However, plenty of racing took place as well! Scotty McLaughlin earned his first victory of 2023 at Barber in a tough battle versus pole-sitter Romain Grosjean and teammate Will Power. Josh lights the fire with his take on Ross Chastain after continued argy bargy involving the championship runner up from 2022. Formula 1 at Azerbaijan saw Sergio Perez take his second win of 2023 after a fortuitous full safety car after teammate Max Verstappen pitted. The Red Bull duo finished 1-2 with Charles Leclerc on the podium after starting on pole. Josh and Phil cover their respective NFL teams drafts and their thoughts on the other teams work as rookie mini camps and OTA's take place. A couple in Perth's northern suburbs have made a desperate plea to thieves to return their dog, which was stolen from their front yard on Friday night. Nine-year-old Mitzy is believed to be the victim of a dognapping after security cameras caught a man luring the pet away from the home. The footage showed a man driving a ute stop by the home when he spots the little dog. He then gets out of the vehicle and whistles at Mitzy. The dog then disappears from view. The incident occurred just before 8.30pm on Friday in Sinagra, in the City of Wanneroo. The thief was believed to be driving a white Commodore ute with a black roof, a hard tonneau cover and aftermarket exhaust. Sunrise correspondent Matt Tinney has the details. The long-awaited upsurge in the Perth market is upon us. Perth has transformed from recovery to boom in the space of a few months, with a doubling in the number of suburbs with rising markets. Our Summer 2020-21 survey of sales activity identified 59 rising suburbs across Perth, the highest in the six years we have been conducting our quarterly surveys. But our latest (Autumn 2021) survey finds that the number has doubled to 118 suburbs, a remarkable change in just three months. This uplift in buyer activity is being reinforced by other data, including very low vacancy rates, rising rents and increasing levels of price growth. This avalanche of strong, positive statistics coming out of the Perth market coincides with the publication of our new edition of the Top 5 Perth Hotspots report. It reveals that rising markets are spread right across the Perth metropolitan area and include a broad range of price points. But the greatest momentum is at the affordable end of the market, with strength also evident in middle-market areas. The LGA of Wanneroo in the far north has 14 rising suburbs, driven by first-home buyers and other owner-occupiers on a budget. Many are suburbs with median prices in the $300,000s and $400,000s. The City of Stirling, which regularly features in these reports, also has 14 rising suburbs. Stirling is a middle-ring LGA with a wide range of suburbs with different price points. The significant upturn in sales activity recently is starting to translate into price performance. In the past 12 months, 60% of Perth suburbs have recorded growth in their median house prices, but in the most recent quarter 78% have had price increases. I expect this momentum in Perth prices to continue and it’s noteworthy that most forecasters expect Perth house prices to increase 10% or 15% in the next 12 months. To find out the best places to buy in this strongly rising market, get yourself a copy our new Top 5 Perth Hotspots report and have a read today.

Lance contacted Gareth Parker to raise his concerns over a new McDonald’s store being built in Tapping which his property, along with other residents backs onto. The land that the McDonalds is being built on has been raised to the tops of the resident’s fences and their concern is that once the McDonald’s is built they will have absolutely no privacy. Lance says that he is devastated and that they have requested to the City of Wanneroo that the developers need to build a retaining wall to help block out noise and retain their privacy. Mark Dickson, Director of Planning with the City of Wanneroo says they have acknowledged the concerns of the residents and are working with the developers to try and find a solution. The daughter of UK & Irish immigrants Jackie Jarvis (T: @Jarvis_Jackie) (nee Mullins) grew up in in the northern Perth suburb of Wanneroo, where she spent her teenage years working on the vegetable growing “market gardens” during her school holidays. After declaring to her family, that she would “never work in agriculture again” Jackie started her career in the finance industry where she met her husband Matt while they were both working in the South West. The couple relocated back to Perth, both got jobs on St George’s Tce, bought a house in the city with no plans to ever leave. Matt called her in 1996 saying he had been offered a work transfer to Margaret River and Jackie agreed she would go for 2 years. By 1998 the couple had sold their Perth home, had their first baby, planted a vineyard; and Jackie declared she would never return to Perth. Jackie returned to off-farm work when Ashlee started school and built new career in as an expert in Workforce Development for the Agricultural sector. Her work in the area of attracting resettled refugees to work in agriculture saw her named as the 2014 WA Rural Woman of the Year and National Runner-Up. More recently Jackie has served as a Principal Policy Adviser to the on. Alannah MacTiernan MLC Minister for Regional Development; Agriculture & Food.
