Tge ch'ils umans pon emprender dals chavals – quai mussan ils «Cuntrasts» en il film «Dialog tranter uman e chaval» dad Isabelle Jaeger.
Episode SummaryErin and Rachel travel 700 years into the future to discuss WALL-E (2008), Pixar's robot romance with an unintentionally anti-capitalist message. Fatphobia and misogyny make this dystopian tale unwatchable despite its endearing protagonist, striking animation, and moments of nostalgia. Episode BibliographyThe 81st Academy Awards | 2009. Did you know that the New England Patriots were not the first NFL team in New England? Back in the mid 1920's an NFL franchise existed in Providence, R.I, for over half a decade. The Providence Steamroller won the NFL championship in 1928! In this episode, I visit with author, sports historian and researcher Greg Tranter as we discuss his book about the Steamroller franchise.
We welcome pro football historian (and Buffalo Bills memorabilia patron) Greg Tranter ("The Providence Steam Roller: New England's First NFL Team") to our microphones this week for a look back at the oft-forgotten Providence Steam Roller - which competed in the early-days National Football League from 1925-31. Based in Providence, RI, the Steam Roller holds a unique place in gridiron history as the first and only team from the Ocean State to win an NFL championship. The team's unusual name reflected the industrial character of the region and was derived from a local steamroller manufacturer. The Steam Roller played their home games primarily at the Cycledrome, an outdoor stadium primarily designed for bicycle races, which provided a distinctive playing venue. In inclement weather, the team occasionally used the Providence Auditorium, making them one of the few teams to ever host an indoor NFL game. The club was renowned for its tough, physical play -especially in 1928 when, under the leadership of player/coach Jimmy Conzelman, the Steam Roller achieved its greatest success by winning a closely contested (and ultimately board room-decided) NFL title over the Frankford (PA) Yellow Jackets. Despite their championship success, the Steam Roller struggled with the financial challenges common to early NFL teams, particularly during the Great Depression. In 1931, the franchise folded due to declining attendance and steepening losses at gate. Though short-lived, the Providence Steam Roller left a lasting legacy as a reminder of the NFL's early days, when the league was still establishing itself in small and mid-sized cities across the United States. + + + SUPPORT THE SHOW: Buy Us a Coffee: https://ko-fi.com/goodseatsstillavailable "Good Seats" Merch: https://www.teepublic.com/?ref_id=35106 SPONSOR THANKS (AND SUPPORT THE SHOW!): Royal Retros (10% off promo code: SEATS): https://www.503-sports.com?aff=2 Old School Shirts.com (10% off promo code: GOODSEATS) https://oldschoolshirts.com/goodseats Yinzylvania (20% off promo code: GOODSEATSSTILLAVAILABLE): https://yinzylvania.com/GOODSEATSSTILLAVAILABLE BUY THE BOOK (AND SUPPORT THE SHOW!): "The Providence Steam Roller: New England's First NFL Team" (2024): https://amzn.to/3ZVBTb9 FIND AND FOLLOW: Website: https://goodseatsstillavailable.com/ Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/goodseatsstillavailable.com Threads: https://www.threads.net/@goodseatsstillavailable X/Twitter: https://twitter.com/GoodSeatsStill Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goodseatsstillavailable/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GoodSeatsStillAvailable/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@goodseatsstillavailable

On this week's podcast, Dan analyzes Harris and Trump's Presidential Debate with Decision Desk HQ's Scott Tranter.
