In this podcast episode, Marc and Ray each share their top five Irish artists and songs, celebrating the diversity of Irish music. Ray's list featured iconic tracks like Van Morrison's timeless “Brown Eyed Girl,” U2's soulful ballad “All I Want Is You,” and The Cranberries' dreamy hit “Dreams.” He also highlighted Enya's ethereal “May It Be” and the haunting “Theme from Harry's Game” by Clannad. Marc's list celebrated these classics too while also considering legendary rock from Thin Lizzy and a ballad by Chris De Burg. Experience the heart of Irish music — a vibrant fusion of traditional folk, modern pop, and rock that's sure to inspire you.
John came into the Get Back project only one fully formed new song, "All I Want Is You," later re-named as "Dig A Pony." After a possibly initial ambivalent reaction, the band tightened it up as the first song recorded in their own Apple Studios. It eventually found it's true home on the rooftop of Apple on a cold January day, where the band nailed it in one rock solid take. The song lumbers and moves in weird ways, almost like a giant kind of stomping slowly, while John delivers a fantastic vocal of some kind of wordplay I've never really understood. Musically, it's just so good though. The riff is classic rock guitar at it's core, held down by the most perfect subdued drumming from Ringo, and a jagged and refined yet unexpected solo from George. It's such an odd song, but it feels so good, you can't not love it. Joining us this week is New Orleans-based songwriter and producer Nicholas Dayton! Nick writes songs for Sesame Street, which is maybe the coolest job you could ever have. He's also done some acting, and been seen on 30 Rock and Nickoldeon. Add to that he plays bass in a 60s cover band AND an Elton John tribute? It's like a found a long lost sibling! Join us as we chat about hearing Big Bird sing a song you wrote, Lin-Manuel Miranda, 60s music, and so much more! What do you think about Dig A Pony at 82? Too high? Too low? It is a privilege to welcome Lark to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.Lark is a fearless and dynamic indie-pop artist from Australia whose unmistakable style is influenced by the icons of her upbringing. Growing up, the boldness of 1984 Madonna, the glamour and attitude of KISS, and the infectious melodies of Swedish pop created a musical foundation that continues to shape her artistic expression today. With a rich background in the live music touring circuit, she has honed her craft on stages worldwide, opening for iconic artists including BB King, Johnny Johnson, and Men at Work. In 2023, Lark started working with Australian Independent Producer of the Year, Jono Fernandez (Sia, Morgan Page). Together, they released her first single, “Unicorn,” an upbeat and quirky indie pop song brimming with positivity and tuneful hooks. For Lark, the single marks her musical rebirth and is dedicated to her besties. “Unicorn” quickly became a favorite for radio stations around Australia and Europe, where it went to number one on the Euro Indie Music Chart. Following the release of “Unicorn,” Lark released a handful of other singles, including the dance floor no-brainer “I'm With You” and the optimistic indie-pop track “Good Good Energy.” Both singles quickly shot to #1 on both the World Indie Music Charts and the Euro Indie Music Chart, with the latter maintaining a solid position on both charts for over 5 months! Written for her daughter, “I'm With You” is about unconditional love and acceptance and features a wicked beat and catchy pre-chorus. “Good Good Energy” is inspired by her move away from the big smoke and showcases her reconnection with nature. Her single, “All I Want Is You,” saw Lark stepping into the dance side of indie. With a killer bass drop, infectious groove, and cheeky lyrics, this song is a road trip must-have and another dance floor banger. “The song is about missing someone so much and that sense of urgency to finally be together,” Lark explains. “I may or may not have envisioned myself being in the Fast and the Furious while I was writing this song.” Unapologetically herself, Lark has embraced her journey of self-discovery and love while merging it with upbeat pop music. