This Week In White Supremacy 1HOOD throws back to an intense and unfiltered discussion with their favorite guest, Dante King. Broadcasting from the 25th White Privilege Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this April 2024 dialogue centers on Dante's direct confrontation of white supremacy and the backlash he faces for his unapologetic stance about the complexities of Black identity, the inherent anti-Blackness in white standards, and the psychological warfare against Black people. Adding to the richness of the discussion is, the legendary poet Jessica Care Moore who joins to share her experiences growing up in Detroit, dealing with anti-Black institutional pressures, and her revolutionary work in poetry and Black publishing with reflections on navigating cancel culture, fostering Black family liberation, and the importance of building lasting Black institutions --To help us build liberated communities through arts, education, and social justice visit our website 1hood.org to purchase your official 1HOOD apparel or consider making a tax-deductible donation to 1Hood Media. --WATCH THE SHOW: youtube.com/@twiws--FOLLOW 1HOOD youtube.com/@1hoodfacebook.com/1hoodmediainstagram.com/1hoodmediax.com/1hood--About:This Week In White Supremacy is The 1Hood podcast discussing the cultural effects and weekly injustices surrounding white supremacy; through intelligent, insightful commentary and often comedic conversations this podcast is geared towards adults who want to digest the latest news and events with humor and Hip-Hop.--DISCLAIMERS: The views and opinions expressed during this presentation are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 1Hood Media, 1Hood Power, and or its affiliates. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the PDX Housing Solidarity Project. Allison Brinkhorst and Chirona Silverstein are two of the White members of this collective of “Portland-based activists and organizers working to redistribute housing-related wealth and privilege to interrupt racialized disparities in homeownership and inequitable cycles of intergenerational wealth.” Gus has been in Washington state for eons now, which is about a three hour drive to Portland, Oregon. With a population of 635,000, the “Rose City” is nearly 74% White, with less than 6% black people dispersed throughout the town. The state of Oregon was once a Racially Restricted Region/Sundown Town, where the state constitution prohibited black residents. Deliberate White Supremacist actions - which include engineering exorbitant costs of living, mean that even now, black people struggle to live and thrive in this city. We'll discuss PDX Housing Solidarity's work to counter racism in housing and if they're abreast of the recent incidents of White Terrorism in the area - including the savage beating of privileged black male Darell Preston. In a random blast from the past, Chirona mentioned that she's repeat attendee of Dr. Eddie Moore Jr.'s White Privilege Conference. Apparently, Dr. Moore did not call White Chirona "crazy" or verbalize a desire to bash her in the face as he did with his black brother Gus T. It's happeningTuesday night, Sister Arlene and Brother Seth invite the public and co-host to the making of Seth's upcoming book, "The systemic lies of white supremacy are our world's ruling religion." This is the first of a series of Tuesday night shows. The system of white supremacy is one of the most successful tools of the enemy. While many are waking up and resisting the notion that so-called whites are superior in any way in thought, speech, or behavior, millions are obliviously serving and giving their strength to this idolatry. On December 20, 2022, from 8 to 10 p.m. (CST), tune in. To listen or chat online, go to this link: http://tobtr.com/12179081

Stevie Lee is one of a kind – often described as the “glue”, he's a connector, a visionary, a politician for good. The Executive Director at Horizon Community School at Marin City and the Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Marin Horizon School* in Mill Valley, California, Stevie blends worlds by stepping into his power as a mover and a shaker. Listen to Stevie talk about lessons he learned as a young man coaching sports in Marin City and how his leadership style developed by helping people see the potential they have in themselves and celebrating the little victories. How does Stevie Lee define leadership? Hear him share his idea of leadership as seeing what needs to be done and doing it, how sometimes going rogue is necessary, and the difference between collaboration and partnership. We talk about being focused on the mission and staying true to personal values as a way to create transformational