FILM FEST TIX: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 PATREON: www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast workithealth.com/dopey This week on Dopey Wednesday,! We begin with a Father's Day rant about dads texting each other, calls his father Alan live on the show, argues about masculinity, the Knicks championship, post-Knicks withdrawal, the Dopey Film Festival, and whether Seymour is allowed to come. Dave also reads Patreon and Spotify comments about Todd's sister Allie, Todd's apartment, Dopey socks, and listener reactions. Then the episode shifts into a live Workit Health/Dopey event with the great Amy “Dopey Dres” Dresner, author of My Fair Junkie. Amy talks brutally and hilariously about long-term recovery when life does not magically become beautiful: losing her father, mother, and cat in a short period of time, checking herself into a psych ward with ten years sober, surviving suicidal ideation, epilepsy, seizures, brain meds, isolation, grief, and the nightmare comedy of American healthcare. Dave and Amy get into harm reduction, MAT, 12-step recovery, writing through trauma, being funny in the middle of misery, shame, forgiveness, isolation, suicidal thoughts, and why connection is still the only real way out. It's classic Dopey: funny, dark, honest, messy, sad, useful, and somehow hopeful. All that and more on a weird new dopey! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. FILM FESTIVAL TICKETS: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 PATREON: www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast This week on Dopey! We check in from deep inside Knicks playoff mania, tackles a listener email about dating in early recovery, and shares some hard-earned thoughts on relapse, relationships, and protecting your sobriety at all costs. Then we reconnect with fellow Mountainside alum Kelly P, who was in treatment alongside Dave and Chris back in 2011. What follows is a truly classic Dopey story: childhood trauma, smoking weed at 12, cocaine by 17, dealing pills, getting hooked on oxy and heroin, robbing her own supplier, catching a federal indictment, getting arrested by the DEA, doing time in federal prison, finding love behind bars, and eventually surviving years of heroin, fentanyl, crack, and total chaos. Kelly takes us through decades of addiction, crime, incarceration, heartbreak, motherhood, and redemption with brutal honesty and surprising humor. From federal prison relationships to fentanyl addiction and near-total self-destruction, Kelly's story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible even after the darkest chapters. Now approaching three years sober, Kelly reflects on forgiveness, family, recovery, and the gratitude that comes from building a life she never thought she'd get to live. PLUS: Knicks obsession, 2C-B puke stories, listener mail, Patreon drama, Narcan, recovery resources, cocaine relapse talk, and plenty of classic Dopey nonsense on a brand new episode of the podcast on drugs, addiction, and dumb shit. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Film Festival Tickets: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 Listen Without ads on patreon: www.pareon.com/dopeypodcast This week on the Wednesday Dose! The episode kicks off with a classic hippie Dopey email from listener MB, who recounts a spectacular Phish tour nitrous disaster. After days of ketamine, booze, overpriced cocaine, and lot balloons at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Colorado, MB face-plants into the dirt while clutching multiple nitrous balloons, destroys his glasses, spends a miserable flight home dry-heaving and hallucinating, and somehow survives a concussion-level experience. The story ends on a positive note with nearly ten months clean and sober and a request for dream guests Gibby Haynes and Jason Isbell. Dave then dives into Patreon and Spotify comments, including continuing fallout from the Dopey Sticker Contest. Selby files an official election challenge, claiming the contest was stolen and accusing Dave of failing to refresh Patreon before announcing a winner. Dave doubles down, insisting Felix Heads remains the champion despite accusations of voter suppression, corruption, and sticker fraud. Along the way listeners discuss ADHD, religion, Knicks fandom, kratom recovery, Long Island stories, and the eternal mystery of white crack dealers. The heart of the episode is an incredible interview with Michael Muniz, a 69-year-old Brooklyn native with 36 years sober. Michael tells a quintessential New York story that stretches from Brownsville gangs, schoolyard fights, and witnessing the neighborhood transformation of Brooklyn in the 1960s and 70s to marijuana, acid, cocaine, crack addiction, homelessness, Rikers Island, and ultimately recovery through Phoenix House. Michael shares stories about seeing his deceased father's face in the clouds during an LSD trip, discovering crack in the Cypress Projects and instantly becoming obsessed, losing everything while sleeping on subway trains and wandering New York's tunnels, robbing his mother, surviving violent encounters, and eventually finding his way