Strategist, coach, author, teacher, Carl Massy, helps people find an easier path when it comes to navigating physical and mental health. In this interview we're going to focus on his knowledge of how to navigate relationships, especially the complex ones, in this day and age, upside down, clown world. About Carl: MY STORYI have this condition where I don't like seeing people do life HARDER than it needs to be. It causes words to come to my mouth like: “Stop!!” or “Want to know an easier way?” Having coached 100s of people over the last 16 plus years, and written about physical and mental health for 20 years, I have observed 1000s of times where people make 'bad' choices – unnecessarily. So in my 6th book I got very vocal, specific, and as clear as possible, about where I see 18 of the biggest ‘making life WAY harder' mistakes being made. One ‘mistake' might be okay. But 4-5 mistakes stacked up and life stops being fun or easeful.  I consider myself a life ‘strategist' having been an Australian Army Major and a Consultant to Olympic Games for several years, plus coaching for the last 16 years. I just LOVE to figure sh#t out. Like how to get the most out of X, for the least amount of energy, and with the most fun and growth along the way. www.carlmassy.com www.balicocreation.com  BOOKS: The Guidebook to Happiness, The Guidebook to Optimum Health, The Guidebook to Authentic Success, The Successful Mind, Decision Making Mastery, 18 Ways We Make Life WAY Harder Than It Needs To Be.www.carlmassy.com/books  Bumper music by Liam Martens, aka ツSaiko, sub to him here on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@SA1KO0O1  *** MORE FROM BETH Sign up to learn the archetypes of controlled op, the 31 signs of controlled op, and hear a stage recording of my Anarchapulco workshop

Troy delves into our guest's startup journey, their perception of success, industry reconsideration, and the pivotal stress point during business expansion. They discuss the joys of small business growth, vital entrepreneurial habits, and strategies for team building, encompassing wins, blunders, and invaluable advice. And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? Hillary Walsh believes that the hardest thing in growing a small business is having faith. She emphasizes that while many people want to see results before believing in their vision, true growth requires the ability to create and develop that vision first, which can be challenging without immediate evidence of success. What's your favourite business book that has helped you the most? Hillary Walsh's favorite business book is The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan. She finds it particularly helpful because it distills goals down to actionable steps, allowing individuals to focus on what truly needs to be accomplished each day. This approach has significantly aided her in navigating the growth of her business. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Hillary Walsh recommends the podcast The Successful Mind by David Nagle as a valuable resource for small business growth. She highlights that it challenges common belief systems, which can greatly impact how businesses are run. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of setting core values for both personal and business development as a foundational tool for success. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Hillary Walsh recommends setting your core values as a crucial tool for growing a small business. She emphasizes that understanding both personal and business core values helps in making hiring and firing decisions, guiding interactions with team members and clients, and maintaining alignment within the organization. This framework allows for clearer communication and decision-making, ensuring that everyone is working towards the same principles. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Hillary Walsh advises her past self on day one of starting her business to "buckle up." She reflects that, at the beginning, she had no idea about the challenges ahead, including the need for personal development and the significant changes that growth would bring. She emphasizes that the journey would transform her into a different person, highlighting the unexpected and rewarding experiences that come with building a business. “The victim mindset dilutes the human potential. By not accepting personal responsibility for our circumstances, we greatly reduce our power to change them.” – Steve Maraboli . I all too often hear my clients say things like, “I have no choice with X situation, so I just put my head down and keep working.” This always makes me pause because I have learned that we always have a choice, yet sometimes it may feel like we are victims of our circumstances or situations.  The choices before us may not be easy to see, understand, or navigate, but there is always a choice because we are in control of our own lives, businesses, or careers.  My guest this week is back for a second time, and we are going to explore the notion of how to move from victim to victor.   YouTube: https://youtu.be/nHTMk5ze3vo   About David Neagle:   David is a speaker, best-selling author, founder of the multimillion-dollar global consulting company Life Is Now, Inc., and host of the Business Daily News-ranked podcast The Successful Mind.  Being in the personal and professional development industry for more than 20 years, David has helped tens of thousands of students from across the globe gain confidence and find the right mindset needed to increase their revenue, turning their endeavors into seven- and eight-figure ventures.   How to Get In Touch With David Neagle:   Previous Enlightenment of Change (Episode 329):  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/enlightenment-of-change/id1313299091?i=1000649679058 Website:  https://www.lifeisnowinc.com/ Email:  tia@davidneagle.com Podcast:  The Successful Mind Podcast   Stalk me online! “Decide which direction you are going in and take action. One decision at a time, one moment at a time.” — Akiroq Brost. I chose this quote today because you have heard me end my podcast episodes with the notion that learning new information is a beautiful thing. Doing nothing with that new knowledge and not taking action is a choice you and I get to make every day.     It's not uncommon to hear of people who strongly desire to change their lives, seek knowledge, and then do nothing with the information they've learned. I know I am an action-taker.  Are you an action taker to create the change you are seeking?    Today, I will discuss WHY we sabotage the change we're seeking with my guest so that we can be aware of how it happens. Hopefully, this will help us keep moving forward.    YouTube: https://youtu.be/UPePGHnhCmI   About David Neagl:  David is a speaker, best-selling author, founder of the multimillion-dollar global consulting company Life Is Now, Inc., and host of the Business Daily News-ranked podcast The Successful Mind.  