In this special episode of The Lawyers Weekly Show, produced in partnership with Lorica Partners, we unpack Rick Walker's experience of trekking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, what it taught him – personally and professionally – and what lawyers can take away when planning for 2025. Host Jerome Doraisamy speaks with Lorica Partners founder and senior adviser Rick Walker about his upbringing and how this has shaped his life and approach to financial planning, why he chose to undertake the 800-kilometre route on the Camino de Santiago, not having any expectations going into such an undertaking, what the day-to-day experience was like across those weeks, and the insights and perspective he gained from the trek. Walker delves into his renewed appreciation for life's small joys, the significance of documenting his reflections on the trek, and the lessons such an expedition offers lawyers. He explores how his client interactions have transformed, what introspective questions lawyers should pose as the new year approaches, and the critical importance of recharging and resetting during the summer break to craft optimal strategies for 2025. Americans are in a negative mood about the current state of the country, with large majorities expressing dissatisfaction with the economy and overall national conditions. And when they look toward the not-too-distant future, they see a country that in many respects will be worse than it is today, according to a new Pew Research Center survey. Views of specific problems have also become more negative over the past five years. For each of the four items included in the new survey, Americans today are about 10 percentage points more likely to offer a negative prediction than they were when asked to think about the year 2050 in a separate survey conducted by the Center in 2018. For example, 77% of Americans now expect the nation to be more politically divided in 2050 – up from 65% who made that prediction five years ago. One man who may have some interesting viewpoints on this discussion is Rick Walker. He's a proven leader across multiple domains – business, global politics and philanthropy. He can meet people where they are by discussing a variety of highly complex topics and simplifying them into succinct messages for broad understanding. The author of Hebrews gave believers a task: "Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds ... , not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near" (10:24–25). One of the ways we, as the people of God, can stimulate and encourage one another is by sharing stories of God's faithfulness. Rick Walker, a member of Oakridge Bible Chapel, shares some of what God has been teaching him over the past few years, months, and through various life circumstances. God is faithful, and Rick can—and does—attest to that!

As related in another audio file, two days before the debut of Kiss, Z99 was echoing everything KJ played; since KJ had fewer songs due to the morning show banter, the rest of the time was filled with music from the existing Z99 playlist, other songs which hadn't been played on KJ in forever, and dayparted KJ currents. After a fakeout "mix" switch at 6 pm, Z99 returned to regular programming, until the next morning with "Ocean 99", playing CDs of ocean sounds interspersed with Billy Ocean songs; ostensibly to wash Z99 and the taste of KJ off the frequency. This audio file documents the end of Ocean 99, segueing into a ticking clock sound from midnight to 6 am, and finally the debut of the new station and morning show, with Rick Walker, Steve Hill, and Jeanne Nass.

Hello and welcome to the first ever episode of First Impressions! This week, we talk about Monument’s The Amanuensis, set by the one and only Mr Rick Walker for Romy, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus’ Don’t You Fake It, set by Romy for Rick. We dive into a whole load of subjects as a result of our discussions on these albums, and only deviate off topic slightly, surprisingly. Please direct any questions/thoughts/abuse (please don’t abuse us, we’re very sensitive souls) to one of us, Soundcloud or our email (!) podcastfirstimpressions@gmail.com. Introduction music written and recorded by Rick (with a tiny bit of help from Romy) straight after we finished this episode. It’s called Five Minute Relish, because relish is more interesting than jam. Apologies for any interference/background noise/blips/the amount of times Romy says ‘erm’, this was our first time recording and hopefully we’ll have any issues sorted out next week. Next weeks albums: Ayreon’s “Universal Migrator, Pt. I & II” & The Wonder Years’ “The Greatest Generation”.
We kick of election year with a candidate for Comal County Sherrif. James R. On June 2nd Brent's first album in 20 years, “Don’t Look Back,” will be released. The record features a ton of amazing collaborations, including Julian Lennon, Todd Rundgren, Charlie Peacock, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Rachael Lampa, Chris Rodriguez, and the first reunion in the studio of Bourgeois Tagg in 25 years. Brent Bourgeois began performing on piano in Dallas clubs when he was only 13. He moved to California five years later with friend Larry Tagg and in 1984 formed the pop band Bourgeois Tagg with drummer Rick Walker and guitarist Lyle Workman. The group released a self-titled album in 1986 and Yoyo in 1987 (produced by Todd Rundgren). The single "Mutual Surrender (What a Wonderful World)" reached the charts in 1986, and the following year "I Don't Mind at All" hit the Top 40.
Musical explorer Rick Walker pauses for a moment to retrace some of the ground he's traversed in the last 35 years, from his early days as a punk/ska/new wave drummer to a serious student of world percussion traditions to electronica and looping to jazz. We surveyed his career while listening to a lot of musical examples and chatting about such things as: -His early involvement in the “world music” movement of the '80s -Playing with the late guitarist Bob Brozman -A paternal blessing from Babatunde Olatunji -Falling in love with looping -Rhythm, repetition and trance -Singing and other really scary things
