She completed an internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis and a cardiology fellowship at U.T. Southwestern, with a focus in advanced cardiovascular imaging and noninvasive cardiology. Dr. Huff is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and was a private practice cardiologist in Fort Worth,Texas until 2011, when she became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her daughter. Dr. Huff speaks and writes frequently about her lived experience with benzodiazepines. In 2015, she experienced adverse effects after three weeks of prescribed Xanax for insomnia. Over a three-year period, she slowly tapered off benzodiazepines utilizing Valium, and suffered protracted and disabling symptoms. Her personal experience led her to realize the serious risks of these medications and the potential severity of benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome, neither of which were emphasized during her medical training. Dr. Huff specifically advocates for better education of physicians regarding the adverse effects of benzodiazepines and how to safely taper patients off these medications. Her research interests include patient-centered benzodiazepine deprescribing and benzodiazepine-induced neurological dysfunction (BIND). In addition to her work at BIC, Dr. Huff is a member of the Colorado Consortium for Prescription Drug Abuse's Benzodiazepine Action Work Group.

Black Spy Podcast - Season 3, Episode 0006 - Jill Street Drug worker Part 2 By popular demand, this week's episode of the Black Spy Podcast once again features Jill. As previously mentioned we've all heard of illegal 'drugs', many have tried them, experimented, abused and even enjoyed them. Governments have prohibited and outlawed them, and made efforts second only to combatting terrorism to stem the tide of them. Yet once again today's guest, who dealt with the street consequences of drugs, be they prescribed or illegal, provides The consequences of drug addicted on families, drug education, drug legalisation, alcoholism, prescription drug abuse and street dealers vs Mr Big. a deep and thoughtful evaluation of how she sees the problem. Once again, in this episode, Jill doesn't attempt to hide or perfume events. As we said previously, Jill clarified: there was nothing fluffy about how I went about my activities as a drugs worker. We further discussed the street economics and entrepreneurial opportunities of street dealing. The bitter, nasty and remorseless violence that the drugs trade often brings is also dissected. Carlton also poses the question of the ethics of police action in the so called war on drugs with there seemingly being one rule for the poor and another for the rich, powerful and the well placed. I’ve never met a parent who wants their child to become a drug or alcohol addict. In fact, most parents work hard to keep their kids from substance abuse and all the dangers it brings. We applaud ourselves when our kids choose not to abuse alcohol or other drugs like meth, heroin, or marijuana. But have you thought lately about the trend towards the abuse of prescription drugs? The abuse of stuff that can be found in the family medicine cabinet has been on the rise for years.  Nearly one in five teens admits to abusing medications that are not prescribed to him or her. Experts advise you to look for these signs of prescription drug abuse: a change in sleep habits, a change in energy level, a change in personal hygiene, a change in mood or personality, a sudden change in grades, a change in their circle of friends, the loss of appetite, and constricted eye-pupils. Parents, monitor your teenagers and their friends. Your commitment to keeping them off drugs will protect them from hurting themselves in long-lasting ways.

When choosing a drug abuse treatment center, patients need to be aware of the different options available. They should look for a center that is local, is highly recommended by family and friends, and that offers a choice of treatment programs and medications. Once a patient has found the treatment program that they prefer, it is important that they make sure that the medication they are given is safe.In the case of an addict who is in treatment at a drug abuse treatment center, one of the biggest changes that occurs is that the person comes to realize that they have a disease that they cannot evade. The physical and mental symptoms that an addict is having, and the dependency that results from abusing the drugs, all lead to their being overwhelmed by the disease.Of course, the addict is not the only one to suffer the debilitating effects of an addictive disease. It is important that anyone who suffers from drug addiction seek out help for their addiction, but even so, it is important that patients treat the disease for what it is - a disease that cannot be treated lightly or with only prescribed medications.Surrounding Areas for Prescription Drug Abuse Treatment in Delray FLhttps://goo.gl/maps/4iFRDB8dN26M4i3n9https://goo.gl/maps/MmMn7U5NaJwgUL9C8https://goo.gl/maps/7ELnuNUuFvCcPpiS8https://t.co/nm9TqxP4dF?amp=1https://t.co/o9yM9AgJ2a?amp=1https://t.co/OyKNWQTisQ?amp=1https://earth.google.com/web/data=Mj8KPQo7CiExMDNYMGJLVHgyN21LU1NwUGxLU3RjM2ktZ09HOVRoZlISFgoUMEU0NEQ3MUU4NDE0MjZDRTY0QjgPrescription Drug Abuse Treatment Delray FloridaThe choices that patients have regarding drug addiction recovery are as varied as the treatments themselves. Prescription drug addiction is a major epidemic in our society now. Did you know that the most commonly abused prescription is opiates (like hydrocodone)? Well, prescribed opiods activate the same areas of your brain as heroin!!! That's VERY dangerous to get a habit of abusing---in fact, just abusing 1x can be fatal! Try to combat this addiction process by avoiding pain meds at the doctor, and ask what other options are available to you (like NSAIDS).  Thank you for listening to the Staying Young Medical Minute!