For more than twenty years, David has been in the personal and professional development industry. Listening to your inner voice and paying attention to the signs that something in your life needs to change is crucial for personal growth and transformation. Alcohol consumption is often used as a coping mechanism to escape negative feelings and emotions, but it is important to address the underlying beliefs and thought patterns that contribute to these feelings. The Decide Model of Change, which stands for Desire, Explore, Commit, Identity, Daily Habits, and Effort, can be a helpful framework for making lasting changes and achieving personal goals. It is essential to differentiate between being reactionary and responding to situations. Responding with curiosity and reflection can lead to better outcomes and improved relationships. She reveals how her coaching can help leaders achieve wellness, peak performance, and thriving relationships without relying on alcohol.   Embracing an Optimal Life Kari paints a vivid picture of what it means to embrace an optimal life, considering her extensive experience in guiding others towards it. Listeners will gain valuable insights into creating habits, fostering intentional living, and developing effective leadership skills.   Closing Thoughts: Kari leaves us with an empowering message: "Gray areas don't have to hold you back; they can propel you forward into your optimal life." Connie's motivational quote for today is by – Bill Hybels  “We all have strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots.  In fact, an average person has 3.4 blind spots.” Recently, I spoke with my brother-in-law, and I shared that as I age, I feel like I know less and less and have more blind spots.  I asked him if he thought becoming less intelligent over time was possible.  We both laughed and decided that with age comes wisdom, which allows us to see that we have many blind spots, and by being curious, we can uncover and shine a light on those blind spots to continue to learn and grow.  My final thought is that I must have a ton of wisdom because I feel like I know less and less daily…lol.    YouTube: https://youtu.be/a1sb41By3LM   About David Neagle: David is a speaker, best-selling author, founder of the multimillion-dollar global consulting company Life Is Now, Inc., and host of the Business Daily News ranked podcast - The Successful Mind. Steph Tuss is the CEO of multimillion-dollar global consulting company Life Is Now, Inc., and frequent stand-in cohost of Business Daily News' top-ranked podcast - The Successful Mind. Steph discovered her love for teaching at a young age, beginning her career as an educator. It was during this time that her firstborn child was facing health difficulties, and she decided to completely overhaul their diets to figure out the root cause. She went back to school to pursue a Master's Degree in Holistic Nutrition and went on to open a practice to help families who faced similar challenges. Fast forward a few years, Steph hired David Neagle and his team at Life Is Now, Inc., as her health practice's business coach. As she continued to scale her business, her love for entrepreneurship and growing businesses shined through. She sold her business at the age of 33 and joined Life Is Now, Inc. as the Director of Sales in 2009 before taking on the CEO role less than a decade later in 2016. In her six years at the helm of the company, Steph has become the primary driver behind all of Life Is Now's marketing, business development and brilliant team culture. As a recent empty-nester, she lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband and cattle dog, Jack. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling the country in her Airstream. Here's what we covered on the episode: How Steph Became a Leader As a child, Steph was always told to quit being bossy, which caused her to fly under the radar in grade school, but when she went to college, she became a teacher because it was an acceptable way to be a leader  In 2001, Steph had her first child, who had a lot of health issues - after extensive research, Steph discovered she was suffering from food sensitivities and wanted to teach and share what she discovered with other people Steph went back to school and got her master's degree in holistic nutrition, and began to build her business which grew very quickly The business started to plateau, so Steph hired David as a business coach, who is now her business partner - though his coaching Steph fell more in love with business building and mindset work than with nutrition After 3 years, Steph sold her business to work with David at Life is Now, where she started in sales and is now the CEO Steph talks about what led her to seek out a business coach to help her see what she needed to change to grow her business  How Steph said yes to every opportunity within Life is Now so she could learn all parts of the business and become a part of the leadership After the current CEO left, Steph took on the responsibilities of the CEO without her role changing - one day, she walked into David's office and told him he needed to make her the CEO, and he did  Now, Steph isn't just the CEO; she is also a partner in Life is Now    Establishing Good Culture + Team Synergy  One of the first big changes Steph made as CEO was establishing psychological safety because of the previous CEO, people were scared to share their opinions As a CEO, you have to model what you want to see other people do; that means being transparent about what you're learning, telling them when you don't feel confident, sharing when you make mistakes, and celebrating the good Steph would host workshops on how to give to receive feedback to get people comfortable with conflict because businesses are here to solve problems, and you need people to share their ideas to come up with solutions If you want to know more about psychological safety, which is the most important when it comes to developing culture, Steph recommends the book, The Fearless Organization by Amy Edmondson Next, Steph shares that they established a clear vision by taking the team through a vision process that's outlined in Cameron Herold's book, Vivid Vision When you follow this vision process, Steph says you'll usually hit your vision goals within one or two years because it creates focus synergy for your team  Big lessons Steph has learned are that mistakes are required and to not take results personally   By creating a visionary leadership assessment, Steph was able to see that there are 4 different types of leaders: Catalyst, Charismatic, Limitless, and Legacy Leaders  Go to lifeisnowinc.com, and you can find their visionary leadership assessment  Steph talks about the rebrand they recently went through that switched the company from being about a person to being about their ideal client  How a lot of business owners get stuck doing tasks that shouldn't be on their plate because they aren't good at delegating  Check out the Life is Now Website and connect with Steph on Instagram for lots of free industry and business resources   Links mentioned: Life Is Now Inc.