leadership – especially when creating equitable education. Find out how Stevie uses this clarity to define the past 40 years not as work, but rather as “the thing I'm supposed to be doing”. *Full Disclosure: My husband, Bill Perrine, is the Head of School at Marin Horizon School. I’m here today to bring you a very special episode that I recorded with my amazing friend Jennifer Blaine. If you’re a long-time listener, you’ll know that Jennifer has been on the show twice before, but this is my first time getting to interview her. We had the most amazingly deep conversation about creativity that had us both in tears by the end. I honestly didn’t want it to end and I think we could have talked for at least another hour, but I am so so proud of what we managed to capture here. I hope this conversation gives you good things to think about if you’re stuck at home waiting out the coronavirus like me and everybody else. This episode is for the artists and creatives out there, especially the artists like me who sometimes struggle for a reason to keep making art. It’s for writers who have lost the plot, painters who are procrastinating and actors who aren’t sure if they can do one more audition. So strap your headphones on extra tight and enjoy the show! About Jennifer Blaine Jennifer Blaine has been performing one-woman shows for 25 years. Her original writing, performing, and comedy delve into serious and socially relevant issues and provides audiences the opportunity to unite in laughter. Jennifer has opened for George Carlin, and performed with Chris Rock and Joe Piscopo. She has worked with iconic actors such as Glenda Jackson, Laura Linney, Joanne Woodward, and Paul Newman. She was featured on ABC’s Philly After Midnight: Women Comedians and has lent her voice to hundreds of voiceover projects. According to the Philadelphia Daily News “not even Sybil can compete with Blaine’s cast of characters. Her comic genius is like Lily Tomlin and Tracey Ullman.” Jennifer was the resident Theatre Arts Instructor at the Showstoppers program at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts from 2013-2018 in which she created four original plays on topical issues from bullying to civil rights. She produced the “5,000 Women” festival, showcasing artists and social activists, in 2011 and 2012 and in Philadelphia in 2014. Her multiple FringeArts solo works include Sorry, White Flight, Hearing Voices, and Ridiculous and Dirty Joke which she created with Vashti Dubois, founder of The Colored Girls Museum. Blaine has toured her solo work throughout the country to colleges and theatre festivals -- highlights include The OpenStage of Harrisburg, The White Privilege Conference, PIFA, and the Annenberg Center for the Arts. She currently performs The Vicissitudes of Travel, which depicts a family traveling through brain surgery, in art galleries, museums, theaters, and recently performed The Vicissitudes for Jefferson’s Health and Humanities department and Wesleyan University. Empower by Example - Episode 8 Michelle Walker, Walker Philanthropic Consulting, https://www.walkerphilanthropic.com Awareness Excitement Engagement Michelle and I recap the articles, conferences, films and studies have come out regarding implicit bias and gender equity since we last spoke. We also give listeners some background information about how the mission of The Rock Family Foundation was determined, and how we hear the same question over and over: Why girls??? Specifically, why young women of color, and why these specific transition points, county placements and referrals? From foster care to juvenile justice - how can we empower these girls to transition to a sustainable life? Let’s dive in! There has been a big buzz in October 2019 around gender equity. From Melinda Gates to a study by the Women’s Philanthropy Institute, we are finding that women and girls are funded as an afterthought. 1.6% of philanthropic contributions in the US goes to women and girls specific programs. $338 Billion total contributions, $6.3 Billion total for women and girls. We discuss what we can all be doing to support gender and racial equity in our day to day lives. Michelle speaks to what needs to change in the philanthropic communities in order to further racial and gender equity. We should consider who holds the power, what systems are we working in, and how can we highlight these inequities in the actual work. How do more women and more women of color find themselves at the table, or how they can set their own table? How can we begin the work that you know needs to be done. How can we change the systems? Can we change the rules or replace the rule makers? We hope that we gave you a lot to think about, from statistics