In this episode Larry Gilbert sat down with the multi-talented actor Oliver Trevena, a name synonymous with success in Hollywood, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship. With over 20 years in the entertainment industry, Trevena has seamlessly navigated various roles from acclaimed TV host to award-winning actor, producer, and philanthropist. Trevena's journey in the spotlight began with his charismatic presence as a TV host for major shows like Young Hollywood and The Hollywood Reporter, where he interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment. He's also fronted red carpets for prestigious award shows, including The Grammys and The American Music Awards. But his career didn't stop there. Over the last few years, Trevena has transitioned from hosting to acting, and what a journey it has been. Oliver has starred in over a dozen feature films, sharing the screen with Hollywood heavyweights like Gerard Butler in Plane, Nina Dobrev and Aaron Eckhart in The Bricklayer, and Olga Kurylenko and Harvey Keitel in Paradox Effect, the latter earning him the Breakout Actor Award at the Rome Film Festival. With the recent Toronto Film Festival premiere of The Cut, where he co-stars alongside Orlando Bloom, Trevena's name continues to rise in Hollywood's elite circles. While his acting resume grows, Trevena is also making waves behind the camera. He produced and stars in Another Day in America, which recently hit the festival circuit, and he just wrapped production on Icefall, starring alongside Joel Kinnaman and Danny Huston. Trevena's upcoming projects include two television shows: Beachy Head, which he co-created with Danny Cannon and stars Dougray Scott, and London Son, both of which he is producing with Pulp Fiction producer Lawrence Bender. Beyond Hollywood, Trevena's impact is felt on a global scale through his philanthropic efforts. For over a decade, he's served as an ambassador for Not for Sale, a worldwide organization fighting human trafficking and modern-day slavery. His dedication earned him an award from the Duchess of York. His passion for humanitarian work doesn't stop there—Trevena produced a documentary in India, spotlighting the importance of female education and raising awareness about forced child marriage. Trevena is not just an entertainer; he's also a savvy entrepreneur. As the founder of Ollywood Media, he's built a thriving business centered around investments, production, and brand creation. Recognized as one of the "Top 20 Entrepreneurs to Watch," Trevena has merged his deep connections within the entertainment world with his creative vision to launch global brands like Allsaints, DOGPOUND, and Next Health. His most recent venture, Caliwater, co-founded with close friend Vanessa Hudgens, has attracted an all-star group of investors including Gerard Butler, Glen Powell, and Ryan Tedder. With a packed schedule of upcoming films, TV projects, and entrepreneurial ventures, Oliver Trevena continues to redefine what it means to be a multi-hyphenate in the modern entertainment industry. Whether he's acting, producing, or leading philanthropic initiatives, Trevena's passion for storytelling and making a difference shines through every endeavor. Tune in to the full episode to hear Oliver's inspiring story of perseverance, the lessons he's learned from his 20+ years in the entertainment business, and how he balances his Hollywood success with his business ventures. Before we approach Season 5, we're taking a Summer vacation without parents…or counselors…or rules!!! Member of the Boy Meets World 3-timers Club, Hillary Tuck, returns to help the gang recap the oft-mentioned 1994 classic “Camp Nowhere!” Hillary takes us behind the scenes and into the cabins at Camp Nowhere for the gang's first viewing, and reveals that Christopher Lloyd didn't really want to hang out with dozens of wild child actors. We hear some unsurprising stories about who Andrew Keegan kissed on set, though a shorter list might be who Andrew *didn't* kiss. And Hillary offers some honest critiques on Camp Nowhere, now through the lens of an adult acting coach. This summer…we look back at a movie that starred most of Young Hollywood at the time, AND the Bee Girl from the Blind Melon video, on an all-new Pod Meets World!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It was 2009, a different time to say the least. The stars of the era known as Young Hollywood were the targets of a ring of break-in burglars, working the Hollywood Hills. Guns, jewelry, designer handbags, artwork, and "jeans made to fit my body" were stolen from the stars. What band of professional thieves had set up shop in LA? Turns out, it was local teens, AKA the Bling Ring.