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Lark shared her origin story, sharing the stage with the late BB King and Johnnie Johnson, and spoke about the stories behind some of her songs. Matt talks about popular classic rock love songs to play on your wedding day - as a first dance, during the ceremony, as a slow dance song, or to accent a moment like cutting the wedding cake. Important Links View the complete list of classic rock love songs. See all Wedding Songs Podcast episodes Podcast Transcript All right let's talk about Classic Rock love songs. These are Classic Rock songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Before that time I would consider being oldies and newer then that would be more modern, and as time progresses you could say that the 2000s could be considered classic but only time will give that presence. On our website, MyWeddingSongs.com I do have a list of 60 top Classic Rock songs that you can check out by searching for Classic Rock songs on the website. While you are there make sure you sign up for our monthly newsletter of all the new wedding songs released in the previous month, plus what is trending. That way you get an idea of what songs are popular that maybe you have forgotten about for a little while. Now, of course, I am not going to be covering all 60 songs because that would really bore you to death, but let's go ahead and get started with the first song by U2 and “All I Want Is You”. U2 is one of the greatest bands of all time from Ireland. This song has the lyrics…But all the promises we make, From the cradle to the grave, When all I want is you. Kind of a lovey-dovey song that you can have. Another legendary Classic Rock band is Led Zepplin with their song “All My Love”. I think that a lot of people forget about this song. Lyrics include…His is the force that lies within, Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find, He is a feather in the wind, All of my love. There are quite a few Bon Jovi songs that I could have selected, but I preferred the song “Always” released in 1994 on their album Cross Road, with the lyrics…‘Til the heavens burst and the words don't rhyme, And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind, And I'll love you, always. From the Hair Band era we have Styx with “Babe” in 1979, and also “Can't Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon in 1984 was a very popular love song. Lyrics included…I've forgotten what I started fighting for, It's time to bring this ship into the shore, And throw away the oars, forever. A very popular love song that was covered by Brian McKnight, and many other artists, is “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison in 1970, with the lyrics…Take away my trouble, take away my grief, Take away my heartache, in the night like a thief, She gives me love, love, love, love, crazy love. You know, everybody thinks of “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, but that is really like a stalking song so not a very good wedding song. Instead, you may consider “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” with the lyrics…I resolved to call her up, A thousand times a day, And ask her if she'll marry me. This song is a mid-tempo song so it is one you can have during the dancing part, even during the cocktail hour or just to keep the mood up. “Every Rose Has It's Thorn” by Poison in 1988 with the lyrics…Just like every night has its dawn, Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song, Every rose has its thorn. The next two songs are very popular first dance songs. One of my best friends had it at his wedding. It is “Everything I Do I Do It For You” by Brian Adams, and “Faithfully” by Journey with those famous lyrics…And lovin' a music man, Ain't always what it's supposed to be, Oh girl you stand by me, I'm forever yours, faithfully. Another very popular love song, released in 1989, is “Have I Told You Lately” by Van Morrison. It was covered by Rod Stewart and include the lyrics…Have I told you lately that I love you, Have I told you there's no one else above you, You fill my heart with gladness. Motley Crue's song “Home Sweet Home” released in 1985 is a great love ballad. Lyrics include…Long and winding road, I'm on my way, I'm on my way, Home sweet home.

HIDDEN PRIME CUTS POD: U2 covered the sixties classic ‘Everlasting Love' in 1988 for the B-side of the ‘All I Want Is You' single. It has recently been used in Kenneth Branagh's award winning movie - Belfast. Podcast host Stephen has always been a big fan of it after hearing U2's version on the radio in the early 1990s, and finally procuring it in 1998 when the song featured on the bonus disc CD of U2's 1980 - 1990 Best Of compilation. Most "rare" and expensive records are a rip-off in my personal opinion. There's usually a reason they're rare (they weren't that good so they didn't sell). However, there are a handful of rare records that are truly worth the extravagant prices they fetch. All of the records on this episode have sold for $500+. (Disclaimer: I do not own copies of ALL of these but I wish I did!) This episode best enjoyed with a glass of fine wine or champagne. Cheers Tracklist: Percy Stone & The Explosions "Chained" The Montclairs "Hey You!" Arnold Blair "Trying To Get Next To You" JT Rhythm "All I Want Is You" Brotherhood "When You Need Me" The Mighty Lovers "I Ain't Gonna Run No More" Burning Desire "Why She Had To Go" Fatback Band "Peace, Love Not War" Frank Beverly & The Butlers "Because Of My Heart" Pat Lewis "No One To Love" Willie Tee "Concentrate" Young Ladies "He's Gone To Another" The Mist "Life Walked Out" Wizdom "So In Love With You"