into Phoenix House. What began as a plan to simply get clean long enough to save money and return to crack eventually became a lifelong recovery journey. The conversation explores therapeutic communities, recovery philosophy, family loyalty, homelessness during the crack epidemic, the culture of Brooklyn neighborhoods, Rikers Island in the 1980s, and the power of second chances. Michael also describes a dramatic courtroom moment where, facing serious federal charges, he convinced a judge to give him probation instead of prison after speaking honestly about recovery and wanting a different life. By the end, Michael reflects on his 36 years of sobriety, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, acting career, and belief that recovery is a lifelong process. Dave and Michael bond over drug dreams, gratitude, family, and the reality that while the desire to get high may never fully disappear, a meaningful life in recovery is infinitely better. The episode closes with Michael from the band Good Kid performing a live version of “Good So Bad,” All that and MORE MORE MORE on the Wednesday dose of that good old Dopey Show! FILM FESTIVAL TICKETS: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 PATREON: www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast Summary On this Dopey Monday Total Replay, Dave looks back at Dopey Episode 28, one of the strangest and creepiest early episodes of the show. It features Dave, Chris, and graphic-design Ryan — the guy who made the original Dopey logo — talking through old Lower East Side drug energy, the first major Dopey fan emails, weird ego stuff, drug stories, recovery, Rob Reiner, Nick Reiner, and a whole lot of eerie foreshadowing. Dave reflects on how painful it is to hear Chris again, knowing he died in 2018, and uses the episode to make a simple but brutal point: if Chris had stayed in recovery, he probably wouldn't have died. The replay itself is classic early Dopey: messy, funny, dark, uncomfortable, and weirdly prophetic. Ryan tells a story about refusing to leave a drug pickup even after a guy puts a gun to his head. Chris talks about addiction, genetics, rats drinking heroin water, and recovery. Dylan randomly calls in right as Dave is talking about Dylan from 90210, which feels like Dopey synchronicity. The episode also includes the first big fan email from Tina in Philadelphia, Dave getting wounded by being called “Dan,” and a long, now-haunting conversation about Rob Reiner and Nick Reiner before Nick ever appeared on Dopey. It's funny, painful, and very Dopey. PLUS Drugs, addiction and dumb shit on the new/old 10 year anniversary of this episode!(of Dopey) Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Film Festival Tickets are here! https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 Listen without ads www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast Summary Dave opens this Dopey Greatest Hits episode with a full Long Island transportation saga after the LIRR strike, the Knicks comeback, Australian Dopey Nation messages, a dentist/implant update, and a voicemail from Ben about 7OH being so strong it blocked the effects of oxy and Dilaudid. Dave then reads Patreon and Spotify comments from the Gabor Maté replay, talks about AI, Katz's, the Dopey Film Festival, and why Motorcycle Gang Gary won the “Long Island fucko” replay poll. The main replay is Gary from the beach — a classic Long Island Dopey story. Gary talks about growing up on Long Island, early drinking, weed, the Beatles, Zeppelin, handball, woods parties, coke, fighting crews, Teamster money, selling weed, motorcycles, 1% biker culture, strip clubs, ego, crack, destroying his marriage, losing his house, Gordon Heights crack runs, robbing a dealer, getting stabbed and beaten nearly to death, 250 stitches, rehabs, relapse, spiritual darkness, and eventually finding recovery. It's funny, brutal, very Long Island, and one of the great beach-meeting Dopey stories. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Almost three years on from their final Aisling book, writers and besties Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen are back with a brand new novel, Our Deadly Summer. It's a heartfelt and hilarious tale about friendship, young women and bad men. In today's episode, the pair tell Róisín Ingle about the J1 spent in Long Island which inspired the story and why despite pursuing solo projects after the Aisling series, they ultimately found themselves working together again. In this wide-ranging discussion, they also give their take on enduring female friendships, Botox, and the precarity of renting in Dublin. But first, Irish Times opinion editor Jennifer O'Connell is here to discuss some of the biggest stories of the week, including the surge in women seeking help for cocaine addiction and why Meghan Markle wants you to buy a $64 candle to celebrate her wedding anniversary. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Adam works with a client who wanted to reduce their cocaine consumption and the impact on their life by over 95% and with Adam created 4 boundaries that would mitigate risks without having to quit cocaine completely.