Trofeo Kima is a unique technical race in the beautiful Val Masino region of Italy, in the rough granite mountains not far from Lake Como. While I don't usually devote episodes to organised races, I think Kima justifies an exception, especially this year's race - in which I had a fantastic racing experience with none other than Jack Kuenzle. Jack is now a recurring character on the podcast, having shown up in Episode 21 to beat my Tranter's Round record, and again in Episode 38 when I got it back! Join Jack and I as we delve into a race analysis of our head to head 'duel' at the front of the race. We both managed to come in under the previous Kilian Jornet record time of 6hr9mins, with myself winning in 6hr5mins. Beating Kilian's record was a first for me, although not for Jack who has already achieved this with his Bob Graham Round record in 2022. The race is dedicated to the memory of Pierangelo Marchetti, nickname "Kima", who was a local mountain guide who died in 1994 during a rescue mission. His sister started the race in 1995 in tribute to him. For a visual on the terrain we are covering, see the great video by Julen Elorza featuring Hillary Gerardi (also featured in my Episode 18), La Gara: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CivvJNiHNnw Also the 2022 race highlights where you see a bit more of me, and my first win at Kima: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyzvgiOGHJg&t=584s
In this episode I read my article 'Competition as Catalyst: Beyond Racing on Tranter's Round' which was recently published in Like The Wind magazine #42. Tranter's round is a 60km round in the Lochaber hills, and my favourite round. I held the record for several years until Jack Kuenzle arrived from the USA and shaved around 15 minutes off in summer 2022. It may come as no surprise that I was keen to try and get the record back, which I did on 1st June this year.Myself and Jack have had an interesting friendship-rivalry since meeting in 2022, with him going on to gain the Bob Graham round record, and us meeting and skiing together in winter 2024. We also raced at Trofeo Kima in August, but that's for another discussion - next episode! For a detailed discussion about Jack's Tranter's record in 2022, listen to episode 21.My Tranter's run was one of my all time best days out, particularly in the latter stages, where I experienced a rare and near euphoric mind state. I highly value the way that running hard in the mountains can at times produce these special experiences.

Hello, Crime Family. Have a seat, and let's get into Episode 96.Frank Tranter was a 74-year-old retired man living in the Lion Farm Estate in West Midlands, England. His health was seriously failing him, he was nearly blind, and he lived alone in his semi-detached bungalow. All he wanted to do was listen to music and wave at his neighbors out the window. But, no. Along came a group of no-goods who had to take those little pleasures, and everything else, away from Frank. Our survivor this episode is Monti Niccolo, a 22-year-old who loved hunting, fishing, and California wilderness camping. Wilderness camping can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, but Monti did. He knew very well how to take care of himself. So when he came across two people who had deadly intentions, Monti had to call upon his will to survive. And survive, he did! My announcement in this episode is that I'm going to be releasing only one episode per month, because I just don't have enough time to research, write, record, edit, and produce more than that on top of my day job and my fixer-upper house. But if I find that i have the time, I will put out some extras now and then. Thank you for joining me here at the True Crime BnB, and I hope to see you back next time for Episode 97! ______Time Stamps:00:00:00 Intro00:01:29 Frank Tranter00:18:25 Survivor Monti Niccolo00:28:00 Wrap-up00:29:04 Outro0:29:09 Bloopers______Look for episodes from True Crime BnB monthly, maybe more.. . .If you enjoy the show, please share my episodes on social media--that's the greatest way to help me find new listeners.Another way is to rate and review on Apple Podcasts or GoodPods, or give me a 5-star rating on whatever platform you prefer!https://linktr.ee/TrueCrimeBnB?utm_source=linktree_profile_shareYou can find us on Instagram, X (Twitter), or Facebook @TrueCrimeBnBYou can send us an email at TrueCrimeBnBPod@gmail.comAnd lastly, thank all of you for just coming along to listen. We love to hear from listeners and contacting us is easy here. We offer these shows for free. If you think it's worthy of a small contribution, we sure would appreciate it. This is Episode 27 of Season 4. In it, Jec and I have a fun On the Fence conversation in which we talk some about identity and, mmm, maybe a bit of barn politics and shenanigans that we sometimes see in horse communities. The topic came up when I was listening to an interview that Ezra Klein did with Agnes Callard, a professor at the University of Chicago. Oh, and we also give a nod, or maybe a shake of the head, to the cover art for Beyonce's new country album, which has, of course, a horse on it. Thanks to our title sponsor, Lucerne Farms, producers of quality forage feeds, extremely handy and healthy bales of alfalfa, timothy, and grass blends. A great addition or substitute for your hay or grass and way better than grain. They also make products for your stalls and chickens. Also, a shout out to two clothing companies who are putting a trot in our steps lately: Kuhl and Dovetail. We're trying out a stretchy jean jacket as well as a fleece-lined vest from Kuhl. And we are absolutely loving the boot cut jeans from Dovetail. It's been a good season! We're one of the top horse podcasts and we consistently rank well in the natural sciences category of podcast. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm, for recommending us to friends, and for being in touch. Jec and I really love the many connections we've made with listeners and appreciate what we see as two-way conversations. Thank you! Thanks to Redmond Equine and Pharm Aloe – for generously sponsoring our podcast. Check out Pharm Aloe's aloe pellets which you can simply sprinkle on your horse's feed and Redmond's Rock on a Rope which you can simply hang on a fence. We think you'll love ‘em. Also thanks to Patagonia WorkWear for their continued support. Give us feedback, suggest a topic or guest, or make a donation and you'll be automatically entered to win one of two free Patagonia WorkWear items that we give away every month. Redmond Equine is sending a complimentary syringe of Daily Gold Stress Relief to everyone who drops a tip in our donation jar. Pretty cool and a $15 value. If you get something of value from our podcast, please consider making a donation. We sure would appreciate it.