and percentages, to ways you can make change right where you are today. Join us in the Empower by Example Facebook group to continue the discussion and share you ideas and tips with a network of people who are making the moves and changing the systems each day. Topics include: The Jordan Peterson/Cathy Newman debacle. Toronto's Ryerson U is quickly earning a name for itself, and not a good one. KJ-52 and Chunjay sit down for coffee in Florida and reflect on their experiences in hip-hop and the Christian hip-hop subgenre. Little Cuban cafe, on KJ discovering Cuban colada coffee. KJ does not enjoy pour over coffee. Chunjay eating a Cubano sandwich. On what KJ-52 is up to: crowdfunding new album, videos, documentary. Adding public speaking to rapping. “I’m coming from the perspective of a 42 year old man. I’m not coming from where I was when I was 25 and came into the industry….I’m an old MacBook Pro with updated software.” KJ-52’s struggle after his record deal with Essential ended. Shopping to Nashville record labels. Ended up with Tooth & Nail/Uprok. KJ on Flicker Records: “Then they turned round and signed you guys, and I was so ticked off.” “Revenge of the Nerds” by KJ-52 with Pigeon John from the KJ-52 Remixed album. On figuring out his niche, and finding a way forward. On catching criticism for things he did. On his “backpack rapper” origins with Sons of Intellect and Shadow of the Locust. “I always looked at every record as ‘starting over.’” On his platform, not just “youth group rapper.” History: Goatee led him to Todd Collins. Todd took him to Essential. On the KJ-52/Royal Ruckus tour of Maui in 2001. On Royal Ruckus: “You two were the most interesting, hilarious, weird people I’d ever hung out with in a long time. And I think because of that, I was like, ‘I’m really drawn to these guys, cause they’re so bizarre, but so like, genuinely themselves.’ And I think that resonated with me.” On getting sunburnt in Hawaii. “Cheese Rappers in Paradise” (Demo) by Royal Ruckus from Seventeen Candles. Available free at noisetrade.com/royalruckus. On crossing paths with each other in Nashville, TN and Bakersfield, CA. “I’ve played in Bakersfield so many times.” Headlining the “White Privilege Conference” in the middle of Iowa. Awkward experiences on tour. “Moment of Zen” by Royal Ruckus from The Summer of the Cicadas LP. Listen for KJ-52 and T-Bone reference in the song. “I helped Kirk Cameron get through the priority line at Delta.” “Shipwreck” by Cookbook and Uno.Mas from The Robertson Bullies EP. “Once you’re about 10 years in [the music industry], you become irrelevant.” On a near-career shipwreck. Paraphrase: I went from getting a couple grand shows to getting $250 a show locally, if I was lucky. Finding alternate ways to survive and stay in his own lane. Graffiti. School assemblies. Being a pastor. Rapping still. “It’s like I wrecked the ship, took the wood, and built a house.” “Fight Music” by KJ-52 featuring Lecrae and Propaganda, from the album, Mental. On KJ’s lack of facial hair. KJ loved street tacos in Baja, Mexico, and Korean-fusion tacos in San Francisco. KJ recommended podcasts: What She Wants (formerly Ask Women), Sexy Marriage Radio, Stuck in the 80s, and The Cypher Show. KJ on women: they don’t want men to be nice, they want ALPHA. “I realized how technically challenged some of my fanbase is. So I was like, ‘How can I make this as simple as possible?’” KJ52 Podcast. @kj52 at twitter and facebook, @kj52instagram for insta. “Let me say, and I dig your podcast, too. Because I like how you explore back stories.” On having something to say, and less to lose. On having John Reuben on his documentary and not being able to use it. “It Takes Two” by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock was the game changer song for KJ-52. The second would be “Welcome to the Terradome” by Public Enemy. Third: “Ain’t No Joke” by Eric B. and Rakim. De La Soul: “Me Myself and I.” Shouts to Propaganda, Pigeon John, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, Pillar, Pax 217, Rebecca St. James, producer Tedd T., Todd Collins, Flynn Adam, Krum (Playdough), Jesus Shack, Spirit West Coast, Kirk Cameron, Tako Cheena in Orlando, NF vs. Lecrae album sales, John Reuben, Cookbook from LA Symphony, Jars of Clay, more.

A speaker at last weekend's White Privilege Conference blamed all the world's ills, from violence in the Middle East to global warming, on Christians. So what else is new? Also: Obama administration trying to hide bankster takeover of housing market; Obamacare could be encouraging abuse of powerful painkillers; UNESCO tries to whitewash Jewish link to Temple Mount; and Hamas official says bus bombing Monday was the first of a series.

