Pluto, the “Lord of the Underworld,” was discovered on February 18, 1930 and announced publicly on March 13 of that year. While the exact dates are of limited importance in our work, Pluto's discovery itself was momentous. From the astrological perspective, it marks nothing less than the collective human discovery of the unconscious mind. In essence, with the discovery of Pluto, we are talking about the birth of psychology as part of the human conversation. As ever, with massive astrological changes such as this one, it's helpful to take a long-term perspective. Uranus was discovered in 1789 – and marked the (very Uranian) overthrow of the rule of kings along with the birth of scientific inquiry, even when it violated religious dogma. That didn't happen on a single day! Similarly, Neptune was discovered in 1848 and it marked a massive change in the scope of human imagination and human spirituality – again, that's something we can see clearly in retrospect, but not something that happened the very minute Neptune was found. In exactly the same fashion, the human discovery of the true extent of our inner world – our Plutonian unconscious mind – unfolded over a generation or two. Still, the astrological signature of the event itself dates to the physical discovery of Pluto back almost a hundred years ago. Listen In...

In this episode, we explore herbs, flower essences, and homeopathy through a shamanic lens with celebrated herbalist, author, and teacher Matthew Wood. He's been a practitioner of these modalities for forty-five years and teaches at the Matthew Wood Institute of Herbalism. Matt shares stories from his life's journey with the plants and from his most recent book, A Shamanic Herbal - Plant Teachers and Animal Medicine. JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN @ KARMIC EVOLUTION DOT COM FOR THIS WEEK'S “KARMIC EVOLUTION'S ASTROLOGICALLY SPEAKING PODCAST which discusses how this month's lunar cycle & America's Pluto Return have revealed America's shadow side energies…Do the results of the November 5 U.S. presidential election—which occurred during the early waxing period of November 1's Scorpio New Moon—prove that America's projections onto winner Donald Trump represent America's Pluto Return, a time of the death of democracy to be followed by some kind of rebirth? This podcast examines the journey of America's Pluto return, which technically began when transiting Pluto came within a degree of its natal 2nd House place at 27-degrees 33-minutes of Capricorn on May 21, 2021. This followed the January 6, 2021, storming of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., which marks the beginning of America's transformation. We explore the history of the birth of America through the lens of the beginning of the Revolutionary War—fought for freedom from the tyranny of the British monarchy/king--& the U.S. Sibly chart's July 4, 1775, Declaration of Independence.Along the way we discuss how this recent election has thrust a large portion of the American population into shock & disbelief of the PTSD kind. And how, given Pluto's archetypal association with the necessity of a breakdown in order to breakthrough--or the alchemical process of death leading to rebirth—we are in the first stages of dealing with the potential death of democracy. We explore too Carl Jung's definition of the Plutonian alchemical process which begins by consciously recognizing our shadow projections. Often a shocking revelation, this provokes the break down all the way through to until we reach the stage of of individuation & ultimately what Jung called “authentic personification.” That means engaging in the process of becoming--then ultimately BEING--who we really came here to be.This process is neither easy nor painless, as history has already proven. And it's often change that begets more change. That is what revolutions are born from. People take the streets when their lives are personally impacted. As Saturn stations direct once again on November 15—the same day of the Taurus Full Moon which aligns itself with Uranus retrograde in Taurus (signifying a sudden potential change of heart) & opposes the Scorpio Sun—will we eventually recognize the need to release this shadow side energy? Or will circumstances have to get far worse as the shadow energy expands until some kind of future action is taken? We are in the period of the birth of America, which spanned from 1775 to 1789 during which period a war was fought, independence was gained, a Constitution written, a president inaugurated, and a justice system incorporated through the seating of a Supreme Court. In essence, if history is our guide, America's Pluto return has just begun. When transiting Uranus moves into Gemini July 7, 2025, & begins to conjoin its natal place at 8-degrees 55-minutes of Gemini in the U.S. Sibly chart in 2027, history has proved the U.S. tends to enter wars. First, of course, the American Revolution; second, the American Civil War; and third, World War II. These have tended to occur as each 84-year cycle of Uranus ended and a new one began. This podcast reminds us all that America has shown its true face: that of indifference to the