I'm happy that they received the star. They received it on Friday Nov. 4, 2022. As years go by, sometimes groups break up & things like that. But when their music has a great impact on you, no matter what goes on between the members of the group, you can't forget them & you go on loving them. They stay in your memory. I remember when it was said that Spin was fired from the group. I was happy to see Salt n Pepa & Spin standing together with a star. They gave us great music together & they deserve it.To me, they were the leading ladies of hip-hop. They were known as the First Ladies of hip hop. Salt n Pepa n Spin are credited as pioneers. When I try to think of other rap female DJ's, I can't remember any in my time. Spinderella was the first one that I saw. I'm not saying that there are none that was before her. I just don't know of any. I haven't seen another rap female DJ after Spinderella making records cutting & stretching on records with a rap group. Salt N Pepa & Spinderella are the best in my opinion which I think is fact. I'm Gail Nobles, and that's the news for today.

Kris & David are joined by Dave Prazak (@DavePrazak) for a Patron-requested show (you can get your own show by going to our Patreon page and following the protocol) to discuss the almost-week that was June 9th-14th, 1991.We start off with the infamous UWF BEACH BRAWL pay-per-view event promoted by Herb Abrams and what a doozy this was. We talk about everything that went wrong both in the ring and out of it; although it's full of wackiness, the in-ring wrestling wasn't nearly as bad as you would've expected. We then go to the WWF, where we talk about the upcoming George Zahorian trial and how that could affect the company as the year went on, as well as TV ratings, house shows, and a WWF CEREAL in the works. On the international scene, we start in Japan, where we talk about a big WWF star wanting to work for All Japan, New Japan running a big show at Budokan Hall, SWS & the WWF running joint shows, and more before going to Mexico, where we discuss Konnan becoming the first ever CMLL World Heavyweight Champion as well as other news and results.Next up is the U.S. indie scene, which is extremely light since we didn't have a Saturday in our week, but we talk about Eric Embry's failure as a booker when it comes to business, Joe Pedicino's GWF being days away from officially landing a TV deal with ESPN, and The National Sports Daily going out of business.WCW closes the show, with the focus being Clash of the Champions XV: Knocksville, USA, where we go over the entire, infamously overstuffed show. We basically rebook the whole thing to keep it from being a complete mess, plus we have cameos from Jason Hervey as well as Pepa & Spinderella from Salt-N-Pepa, to boot. Phil and Jake are rank the 1983 fictional band biopic Eddie and the Cruisers, the 1999 Latin pop hit “Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit of…)” by Lou Bega, and  being possessed on the List of Every Damn Thing. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: Jake and Phil are always on the grind trying to make money while they sleep, trying to monetize, etc. Just the most craven shit you can imagine. Pod-Bucks are how Phil and Jake get paid for making this podcast. A Pod-Buck is kind of like a No-Prize but without the envelope. Actors that we discuss include Tom Berenger, Ellen Barkin, Joe Pantoliano, James Franco, Michael Paré, Rick Springfield, Gary Oldman, Dan Aykroyd and Bob Saget. Many musical acts come up during the episode, such as Bruce Springsteen, Dion and the Belmonts, My Chemical Romance, Damaso Perez Prado, Aerosmith, Ice Cube, Spinderella, Bell Biv Devoe and Chris Gaines.  We talk about how The Doors were used as an inspiration for Eddie and the Cruisers, but we fail to draw the connection that there were also rumors about Jim Morrison faking his death. Songs discussed include  “On the Dark Side” by John Cafferty (which is from the movie), “Quarter to Three” by Gary U.S. Bonds (maybe Phil's favorite song of the 20th century), “Project Chick” by Cash Money Millionaires, “Kokomo” by the Beach Boys, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cindi Lauper and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” by Dione Warwick. Phil mentions a song from the movie called “Special Touch” but the actual name of the song is “Down On My Knees” (also by John Cafferty). Phil's right when he says it sounds like “Hurts So Good” by John Mellencamp. Other movies discussed include That Thing You Do!, West Is West, Streets of Fire, Jersey Boys, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Howard the Duck, Caddyshack, The Matrix, The Truman Show, Drumline, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Exorcist, All of Me, Ghost, Ghost Rider, Ghostbusters, Evil Dead 2, Repossessed, R.I.P.D., The Frighteners and of course Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! Streets of Rage is the arcade game Phil mentioned that uses the common trope of a power up of a whole roast chicken that makes the player regain his health. The Palace of Depression was a real place in Vineland, New Jersey. Jake claims that Eddie and the Cruisers used the actual site as a shooting location, though the internet implies