There's plenty of information out there on the health challenges that accompany being overweight, but being underweight comes with its own set of challenges, especially on a fertility journey. In today's episode, a previous guest, Nicole, visits us to talk about her journey with weight gain and nutrition. She gets real about the role of being underweight as a factor in her fertility journey and tells us about the window you need to be in to support your fertility journey. We touch on false perceptions around weight and health, and how receiving positive feedback on being thin can have a negative impact. Nicole introduces us to the metaphor of a spider web to illustrate food fears and food avoidance and gives us some insights into her own history with food aversions. Next, we dive into the essential role of fat in satiety, and the dangers of faking your health, before exploring the impact that peers and parents can have on food perceptions. Nicole gives us her thoughts on control as a driving force for food choices, the power of being open-minded, and why magazines, shows, and social media should also be showing how diets work. Self-talk is our next topic, and we discuss its impact on those around us, as well as why we all know what it means to be willing to pursue something, for ourselves. We talk about why you should get rid of everything that encourages poor habits, until you don't have to and what it means to change your perspective to eat intuitively. In closing, Nicole tells us why it is important for her to be an open book and wants to help others, and why she is so thankful for the progress she has made on her journey. Key Points From This Episode:The lack of information around being underweight and the impact on fertility. How being underweight was a factor in Nicole's fertility journey. The role of weight and the window you have to be in to support your fertility journey.False perceptions around weight and health. The metaphor of a spider web to illustrate food fears and food avoidance. The role of fat in satiety.Nicole's lush, thick hair as a testament to her good health. Why eating low-calorie, ‘filler' foods, doesn't support nutrition. The impact that peers and parents can have on food perceptions and over or under-eating.Control as a driving force for food choices and the power of being open-minded about food. Why magazines, shows, and social media should also be showing how things work.Thoughts on self-talk and how it influences those around you. Why we all know what ‘willing to pursue it' means for ourselves.Nicole's sister's positive perspective on weight fluctuations.Changing your approach to eat intuitively. Why Nicole considers herself to be an open book and wants to help others. Why Nicole is thankful for her progress.Links Mentioned in Today's Episode:RMA of New YorkIntuitive Eating by Evelyn TriboleMount Sinai HospitalFertility Forward on Instagram

Do you ever feel like no matter how much “work” you do on yourself, you still wind up stuck in the same patterns? Maybe you’ve read all the books, attended countless therapy sessions and done a lot of introspection — and I mean, a LOT — but the changes you want to make just aren’t happening. Maybe you feel like you know all the answers, but you can’t get out of the start and stop cycle you’re caught up in. If you’ve ever felt this way… you’re not alone. In this episode I’m joined by Dr. Nicole LePera, author, psychologist, and creator of the popular Instagram account @the.holistic.psychologist, where she shares her journey of inner healing and how we can all start to make real change in our lives. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Nicole often found herself frustrated by the limitations of traditional psychotherapy. She wanted more for her patients—and herself— so she began developing a united philosophy of mental, physical and spiritual health that equips people with the tools necessary to heal themselves. She shares the life-changing results she discovered along her holistic psychology journey to nearly 4 million “self-healers” on Instagram, through her programs and with her new book “How to Do the Work”. In this episode you’ll hear: Why Nicole made the shift from being a therapist to creating her own protocol for healing [1:09] The first steps for taking action to stop living life on repeat [3:34] What she means when she says that we need to truly embody change for it to work [5:51] What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and why it’s so important to be aware of how our feelings live in our bodies [7:39] What’s really happening with our feelings when we’re overwhelmed [15:13] How we can start to use breathwork and other techniques to reconnect with ourselves and make sustainable changes in our lives [17:41] The impact of not being fully authentic and honest with our own self, and Nicole’s personal journey demonstrating this [33:19] Why putting yourself out there and presenting yourself to the world as an entrepreneur can bring up so many emotions [36:35] What to keep in mind about feedback and subjective interpretations of our work [38:58] How Nicole started considering herself and not just others, and the way this helped her healing process [45:22] Read the show notes: https://www.melyssagriffin.com/nicole-lapera-107 Nicole’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the.holistic.psychologist/ Nicole’s Self-Healers Guide: https://yourholisticpsychologist.com/waitlist/ Nicole’s Book: https://yourholisticpsychologist.com/book/ Nicole's Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtEWTaMjqOH8J1Gy06Ey0Yg Nicole's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/the.holistic.psychologist/ Nicole’s Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/selfhealers-soundboard/id1564136756

