Having weathered the harsh financial storms of the past, Robert has learned the invaluable lesson of embracing his failures to push through challenges and create a life of abundance. As the founder of Grit Partners, he has touched over $1 billion worth of debt, providing positive benefits for his investors and homeowners alike. Through his journey, Robert has discovered the power of resilience and the importance of investing for freedom. “And so we measure our success in failure. So I don't subscribe to the mindset of don't do things wrong, don't take risks, stay away from failure. No, it's okay to fail. Embrace it, learn from it.” “Failures don't have to stay as failures. There are successes if you look beyond them. So don't let it go to waste. You need to look through these roadblocks and this adversity to see the solution on the other side. As long as you can keep moving forward, you will get to the other side always.”Financial Abundance and Freedom: Investing for a Better TomorrowPursuing financial abundance and freedom allows entrepreneurs and investors to create a life that affords greater flexibility and control over their future. This goal shouldn't be about accumulating wealth alone; instead, focus on making smart investments to accumulate resources efficiently and effectively. Investing for the future enables one to conquer both short-term concerns and long-term aspirations, maximizing their potential for a fulfilled life. In his conversation with Jamie Bateman, Robert Napolitano discussed his views on financial success and the importance of investing for freedom. He emphasized the need to adapt in an ever-changing world and to target investments that offer greater flexibility and autonomy. Robert's advice to invest for freedom is essential for those looking to create financial stability, achieve their dreams, and leave a lasting legacy. The Birth of Responsibility: Taking Ownership for SuccessAssuming personal responsibility is a vital aspect of achieving success and overcoming adversity. But, understanding the need to own your actions and decisions can serve as a turning point, providing motivation and the impetus for positive change. By taking responsibility for their choices, entrepreneurs and investors can become more accountable, enhancing their personal and professional lives. During the podcast, Robert Napolitano spoke about how taking responsibility for his children inspired him to renew his faith and become a more responsible parent and fiduciary for investors. This sense of responsibility spurred Robert on to rebuild his financial position and create a more secure future for his family and clients. Embracing responsibility is a key aspect of personal development that builds resilience and helps drive success. Risk Management: Mitigating Risks for Successful InvestingProper risk management is essential for successful investing, particularly in distressed real estate and passive income generation. Rather than avoiding or ignoring potential risks, entrepreneurs and investors should seek strategies to effectively manage or mitigate them. This proactive approach better prepares them for uncertain circumstances and enhances the potential for long-term success. In his conversation with Jamie Bateman, Robert Napolitano stressed the importance of focusing on risk management. Drawing on his own experiences of financial adversity, Robert offered valuable insights on harnessing potential risks and using them to create profitable investment opportunities. His life settlement fund, which complements his distressed real estate investments, exemplifies this focus on mitigating risk and safeguarding investors while pursuing financial growth. On this Hacks & Wonks week-in-review, Metro News Columnist and Opinion Editor for The News Tribune, Matt Driscoll, co-hosts with Crystal. They begin by diving into the impact of the leaked draft of the Supreme Court opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade, frustration with the response from many elected leaders, more rights that are on the chopping block, and–now more than ever–the importance of local government. The impact of Roe v. Wade being overturned on the LGBTQ+ community sparks a discussion on Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier's actions to block pride flags from flying across the county. Crystal and Matt wrap up the show by discussing the harm that the War on Drugs has inflicted for decades and how I-1922, an initiative to replace the failed War on Drugs with proven approaches that address substance use disorder through prevention, outreach, and recovery services, would reduce that harm. As always, a full text transcript of the show is available below and at officialhacksandwonks.com. In this Solo Episode, I share the 3 biggest benefits I have experienced by being part of a paid Mastermind Community. I love having guests on the show, but sometimes things don't line up correctly. Interviews get cancelled or rescheduled. Recordings have technical errors or in some cases they don't convert properly and get lost in the ether. This was definitely one of those weeks. A Mastermind group consists of a group of likeminded professionals who meet to discuss business. They essentially mentor and support one another's professional growth. Typically, they are paid groups. While some people may be skeptical about the benefits of paying to be part of a group - I assure you there are many benefits. I have participated in both a paid and unpaid group. Without a doubt, I have gained significantly more from being in the paid group. I attribute this to the fact that people more consistently show up and prioritize participation as they are financially invested in the process. In this episode I share about my experiences with both paid and unpaid groups and highlight the top 3 benefits of participating in a paid group. It's time to shift your mindset from focusing on your hourly billing to concentrating on the value you provide. "What would be the cost if you do not take action?" is the question you should be asking potential clients. Use this as the foundation of your fee schedule. Charging based on results requires you to have faith in your team, the value you provide, and your processes. It also requires that you go into sales meetings confidently and unattached to the outcome. Pay attention and take stock as we're closing out 2020. Take a hard look at your fee schedules. Are they based on the actual value that you provide? What You Will Learn in this Episode The questions you should be asking to determine your value How to develop the mindset needed to charge higher fees Why you have to set boundaries and maintain them How overwhelm undermines your pricing Why you have to stop looking at what your competition is charging Links and Resources Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill https://www.amazon.com/Think-Grow-Rich-Landmark-Bestseller/dp/1585424331/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1BLB3H0NJXTHK&dchild=1&keywords=think+and+grow+rich&qid=1603820090&sprefix=think+and+grow%2Caps%2C213&sr=8-3 https://www.legalmarketingflow.com/ https://www.facebook.com/LegalMarketingFlow https://www.linkedin.com/in/roslyndrotar/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/molly-hall/

