 12 and ran away from home to Washington D.C., determined to make a life for himself. Strong-willed and stubborn, Carter slept on streets and did a bunch of odd jobs and side hustles, hauling trash and fixing stoops, convincing people to take a chance on him. Unbathed and unkempt as he was, many turned him away. But others gave him a shot. Little by little, Carter put away the dough to start buying property. His first parcel of land was in Arlington, Virginia, bought for $175, mortgage payment of about $10 a month. Not knowing how to read or write, he signed for it with an X, proud to be able to give his young wife, the woman of his dreams, the home she wanted to raise her family. “There was nothing traditional about that house, five doors, more than 30 windows,” remembers Jones with a laugh, “There were always two kitchens, one upstairs for the winter and one downstairs for the summer. No central air conditioning. Windows were just open, put in a screen with some netting. It was just what we called, that's a scrappy house to go with the scrappy gentleman, who managed to fulfill his wife's dream of creating a home in Arlington where she could raise her family.” Over the decades, quietly and confidently, Carter acquired property, lot after lot — bought or a relative pittance by today’s housing prices — working his street hustles and sweat equity. Today those lots are worth millions. For Jones, it was entirely accidental that she ended up in the housing business. But it’s only made her appreciate even more the priceless legacy her late grandfather left for his family. A recent Forbes piece says a lack of home equity in black families is one big reason for the racial wealth gap between blacks and whites, analyzing 2016 data. “African-Americans on average had home equity of less than $12,000 in September. White households in comparison had average home equity of almost $189,000 then,” wrote author Christian Weller. “Black households on average own only about six percent the housing wealth of white households.” Today, Millennials are also struggling with many challenges with homeownership, including lack of savings, debt, and lack of affordable housing. “I think the way people live is changing, where they want to live is changing, how they want to live is changing and our industry needs a bit of re-imagining to consider, how do we meet the needs of today's generation of future homeowners and tomorrow in a new, different way,” says Jones. “Hopefully we figure that out, but I think affordable housing is a big challenge for us right now. I see it play out in my own family.” Tanscript Download the PDF Chitra Ragavan:   When Katrina Jones' husband passed away at a young age, she was left to raise two kids on her own, forcing her to drop out of college to confront her new responsibilities. Today's Leading In Color episode guest is Katrina Jones.  Katrina Jones is the head of diversity and inclusion for a major tech company headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her area of expertise and passion is in developing workplace solutions that increase organizational effectiveness, boost employee engagement, and contribute to a more equitable and inclusive work environment.  Katrina previously served as the HR and diversity lead at Vimeo, creating the company’s first-ever diversity strategy and plan to disrupt bias. She has also worked in a number of inclusion and diversity, and HR roles, with multinational companies, across industries.  Katrina holds an MA in Human Resource Management from The Catholic University of America. Here are the takeaways from this interview with Katrina:  HR vs DE&I … Organizations have to determine where diversity, equity and inclusion are best advocated for. Sometimes HR cannot be that place either because we’re too transactional or because we are too rigid and risk averse to be the disruptors needed to make the shift. Ultimately, HR needs to see DE&I as a complementary area of our overall work and focus on ways to collaborate until we call all live under the same umbrella.    DE&I-Q and EQ … Similar to what Dr Conrad said in Episode 11, Katrina talks about that need to increase your DE&I-Q and your EQ at the same time. She highlights the importance of recognizing this is something that is going to take a good amount of time and effort. Confronting and unlearning our bias is not an overnight process. We cannot expect views that we’ve developed over a lifetime to disappear after one seminar. Katrina highlighted the work of White Men as Full Diversity Partners as a worthwhile resource.    Please connect with Katrina on Twitter @Katrina_HRM  and on LinkedIn at “Katrina Jones"   I also hope you will connect with Leading in Color at @leadingincolorpodcast on FB and Instagram and @leadingincolor on Twitter. In this episode of Leveraged Lifestyle Catherine announces her new publish day of Fridays. This includes a double episode this week alongside lots of competitions and prizes to get involved in!   