What's behind the Minerals deal with Ukraine? Why it's mostly smoke & mirrors, not a contract or final deal. Why both parties compromised & left the deal vague. Who benefits from the deal? How it's related to Europe's $260B frozen Russian assets. Why it's PR. Second part of show continues discussion of the intensifying contradictions behind continuing the US global empire. Why the empire as now structured is no longer affordable and US imperialists are intent on restructuring it (once again as in 1913-19, 1944-50 and 1979-86). US deficits & debt levels unsustainable and DOGE spending cuts for tax cuts as desperate effort to regrow faltering US economy and restore empire's finances. Domestic US economic restructuring as next phase of Neoliberal policy or as beginning of the end of Neoliberal policies. (For further details on Trump-Zelensky minerals deal, check out my latest published article at http://jackrasmus.com or at LA Progressive, World Financial Review, Znet.)

Ep 300 of RevolutiopnZ is the fifteenth in the Next American Revolution Sequence. This time Bert Dellinger, Emiliano Feynman, Leslie Zinn, Barbara Bethune, Robin Kunstler, Anton Rocker, and Harriett Lennon discuss social media, mass and alternative media, health, clinics, and hospitals, courts and police, education, workplace makeovers, and allocation innovations as instances of planting seeds for the RPS future in the present. I again interject comments every so often. Have you ever heard anyone ask, "yes, things are horrible, but what can we do about it?" Here is what RPS organizers did in their time to win gains and prepare to win still more gains on the road to attaining a participatory society. Can their future programmatic choices provide insights into our current possibilities? Can their future successes usefully inspire our potential current choices? Miguel Guevara, the interviewer, thinks so. I hope so. Give a listen and perhaps check out the text on ZNet too, to decide for yourself.Support the Show.
EP 296 of RevolutionZ and episode twelve of the Oral History of the Next American Revolution sequence reports on RPS's Second Convention's ups and downs and the origin and implementation of a shadow government. Interviewees report how the national convention and subsequent shadow government were planned, assembled, and carried out. The interviewees take you fromorganizing's ethical dilemmas to the psychological and social impacts of activist choices, to the dynamics of new institution startup efforts within a corrupt, oppressive, society. Listen (and/or you can read on ZNet as well if you like) and then you can judge for yourself: Do Miguel's questions, Patti's, Malcom's, Lydia's, Bill's, and Barbara's answers, and even my interjections provide insights and inspiration applicable in our time, in our world? That is certainly their and my aim.Support the Show.
Episode 284 of RevolutionZ presents chapter two (of fourteen) of An Oral History of the Next American Revolution. It relates personal precursors of revolutionary participatory society through the life experiences of interviewees Alexandra Voline, Andre Goldman, and Senator Malcolm King who discuss with their interviewer, Miguel Guevara, all from their own world their personal trajectories into activism including the first major march, the early gun and militarism boycotts, overcoming early resistance and doubt, achieving early momentum, and much much more on the road to forming and working toward Revolutionary Participatory Society in the U.S. And yes, that is a whole lot which is why this episode is by far the longest so far at four minutes under two hours. (See the long list of topics below -- to get them, I skimmed the earlier article on ZNet, excerpt two of the serialization and grabbed here and there. It could have gone on and on...lives are big things and so is revolution....)Support the Show.
Ep 279 of RevolutionZ, Students Teach, We Learn, hopes to answer some questions that I felt folks might have. I try to address, spontaneously, as one might in a discussion: Why are campuses rebelling? Why now, why so many, why so fast? What are the students seeking? What reactions are rebels encountering from other students / from administrators / from cops? Summer is near, most importantly, what's next? Is this 1968 again, how similar is it, how different? Will it be smarter? Will it change colleges, education, and society too? Will it transform campus power relations? Plus a recent article from ZNet that addresses all that and more. in carefully prepared text.Support the Show.
Episode 273 of RevolutionZ addresses Class (The PMC or as I call it, the Coordinator Class) and left organizing in the Degrowth movement. The episode is built around an essay by Emma River-Roberts, a Degrowth activist, working class organizer, and founder of The Working Class Climate Alliance, which is an affiliate of the Post Growth Institute. The article is on ZNet and I offer it here and also some comments on it because I believe the article has bearing not only on Degrowth organizing, but really on all organizing for a better world.
C.J. Hopkins gives us an update on COVID1984 from New Normal Germany and a recap of GloboCap as he understands it after 2+ years of medical tyranny. What GloboCap is doing now is "clearing and holding" or identifying all sources of global insurgency and resistance to its global occupation and wiping them out in order to implement its new program. Regarding the debate on Putin and the WEF, he says it's not a Marvel comic book and that we're dealing with a much more complicated constellation of power dynamics, even though Russia and China are integrated with global capitalism. We discuss Covid fatigue and the increasing global persecution against "COVID deniers", "Russian agents", and dissidents. Even though the Covidian Cult is dissolving, the New Normal has been cemented into society and it isn't going away, reality is being revised. He believes the digital pass systems will be imposed on us. He stresses the importance of resisting and also thinks bugging out isn't a bad idea. In the first half hour of today's show, Dr. Rasmus reviews a June 1 article by the San Francisco Federal Reserve showing that the US labor market is far weaker than the ‘headline' unemployment rate indicates. Rasmus argues that jobs are being recalled (not created) at a slow rate and likely with fewer hours and thus weekly earnings. The long term historic trend, of a ‘jobless recession' recovery will continue in 2021 and beyond. The second half hour of the show addresses Biden's historic ‘about face' in infrastructure negotiations this past week: cutting corporate taxes to 15% instead of raising them to 28% as Biden had promised + reducing his infrastructure spending proposal again even further, from the prior week's $1.7T (down from $2.25T) to $1 trillion. The ‘smoke and mirrors' moves of Republican counterproposals, and Democrats, are discussed. The final number will likely be around $1T, as predicted. All that remains is what will be the composition of spending of that $1T. (Check out Dr. Rasmus' article in Counterpunch, Znet, and other sources, as well as his blog, jackrasmus.com, for a more detailed print publication analysis of the political games behind the infrastructure negotiations).
Michael Albert is an organizer, publisher, teacher, and author of over twenty books and hundreds of articles. He cofounded South End Press, Z Magazine, the Z Media Institute, ZNet, and various other projects, and works full time for Z Communications. He is the author, with Robin Hahnel, of the economic vision named participatory economics. He helped create the International Organization for a Participatory Society in 2012. He is also the podcaster behind Revolution Z and an instructor at the School for Social and Cultural Change.
Dr. Rasmus explains why the official U-3 unemployment figure of 13.3% is a gross misrepresentation of the unemployment rate. What’s wrong with the U-3. Plus the Labor Dept’s own admission that the 13.3% is distorted by the questions it has asked the jobless. Why the Labor Force participation Rate and Employment to Population ration show little improvement in the jobless situation. Why there is a brief phase of 2-3 months when the economy will not keep falling but level off and maybe recover 20% of the loss of the past few months, but why a W-Shape recovery longer term is on the agenda. Why most jobs won’t come back or return only slowly over the next 10 yrs. Dr. Rasmus concludes with some commentary on his latest blog publication, ‘Confronting Institutional Racism’, and why (and how) the demonstrations and protests need to expand and grow organizationally, in terms of alliances, and in its demands—or it will go the way of the ‘Occupy’ movement of 2011 and ‘yellow vests’ in France in recent years. (Check out the article ‘Confronting Institutional Racism’ on Dr. Rasmus’s blog, jackrasmus.com or on Counterpunch, Znet, or Global Research public blogs today)