Most people hide their addiction until it destroys them — Kellan Fluckiger spent $3,000 a week on cocaine while testifying before Congress, then flatlined in an ICU and met God at the door. In this episode of The Root of All Success, Jason Duncan sits down with Kellan Fluckiger, a former energy executive turned coach, author of 30+ books, billboard-charting choir performer, and founder of The Ultimate Life Formula. After hiding cocaine addiction and depression for 30 years while working at the highest levels of government and industry, Kellan experienced a divine intervention in 2007, quit cold turkey, and walked away from millions in contracts. In 2018, he died in the ICU for 17 days — and what happened at that doorway changed everything. Kellan shares how severe childhood abuse created the “I'm not good enough” belief that fueled decades of overachievement and self-destruction, his 18-hour out-of-body life review of pain he caused and received, and the four truths God gave him about purpose and mission. This conversation dives into: • How childhood abuse created a lifelong “prove I'm good enough” addiction • Spending $3,000/week on cocaine while running energy operations and testifying before Congress • The 2007 divine intervention and 18-hour life review • Quitting cocaine cold turkey after hearing “it is enough” • Meeting his wife Joy at a Yo-Yo Ma concert when God said, “You need to marry this woman. Tonight.” • Walking away from millions in contracts without knowing what came next • The 2018 near-death experience: flatlining in the ICU for 17 days • Standing at the doorway with God and being asked, “Do you want to come home?” • A vision of infinite domains (like the movie Contact with Jodie Foster) • Four truths brought back from death: You're divine. You have a mission. You have gifts. Help is available. • Why God said “Because you don't believe,” when asked why people settle • The Book of Context framework for eliminating limiting beliefs • God's final question before returning: “Are you sure?” • How “context straitjackets” (BDEEP: Beliefs, Definitions, Experiences, Expectations, Perceptions) limit us • Why success isn't what you accumulate — it's what you make of yourself • His refusal to give up: “I friggin won't stop.” If you're battling hidden addiction, stuck in “not good enough” patterns, or wondering if transformation is possible after decades of pain — this episode will challenge everything you thought you knew about redemption and purpose.

This week on Dopey! Dave talks to Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods about growing up in grim small-town England, discovering punk and mod culture, and using booze, speed, ecstasy and finally cocaine to numb himself through factory jobs, failed bands and a brutal home life. Jason breaks down how club and rave culture in the '90s felt like utopia, how Sleaford Mods was born from a eureka moment shouting over a looped metal sample, and how his addiction eventually narrowed into solitary marathons of cocaine and online porn in hotel rooms and crack houses. He opens up about childhood trauma, not being seen or taught how to love, his wife taking the kids and walking out, and the moment he poured out a beer and stopped everything—booze, coke, weed, cigarettes—on the same day. They talk therapy, complex trauma, breaking the family cycle, and finish with a ridiculous music nerd “this or that” game. All that and MORE on this weeks NEW Wednesday Dose of Dopey! (If listening through headphones, the first 16 minutes are difficult to hear Scuyler, but then it evens out - stay with me!!) Part One of my husband's incredible story. Scuyler grew up in an affluent area of Northern California, spending summers at the family home in Nantucket, surrounded by wealthy families and privilege. A gifted athlete, a knee injury at sixteen threw his entire world off course. Strung out on oxycontin and kicked out high school his senior year, Scuyler's world completely crumbled. By the time he was 18 he was doing his first jail term and had a felony strike in California. Extradited at 22 from Florida to California by US Air Marshals and accused of homicide didn't stop his escalating drug use. Part One brings us to Scuyler turning 29 and beginning a new treatment center in San Diego, the year he also met me. I REALLY want to hear what you guys think of my husband's episode...I am BEYOND proud of him and his vulnerability and strength in this episode. DM me your thoughts on Instagram! Say Hi on TikTok!