Also discussed in this episode is how you can use a wheel of life to organise your time effectively. This is so that all of the important personal areas of your life are being paid attention to in the correct amounts as well as your professional life too.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Take learnings from life and listen to when you need to just slow down or take a break. I’ve recently recorded an interview with Katrina Jones which is a fantastic episodes focused around how she built her business hand free. Check it out if you haven’t already, it’s definitely worth listening to. Create a 0 base for your working week and your life so you know whether you’re on the right track. A wheel of life can help you to organise your week well: The wheel is made up of 8 important areas of your life. If you want to include business in your wheel, then this should go very last. Ask yourself what it would look like if all of these 8 areas were working well or looked really good to you. Make it really personal to you. Using your wheel, take your week/month view of your personal life, book it all into your calendar then arrange your business segment of your wheel in. If you find that you’ve only got, for example 5 hours a day, to focus on your business then at least you know they should be the most productive hours. Which will help you feel fulfilled and nourished. We’re changing the release days of this podcast to Friday mornings (Thursday’s midnight). This week we will be having 2 episodes to celebrate the 1-year birthday of this podcast! There will be competitions and prizes in the next few weeks to celebrate, so make sure you’re in the Leveraged Lifestyle community to join in!   BEST MOMENTS ‘Life definitely has a way of telling you to slow down, that’s for sure.’ ‘If you’re not earning you’re learning.’ ‘Business will go through peaks and tofts and so will your involvement.’ ‘You should be working ON your business not IN your business.’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Katrinajones.uk The Leveraged Lifestyle Podcast Leveraged Lifestyle Community: bit.ly/llocfbgroup www.theviva.club LLOM - Life Leverage Online Masterclass bit.ly/ctfbgroup https://www.turnerinvest.co.uk/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGS2wM9QEqg Ideal Media: www.ideal-collective.com/socialagency Women Building Wealth Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/993747404052781/ Laura Wright - Travel Counsellors: https://www.facebook.com/Laura.Wright.TravelCounsellors/     ABOUT THE HOST Catherine Turner Catherine is an iTunes No.1 podcast host of Leveraged Lifestyle, entrepreneur, businesswoman, an Inspirational Speaker, world record holder, Co-Director of Ideal-Collective.com and a mum of 2! Growth Never Happens Inside Your Comfort Zone – with Katrina Jones Over the last five years, Katrina Jones has built a multi-million-pound property business and now devotes herself to educating others in the rent-to-rent HMO strategy in particular.  Katrina has built her success by constantly learning, adopting a unique mindset, coaching others, and most importantly, by using the power of leverage to achieve her goals in not just business, but life.  Join Catherine and Katrina for this special episode, delving into the many shared insights and the vast array of knowledge they’ve both accumulated through their remarkably similar journeys. KEY TAKEAWAYS Upon returning from a successful, but an overwhelmingly full-time career in Australia, Katrina decided to begin a new path in property, specifically Rent-To-Rent HMO, and devoted herself to learning the many strategies involved. After founding Kendall Bailey, an entirely Rent-To-Rent business, she suddenly discovered that she was again working an overwhelmingly full-time job. It was then that she discovered the power of leverage. By systemising the company and hiring the right team, Katrina found that she could become more hands-off, while still watching as the company flourished and grew on its own. This has allowed her to set up Kendall Bailey Education, and take more of an advisory role. Establishing clarity on why you are setting out on an entrepreneurial journey is paramount in Katrina’s view, as well as where you want to take it. Achieving anything takes time and energy, and by identifying our goals and reasons clearly, we can make sure we don’t waste any of that precious energy. Having a mentor and providing yourself with the right education is another key factor in achieving growth. It’s vital that you understand the business model and investment strategy you’re about to use. If you don’t then