“This disease does not discriminate and it’s really hard to get sober.” -Nicole Bifano Today, Ben and I are chatting to Nicole Bifano, a primary worker at Rock Recovery Center and an LCSW, about the therapeutic process, the steps of detoxification, and the details of AL-ANON membership. Why Nicole Chose to Work with Recovering Addicts Nicole felt called by God to work in the realm of addiction treatment. Working at a treatment center was her only option when she graduated. Although Nicole didn’t plan on working in an alcohol and drug rehab center, she fell in love with her job. “I was able to discover who I was in the process as I had an attachment to this disease since I grew up around it.”  Nicole’s Perspective on Counseling Addicts She realizes that it’s not about the substance; for addicts, it’s the underlying emotional imbalance that brings them into addiction. “For me, it’s about identifying with people on a human level.” Nicole looks to connect with those in recovery to show them that they are loved and cared for as human beings. “Connecting with people on their level gives you the ability to help them.” Breaking Through the Addictive Mindset Clients have a range of issues, and sometimes they are still in the party and drugging stage. By looking at their past life history and experiences, Nicole can get a good insight into the source of their addiction and work with them to move past their emotional grief. Many of her clients don’t feel loved or that they don’t belong, and addiction to drugs gave them a feeling of inclusion.  Listen in and find out the multiple facets of addiction, how Nicole facilitates the healing process, and how she guides her patients through the recovery process. Nicole Martinez has been a serial entrepreneur since the age of 7. She kind of bypassed the whole lemonade stand idea and catapulted right to door-to-door sales of her own handmade products! Living in southern California, while attending high school, Nicole was really lucky to be able to take part in film production as well as take summer acting classes at Pepperdine University. These were her most significant formative years, because she felt right at home in the world of film…not just in front of the camera, but also behind it. She soaked in everything from editing and design to directing and photography. All her interests culminated into an intuitive knack for computers—auto cad, web design, coding, programming, and more. Her inner nerd met up with her creative alter ego and her head became filled with ideas. However, just as most do, she followed the traditional pattern of life, and got herself a job out of high school, since her 7-year-old entrepreneurial spirit wasn't quite burgeoning anymore. Before too long, and just like in the movies, a loss became a life-changing opportunity. She was laid off from her job and, rather than jump back into the rat race, she jumped head first into her first business. Would you believe a Wedding Stationery business? What's more, it was an outstanding success! She got write ups in magazines, accolades over social media and built a solid clientele and was pretty blown away. Well, as the saying goes, success begets success. Her itchy feet and inner nerd called on her to move on to something new. That is when she started up A Brand New Beauty. Here she is today, not yet 30 and running another successful, and rapidly growing enterprise dedicated to helping lady beauty professionals and wedding planners start and grow their own businesses. Her passion is sharing all the tips and knowledge she garnered while starting and growing her own brands and businesses. She understands the importance of knowing, and growing, your audience. She has an ingrained spidey-sense about branding strategy, social media is her wheelhouse, and search engine optimization as just one of the many languages she speaks. If you are a woman in business, whether starting out, starting over, or looking to grow, she can help. She'll work with you to build a unique brand, develop a wicked social media strategy, engage your ideal clients and nail sales. She's about Women In Business. It is her credo, passion, drive, and her own pay it forward way to share what comes most naturally to her so that it becomes a fluid, seamless process for her clients. Empowering women who empower others. How much more flawless can it get? Here's what we covered on the episode: How Nicole wanted to be an actress when she grew up What her experience was like when she spent the summer in acting classes at Pepperdine when she was a kid What it was like when she started her wedding stationery business Why you are your own club promoter when you own a business Why using social media helped her audience taking her seriously How she asked for shout outs for the people that she worked with early on How she got a lot of sales on Etsy early on in her business, and why it's a great platform for designers who work on wedding stationery Why she decided to stop focusing on wedding stationery, and shifted her focus to helping women in business The type of design work that she did when she first started her business How giving away free information helped her How she learned that she can't be offering everything under the kitchen sink to her clients The 3 main services that she offers now in her business How she creates custom packages for her clients after meeting with them on sales calls - and how she works within their budget How she gets her clients today from Facebook and Instagram, but her main focus going forward will be on Instagram How Nicole gets clients to pick a start date, even though she has a waitlist for working with her What Nicole charges for her websites and logos, and why she chose to price her services the way that she does The online workshops she hosts for female entrepreneurs Why she thinks designers should start to use FB ads to stand out on Instagram Why she recommends teaching on social media instead of trying to sell to your followers and fans Her tips for other working moms who run businesses Why Nicole ended up getting a business phone, and how she manages that without getting distracted Links mentioned: Connect with Nicole on Instagram Nicole's website Abu, the FB ads trainer that Nicole mentions   Like what you heard? One of our Inner Circle clients, Nicole is an inspiring example of what you can achieve when you take action and invest in yourself. She has achieved fantastic results by following the step-by-step process that we lay out in our Beta Launch Lab—our brand new course on how to launch a profitable digital product within 30 days.Rather than come up with excises, Nicole went through the course, got down to business, and made some money! Although she has a smaller email list and a not-massive following on social media, she still had a fantastic launch. We see SO people delaying an online launch because they believe they don’t yet have a big enough following. In this episode, Nicole debunks this myth by sharing her numbers, walking us through her beta launch process, providing tips on pricing, digital product curation, and community interaction. Most importantly, we hear about the massive mindset shift Nicole experienced when she decided to invest in herself and in her business, and the impact this had on her results. Unfortunately for patients and new physical therapists, the same mindset that convinces PTs to rely on insurance tells them that they need a physician's permission to treat anyone. Nicole Cozean is a pelvic PT who left the hospital bureaucracy to open her cash practice and challenge the misconceptions that are keeping PTs from their full potential and patients from better treatment. Three years later, she runs a clinic with five PTs and has built a culture that allows them to see their worth. She treats dozens of patients a week, some of whom travel from states away. Today Nicole joins Aaron to bust the myths surrounding the treatment hierarchy, fill you in on how she gets a consistent stream of clients (without physician referrals), and challenge you to unlearn the limiting beliefs that are holding you back. You'll also hear why she focuses on patient education for marketing and the one change she made to her website that's increased her traffic and inquiries. Lightbulb Moment: Business Breakthroughs and Personal Discoveries with Becky Mollenkamp

