Meet Rev. Bill McDonald, a modern-day mystic and spiritual explorer whose life has been marked by extraordinary experiences and an unquenchable thirst for the unknown. Bill's transformative journey commenced with not just one, but three near-death experiences (NDEs) that bestowed upon him a profound connection with the realms beyond the ordinary. Through these glimpses into the ethereal, he gained insights into the intricate tapestry of existence that few have encountered. However, Bill's quest for enlightenment did not end there. Drawn by an invisible thread that tugged at his heart, he embarked on a pilgrimage of a lifetime—an odyssey that led him to the remote cave of Mahavatar Babaji. This legendary Himalayan sage said to be an immortal yogi and the guiding force behind many spiritual adepts, became the focal point of Bill's inner calling. With unswerving determination and the blessings of synchronicity, he traversed treacherous terrains and navigated the labyrinthine path to reach the cave where Mahavatar Babaji was believed to have meditated for centuries. Bill's narrative is a remarkable testament to the intertwining of spiritual resonance and human perseverance. His encounters with near-death realms and his relentless pursuit of the divine led him to the sacred sanctum where time seemed to dissolve. In this convergence of past lives and present purpose, Rev. Bill McDonald not only found solace for his soul but also discovered a new chapter of existence—one that resonates with the timeless wisdom of Mahavatar Babaji and the eternal currents that weave through all of creation. His journey invites us to contemplate the interplay between the tangible and the intangible, and to ponder the eternal question: What lies beyond the boundaries of our mortal perceptions? Meet Rev. Frances Fayden Rev. Frances Fayden is an Interfaith Minister, Author, Intuitive Energy Coach for Conscious Women Entrepreneurs, and the Magnify Your Miracles podcast host. A master intuitive healer and metaphysical coach, Frances is fluent in the language of the human energy field known as the chakra system and can quickly translate energetic information to help her clients heal & transform. In 2012, Frances had a profound encounter with Mother Mary, which changed the direction of her life and awakened her life's purpose. She has been channeling messages from Mother Mary ever since. She loves working with Highly Sensitive Souls who have a big vision and mission yet are seeking validation and personal guidance with their next steps. Frances says, “By incorporating Mother Mary's guidance along with feedback from your own energy field, and then applying the Universal Laws of Manifestation, miracles can occur.” She is the author of the books Meditation is Friendship with God and How to Recognize God. Her passion is connecting women to the unconditional love of the Divine and then teaching them how to magnify that connection, which is the key to Magnifying Your Miracles. Oh, my friend, I hope you take the time to listen to this whole conversation as energy is part of everything in your life. And I mean everything. You and I are made up of energy. Our thoughts, actions, feelings, emotions, and beliefs are all made of energy. Manifestation is really the divine process of taking thoughts, emotions, and beliefs (as you know, all energy) and creating a physical, tangible, material experience or reality (all energy). Trusting Your Energy First and foremost, you need to learn to trust your energy. This is not as easy as it sounds since so many of us are taught to override our feelings and intuition so that we can fit in, please others, or do the ‘right thing.' We learn early on to dismiss the messages from our own energy and body. Being a good steward of your energy and caring for yourself is not ‘woo-woo.' It's practical and can keep you healthy, vibrant, and grounded. It all starts with taking responsibility for your energy and the energy you are bringing into all aspects of your life. Taking Care of Your Energy Part of taking care of your energy is doing loving things for yourself, especially your body. You'll want to think about how you want to feel. If you're not sure what to do to take care of your energy, start with these three steps: Keep it simple - start with your body and ask yourself the following questions: ‘How does this experience, person, or situation make me feel? Do I feel better or worse? Journal and reflect on what you notice when you ask yourself these questions. Check in with yourself on an ongoing basis and ask yourself, ‘How did that feel?' You'll soon start to notice patterns. Your Chakras and Your Energy Think of your chakras (in Sanskrit, this is translated as your ‘energy wheels') as little databases. They are always recording information and storing what happened. This database can easily go offline (especially in our western, faced-paced society) when you feel angry, overwhelmed, stressed, or unsafe. One of the best ways to restore your life force energy and chakras is through forgiveness and making sure you feel safe (and be sure to put yourself on the top of the list of people