I Have Issues - The Mental Health Podcast From Dr Mark Rackley
Send us a Text Message.Cocaine use is common-place in many cities around the world, including London the one where I live and work. Like many psychologists I have worked with patients who have problems with cocaine and they become addicted to this drug. For someone who is addicted to cocaine, it brings chaos to their lives and the people who are in their lives along with poor physical and mental health. Sadly in some cases, cocaine addiction can lead to a premature death. In this episode I talk to Sean WIllers.Sean's story is a facilitating one, from his time in the British army, to becoming a top DJ in nightclubs in both London and Berlin. Sadly, Sean became addicted to cocaine and his life began to unravel.I have an open and honest conversation with Sean about his addiction to cocaine, what led to that , how he managed to give it up and get his life back on track. Sean now uses his story to support and provide inspiration to other people like him who are struggling with cocaine addiction. He is now a lifestyle coach, personal trainer and mental health advocate. He is truly an inspirational person and this interview is full of hope that other people too can deal with this issue. I'm a London based adolescent and adult chartered psychologist. Please share this podcast if you find it helpful. Also follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok and Facebook for insights on mental health.

The reputation you've spent your professional life building is threatened by association with your cocaine-addicted friend. Which relationship is worth saving? You seem to be condemned to a life of working for crappy bosses. What can you do to break this undesirable pattern? Doctors can prescribe effective treatments for heroin and opioid addiction, but there's no medication to help cocaine addicts quit. That's why doctors at the University of Virginia are trying a whole new approach – stimulating part of the brain that's linked to addiction. Sandy Hausman has that story.

Adam Banks grew up in Northern Wisconsin, a place where he felt he needed to hide his sexuality. At 15 he started drinking in bars where the only requirement was a promise that your parent was in the bar with you.As he got older he felt a strong need to leave the oppressive environment of his hometown, so he looked to the closest example of someone getting out, his neighbor who was a pilot. He became extremely driven and motivated and became one of the youngest pilots in his class. He quickly realized the life of a pilot wasn't how it was portrayed in movies. The life was a lonely one. Often his days involved sitting in a cockpit with one other person, then sitting alone in hotel rooms all around the country. The isolation was the perfect catalyst for his growing alcoholism. He found himself getting closer and closer to the legal lines of being a pilot. While caught up in his addiction he found himself drinking up to the minute he was required to stop. On September 11th he was flying a plane and upon discovering the tragedy his mind spun on how easily it could have been him in one of those planes. The trauma of the day stayed with him, adding more power to the strength to his addiction. In the months after, there wasn't much flying happening and they moved his homebase to New York City. In New York, he found the acceptance he'd been looking for in the bars and clubs of the city. Cocaine, steroids and other drugs entered his life and his addiction hit new heights.Eventually, his using and his life as a pilot could no longer co-exist and he finally found lasting sobriety 16 years ago.Today Adam runs an addiction clinic where he helps families find help for their loved ones.Episode ResourcesBook | Navigating RecoveryConnect with AdamWebsite | adambanksrecovery.comConnect with The Courage to ChangePodcast Website | lionrock.life/couragetochangepodcastPodcast Instagram | @couragetochange_podcastYouTube | The Courage to Change PodcastTikTok | @ashleyloebblassingamePodcast Email | podcast@lionrock.lifePodcast Facebook | @thecouragetochangepodcastLionrock ResourcesLionrock Life Mobile App | lionrock.life/mobile-appSupport Group Meeting Schedule | lionrock.life/meetings