inequities inherent in its democratic system of governance. Racism, misogyny, & xenophobia are not new here. They have simply been hidden from view all this time within the mainstream of society. This current Pluto Return is bringing these hidden shadow energies to the forefront & revealing them for all to see. So, when a deportation crew comes for our neighbor, will we remain silent? When they come for our teachers & librarians will we remain silent? When they come for our governor or senator or representative, will we remain silent? And when they then come for YOUR undocumented spouse, will YOU remain silent? When they come for your Arab-American son-in-law, will you remain silent? And when they come for YOU, who will be left? And so it goes, as history repeats itself—or at least rhymes--over and over and over again. While initially shocking & depressing for many of us, this recent election will undoubtedly spark change--possibly through a societal revolution that leads to war, if that is the only way to effect long-term future change. That's Pluto, my friends…And while that may seem to some far-fetched and to others far off, the seeds have been planted and it's this Scorpio monthly lunar cycle that cries out to us to plant the seeds that help us recognize the TRUTH about what America has become. And the November 15 Taurus New Moon--since our shadows have now been revealed--will beg us to jettison our previously hidden hatreds, jealousies, & perceived need for revenge & retribution against “THEM.” Because as Walt Kelly's character Pogo the possum revealed long ago: “We have met the enemy, and he is US.”Listen to more Astro News You Can Us in this week's podcast @ KARMIC EVOLUTION DOT COM which drops today November 8 at 11 a.m. PT & 2 p.m. ET! This episode picks up with Hercules having completed the fourth labour; bringing back the Erymanthian Boar. Along the way he had opened up a long-sealed jar of Dionysian Wine and brought a chaotic wildness back into the world. In this episode we join him as he's tasked with clearing out the Augean Stables in a single day. King Augeus has been extremely lucky in his wealth creation. He has an abundance of cattle and sheep. The flipside being that he's neglected the maintenance such wealth necessitates and the stables are now... how to say... full of shit. Hercules opens up two nearby rivers to cleanse the stables, thus achieving his task in, miraculously, under the required time. Both the stables and the cleansing of them are collective images for outer and inner processes of which we can all relate. What do we do when our minds are clogged and we can't think straight? What do we do collectively when the systems we've created have become old and tired but are deeply entrenched? With Pluto stationing direct in the last degree of Capricorn today, getting ready to enter Aquarius for the final time, this myth that brings forth the image of the water bearer and the 'Plutonian shit' couldn't be more timely and appropriate. The episode finishes with the sixth labour - the Stymphalian Birds - which closes out the first six labours. These are the 'local' labours that all take place within the Peloponnese. It's the completion of Hercules' 'internal' tasks and prepares him for his place in the world. On October 11, Pluto makes a station, turns around, and heads for the Aquarian frontier for the last time. As you probably know, it's been toggling between retrograde and direct motion while straddling the Aquarian cusp for quite a while. It was in Aquarius for ten weeks back in the middle of 2023 and returned to Aquarius a second time between January and September 1st of this year. That's the day it re-entered Capricorn for a final time. After making its station this month, Pluto turns direct and arrives solidly in Aquarius five weeks later, entering it on November 19th where it will remain for the next nineteen years. As ever, when a planet makes a station – in other words, stands still, about to turn retrograde or direct – its energies become very focussed and intensified. For that reason alone, October promises to be a very Plutonian month. On top of that, when a planet is the final degree of a sign – often called the anaretic degree – there's an underlying sense of urgency to it. When you were in school, remember the way you felt the night before final exams? When it comes to studying, that meant it was now or never. That's the feeling of an anaretic degree. With Pluto making its station in 29 degrees 38 minutes of Capricorn, we're all in exactly that position – here comes our final exam. This event isn't just about “history” happening – it will have personal meaning for you too. Everything in the sky does. But everyone on Earth will be experiencing this radical intensification of Plutonian energy simultaneously. In other words, it's not like a transit that hits one person very directly and misses someone else. This one is for everybody. As always, some of us will do well with it and some of us will do poorly. If “poorly” wins, it bodes ill for the whole planet. Don't despair – surrendering to despair is simply one of the soul-cages dark Pluto offers everyone. Listen in ...

