We know that there is a direct connection between the health of your gut and the function of the skin - but the first thing often spoken about is probiotics or the role of the gut microbiome. There are many different facets of the digestive system which we analyse when it comes to identifying the driver of dysfunction in the gut that can be impacting a clients skin presentation. Having the tools to identify the signs/symptoms of the gut-skin axis needing some extra support is just the first step and screening for infection is the next. In this episode, Jacinta covers: 2:14 - Where does gut related acne appear on the face? 3:50 - Do you tick the boxes for gut dysfunction? 7:30 - Impact SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) has on nutrient absorption and skin health 9:15 - SIBO link with histamine and the direct impact on sebum production (Link to podcast with Joanne?) 10:30 - Bowel motions, particularly constipation and skin health 14:25 - Gut microbiome axis impact on skin health You can find more information about our references below: Advanced Acne Training for Skin Therapists - https://orendawomenshealth.com.au/clinic-education Orenda Women's Health Bookings 15 x minute Discovery Calls - https://booking.simpleclinic.net/#/booking/oAA/services Music by Wavecont, https://www.wavecont.com/free-download/Licensed under creative commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/

Have you been prescribed doxycyline for your skin before but not exactly sure how it may be working? (or possibly not working) or maybe you're a skin therapist and you've seen so many clients being prescribed doxycyline and want to confidently be able to explain to them the mechanism of action. In this podcast, Jacinta goes through the nitty gritty of everything you need to know with Doxycycline - from understanding the exact mechanism of action in some of the most common skin conditions like acne & rosacea - to how to support yourself whilst on doxycycline/transitioning off. Get the pen & paper ready fam. In this episode, Jacinta covers: 2:26 - What is doxycycline? 5:49 - How does doxycycline help with acne? 8:53 - How does doxycycline help with rosacea? 15:48 - Side effects and what to be aware of with doxycycline 21:34 - What to do whilst on doxycycline You can find more information about our references below: Advanced Acne Training for Skin Therapists - https://orendawomenshealth.com.au/clinic-education Orenda Women's Health Bookings 15 x minute Discovery Calls - https://booking.simpleclinic.net/#/booking/oAA/services Music by Wavecont, https://www.wavecont.com/free-download/Licensed under creative commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/
Two of the most common phrases we hear from our clients with acne in their initial consultations are "I've had everything tested and everything is within range" or we hear "I've just been prescribed the pill, doxycyline and roaccutane but I actually haven't had any testing done to figure out what's going on". Acne is an extremely multi-faceted condition and the answer you need so you can break the viscous cycle of medications and multiple skin treatments is to actually find the cause of what is going on.. and the answers are in your pathology. If there is anything Jacinta is super passionate about when it comes to acne, it's testing and not guessing. There are so many factors to consider, such as the types of markers being tested, the time and day of your cycle they were tested and the reference range as to which they are compared and interpreted. For example, did you know that the reference ranges for healthy thyroid function on a blood test actually include the data of individuals who have a thyroid disease? So a reference range which is classified as a healthy demographic, may actually include the statistics of individuals with a diagnosed condition (which you are essentially being compared against). But no stress, Jacinta goes through everything you need to investigate to understand the cause of your acne including: 5:59 - Basic biochemistry, liver function and nutritional status testing for acne 10:46 - Metabolic function testing for acne - How do actually identify insulin resistance 14:00 - Hormone testing for acne - Which markers and what day in your cycle 21:43 - Assessment of your stress response 24:49 - Testing the gut You can find more information about our references below: Advanced Acne Training for Skin Therapists - https://orendawomenshealth.com.au/clinic-education Healthy Skin from Within The Acne Edition - https://orendawomenshealth.com.au/skin-from-within-acne-edition Orenda Women's Health Bookings - https://booking.simpleclinic.net/#/booking/oAA/services Music by Wavecont, https://www.wavecont.com/free-download/Licensed under creative commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/
Acne is one of the most chronic and common skin conditions that affects so many individuals. A survey completed in 2021, revealed that individuals in Australia can spend approximately $3000 in 6 months just trying to self-treat their acne, with little to no long term change. Working 1:1 with hundreds of women who have gone through the roller coaster of self prescribing supplements, back and forth on prescriptive medications and trying all of the latest skin care - Jacinta knows the hurdles you have to jump to actually get long lasting results in your skin. If you feel like you're sick of going back and forth between treatments, prescriptions, supplements and want to actually figure out the missing link with why you can't get long lasting results with your acne - then Jacinta is going to provide you with all of the juicy details you need. In this podcast, Jacinta covers: Top 5 reasons why you aren't seeing long lasting results in your acne Why over the counter supplements aren't doing the trick How to actually find the answer as to what is going on What the missing link is to achieve long last results The checklist you need to run through to see where you need to direct your energy and money You can find more information about our references below: Advanced Acne Training for Skin Therapists - https://orendawomenshealth.com.au/clinic-education Healthy Skin from Within The Acne Edition - https://orendawomenshealth.com.au/skin-from-within-acne-edition Orenda Women's Health Bookings - https://booking.simpleclinic.net/#/booking/oAA/services Music by Wavecont, https://www.wavecont.com/free-download/Licensed under creative commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/
The pill essentially suppresses natural hormone production from the ovaries and does an excellent job at reducing the symptoms of hormone acne WHILST you're on the pill. But what about when it's time for you to come off the pill? Or when you want to actually get to the root cause? In this episode, Jacinta fly's solo and talks you through the causes of post-pill acne and the 5 key areas you need to optimise to reduce your likelihood of post-pill acne returning once you come off. All of the tips and tricks to help you transition off the pill so you can control that post-pill androgen surge! In this episode, Jacinta shares: What is post pill acne and why does it happen? The Barbagallo duo take on processing that Trent Dilfer is finally right about the Patriots, just 6 years later. They discuss a Patriots rebuild, trading away Stephon Gilmore, other veterans, and what the plan should be moving forward. They break down the rest of Week 7, and also react to the breaking Michael Thomas trade rumors. Also, Joe dunks on Nick Saban for being a trash human this weekend. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Tropical Sensation by Mike Leite @mikeleite Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0 Free Download / Stream: bit.ly/-tropical-sensation Music promoted by Audio Library youtu.be/Hc6r06k-ADA --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/roundtable-podcast/message

The French drummer for West Australian rocker Tame Impala, Julien Barbagallo is also a singer/songwriter who creates his own form of what he calls 'manicured pop' music. We talk about how April March's 1999 album turned him from a Britpop fan into an appreciator of French creativity, how to appreciate music when you can't understand the music, his love for intricate production and arrangements, why he moved to Melbourne but still writes about France, why Tame Impala's "Currents" is such a great album, how much freedom he has to be creative with the drum parts Kevin Parker wrote and how he got the rarest of all things - an apology from Oasis.