Join Daniel, Aka Dapper Laughs, in this new Podcast, Menace II Sobriety, where he raises awareness around addiction and sobriety and talks about the links between drugs, alcohol, mental health and well-being whilst interviewing incredible guests. In this episode, Daniel is joined by celebrity hypnotherapist, author and ex-addict Elliot Wald. Elliot has over 26 years of experience in psychology and linguistics, this teamed with his own experience of addiction, gives him a unique opportunity to educate and help individuals and families suffering the consequences of addiction. He talks to Daniel about his own journey to sobriety, his knowledge of cocaine and addiction as well as how he has helped hundreds of people get sober. KEY TAKEAWAYS Elliot focuses on cocaine addiction in a lot of his hypnotherapy. Recently he has found popularity in creating TikTok videos and this is where Daniel first heard of him. There are a set of characteristics specific to cocaine use, Elliot sets out to educate people to recognise these as early as possible, to help someone who may or already is suffering from addiction. If you recognise you have a problem with addiction, this may not be welcomed by those around you. Daniel likens it to holding a mirror up to those surrounding you and they don't want to see it or admit they may have a problem too. As an addict, it isn't possible to have just a small amount of the substance you have a problem with, no matter how much other people might try and convince you. People who offer drink or drugs to you when they know you have a problem aren't giving you the support you need to combat your addiction. It's absolutely possible to channel an addictive personality into positive pursuits, such as fitness. Secondary addiction is common, particularly around sex. In most things in life, there is a certain amount of pain to endure before pleasure. With cocaine, this is switched around which is one of the reasons it's so hard to break the habit. Elliot believes there are four steps to the addiction to cocaine: 1. The anticipation of taking cocaine 2. The using of cocaine 3. Believing it will be different next time 4. The stress, anxiety and regret of using Lies are a big part of any addiction. You lie to the people around you, to yourself, about your addiction, how much you use, how often, the list is endless. Different people can have different substance addictions. You may have issues with cocaine but not alcohol, however, some people can become addicted to almost anything. To help someone, Elliot first has to understand them completely, he can then help them rewire their brain to go sober. BEST MOMENTS “I was a genuine lads lad sesh-head back in the day” “It goes from the most social drug to the most unsociable drug” “Sometimes when you recognise you have a problem or an issue it's like holding a mirror up to the people around you” “I'm an all or nothing mentality” “What things have you done that you would never ever do if you weren't on the packet?" “When you use, you lie” “I don't judge people, I'm not there to judge you, I'm there to help you” VALUABLE RESOURCES https://www.cocaineanonymous.org.uk CONTACT METHOD Instagram Facebook Twitter ABOUT THE GUEST Elliot Wald Elliott Wald is a Master Trainer in many therapies and over the last 27 years has become recognised as a leading expert in the field of Hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programming NLP and Modern Psychology. In 2008, he used the hypnotic and psychological tools to stop, this was the catalyst to his journey to read every book and research paper specifically on cocaine addiction. After recently being diagnosed with severe ADHD and beginning his sobriety again, Daniel also set up a page on Facebook and Instagram called 'Men And Their Emotions' (M.A.T.E) an accessible, open and supportive group for MEN to post their feelings, thoughts and current life issues. Upon seeing the responses from men around the world to some of the posts on the group he was blown away and continues to be touched by the kindness and support offered by strangers. This all led to Daniel wanting to start up his own podcast and invite guests to join him in opening up about past experiences and talk about all things mental health, family & sobriety. The podcast will see Daniel and his interesting guests' sharing their personal stories and learning experiences that they hope will help other people; whether it encourages one person to ask for help, talk to family about their struggles with getting sober/clean, or realise that they aren't alone. The Menace 2 Sobriety podcast has been created by Daniel to help people fight their own gremlins.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Adam creates a hypnosis session for a client that was using cocaine as a way of dealing with feelings of overwhelm and guilt. Much of this overwhelm came from a childhood belief that he had to work harder than anyone else which influenced his decision-making as an adult. This session enabled him to tap into the part of him that was fantastic at making decisions that would reduce overwhelm and also enable him to decide on alternatives to cocaine that would avoid the negative consequences that were possible while under the influence.