to forgive). We Could All Lighten Up I don't know about you, but I easily get so serious about life. Rev. Frances talks all about the importance of lightening up. Bring in the element of fun and joy. An example might be pulling oracle cards for the new and full moon. Notice if these activities fill your bucket and nourish you; if so, keep adding energizing and revitalizing practices. Why Your Energy Matters The bottom line is that you want to make sure your energy rejuvenates you, not depletes you. This means keen attention and presence to how you're feeling. All is in your energy, and you're affected so much more than you might realize. Be sure to work on your level of presence and mindful awareness so you can begin to tune in and notice your energy and how to keep it healthy and clear. One of my favorite takeaways: Our spiritual path is learning how to honor our energy. If you take care of your energy, your energy will take care of you. To learn more about Rev. She is a gifted clairvoyant, spirit medium, channel, and quantum healing pioneer. Amirah's spiritual awakening was triggered after her father's divorce, life-threatening autoimmune disease, and death, all within a six-month period. It was further amplified with a near-death experience while traveling in Egypt when her gifts of psychic vision, channeling, and mediumship opened up. Amirah has a reputation for being a world-class psychic, mystic, and mentor with the honor of working with an international client list including Dubai Royals. She's the author of six books, including Manifesting Miracles 101, LOVE UP Your Life, and The Essential Guide To Spiritual Awakening. Key Takeaways: Rev. Amirah talks about what she calls “living a life of grief.” Rev. Amirah received a terrible diagnosis, where no hope was given to her by doctors which forced her into a journey seeking alternative solutions. Rev Amirah realized something was missing in her life that triggered the beginning of her spiritual path. Rev Amirah wanted to understand grief from an energetic point of view. Susan and Rev. Amirah talked about their experiences accompanying loved ones about to pass away. Rev. Amirah shares her near-death experience in Egypt. Your emotions are the only ones you need to learn how to manage and master. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. You can get comfortable with your dysfunction; awakening requires connecting with your emotions and learning to release them. Rev. Amirah talks about how she found her purpose in helping others but mainly in being in alignment with herself. Rev. When push comes to shove, what really matters most to you in this life? That may be the most important question any of us can ask ourselves. And getting the answer right may be more important than almost anything else on this side of the grave. My guest on this episode shares a perspective on what matters most that she's acquired from almost two decades on the front lines of end-of-life care. I think ALL of us need to hear what she has to say so we can evaluate and calibrate our priorities before the grim reaper comes a'calling. Fair warning: My guest's message to us is delivered in the context of stories from her experiences serving those who are dying. Some of her stories are inherently heartwarming, but one story in particular is harder to hear. I think BOTH kinds of stories are invaluable in their ability to help us truly and courageously confront our own Mortality so that we're motivated to live with guts, gusto, and abandon right NOW. So that we don't keep putting off the things that matter most until the ever-elusive "tomorrow." I personally hope that you'll tune into the full episode. This conversation impacted me deeply. But I wanted you to know in advance what to expect so you can make your own decision. Meet Rev. Dr. Nicole McDonald The Reverend Dr. Nicole McDonald is a native of Hampton, VA, and she's by far the most highly-educated guest I've ever had on this show. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master of Divinity degree, a Master of Science in Patient Counseling, and a Doctor of Ministry degree. Currently, Nicole is a PhD student in African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric. And somehow, in the midst of all of that academic work, Nicole was also able to serve as a hospice chaplain for 13 years--providing emotional and spiritual support to patients living with terminal illnesses. Today, she serves as a Bereavement Coordinator & Chaplain for Sentara Hospice in Newport News, VA. Nicole's degrees and experience certainly lend her a certain kind of credibility right out of the gate. But behind all of the impressive academic accomplishments and professional experience is a woman deeply interested in the human condition, in what it truly means to live and die well, in helping the dying transition well, and a woman deeply committed to not only imparting what she's learned to others but embodying it in her own life, too. And I think you'll agree that, in the final analysis, those qualities are a form of credibility that rival any other. Highlights From This Episode We hit on a lot