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Joely Live has been in the spotlight since she was five years old. From modeling shoots with Gisele Bundchen, to being a sports illustrated kid reporter, Joely has lived her entire life in the public eye. She joined the show this week to discuss the highs and lows of being in the industry, which has included stops working for Young Hollywood, major events such as the Kids choice awards, and most recently starting her own venture with Pucker Up and building that into an exciting new concept. We also reflect on what Joely describes as a "life changing" moment, which came in 2022 when she got the opportunity to walk in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway show in Miami. Joely shares key insights into what has allowed her to achieve this level of success at such a young age, as well as some things that were particularly challenging to overcome along the way. We couldn't let Joely leave without giving her a taste of her own medicine though, as we made her spill some tea that you'll want to make sure you stick around to hear! This week, Simon sits down with the brilliant and always-interesting Gabriel Byrne for a philosophical chat about his turn as the legendary Irish playwright Samuel Beckett in ‘Dance First', James Marsh's experimental biographical drama. Their conversation is so good, there's more of it in Take 2! Mark also gives his thoughts on the film, as well as reviewing ‘How To Have Sex', cinematographer-turned director Molly Manning Walker's Cannes-winning feature debut about a group of teen girls' rite-of-passage first holiday to Malia; ‘Bottoms', the Young Hollywood-packed second feature from director Emma Seligman, which follows two unpopular queer high school students as they start a fight club in a bid to have sex before graduation; and ‘The Killer', David Fincher's latest offering starring Michael Fassbender as a – you guessed it – contract killer with a growing conscience. With Mark deciding he simply hasn't had enough of the UK's waterways and heading back out to join Simon, Robbie Collin and James King are stepping in to co-captain The Take podcasting vessel. James sits down with the funny and philosophical French writer, director and actor, Louis Garrel, to discuss his latest film ‘The Innocent', a comedy-heist-come-family-farce that's far more personal than you'd first think. Robbie reviews ‘Scrapper', a sunny, imaginative kitchen-sink drama starring Harris Dickinson; and ‘Theater Camp', a Young Hollywood-packed comedy about the eccentric staff of a rundown theatre camp, who band together with the beloved founder's crypto-bro son in an attempt to keep it afloat. On the show today ...Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has done an interview for Variety's Power of Young Hollywood issue, explaining what pushed him to tell his own coming-out story. And this week marks a decade since the TV death that nearly shut down Australia. Ten years ago Patrick from Offspring sadly died and the show's writer has just revealed whether or not he regrets it. Plus, the Barbie movie hit the billion-dollar mark at the box office just 17 days after it was released. This makes it even more baffling to think that earlier this year, Margot Robbie's name was only in the headlines for being ‘box office poison'. This week John is excited to welcome Oliver Trevena to the Hollywood condo for a great talk about angel investing and the world of celebrity networking and influencers. Oliver is best known for hosting the popular Young Hollywood chat show which, at its height, was available in over 700 million homes in 24 languages. In addition, Oliver has worked in films with the likes of Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage, Gerard Butler, and many many more. Over the years Oliver has slowly transitioned into more of an angel investor, advisor, and celebrity ambassador for brands such as Caliwater, All Saints, and Holi Scoops. This diversification in his talents has allowed Oliver to now treat acting as more of a hobby that helps to supplement his passions for brand building, investing, and product development. In this chat, Oliver shares his journey, growing up in East Sussex, and his background in both British theater and dance. By unpacking the world of celebrity endorsements and investments, Oliver emphasizes the importance of focusing on the quality of the product and the team behind it, rather than relying solely on celebrity star power for products that may just be a trend. He advises fellow celebrities to stay in their lane and not micromanage the companies they work with saying, “In my eyes…a celebrity will influence you to try something once. The product is what's going to make you go back.” In addition to discussing the many aspects of his investment portfolio, Oliver and John also discuss the concept of advisory shares in private companies while sharing their insights on a selective approach to joining such boards. The duo are joined by friend of the pod Bob Menery near the end of their chat to discuss their shared love for Boston, some of Oliver's upcoming acting roles, and to reflect on some of the bigger investment opportunities he just missed out on. Rebrand Podcast: Marketing Campaigns Explained by the Brand & Agency
