It's Closing weekend at Emerald Downs this Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17. The season that began on May 6 concludes early Sunday evening after an 11-race card that will decide many honorees among horse and human participants. Categories in the balance are Horse of the Meeting, Older Filly/Mare, both Juvenile sex divisions and Top Washington-bred. The three stakes on Sunday – Washington Cup Filly and Mare, Muckleshoot Tribal Classic and Gottstein Futurity will decide many honors. Joining Joe, Vince and Bill are top handicapper John Lindley and jockey agent David “Marbles” Singer. Lindley, the handicapper of “Parker's” tip sheet and the author of emeralddowns.com's “Trip Notes,” has had another successful year. His knowledge, experience, recall and attention to detail has led him to success year-in, year-out from Longacres days forward. Singer made book for the leading rider again this year, Alex Cruz. It's the ninth consecutive season he's done that at EmD. He also agented for runner-up Luis Negron and fourth in the standings Kevin Radke.

After coming back from our recent vacation as a family in Bay Harbor Islands/Surfside, FL and feeling so relaxed, I sat down and wrote down what I would share with another Mom before heading on her family vacation. Because like many moms, the first time I went on vacation I thought, "It's vacation!?, so how annoying can it be already to be going with a baby?" and "I can't wait to show him the world." Well, we did have a great time showing him the world on our first vacation.  We do have beautiful memories, but honestly I did NOT come back feeling relaxed, chill and ready to hustle. I came back yearning for pre-baby vacation time. So, this second trip I decided I was going to learn from my own mistakes I made on our first trip and put things into action to make sure we had a relaxing, enjoyable vacation. After a long winter, I needed to chill out under the sun and I had to make it happen.  So, here I am with my trip notes to share with you the tips that allowed me to have a relaxing time and the (new) lessons I learnt that I will put into practice for the next trip. Something I talk about: What to be aware of when booking an airbnb, what to do in the restaurant when your child is inpatient, and how to communicate with your spouse in order to make sure you both have a relaxing time.  Make sure to listen to this before you take your next trip, heck even your next day trip. Here's a packing list to make your preparation relaxing too: http://bit.ly/babypackinglistminimaliststyle This podcast is made to share with you what no other friend, mom, or women naturally share with each other.
