Are you stuck in the fat-burning zone but still not seeing results? Many people think burning fat during exercise equals fat loss, but the truth is more complex. In today's episode, we'll discuss the difference between fat burning and fat loss—and why understanding this can transform your fitness journey. We'll debunk the common myth that staying in a low-intensity "fat-burning zone" is the best way to lose fat. You'll understand why your body burning fat doesn't necessarily translate into fat loss. We'll also discuss how your body uses calories for energy, how to track your caloric intake and burn, and the importance of quality nutrition in maintaining a calorie deficit. What kind of impact does our oral health have on our overall health? A lot, as it turns out! Today's guest is Trina Felber, Founder and President of Primal Life Organics, and she's 'mouthing off' on what we need to do to improve our oral health. We explore the importance of the oral microbiome and how natural dental products can support oral and gut health by keeping the mouth alkaline and remineralizing our teeth. Tina also discusses the potential health risks of fluoride and the benefits of light therapy for teeth whitening and gum health. Discover why we need an alkaline mouth, why mouthwash is a bad idea, and protecting our nitric oxide production is a very, very GOOD idea for men in this episode that's gonna make you reevaluate your teeth brushing routine - for the better. What are some of the worst diets out there for men over 40? I'm Funk Roberts and my goal is to empower you with knowledge and tools to make informed dietary decisions that will positively impact your life. Sure, perhaps a Paleo diet worked for cavemen – but they only lived to 30, right? The negative impact of specific diets on your health and well-being, diets that are hyped up as quick fixes on social media, cannot be underestimated for men over 40. We're at that stage when we need to take our hormonal balance and cortisol levels into serious consideration as we aim for a diet that becomes a lifestyle. And so in this episode I'm critiquing some of the more popular diets out there and looking at them from the perspective of a man in his 40s, 50s, 60s, or even 70s. A man who needs nutritional support to provide for his family. I understand that navigating the world of nutrition can be overwhelming, but I'm here to guide you every step of the way. In this episode I also offer the ultimate solution to optimizing your nutrition for long-term lifestyle success. Please join us."I just need to follow a nutrition lifestyle that supports my hormones, my metabolism, my overall health, my energy, my mind, my brain. And it's easy to follow because I don't have to count calories. I don't have to weigh my food. I don't have to restrict complete food groups. I'm always talking about cortisol and testosterone. But there's one hormone that doesn't get enough love from me. This is human growth hormone.According to Dustin Baker, today's guest, human growth hormone is the body's master hormone for both men and women.HGH is responsible for many metabolic functions, and it declines naturally with age, starting after puberty, leading to issues like loss of muscle mass and quality.Fortunately, some natural and synthetic ways can help you increase your HGH levels, and Dustin explains them all.In this episode, Dustin shares his origin story of falling in love with health and fitness in his early 20s and the journey that led him to acquire BioProtein Tech and create their flagship product, Bio Pro Plus.We get into the stigma around HGH treatments and why they've earned a bad reputation. Dustin explains how peptides came as a replacement but are now facing regulation. This is where Bio Pro Plus comes in as a natural alternative.Dustin answers questions about potential benefits for both men and women, including joint health, fat loss, muscle growth, recovery, and more.If you want to learn how to age better, boost your performance in the gym, and feel your best, this episode is the way to go. “My own personal tip [to increase HGH naturally]? Invest in some sort of tracking system and some sort of professional to tell you what to do, get a good schedule together, and just execute it. Don't make it hard.” —Dustin BakerIn This Episode: What is Human Growth Hormone? The connection between sarcopenia and HGHWhat is insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), and why is it relevant? The #1 natural strategy for increasing your levels of HGHThe history of HGH synthetic treatmentsHow can you find the right HGH treatment for youSubscribe and Listen on iTuneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-over-40-alpha-podcast/id1446632685 Listen to This Episode on Your Favourite Podcast Channelwww.over40alphapodcast.comI want to give a MASSIVE thanks to all who are stepping up and leaving5 star reviews.Your support of the Over 40 Alpha Podcast helps to spread the word and ultimately, change the lives of men all around the world over the age of 40, 50 and 60 that struggle with health and fitnessPlease review and one share at a time.Drop that 5 star review.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-over-40-alpha-podcast/id1446632685Resources mentioned: BioProtein Technology - https://bioproteintech.com/Connect with Dustin Baker: Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/bioproteintech/Connect with Funk Roberts: Website - https://www.over40alpha.com/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/funkrobertsfitness
You may think that you will stop feeling stress once you retire or change your job or the kids go live by themselves. Hate to break it to you, but stress just won't disappear. The secret is that you don't have to let it wreck your peace of mind.Sure, meditation, hiking, and sunlight are great stress-busters. However, there's a game-changer that often gets overlooked: nutrition.Today's guest will speak about the right nutrition to fortify the body so we can have a strong immune system to fight stressors. Dr. Cori Stern has been on a mission since 2001 to help people reclaim their health naturally. Her journey started in a childhood characterized by a poor diet, chronic infections, and endless antibiotics. At 15, she took matters into her own hands, delving into the mysteries of the gut-brain connection and the impact of diet on well-being.At 37, she emerged as a chiropractor, helping people globally overcome health challenges and advocating for their well-being.Dr. Stern is here to guide us, unveiling the power of eating the proper foods to fortify our bodies, bolster our immune systems, and face stressors.Today isn't about blame. It's about taking that first step toward a healthier, stress-resistant you. Tune in and discover where your journey to well-being begins. Let's do this.“Nutrition, as I have discovered, is the basis of health. So many chiropractors like myself have found that if people are not eating properly, if they have nutritional deficiencies or imbalances, all the chiropractic in the world doesn't fix them.” —Dr. Cori SternIn This Episode: Connection between natural healing and chiropractic medicine Key nutrients your body needsThe impact of pathogens and heavy metals on your healthSymptoms of a weak immune systemWhat to do if you're healthy but still have symptomsStrategies for optimizing your immune systemSubscribe and Listen on iTuneshttps://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-over-40-alpha-podcast/id1446632685 Listen to This Episode on Your Favourite Podcast Channelwww.over40alphapodcast.comI want to give a MASSIVE thanks to all who are stepping up and leaving5 star reviews.Your support of the Over 40 Alpha Podcast helps to spread the word and ultimately, change the lives of men all around the world over the age of 40, 50 and 60 that struggle with health and fitnessPlease review and one share at a time.Drop that 5 star review.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-over-40-alpha-podcast/id1446632685Resources mentioned: FarmMatch - https://www.farmmatch.com/drCori - Get 10 % in your first order courtesy of Dr. Cori!