Marketing agencies can do much more than they are right now, whether helping to run a campaign to reposition a brand like Evite or turning cash flow into private equity for sustainability. The only drawback is that they are dropping the ball on one critical area of business - data, and no, it's not what you think. Want to find out more? We have finally come down from the high of having one of the best conversations of our lives with Jane Sibbett two weeks ago, and we are back this week to talk about serious business: Mary-Kate and Ashley's enormous power in 2002.Today, we're talking about a feature "Downtown 20/20" did on the Olsens in February 2002. This caught our attention a few weeks ago when we were researching our Young Hollywood on Late Night episode and because this interview actually reveals a lot about Mary-Kate and Ashley's business at this time. Mainly in what Robert Thorne says to Connie Chung: the girls could not fire him. This comment sent us on a tailspin, and we talk about the implications of what exactly that means, and how it conflicts with the "we make all the decisions" narrative they were pushing during this era. We also discuss the ridiculousness of Connie Chung's questioning whether Mary-Kate and Ashley "going the Britney Spears route," when at this point in history, Britney Spears was starring in Crossroads and dating Justin Timberlake-- a relatively uncontroversial time for the pop princess. Finally, we discuss why everyone was obsessed with speculating when Mary-Kate and Ashley would break apart, because the world doesn't have "much of a need for 35 year old twins." And we're so proud of them for proving those naysayers wrong. You can watch all of the 20/20 segment and the full video version of this podcast by subscribing to our Patreon here.Find us on Social Media!Instagram: @theythoughtiwasyouTikTok: @theythoughtiwasyouBecca: @beccarothLani: @laniharmsAre you Meghan Trainor and want to record an episode with us? Two weeks ago, we talked about Mary-Kate and Ashley's appearance on Jay Leno in 2002, and we noticed a pattern. Every talk show host who ever interviewed Mary-Kate and Ashley (with the exception of Rosie O'Donnell) always did a terrible job. They always ask them if they have boyfriends, they never ask them serious questions about the projects they're working on, and the conversation is almost always painfully awkward. So we decided we needed some context, and see how late night hosts talked to other young women in Hollywood around this time.Turns out, it's not just a Mary-Kate and Ashley problem! Today, we watch interviews with Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Hayden Panettiere from the early 2000's. We also watch more recent interviews with Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink and Charli D'Amelio to see if this these problems persist today. The most striking thing we noticed is how the hosts talk to "the scary girls" (i.e. Britney, Lindsay, and Paris) vs "the good girls" (Hilary, Miley, Hayden & MKA). The scary girls are truly punching bags that hosts take pleasure in making uncomfortable, and the good girls are constantly warned not to turn into "one of those scary girls." The pressure is always put on the young women not to succumb to the dangers of the industry-- never the media considering the problem might be themselves. You can watch all the interviews we talk about on this podcast, and the full video version of this podcast by subscribing to our Patreon here. The videos we watched:THENHilary Duff on Jay Leno (2003)Paris Hilton on David Letterman (2007)Britney Spears on Jay Leno (2003)Miley Cyrus on 20/20 (2007)Hayden Panettiere on The View (2006)Hayden on Jay Leno (2007)Lindsay Lohan on Conan O'Brien (2004)Lindsay Lohan on Jay Leno (2006)NOWSadie Sink Roundtable (2018)Millie Bobby Brown on Jimmy Fallon (2017)Charli D'Amelio (2020)Find us on Social Media!Instagram: @theythoughtiwasyouTikTok: @theythoughtiwasyouBecca: @beccarothLani: @laniharmsAre you Jay Leno and want to explain yourself? Hanina Hoffman originally didn't want to accept the offer to write a Hollywood horror flick with a Jewish theme. But he changed his mind once he realized he could help change the way Hasidic Jews are so often portrayed on screens, big and small. He wanted to create something more sympathetic, like “Shtisel, the horror movie”, instead of something in the vein of shows like My Unorthodox Life and Unorthodox, where oppressed ultra-religious women flee their confined lives. The resulting big-budget film, his first, is called The Devil's Offering, and is currently available for digital rental and purchase online. To create the script, Hoffman channelled his upbringing in Toronto as the son of a former ritual director at Adath Israel Congregation, including a teenaged job as a shomer at Benjamin's funeral home. Hanina "Hank" Hoffman joins The CJN Daily to reveal all the subtle—and not-so-subtle—nods to Jewish mysticism, including the film's ancient demon. What we talked about: Watch the trailer for The Devil's Offering. This episode kind of turned into one giant tangent. Emma and Julie begin with an update on the Kendall Jenner / Devin Booker breakup (and potential rekindling), which then somehow leads into a conversation on Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde, and more. They then give a breakdown of the rumored budding relationship between Landon Barker, aspiring musician and son of Travis Barker, and Charli D'Amelio, viral TikTok sensation turned mainstream celebrity. They explain the different elements that make this couple so relevant in the current young Hollywood landscape. There's then a brief conversation about Khloé on Hot Ones, as well as an update on Rhode's legal issues. c joins Dr. Ghadir on this weeks episode of The Fertile Life and opens up about her fertility