On this week's Talkhouse Podcast, we've got a pair of multi-hyphenates who have recently joined music-world forces: Justin Tranter and Jake Wesley Rogers. Tranter first found music-biz fame with the band Semi-Precious Weapons, which had a decade-long run starting in 2004, and whose biggest claim to fame—besides their music itself—was opening for Lady Gaga's Monster Ball tour. But Tranter pivoted after Semi-Precious Weapons split up, and started writing songs for and with other artists—but not just any artists. Tranter has written for and/or with Justin Bieber, Imagine Dragons, Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani, and many, many more—chances are good you've heard a Justin Tranter composition on the radio, even if you didn't know it. Tranter has also written a bunch of songs for the upcoming Grease prequel series, Rise of the Pink Ladies, and seven songs on the brand-new album by the massive Italian band Måneskin. Tranter has also been an incredible activist in the LGBTQ+ community and beyond, and their next move is becoming, as you'll hear in this chat, a mogul. That's where the other half of today's Talkhouse Podcast comes into the picture: Jake Wesley Rogers recently signed on with Tranter's new record label, Facet, and the two have plans to conquer the world together—I wouldn't bet against them. Rogers is from a younger generation, having grown up with the instant gratification of social media. He even appeared on America's Got Talent at 15, and started writing songs even earlier than that. But Rogers really finds his voice with a couple of recent EPs, Pluto and Love. Tranter and Rogers also recently co-wrote a song called “Hindsight,” which plays over the end credits of Bros, the first gay rom-com ever released by a major studio—they talk about that here a bit as well. Check out that song below. In this conversation, Tranter and Rogers talk about their daily processes, including The Artists' Way, they talk about great pop songs, great middle school teachers, destroying the patriarchy, and the dangers and joys of social media. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Justin Tranter and Jake Wesley Rogers for chatting. If you like what you heard, please check out all the goodness on Talkhouse.com and subscribe to our weekly e-mail newsletter. This episode was produced by Myron Kaplan, and the Talkhouse theme is composed and performed by the Range. See you next time!
Over the course of the next 10 podcast episodes we will be revisiting some of our favorite podcast episodes on newborns in honor of those that have contributed to Kim's upcoming book on newborn sleep launching March 21st. Its available for pre-order here. In today's episode of The Gentle Parenting Show, Kim spoke with Dr. Maryanne Tranter, an expert pediatric nurse practitioner, researcher, and parent mentor. Dr. Tranter is the founder of The Healthy Child Concierge where she helps parents with their anxieties and worries for their children and works to resolve them. She has 25 years of experience in caring for families and also teaches nursing students, trains staff in pediatric offices and has executed hospital-wide staff education. Today, Kim and Dr. Tranter discuss colic and reflux (Dr. Tranter's speciality) and what those terms actually mean, and how you can find comfort and peace while your child is suffering with colic. Dr. Maryanne Tranter covers a lot of information with colic, specifically: What exactly colic is (this might surprise you!) Soothing techniques for calming colic 3 common causes of colic (and what to do about them) When to get help as a parent dealing with colic Our favorite quote from this episode with Dr. Tranter was “you are not alone, there are people that want to support you, to get to the bottom of this, there are other parents going through this as well.” and “using these tools to decrease crying, to give babies rest and peace, to give parents rest and peace, while you're working through getting to the root of the problem, these all can work together to help soothe the baby and you.” Connect with Dr. Tranter If you liked hearing from Dr. Tranter, there's many ways to connect. Check out her website for many resources about colic and the newborn stage, or connect with her on Instagram or Facebook. Download her free handout about resources to calm your colic-y baby here.