Nicole Amos started her career as a Product Manager in the tech field. She became an accidental career coach when people kept asking her how she did this or found that and kept referring other people to her. She didn’t know other people were doing this, or could do this, or were getting paid to do this. Years later, she had a 3 a.m. revelation that maybe she should be charging for this service. Going down a Google rabbit hole showed her how much she could charge. With a layoff on the horizon, Nicole viewed it as an opportunity to give full-time entrepreneurship a try. However, she struggled with a lack of productivity, some personal issues, and comparing her insides to other people’s outsides. After realizing that she was trading time for dollars, and working harder than she had in her corporate job, she decided to get a “real” job again. As she puts it, “It’s hard to focus on your business when you can’t pay your bills. And it’s perfectly fine to get a job.” More in this episode… The surprising reaction to Nicole’s Facebook Live about returning to “real” work How she faced the stigma around having a job The different forms a job can take, and why it’s not either/or with your business How to translate your entrepreneurial skills to a resume or LinkedIn profile Why “my own business” doesn’t need to be a gap on your resume The unanticipated benefits of being different. Hello everyone and welcome!! I have my dear friend Nicole Brown back again on the podcast. I had the pleasure of interviewing her for episode 6 which was all about burn out and adrenal fatigue. On that episode, Nicole shared how she used natural medicine to heal herself after years of heavy training and dieting in competitive body sculpting where her health had taken a huge nose dive which lead her to have adrenal exhaustion, an underactive thyroid and many digestive issues. What we didn't talk about in that episode was that Nicole had also been battling an eating disorder since her early 30's after she had suffered a significant emotional trauma. Eating disorders I believe is a really important issue that definitely needs more airtime. Roughly 900, 000 people in Australia are estimated to have an eating disorder at any given time and 64% of them are female. Nicole was able to heal herself through Natural therapies and emotional work, which is why I am really grateful to have her on the today. Some of the things you'll discover in this week's episodes are: + Nicole shares candidly her story and what lead her to have an eating disorder in her 30s + The definition of an eating disorder + The different types of eating disorders and how they differ + When Nicole knew she needed to get help + Why Nicole believes so many people suffer from eating disorders + Who is most at risk of developing eating disorders + The link between body image and eating disorders + How Nicole healed herself from having an eating disorder + The roadblocks that Nicole had come along the way + The warning signs and symptoms of eating disorders + What Nicole would have liked to have been told at that point in time in that part of her life that would have made a positive impact + Early red flags to keep an eye out for + The impact an eating disorder has on the body + The medical risks and complications of eating disorders + What Nicole recommends the first step for these people to take who are also suffering from eating disorders + How to keep on track and not fall back into unhealthy patterns + How Nicole cured her eating disorder + Whether it's possible as a concerning family or friend to say the wrong thing and make it worse + What someone should do if they think someone they know is suffering from an eating disorder + AND SO MUCH MORE!! Many real estate teams are not selective enough in their hiring, and fail to properly invest in their people. This leads to low retention rates and other problems. How can we expand our hiring pool to find people who are good fits for our teams? What is the future of hiring in real estate going to look like? Why are people with an athletic background such great hires? On this episode, Nicole Dufala talks about building and managing the best systems, and plugging the right people into them.   We love educating our agents, not just on traditional real estate. My goal is to make sure they are well-educated and are going to be in the business for a long time, making good money. -Nicole Dufala Takeaways + Tactics In the future, real estate teams are going to invest in recruiting people who match the culture in terms of personality and behavior instead of hiring just anybody with a real estate license. Athletes are great for real estate because they are coachable, have a great mindset, and they push through the pain. If our agents aren’t having more conversations, they won’t get more business. At the start of the show, Nicole shared why her team shifted from specialized agents to letting them work both sides of the transaction. Next, we talked about why real estate agents should be investing in property themselves. We also talked about what it takes to turn an agent into a highly productive and profitable individual. We also discussed: Why Nicole thinks buyer's agents are going to be a thing of the past Why no piece of technology can replace the work we do How Nicole’s team holds agent accountable If we want highly productive teams made up of people who are focused, accountable, and driven, it starts with how and why we hire. It’s more about finding people who match the culture, because they’ll thrive when plugged into our systems. There’s no system that will make the wrong people succeed, so it isn’t just about throwing bodies onto our team and hoping some will stick. It’s important to be intentional about how we grow our team and to keep developing as leaders.