and motherhood journey, miscarriage, and a surprise pregnancy. Scheana shares the ups and downs she experienced along the way from the positive and seamless egg-freezing process she had with Dr. Ghadir, to the difficult miscarriage, then followed by her rainbow baby. Scheana's positive attitude and open mindedness helped make her egg-freezing experience enjoyable, as she always focused on the BIG PICTURE. She shares her strong belief that there is no shame in talking about pregnancy loss or being proactive about planning for your future babies. She also discusses why being pregnant during quarantine was a blessing, as there were no opportunities for FOMO! Dr. Ghadir and Scheana explain what women should know about fertility testing, such as the AMH test (anti-mullerian hormone) and what it tells you about your fertility. Also, why sometimes your biological age and your fertility age may not always be in sync. Scheana also gives expecting mothers some baby prep advice, and why all you really need are “Boobs and a Bassinet” when the baby comes home from the hospital. SCHEANA SHAY is an actress, model, and star of the hit docuseries “Vanderpump Rules,” which recently completed its 8th season on Bravo. After graduating from college with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Scheana moved to Hollywood to materialize her career ambitions. The Southern California native quickly landed co-starring roles on several popular television shows, including JONAS, 90210, Greek, Victorious, and Entourage, in addition to numerous national commercials and on-air hosting gigs for Young Hollywood and other media platforms. In recent years, Scheana has expanded her journalism resume to include guest hosting/commentator roles for programs such as the Steve Harvey Show, Dr. Drew, among others, and hosts the popular podcast “Scheananigans with Scheana Shay” from ActionParkMedia. Scheana recently crossed an item off her bucket list with her headlining role on the Las Vegas strip in “Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man.” IG/Twitter/Snapchat: @scheana --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thefertilelife/message

Welcome back friends, to the festivalPass Stories podcast! This week, Pat Tully sits down with one of the hottest up-and-coming indie filmmakers. So let's take a deep dive into the independent film circuit with the talented director, Lance Oppenheim. Movies have always been a popular source of entertainment. Although the pandemic has halted the production of many film companies and kept us out of the theater, digital streaming platforms have grown exponentially over the last calendar year. For the indie filmmaker, these platforms are crucial in becoming a household name. Lance utilized sites like Vimeo to showcase his short films, and has six Staff Picks under his belt. After showcasing his hard work, Lance began to get the recognition that he deserved as an artist, and he's been on a tear ever since. Using the momentum of his short films, Lance decided to take on the biggest challenge of his young career, making his first feature-length film. Lance had an idea for a short film but quickly realized that in order to tell the story the way he wanted to, he needed more screen time, which meant more resources. Lance tells one of the best “never quit” stories that we've heard on the podcast to date. After sending countless emails to Darren Aronofsky, (one of the most popular directors in Hollywood) he finally broke through and got the right eyes on his film catalog. After going through meeting after meeting, he eventually got an audience with Darren himself. Darren was so impressed, he decided to join the project as a producer. Lance worked on the film for months and poured everything he had into it. In 2020, “Some Kind of Heaven” premiered at Sundance Film Festival and it was a huge success. It was the first film that was co-produced by The New York Times, and Lance became the youngest filmmaker to contribute to the papers' “Op-Docs”. The film continued to perform well, and the appreciation from the press and his peers became louder. Lance made the “Power of Young Hollywood” list by Variety in 2020, and Filmmaker Magazine's “25 New Faces of Independent Film”. Lance used the heat the film created from Sundance to get distributing from Magnolia Pictures, who will be distributing the film this year. The Harvard graduate and 2019 Sundance Ignite Fellow winner's career is just getting started. We're honored that we got to interview him before the world knows the name, Lance Oppenheim. We're excited for what the future holds for the film industry, and we'll be keeping a close eye on Lance's progression as an artist. “Knowing that there were other films submitted…I thought, ‘ok, it seems that people liked this movie.' I put that in my quiver and kinda continued on, it just made me want to make more of them.” - Lance Oppenheim Catch the interview on Festival Pass Stories! https://festivalpass.com/stories You can find Lance on: Lance Oppenheim's Website- https://www.lanceoppenheim.com Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/lanceopp/ Vimeo- https://vimeo.com/lanceoppenheim IMDB- https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4565262/ Connect with Festival Pass!