[3:35] Who was Spectacular Smith before Pretty Ricky? Spectacular was a child going to school, a class clown He was in a dance group “Baby Forever Nasty” At a young age, he always enjoyed dancing and performing [5:29] Did you want to be a celebrity or be in the spotlight? Spectacular doesn't even think about being a celebrity and is less focused on the popularity but more focused on the RESULT [7:50] Spectacular had to be GREAT at a young age His father Joe Smith instilled a greatness mindset and pushed them to practice and perfect their craft at a young age The focus was performing at a high level, so they could receive more shows Joe Smith had a system where he wouldn't charge for shows, but would ask people for a favor / trade Pretty Ricky's audience was built from shows and building their brand Joe Smith values - Integrity, Loyalty and Trust [11:04] Early Mentors He learned a lot from his father, Joe but he also spent 12 years in prison Spectacular's mother showed him the work ethic and strong foundation to achieve His mother worked hard in the beginning and passed the role to his father and his father Joe carried them across the finish line [14:54] Social media and showcasing the END RESULT Spectacular believes it's celebrity culture that is causing the problem of people wanting to achieve results without working for it People only see the fame and fortune, not the struggle behind it Celebrities don't show the process, the late nights, the losses, the pivots etc Shiny object syndrome [17:50] Black Boss Valuable Minute Kevin shares how you can become a member of the Black Boss Club AND also how you can save 10% off your first purchase at the Black Boss Store. [19:53] As an inspiration, what can you do to share the journey? Spectacular knows he needs to be better at documenting the struggle He knows he needs to carve out time to show the struggle, but knows he needs to work on it Spec plans to have a camera man film his life, so they can show the realness behind the greatness Influencers can record a quick behind the scenes and upload it immediately [26:29] When Spec reached his peak of success - was it what he expected? People often forget that the music business is a business FIRST 90 % Business 10 % Talent Pretty Ricky reached all of their goals but they ended up with no money because his father wasn't aware of the “contract” aspect of the business You have to reach out and ask for help when you enter a situation you aren't experienced in Everything was there - girls, money, tours, and success [27:49] Independent vs. Working with a Label If you have time and resources to build a team, then you can do it independently If you don't, why not partner up with a label to get the most output [30:27] Pivoting to Spectacular's own business Everything from day 1 was a family business Spec got kicked out of the house and was forced to create his own entity From that day forward, he never looked back and created his own business Spectacular loved social media, and realized he could make a business out of it He started with parody accounts then saw how he could build followings to make money Adwizar was created [33:57] Adwizar Started his business by helping people in the music industry monetize their following Spectacular then realized celebrities are ungrateful, he would grow their page and then they would jump ship to other companies Switched the Adwizar narrative from monetizing to follower growth Facebook saw how much money Adwizar was making and they wanted a cut so he switched to service based businesses [39:48] Client Base Spectacular was thinking about how he can make the same amount of money, with the same size staff He started partnering with companies that fit his scalable model Adwizar made a company $175,000 and only got $5,000 out of the deal - so Spectacular realized he needed to pivot Now, their company provides a 3-month contract and offers an opt-in for a partnership to split the monetization or they can transition to the coaching model which trains a companies staff member to take over the social media process [48:40] What companies are scalable? If they have a high ROI with their paid ads Ecommerce brands and Online Courses do the best [51:07] Partnering with Celebrities and Influencers Spectacular sees the financial gain but doesn't like working with their egos When you're in the music space, all you see is music Spectacular created Social Seed, along with 3 Black Executives, where the average person can invest in their influencer Adwizar Technologies has a program where they match each influencer with a brand [57:30] 3 tips to creating a successful business Start with the culture - surround yourself with people who are tapped into the culture Create a mastermind for yourself Find a mentor [59:25] Online Business School Spectacular joined several business programs to learn the tools to implement in his business Entrepreneur Organization - the best decision he ever made in business, was to join this organization Everything that Spectacular has learned is from courses, books and mentorship [1:04:14] Spectacular's Closing Message to All Black Bosses The business bible is Think and Grow Rich Spectacular makes his son read all mindset books - because the only think stoping you in this is you You can't put limitations on what you can do in life [1:10:35] Kevin asks Spectacular 3 piercing questions What is your definition of a Black Boss? [8:15] How can we do better at getting people in the door of the water industry? What small adjustments are important? We aren’t just competing for people who want to work in water. We are competing with all organizations and industries. Change job responsibilities and freshen up titles to meet the demand. Tie in the mission of water – it’s our greatest differentiator. Each of us has a personal responsibility to reach out and recruit. [16:00] What is “junk science” and how does it relate to water quality?