Pluto starts its annual retrograde from May 2nd to October 12th, 2024. It's not as frightful as a more personal planet moving retrograde, such as Mercury, Venus or Mars, where the impacts are gripping and high speed. Still, Pluto, the planet of the underworld, tends to bring forth the experience of shadows more intensely. This heaviness looms like a cloud, challenging you to grow through the struggle. This years 5 shadows of Pluto's retrograde are: Hyperactivity Escapism Closed Circuit Mindedness Rigidity Withdrawal With each shadow comes a positive, developmental lesson that offers you power to annihilate problems in a truly Plutonian way. Listen to the end to discover what each of the 5 shadows can be elevated to, in order to enrich your experience more. Charly

Welcome to 2024's first episode of 'Astrology Talk Investigates!'In this episode, hosts Sally Kirkman and Christina Rodenbeck discuss the question, ‘What does Frankenstein tell us about the future now? Hmm, you might be thinking, ‘what can we learn from a book written over 200 years ago?', but few works have had the lasting impact of Mary Shelley's gothic masterpiece, Frankenstein. A product of its author's profound imagination, the novel not only offers a cornerstone of English literature but also proves itself as an enduring astrological marvel. Mary Shelley, a woman deeply interconnected with the intellectual and philosophical movements of her time, was born under a very distinctive astrological sky. Notably, her birth chart features Pluto at 29 degrees Aquarius on the midheaven, a placement that has resurfaced in contemporary times, echoing the resonant themes of her work in current times. Understanding the influence of Pluto, known in astrology for its association with transformation, death, rebirth, and the deeper shadowy facets of existence, is pivotal to grasping the relevance of Mary Shelley's life and her iconic creation. Her story was penned during a period when Pluto last journeyed through Aquarius. Much like Shelley's era, we find ourselves now on the cusp of another Plutonian era in Aquarius, igniting discussions on the recurrent themes of innovation and the potential hazards they present to mankind. This episode is another insightful trip analysing a topic through the lens of the stars - happy listening! Today I'm joined by Aubrey and Rose to chat all about Pluto and shadow via their brand new oracle deck. Author/illustrator duo Aubrey Houdeshell (@thegraveyardroses) and Rose Ides (@mothertao) are the creators of the recently-published deck The Oracle of Pluto, a dreamy 55-card oracle deck that guides readers through the foundations and rituals of shadow work, a spiritual practice long-associated with Plutonian archetypes—the unconscious self, rebirth, and transformation—to harness the cosmic insights of Pluto. The playful, psychedelic illustrations are meant to situate users in the transformative magic of Pluto, and representations of the planet's many archetypes as shadow puppets infuse the deck with a whimsicality that counterbalances the intensity of the practice. Perfect for seekers of all kinds, The Oracle of Pluto celebrates the impressive insight that the dwarf planet provides in navigating life's deepest questions. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/witch-wednesdays/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/witch-wednesdays/support

Debra is joined by Kilkenny Tremblay, Yoga and Meditation professor and host of Modern Mystic Podcast, who in addition to being a lifelong lover of meditation, yoga, and other spiritual teachings, is an alumni of Debra's Applied Astrology school. Kilkenny and Debra discuss how meditation is a dynamic practice, not a one-size-fits-all approach. Debra sheds light on a part of Kilkenny's Astrological chart that countless other professional Astrologers have seemed to avoid, making Kilkenny's point of how solid Debra's approach and Astrological method is, and how Astrology terminology will soon be as fluent to the masses as yoga has become. The history and dynamics of Pluto are highlighted, bridging the connection between Kilkenny's intense passion for life and her work, and her ability to speak to the seen and unseen, the magical and the mundane. Here's your chance to learn about the influence of Pluto in Astrology and update your perspective on why meditation is so powerful. Plus you'll hear tips on how to integrate meditation fully into your life, and if you have children, how to get them interested, too! How to walk the path of the mystic and tune into higher knowledge. Podcast guest Paul Selig says he has no advice for our listeners, yet his presence and his life's work shows us the importance of opening ourselves up to a higher power. Paul Selig is one of the foremost contributors to the field of channeled literature, after a spiritual experience in 1987 left him clairvoyant. He attended New York University and earned a master's from Yale. He is the author of Beyond the Known: Realization and The Book of Innocence. As a double Scorpio personality with a prevalent Virgo energy in his chart, the richness and depth of Paul's work and his loyalty to the purity of his path is impressive. Paul takes Debra through his journey to walking the path of the mystic, which admittedly began with resistance and a skeptic eye towards mysticism and his lifestyle was not in alignment with that path. Paul then experienced a series of events which led him to this new path, which would change the course of his life entirely. Paul also shares about his first Astrological experience and as Debra walks through components of his chart, Paul connects them to avenues and events within his life. We are deep in eclipse season, and that means emotions are running deep and high! This week is very Plutonian with both a Mercury and a Sun Square to Pluto. This is a time that can bring out the worst in us if we do not tap into emotional nuance.