of big topics in a relatively short conversation, including: The intrinsic value of every human life The surprising reality of how many “religious” people relate to Death The difference between a “good death” and a “bad death” You hardwired relationship between how we live and how we die How to be honest with ourselves about our health The importance of life insurance And what matters most in this life, in the final analysis: our relationships. According to Nicole, “Your relationships are your biggest asset, so treat them as such.” Making the Most of What Matters Most "Your relationships are your biggest asset, so treat them as such." That's how Nicole summed up the one thing that she hopes we take away from her Story and her experience. Our relationships are the most important thing in life and the only thing left when we die. You can envision your relationships as a series of concentric circles. Think of it as your Relationship Radar screen. At the very center is you. Circles closer to the center represent relationships that are more important to you, and circles farther from the center represent relationships that are less important to you, relatively speaking. Plot the initials of the person with whom you have your most important relationship on the first circle. For some of you, that will be a spouse or partner or maybe your closest friend. For others of you, that might be a parent or child. Whoever it is, though, force yourself to pick just one relationship for that first circle. Then, plot more initials on the other circles moving outward from the center, from more to less importance, relatively speaking. Next, consider the condition of the relationship that occupies the first circle on your Relationship Radar Screen. What shape is it in? Where is it thriving? Where is it languishing? And what can you do about it? Give this relationship absolute top priority in terms of how you focus your time, energy, and attention. Continue your evaluation of the relationships in each circle moving outward from there. What condition are they in, and what time, energy, and attention are you willing and able to give to those relationships? When it's our turn to die, it will be abundantly clear how well we tended to our most important relationships. We can't cram for that exam. We reap then what we're sowing today. Your relationships are your biggest asset. Are you treating them as such? Remember, you ARE going to die. But you're not dead yet. So get after it! I'd Love to Know… How did this episode impact your perspective on your relationships? Message me on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn @AndrewPettyCoach, or email me at andrew@digdeepwinbig.com. Our conversation today centers on the humility it takes to actually listen to a different perspective than your own. Maybe listening with an open mind is something we can practice. Rev. Terrance Thomas believes that God is on the side of the oppressed – those that experience injustice because of race, gender, or sexual orientation. Ultimately, though, he believes the pattern he’s seen in the scriptures: that God will step in to help/heal/bless AFTER we’ve gotten up ourselves. So, that’s what he encourages us to do first. Then there's the practice of Black joy and Hope as resistance. The whole idea of oppression is to keep people down. Meet Rev. Marian Edmonds-Allen. She is the executive director for Parity, a New York-based national nonprofit that works at the intersection of faith and LGBTQ+ concerns. She’s also the director of Blessed by Difference, a project that seeks to promote curious and collaborative bridging across the LGBTQ+ and faith divide. A longtime holy warrior against homelessness, Rev. Edmonds-Allen has served in many pastoral capacities, including church planting, parish ministry and chaplaincy. She is married, has four children, and is a passionate skier and outdoor enthusiast. She has paid a price for her controversial stances on LGBTQ+ issues, even losing her place in one seminary because of it, but Rev. Edmonds-Allen still tries to bring people together through what she calls “holy dialogue.” It’s the “curious and collaborative bridging” in which she helps the LGBTQ+ community find and build relationships with the faith community, based on common ground. “I’m seeing God at work in it,” she says. “Everyone’s a winner when people come together and share core to core.” Through her Good Samaritan-type efforts, members of the LGBTQ+ community are rediscovering their place in the church. Strangely enough, the COVID pandemic has helped. With people forced to quarantine and shelter in place because of the virus, many now interact with their churches online. What physically closed doors worldwide has figuratively opened doors previously shut to LGBTQ+ community members. “Some LGBT people feel really worried about walking through the doorway into a church,” she says. “But with now all these online services available and churches advertising what they offer in terms of services, LGBT people are now able to explore different faith settings and worship services and to find something that works for them.”