This week the US announced that it would freeze Venezuelan assets and block payments for Venezuelan oil imports. The loss of the US market is a major blow to Venezuela’s oil income. These sanctions are just the latest in a long line of penalties imposed on Venezuela in order to destabilize the government. Joe Emersberger is a writer for Znet who has been following the situation in Venezuela closely.

Bob Brodie: User Group Manager for Atari Hi and welcome to another special interview edition of Antic the Atari 8-bit computer podcast. My name is Randy Kindig and I'll be providing the interview questions for this episode. I'm extremely pleased to provide this interview with a name well-known in the Atari community: Mr. Bob Brodie. Bob worked for Atari as User Group Manager and later Director of Communications from 1989 to 1994. Bob was directly involved in many of the Atarifests in that timeframe and I recall personally meeting him at an Atarifest in Indianapolis. I think you'll find that he has many interesting stories and perspectives concerning his time working for the Tramiels and even a story involving an Atari 1450XLD. I personally want to thank Bob for the time he spent talking with me, even calling me back when he remembered additional information or stories he thought might interest everyone. Bob is a classy guy and I enjoyed talking with him immensely. This interview took place on February 17, 2016. Quote “Oh, about 6 ½ feet up in the air, I see a 1450XLD, unboxed, just sitting there!” Links Dateline Atari! with Bob Brodie on GEnie - http://textfiles.com/games/CONSOLES/brodie.txt New User Group Coordinator, ROVAC ZMAGAZINE, Issue #171, August 22, 1989 - http://www.textfiles.com/magazines/ZNET/0170.txt INTRODUCING BOB BRODIE, START Columnist Makes His Debut, START VOL. 5 NO. 7 / APRIL/MAY 1991 - http://www.atarimagazines.com/startv5n7/bob_brodie.html Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/rgbrodie San Leandro Computer Club - http://slcc.bdgeorge.com
We’re In The Midst Of A Political Realignment by MFlowers Decades of lesser evil voting and the failed policies that have been the result are creating a political realignment in the United States. Such a realignment has been going on in other countries recently such as Spain, Venezuela, Greece and Iceland. The two major parties in the US, the Democrats and Republicans, are shrinking and more people are joining third parties or switching to be unaffiliated. We’ll discuss this political realignment and what it means with Darcy Richardson and Ashley Smith. Richardson’s books on American history and politics — one of which earned an Outstanding Academic Title (OAT) from scholarly Choicemagazine in 2005 — were cited in Newsweek’s “What You Need to Read” section in July 2010. His most recent book, Bernie: A Lifelong Crusade Against Wall Street & Wealth, was published by Sevierville Publishing in December 2015. Long active in third-party politics, Richardson has rubbed shoulders with some of the best-known political figures of the past three decades. In addition to managing one of the late Minnesota Senator Eugene J. McCarthy’s campaigns and serving as a senior advisor in another, Richardson ran for Pennsylvania Auditor General in 1980 and for the U.S. Senate eight years later on the Philadelphia-based Consumer Party ticket. In 2012, he offered himself as a protest candidate in several Democratic presidential primaries, briefly challenging Wall Street’s increasingly corrupt influence on the Democratic Party and the nation’s body politic. A resident of Jacksonville, Richardson has been quoted in major publications such as the Wall Street Journal, theWashington Times and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and has written numerous articles for a wide range of publications. He has also been a guest on several nationally-syndicated radio talk shows, ranging from the progressive “Thom Hartmann Show” to Joseph Farah’s conservative “WorldNetDaily Radioactive” program. Darcy can be reached via email at darcy@uncoveredpolitics.com Ashley Smith is on the editorial board of the International Socialist Review (ISR) and on the Steering Committee of the International Socialist Organization. He has written on various subjects for the ISR as well as Socialist Worker, New Politics, ZNet, and Jacobin. He lives in Burlington, Vermont.