Ep. 53: LaVera Crawley and Alec MacLeod are an interracial couple. LaVera is a African-American doctor, who grew up in Cincinnati, received her undergraduate and medical degrees at Historically Black Colleges, worked on a Navajo reservation as a M.D., and now serves as a Palliative Care Chaplain. In the field of medicine and ethics, LaVera is internationally known for her work on health disparities for palliative and end-of-life (EOL) care. She served as an expert on racial, ethnic, and cultural issues for the 2004 NIH State-of-the-Science of EOL Care Consensus Conference; was commissioned by the California Healthcare Foundation to conduct an in-depth summary of EOL health care delivery for California’s multi-ethnic, multicultural, and racially diverse population; and served a 3-year appointment as an ethics advisor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She was honored with the Soros Faculty Scholars Award for the Open Society Institute's Project on Death in America in 1999-2001, The Howard Temin Award from the National Cancer Institute in 2003-2008, and the Stanford University Faculty Fellows Award in 2007. After a 16+ year career at Stanford as an empirical bioethicist, LaVera Crawley embarked on a new career in the art of spiritual companionship, bringing together her work in medicine, ethics, social justice, teaching, research, and public health with her longstanding interest in spirituality. After completing her clinical pastoral education (CPE) in chaplaincy, she began serving in her current role as a Palliative Care Chaplain at the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. She is also in training to become an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Certified Supervisor. Inspired by the Schwartz Center’s Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program for Healthcare Providers, LaVera’s goal as a Chaplain Supervisor is to create and implement a CPE Fellows Program for physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to enhance provider skills and competencies in addressing the spiritual, existential, and religious needs of patients and families facing life-threatening illnesses. Her husband, Alec MacLeod, is a White man of Dutch an English extraction, who grew up in rural, upstate New York, lec MacLeod is a Professor in Undergraduate Studies. He received his undergraduate education at Hampshire College where he studied philosophy and fine arts. Alec also holds a Master of Fine Arts in sculpture from Stanford University (1983) and has studied information science at the University of California at Berkeley. His primary areas of preparation are in the studio arts, art theory and information science. He is a practicing visual artist whose work has been exhibited nationally. Additionally, his work in the area of cultural studies includes the visual culture of the internet (especially implicit assumptions in the design of graphical user interfaces), representations of "the Other" in U.S. colloquial English, and visual explorations of theories of perception. As an educator, Alec has used participatory collaborative methods of inquiry to explore the ways in which pedagogical approaches can assist learners in examining and changing their assumptions about race and ethnicity. He has trained as a multicultural trainer at Equity Institute and Visions, Inc. A member of a research collective, the European-American Collaborative Challenging Whiteness, he has participated in an inquiry into white identity and ways in which white people can become more aware of their identity and its implications. The group has presented its work at educational conferences and recently authored an article entitled "White on White: Communicating about Race and White Privilege with Critical Humility" in Understanding & Dismantling Privilege: the Journal of the White Privilege Conference. Alec has over twenty-five years of experience as a facilitator of learning in higher education as a classroom teacher and as an administrator. He was a member of the design team for the undergraduate cohort based degree completion program and the inaugural director of that program. In addition to his interdisciplinary courses in the Undergraduate program, Alec teaches courses in visual thinking, creativity, and visual culture. Listen as LaVera and Alec speak with Alex about their marriage, their careers, and their views on race and diversity. (White) privilege. A Georgetown University student in Washington, D.C. and his roommate were held at gunpoint and mugged recently. The student wrote a column for the campus paper stating he isn't angry. In fact, he "can hardly blame (the muggers)." "Who am I to stand from my perch of privilege, surrounded by million-dollar homes and paying for a $60,000 education, to condemn these young men as thugs". Friedfield writes the inequality gap in Washington, D.C., fuels these kinds of crimes. Meanwhile, earlier this year, a taxpayer-supported conference on White Privilege, took place in Wisconsin with the objective partly stated as "whites need to acknowledge and work through the negative historical implications of 'Whiteness' and create for ourselves a transformed identity as White people committed to equity and social change." Phone and email invitation to the contact person at the White Privilege Conference to appear on this program received no reply. So what is "white privilege" about? Guest: Ron Miller: Associate dean, Liberty University. Author: Musings from Uncle Tom's Porch. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In the late 1990's, feminist and anti-racist activist Peggy McIntosh described white privilege as "an invisible weightless knapsack of assurances, tools, maps, guides, codebooks, passports, visas, clothes, compass, emergency gear, and blank checks." The invisible knapsack metaphor persists today as a way of introducing people to the concept of privilege. It comes in many forms - male, white, straight, cis, able-bodied, and other identities all confer certain benefits - but the suggestion of privilege can spark emotional denial. On this week's show we talk about white privilege and how it manifests itself in our culture, with Dr. David Owen. He's an associate professor of philosophy at UofL, and is on the local planning committee for the White Privilege Conference, coming to Louisville this Spring. In our Juicy Fruit Segment, we bring you the story of a hairstylist in Prince George's County in Maryland, who was fired when his HIV-positive status was discovered by his boss. We also dissect Sarah Silverman's controversial equal pay video (and the enduring phenomenon of the celebrity non-apology-apology), and how gay-friendly comics often miss the mark when they stray into race- or gender-related humor. And finally, we celebrate National Dessert Month! Jai goes through a list of the most popular desserts in the US and we try to guess what they are. Did we agree with the choices? Let's just say this week marks the first time the phrase "rot-gut dessert" was ever uttered on Strange Fruit. This week, Letitia Wong joins Melissa Pellew as we tackle the topic of the growing "White Privilege" Movement. Is there a such thing as white priviliege in America? Is this just a game of divide and conquer? How are we to look at issues of race and racial reconciliation biblically? What could be the impact on the mobility and dignity of minorities if white privilege theory becomes a common mindset in America? Will the degeneration into tribalism give people the proper view of the human person? Or, will people become rats with different colored fur? How easily will people of different tribes succumb to real power by others and become enslaved? On the air with us to discuss this topic will be Rev. C.L Bryant. Rev. Bryant, an outspoken pastor, civil rights leader, and producer of Runaway Slave, a documentary about the race to free the black community from the slavery of tyranny and progressive policies. Rev. Bryant, a former NAACP chapter president in Garland, TX, who has appeared on Fox News, CNN, and is a fellow with Freedom Works, abandoned the NAACP which he felt was more about political posturing, and less about civil rights. As a former Democratic Radical who escaped the bondage of Progressivism and denounced the shackles of entitlements, he has committed himself to helping others secure the blessings of liberty that are guaranteed by the Constitution with his new found conservative values. This discussion is sure to be very enlightening and engaging so you do not want to miss it!

Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. makes his return visit to The Context of White Supremacy. Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. is the founder of the White Privilege Conference - a high-level diversity conference dealing with issues of white privilege and oppression. Gus participated in the 11th annual conference in La Crosse, WI. There were several constructive aspects to White Privilege Conference(WPC) 12 - Zack Casey & Jaqueline Battalora to name two, and there were a litany of conditions that warranted concern, consternation. Gus and Dr. Moore will engage in a courteous, challenging dialog about Racism/White Supremacy, the White Privilege Conference and sexual intercourse between White people and non-whites. We will elaborate on Dr. Moore's Theory of Incapability and Gus' theory of SADD. I suspect this broadcast will demonstrate the incalculable importance of definitions. Saint Xavier University's Jacqueline Battalora, Ph.D. will share her views on the System of White Supremacy. Professor Battalora was one of the few constructive, honest speakers in the midst of extraordinary confusion and deception in La Crosse, WI for the 11th annual White Privilege Conference. She conducted a masterful, surprisingly candid workshop entitled: The Invention of White People in Law. Unless Gus is mistaken, she has concluded that the White Racial Classification (The System of White Supremacy) was established to preserve and sanctify individuals who are classified /accepted as White - loosely correlated to phenotypical features of lighter complexion people. We will ask her to provide a scholarly, comprehensive explanation of WHY: White = Racist/White Supremacist. We will also request that she highlight the tendency of White people to celebrate/memorialize previous acts of White Supremacy and why everyone is required to practice and/or support White Supremacy in some form. Her theory is eerily similar to that of Dr. Frances Cress Welsing's theory of White Genetic Annihilation. We will ask if Professor Battalora is familiar with her work. [It might be helpful to listen to the previous broadcast with Ian F. Haney Lopez. He authored White By Law and corroborates much of Dr. Welsing's & Professor Battalora's theories.] #TheCOWS13 INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE: 564943#