that it was razed in 1969 so maybe the one from the movie was a recreation. Jake calls meals_by_cug a Jersey guy but it looks like he's from Staten Island. We refer to our episode featuring Dave Hause, in which we go over Dave's USA Today piece about Taylor Swift and master tapes. Here's the scene from The Simpsons where Bart tries to buy a novelty license plate. Brian WIlson had a nervous breakdown when he heard the Beatles' Revolver. Sleep paralysis is the worst. Jake cites Scottish folklore that attributes it to a witch sitting on your chest. We couldn't trace the story to Scotland, but we did discover the night hag, which isn't too far off the mark. We don't actually get into the movie, but Silverado is an 80s neo-traditional Western by Lawrence Kasdan with a stacked cast that Phil's never seen, and is the one movie that Phil will never be invited over to Jake's house to watch. Phil, Jake and Jason are joined by new guest Christina to gussy-up the List of Every Damn Thing by ranking the fictional princess Cinderella, the 80s glam-metal band Cinderella, and the hip-hop trailblazer Spinderella. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter and Instagram). You can view the full list at everydamnthing.netSHOW NOTES: RIP to Shock G. of Digital Underground, who died not long before we recorded this episode. Jessica Rabbit is considered to be a Disney Princess by us. The character of Cinderella is so unremarkable in the 1950 Disney movie that they don’t even include her as an ingredient in this official trailer. Charles Perrault, who wrote the Cinderella story best-known in contemporary culture, is pretty much the father of the “fairy tale” genre. His works-- derived from folk stories-- also include Little Red Riding Hood, Puss In Boots and Sleeping Beauty. As we discuss in this episode, Brandy played Cinderella in the 1997 Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella TV movie. Phil didn't mention it but when his wife listens to "The Boy Is Mine" she agrees that the boy is Brandy's. Jake, however, knows the boy is Monica’s. Jason didn’t mention that Drew Barrymore’s air fryer is part of a Wal-Mart Collection. We mention Princess Diana. You can get the Di-themed Beanie Baby for just $50k on eBay. I Was A Rat by Phillip Pullman is just fantastic. Phil recommends it.  Songs (and music videos) of Cinderella’s that we discuss include “Don’t Know What You Got Till It’s Gone” (partly shot in Bodie State Historic Park), “Nobody’s Fool”, “Somebody Save Me”, “Shake Me” and “Gypsy Road”. We also discuss their unremarkable deep-cut “Winds of Change” (not to be confused with “Wind of Change” by Scorpions). We engage in a bit of a hot-or-not session with metal guys, including Tom Keifer, Dee Snider, Stephen Pearcy (aka the guy from Ratt),Kevin DuBrow (aka the guy from Quiet Riot), Vince Neil, Brett Micheals, Slash and Jon Bon Jovi. Here's Michael Bivins (of Bell Biv DeVoe) in the video for “Motown Philly” by Boys II Men. Here’s a clip featuring the real voice of Gilbert Gottfried. The video for “Fresh” by Kool & The Gang is maybe the best interpretation of the Cinderella story and features the best K & the G song too. That's not our opinion, that's a fact. This trailer for the 1977 Cinderella erotic fairy tale movie that Phil saw as a kid acknowledges the foot fetish aspect of the story. The poster art for the movie is pretty great. Jake mentions that Salt-N-Pepa make an appearance in Coming 2 America. Spinderella does not. It looks like Hurby “Luv Bug” Azor was, in fact, in a relationship with Salt for a while in the 80’s. Jake should really know who Wendy Williams is. Jack Kirby continues to be Phil's example of someone who did work-for-hire in a creative field and didn't get paid. Jake was wrong: Spinderella is credited as a one of the producers on some of Salt-N-Pepa’s albums. But he was right when he guessed that she’s not even a performer on the album that features “Push It”. Here’s a clip from the Salt-N-Pepa Lifetime movie. We talk about the NWA song “I Ain’t Tha 1” (written and performed by Ice Cube). The lyrics are troublesome, but tame in comparison to some of his later more misogynistic songs. Les, Kurt, and Jason have a new show open! And a new Blac Chyna Report intro. It couldn't come at a better time since Kurt quickly recaps an entire episode of Blac Chyna's reality show and Les reveals that he has TWO contacts that have worked with June Squibb and thinks it's only a matter of time before she comes on the podcast (just mathematically speaking). Then it's time for a new Lifetime genre: the black lady entertainer biopic, kicking off with Salt-N-Pepa (though the kicking better be gentle in case Pepa's feet are hurt from her Flintstones car). That roof may be in disrepair, too, after Kurt jumped on it the first time he heard our podcast on a computer while his dad watched Lacey Chabert solve crime and crossword puzzles! Best fun fact learned in this move: the song "Push It" was recorded in a bathroom! Best line in the movie: Salt, while in labor, being told to "push it real good!" Best realization: that if there's ever a biopic about this podcast, Jason would be the Spinderella.  Facebook : alifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com
