Constantin Baack hat seit seiner Ernennung zum Vorstandsvorsitzenden des Hamburger Asset- und Investmentmanagers MPC Capital AG eine Doppelfunktion inne: Als CEO des an der Börse in Oslo gelisteten Schiffseigners MPC Container Ships ist er bereits zuvor für den Bereich Shipping verantwortlich gewesen. Im HANSA PODCAST spricht Baack darüber, mit welcher Visitenkarte er künftig zu welchen Anlässen arbeitet – ein Rückzug vom MPCC-Posten sei »nicht geplant« – und welche Pläne für das Unternehmen hat. Zum einen will MPC Capital nach der zuetzt erfolgten breiteren Aufstellung im Servicegeschäft – Stichwort technisches Shipmanagement und Zusammenlegung des Maklergeschäfts – dort weiter wachsen. Das betrifft dann nicht mehr nur die Containerschifffahrt, für die MPC bislang vorrangig bekannt war, sondern auch die Segmente Bulker, Tanker oder MPP. »Diese breitere Aufstellung ist sicherlich auch ein Indiz dafür, dass wir auch in diesen Bereichen Projekte entwickeln wollen«, sagt Baack. MPC Capital sei durchaus sehr daran interessiert, in anderen Schifffahrtssegmenten neue Investment-Plattformen aufzusetzen. MPCC soll sich zwar weiterhin auf das Eigentum an Containerschiffen fokussieren – der CEO spricht über Schiffstypen und -größen, Neubauten und Umbauten. Das heißt jedoch nicht, dass für andere Schiffstypen nicht eigene Plattformen aufgebaut werden könnten. Aber, so der CEO weiter, es kann dabei auch um andere Themen gehen, wie beispielsweise bei der schon existierenden MPC Energy Solutions, die für Solar- und Windenergie-Projekte aufgesetzt wurde. »Das können auch maritime Infrastrukturprojekte sein«, so Baack. MPC Capital sieht beispielsweise im Zuge der allgemein angestrebten Dekarbonisierung der Schifffahrt im Bereich Kraftstoff- und Bunkerinfrastruktur eine große Zukunft und einen »riesigen Investitionsbedarf.« Der neue Vorstandsvorsitzende erläutert detailliert die Beweggründe dafür. Man schaue sich einiges an, sehe sich sehr dafür gut aufgestellt, sei aber auch offen für Partnerschaften. Außerdem spricht Baack im Podcast über seine Erwartungen an Entwicklungen auf den Schifffahrtsmärkten: »Es gibt das Thema Flottenerneuerung und Altersstruktur und da muss man sehen, wie sich der Markt entwickelt. Es könnte in den nächsten drei bis fünf Jahren durchaus eine Situation mit zu wenigen kleineren Schiffen geben.« Es geht um Tonnage-Über- und potenzielle Unterkapazitäten sowie die MPC-Bewertungen von großen und verhältnismäßig kleinen Schiffen, einen sehr liquiden Chartermarkt, Neubauten und Umbauten. Er spricht über organisches Wachstum und potenzielle M&A-Aktivitäten, »Marktzugangs-« vs. Kostensynergien, Schiffskäufe und die Arbeit mit Linienreedereien, die eigentlich Charterkunden von Reedereien wie MPCC sind, aber zuletzt selbst viele viele neue Schiffe auf eigene Rechnung bestellt (und gekauft) haben. Auch auf Wachstumspläne im technischen Management und im Maklergeschäft sowie im »Renwables«-Geschäft geht er detailliert ein. Baack kommt nicht nicht zuletzt auf knapp 5 Milliarden Euro an »Assets under Management«, die Arbeit mit Investoren und Rendite-Erwartungen, Schulden und Investitionsfähigkeit, die Finanzplätze Norwegen und Deutschland sowie mögliche Strategien für neue Börsenplattformen von MPC zu sprechen.

Assam State Health Department has quarantined 400 people who came in touch with American tourist who tested positive for coronavirus in Bhutan. Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “State Health Dept has traced more than 400 contacts in different places including MV Mahabahu and resorts where he stayed. Teams of doctors and microbiologists have been keeping a close watch on these people who have been quarantined.” Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has urged the state government to seal Indo-Mayanmar border over coronavirus scare. The state shares 510 km unfenced border with Myanmar. MPCC said that people from neighbouring countries including China had entered the state without screening. Investigation agencies are now further trying to ascertain links between Priyanka Vadra of Congress and Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor after it was learned that the latter had bought MF Hussain painting worth Rs 2 cr from the Congress leader. Congress has said that the reports of the purchase were fully files in income tax documents of the Congress leader.Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate has taken custody of Kapoor until March 11. A patient who was admitted to district Wenclock hospital in Mangaluru has escaped from the hospital. According to reports, he had an argument with the staff during which he insisted that he was not infected with coronavirus. The patient who arrived there from Dubai was admitted to the hospital after showing some symptoms of the infection. He also had high fever. After he escaped from the hospital, a complaint against him has been lodged with the police. A high alert has also been sounded in nearby coastal districts after the incident. A 3-year-old child has tested positive for coronavirus in Kerala. The child and the parents had travel history to Italy, claim reports. The thermal screening being carried out at the airport had detected the infection for the child which was confirmed after tests. The child has been put under isolation at Ernakulam Medical College. The parents are also under observation, though the parents haven't shown any symptoms of fever, stated a press release. 98-year-old Karthiani Amma honoured with Nari Shakti Puraskar, 2019 event at President House, here in New Delhi on Sunday expressed her wish to study further.“I cleared Class 4 exams recently, now I want to study further,” Ms Karthiani told PM. She had come to Delhi to collect the award. Karthyayini Amma scored a 30 on 30 for her reading test, 40 on 40 for Malayalam writing and 28 on 30 for Mathematics. She started her academic journey January 2018 after working very very hard in her life to take care of herself and her family. Bhageerathi Amma, a 105-year-old achiever from Kerala could not come to receive her awards. Both the super grannies have passed the Class IV literacy equivalent examinations.