you’re essentially wasting time and money. A mentor can be there to offer guidance, wisdom, and reassurance through the tough times. Growth never happens inside your comfort zone. Katrina’s success did not come from playing it safe or never chasing her ambitions. Despite suffering from anxiety, Katrina determined to push through and turned a potentially terrifying new career in face-to-face sales into a lesson in facing her fears. When it comes to speaking to agents, remember that the person on the other end of the phone has no idea what you are supposed to say. There is no wrong script. You can even practice on agents in different areas until you build your confidence. Hiring team members to run her business on her behalf took a great deal of soul-searching, but Katrina came to the realisation that hiring those with higher skillsets was born out of recognising her own strengths, and not pretending that her weaknesses were also her strengths. As Katrina says, “The smartest people hire those who are even smarter”. A business will never be hands-free for you if you’re the smartest person there. When you’re interviewing, use your instincts and your common sense to determine if your candidate is the type of person who’ll be taking your knowledge and setting up for themselves. It’s very rare for this to happen, and requires a certain type of person. You can also make your decision based on asking what the person wants long term from your company, and by looking at their work history.  Entrepreneurs often feel as if those closest to us, such as parents, are filled with negativity regarding our chosen vocation in life. But quite often, if we look properly, we can see that their concerns come from a place of love and care. It’s only right that a parent should be concerned that we are taking financial risks. Try to see their point of view. Another way of dealing with the doubts of others is to use that energy to spur yourself on to succeed. Prove the doubters wrong. Be inspired by the doubts of others. Surround yourself with people who have achieved things, and feed from that energy. Not only is it okay not to be the best at everything, it’s impossible for it be any other way. For every strength there will always be a weakness, and it’s important to be brutally honest with yourself about what those weaknesses are. Work on your strengths and find someone else to work on the things you’re weak at. BEST MOMENTS ‘If you don’t know why or where you’re going, then it’s like getting on a bus with no destination. It’s a waste of time’ ‘It takes a lot of energy and focus to really create something incredible’ ‘It’s self-sabotage to try and do it on your own’ ‘If you are unaware of the things a mentor can teach you, then it’s a thousand times more important to get one’ ‘Growth never happens inside your comfort zone’ ‘The smartest people hire people who are smarter than them’ ‘You have to do it to go through it’ ‘If you’re networking and you’re the smartest person in the room, then you’re in the wrong room’ ‘Don’t stop people from doing what they’re doing, just because you can’t do it’ ‘I don’t have any ego around holding up my hands and saying that I’m an awful manager. Because I’m just too nice!’    VALUABLE RESOURCES   The Leveraged Lifestyle Podcast www.katrinajones.uk Kendall Bailey – Rent-To-Rent Academy Katrina Jones – Facebook Katrina Jones - Instagram   ABOUT THE GUEST   Katrina Jones is the Director of Kendall Bailey and Kendall Bailey Education.  Since founding her Rent-to-Rent HMO business over five years ago, Katrina has built a million-pound business and property portfolio following her arrival home in the UK after a five-year career as an award-winning international Sales & Marketing Manager in Australia.   ABOUT THE HOST Catherine is an iTunes No.1 podcast host of Leveraged Lifestyle, entrepreneur, businesswoman, an Inspirational Speaker, world record holder, Co-Director of Ideal-Collective.com and a mum of 2! Join us today as we discuss the topic of Emotional Balance and Mindfulness. Mindfulness is the ability and desire to consciously and deliberately take in the essence of the words being formed in your mind. It is the willingness to understand the intention behind the words being formed, and the choice to change unhealthy thinking when required. Feelings allow us to express ourselves in ways that our brains cannot understand. The ability to think with your head and feel with your heart is truly a measure of balance. Once we can feel with our heart, think from our head, and understand the difference, we will gain better control over the thoughts we choose to think. With control and mindfulness, we can learn how to open our hearts when the need to express emotions arises, and think with our heads when appropriate and know the difference.