This week, we're taking a look at the Sun's movements through the Zodiac. It's a busy few days for the daytime luminary, as it makes its way through the final degrees of Virgo, meeting up with Neptune and Pluto along the way, and then heading into the sign of Libra. It's not the most challenging week for the Sun, but it's not the easiest breeziest one either. We'll explore the differences between a Neptunian influence and a Plutonian one, and how that might manifest here on Earth. Plus, we'll take a brief look at how Neptune and Pluto are interacting with each other currently and in the years to come. On May 1, 2023, Pluto stationed retrograde and will move back into the sign of Capricorn until it re-enters Aquarius again in January of 2024. Retrograde planets indicate periods of review: we move backwards to reclaim, remember, and revise the themes that the planet represents. In this case Plutonian themes include Power/power dynamics, sex, death, rebirth, money/taxes. We don't get a free pass at life. We are needed to engage our power, our genius, our particular uniqueness into the world. When this goes missing, we suffer. We experience depression, weakened life-force energy, and lack of will power. This is very human, and we all must contend with the forces inside us that may threaten our drive to thrive. This episode shines a light on why moving backwards is important, how reclaiming our power is necessary, and how we are all needed on the planet to keep things going in a good way on Earth. You can find me at www.juliabernbaum.com to learn more about Astrology readings, Life Coaching, Tarot readings, Yoga & Wellness consults. Take care out there, and continue to step bravely into all of who you are.

BOOK YOUR 2023 ASTROLOGY READING: www.jilljardineastrology.com/shopMAKE 2023 your most Prosperous Year Yet!SHIFT INTO PROSPERITY CONSCIOUSNESS for 2023! PROSPERITY PROGRAMMING. https://jilljardineastrology.com/prosperity-programming-sales-page/Pluto pushes forth into Aquarius on March 23, 2023! This outer planet movement is big astrological news, because during this 20 year transit, life as we know it will change. The last time Pluto transited Aquarius was from 1777-1798, which was the birth of America! Before Pluto becomes fully ensconced in Aquarius air space for 20 years, it will play ping pong back and forth between Aquarius and Capricorn until later in 2024. Here's the timing of Pluto's transit into Aquarius. The first phase occurs when Pluto enters the sign of Aquarius from March 23, 2023, to June 11, 2023. Then it will backtrack into Capricorn until January 22, 2024,when it shifts back into Aquarius until September 2, 2024. Back into Capricorn again until November 20, 2024, where it will platonically purge our world until March 9, 2043, at which point it will weave in and out of Aquarius and Pisces. March 24th 2023 to June 11th 2023,January 22nd 2024 to September 2nd 2024,November 20th 2024 to March 9th 2043September 2nd 2043 to January 19th 2044As astrologers we have seen this pivotal pending Plutonic purging for the past years, speculating on what will show up in our world! Well it's here and we can expect major changes in the world's power dynamics. On March 23, 2023, Pluto leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius, marking the beginning of the end of one of the most intense planetary cycles of the last decade when Pluto transited Capricorn, which brought us Economic down cycles in 2008 when it first shifted, again in 2016 and 2022. Pluto in Capricorn delivered a world Pandemic of Covid in 2020 and beyond, that changed life as we know it and many other Collective Karmic challenges since 2008!The last time Pluto passed through Aquarius was between 1777 -1798, a revolutionary and transformative period of time that changed the way the world viewed power, governments, money, and society as a whole. Pluto is the planet of transformation, and Aquarius is the sign of revolution. Pluto rules death, transformation and rebirth. If a person is hit with a Pluto transit, they will emerge as a different person. Perhaps they became ill, or lost someone close, or took a financial loss, or property loss. Pluto purges us until we are down to the basics and hopefully our ego was kicked to the curb. Pluto forces intense transformation. Not a simple change in how we look or who we hang out with, but a significant shift in our souls. He's is the planet of death, but also of rebirth. So can you imagine the whole world going through a Plutonian purging. That's what is about to happen starting in March 2023. This is an impactful transit, and everyone will feel it. What we can expect in those 20 years are: Worldwide changes in science, technology, and space travel. There will be a rise in humanitarianism, and taking care of the group. The day of the greedy megalomaniac is gone. You know, those kind of guys who were buying up all the planets seeds, or secretly launching the next big pandemic or global crisis, won't do well in this Pluto in Aquarius energy.

An examination of the waxing and waning influence of demoted planets• Explains in detail how the demotion or proved nonexistence of a planet marks the beginning of a roughly 30-year period in which that planet's influence wanes• Explores Pluto's arc of influence on individual and collective life in depth, from its discovery in 1930 to the end of its influence in 2036• Offers examples from other demoted planets, such as Ceres, whose fifty-year reign as a planet corresponds very closely to the Romantic Era of historyRecent research in astrology has shown that the discovery of a new planet correlates with the emergence of a new set of influences in individual and collective life. As John Michael Greer reveals, the opposite is also true: the demotion of a planet correlates with the decline of a set of influences into the background.Exploring the waxing and waning of planetary influences in astrology, Greer explains in detail how the demotion or proved nonexistence of a planet marks the beginning of a roughly 30-year period in which that planet's influence fades out. He examines several examples of planet demotion, including Ceres, whose influence began to take shape some 30 years before its discovery in 1801 and gradually faded over the three decades following its demotion in the 1850s.Examining Pluto's astrological influence in depth, from the beginning of the search for “Planet X” in 1900 to the end of its influence in 2036, the author shows how during the Plutonian era the concept of cosmos--from the ancient Greek meaning “that which is beautifully ordered”--was in eclipse. Pluto's influence led to the rejection of unity, beauty, and order, exemplified through the splitting of the atom by physicists, the splitting of the individual into conscious and subconscious halves by psychoanalysts, and the splitting of the world into warring camps by politicians.Offering an essential guide not only to the astrology of the future but also to the twilight of the Plutonian era, Greer shows how as Pluto's influence fades out in the years ahead, a great many disruptive phenomena of the recent past will fade with it.ohn Michael Greer is a writer, blogger, and independent scholar who has written more than 70 books, including The King in Orange, Circles of Power, and the award-winning New Encyclopedia of the Occult. A longtime student of astrology, he began working as a political astrologer in 2017. He lives in Rhode Island.
April leads off with the Virgo First Quarter Moon, the perfect opportunity for you to buckle down and make one of your Gemini New Moon ideas a reality. Mercury wraps up a series of aspects to no-nonsense, truth-telling Pluto. And a Venus-Uranus conjunction shakes up relationships, routines, and finances. This week's listener question invites April to address an imaginary writers' group about the ways astrologers are portrayed in films, tv shows, and books. Rather than the usual spooky mystic, April proposes a turban-optional, world-weary astrologer (NOT "astrologist"!) avatar. Plus: April's first job, Stevie Nicks' wardrobe, and could this imaginary writers' group hook April up with a discount at the local antiques store?/* If you're a fan of The Big Sky Astrology Podcast, you can show your support by subscribing/following wherever you listen to podcasts, leaving a rating or review, or recommending it to a friend! John Michael Greer is an American druid who has risen to become one of the most important esoteric scholars of our time. He is astonishingly prolific, having written over 70 books that explore a wide array of perspectives on ecological philosophy.JMG demonstrates the virtues of a truly independent mind, offering a syncretic perspective that explores the overlap between ecology, spirituality, and the future of industrial society.Though he's written many books on occultism, politics, and economics, I believe that his latest book, The Twilight of Pluto, is the most important astrology book published in over a decade. In The Twilight of Pluto, JMG offers something totally unique in terms of historical perspective, critique, and predictions for the future. The rich juices of astrology have been fermented into a fine wine, opening the senses to divine the shape of the world that is emerging from beneath Pluto's shadow. This book offers original insight and unique analysis of the time we are living in, which JMG describes as being the end of the Plutonian-era. (1900-2036)The Twilight of Pluto is first and foremost a history book, blossoming through an astrological lens to illuminate the evolution of human consciousness from the ancient world to the present Plutonian-era. You may imagine that diving into Pluto's influence over the last century might make for some very grim reading. But instead, this book is a page turning pleasure to read. JMG takes you on an adventure through time, fighting monstrous tragedy and absurdity with glinting humor and acerbic cultural critique. Even if you don't typically read astrology books, know that your interests in history, cultural criticism or ecological thought will be deeply nourished by The Twilight of Pluto. And if you are a student of astrology, The Twilight of Pluto is required reading. This is a mind-altering book that will expand your imagination of the cosmos forever. The Twilight of Pluto represents an evolutionary leap in the astrological conversation. That's why it was such an honor to have the opportunity to interview JMG. And of course, in addition to being a great writer, he's also a wonderful conversationalist. We touch on everything in The Twilight of Pluto and go off on many tangents including:Why art and architecture has become so uglyThe revival of mundane astrologyThe 2016 electionMass media manipulationWhy you should throw out your TVApocalypses US Pluto ReturnWhat the future looks like in the post-Plutonian eraBuy The Twilight of Pluto by John Michael GreerAnd you can read John Michael Greer's blog: https://www.ecosophia.net/Support the show
