“Understanding what values are important to me — and I don't think I've spent a lot of time mapping that out. Not what Matthew, Mark, Luke and John told me. But me, Kyle.” - Kyle For Kyle Lacy faith is a loaded word, bringing up negative thoughts and memories. Why is it such a trigger? As Kyle continues on his fear journey, he invites Joe Staples to help him talk through his fear of faith. As a man with strong convictions, Joe shares that for him, following a religion is only part of what shapes us. The other part is what Kyle may be missing. What subject could these two titians of Rad combine their knowledge for? This episode is one of the rare treats were we have two talented experts chat about their jobs as graphic designers. The Prepping Academy August 28th, 2020 Forrest & Kyle discuss current events, the latest “conspiracy theories,” and what’s coming through the rest of this year. As we head in to fall things politically are heating up across America. The people have been primed and polarized for years and the beginnings of a civil war seems imminent. Forrest and Kyle discuss their experiences thus far with COVID19, what they could’ve done differently, and what’s the next step. A key point discussion for this episode is the #WhiteHouseSiege planned for September 17th. Organized by the same folks that did Occupy Wallstreet, it’s set to last 50 days, and go through the elections. As Kyle has said in the past, if an “Egyptian Revolution” model is followed it will spell out big trouble for our nation post-election. Leading up to the election we believe you will start to see these key focuses in media: - Police brutality. - Electoral fraud. - High unemployment. - Living wage/low minimum wage. - Food inflation. - Political censorship. As Forrest and Kyle point out, November is likely when we will start seeing food shortages. Now more than ever is time to make sure your food storage is solid. If we go into a second lockdown because of the pandemic it is going to be more strict, and last much longer. Towards the end, two Forrest and Kyle discuss barter, gold, silver, cash, and cryptocurrency to hedge ourselves against inflation and dollar devaluation. The biggest overall theme of this podcast from Kyle is really trying to drive home spiritual preparedness. Times are only going to get tougher in America and we’re already seeing the mental and emotional cracks forming in many people’s lives. Pay attention to your family and friends. And have dialogues with those you usually wouldn’t. Divided America falls and that seems to an apparent agenda at the moment. Get on my Cryptocurrency Team! Intermission Ep. 8 - Original Cast Album: Company (with Kyle Turner)

The Film Stage Show

Welcome back to Intermission, a spin-off podcast from The Film Stage Show. In a time when arthouse theaters are hurting more than ever and there are a plethora of streaming options at your fingertips, we wanted to introduce new conversations that put a specific focus on the films that are foundational or perhaps overlooked in cinephile culture. Led by yours truly, Michael Snydel, Intermission is a 1-on-1 supplementary discussion podcast that focuses on one arthouse, foreign, or experimental film per episode as picked by the guest. For our eighth episode, I talked to film critic Kyle Turner, about D.A. Pennebaker's 1970 documentary, Original Cast Album: Company, which is exclusively available on The Criterion Channel. Originally conceived as a pilot, the film recounts parts of the laborious 16-hour recording process of the cast album for Sondheim's musical Company. Of a piece with Pennebaker's other cinematic explorations of larger-than-life personas like Dont Look Back and Monterey Pop, it's a film that's equally concerned with the analog processes of studio mixing and the impossibility of capturing perfection. The best exhibition of that struggle comes in the film's climax when Elaine Stritch (as Joanne) is physically unable to perform one of the musical's showstoppers, “The Ladies Who Lunch,” as a visibly sulking Sondheim watches in the studio. It's a sequence that's been affectionately spoofed as recently as a popular episode of the Documentary Now! series and has been picked apart as meme material. As Kyle playfully muses, “It's a moment that nearly every gay man knows” while speaking to its lingering cultural legacy. On a purely cinematic and musical level, it's a magnificent scene––but it's also a compact metaphor for the paradox of perfection. Appropriately, our Intermission conversation focused on the mutability of the text and how its many ambiguities harmonize with its fixed elements. Parts of the conversation covered common Sondheim- and Company-related questions like Bobby's perceived––or at least intuitable––queerness or the linguistic gymnastics of the lyrics. But we also found time to discuss commitment as it relates to living in New York, how being a film critic informs Kyle's reading of Company, and the shifting but still relevant political questions of Sondheim's text. Intermission episodes are shared exclusively with our Patreon community before being posted to The Film Stage Show's main feed. One can also enter our giveaways, get access to our private Slack channel, and support new episodes by becoming a Patreon contributor. I welcome the one and only Kyle Gray as my guest for Episode 7. An internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher, and a fellow member of the Hay House family, Kyle is the bestselling author of Angel Prayers, Raise Your Vibration and Angel Numbers. He’s also super cool, super relatable and a little bit boojee - breaking the mold of what it means to be spiritual. Kyle had his first spiritual experience at just 4 years old, and began working with spirit at a very young age. In this episode he reveals the astonishing experience that led him to his calling and how his journey has unfolded from then until now. We dive deep into an introduction to angels, and Kyle defines exactly what the word means to him, describing them as ‘God in drag’. He even reveals how to start working with angels for anyone who’s not sure where to start. We cover angel numbers too, and what each number specifically means, so you can start noticing them in your life and deriving meaning from them. As Kyle is so relatable, we mull over how it is totally possible to be spiritual and live a ‘normal’ life. Kyle believes that we are each becoming our own gurus and teachers, so there’s no right or wrong when it comes to following your spiritual path. We also talk about pure consciousness, the Ascended Masters, and how clairvoyants have even been feared in the past. This episode is a must listen for anyone who considers themselves spiritual or anyone wanting to begin living a more spiritual existence! In this episode, I am joined by Kyle and Kirk Burnett who are twin brothers that invest in real estate together. Kyle lives in Cincinnati with his wife and two girls and has been investing in real estate for three and a half years. Kirk moved to the Dominican Republic five years ago to work as a missionary, where he met and married his wife. Now he works remotely full-time with the Burnett Group while still volunteering at the non-profit organization.   We talked about what they were both doing before getting into real estate investing and what roles each of them play now in their company. While their primary investing market is Cincinnati, they are currently working on expanding into another market. Kyle and Kirk discussed their respective roles, hiring help, and the details of remotely handling deals.   As Kyle and Kirk expand into this new market, they are going to test out the remote business model by utilizing less costly marketing strategies, such as texting and cold-calling, rather than direct mail.   I asked them to describe their business operations and any of the tools they are using to be more successful. Kyle and Kirk talked about a couple of the apps they use (see links for more information) and spoke about the importance of communication between team members. We also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of closing deals over the phone.   We talked about what we might do differently if we were starting over with a clean slate today. Kyle and I both said we would definitely start with flipping houses, but Kirk said he would begin by wholesaling so he could stay in the Dominican Republic and continue to work in ministry. Both said how valuable being part of a mastermind group is and how much they value the relationships and shared information.   I hope you will join me for this super down-to-earth and informative interview with the Brothers Burnett! Notable Quotes:   “We are going to go for some of the low-hanging fruit to prove the model.” Kirk Burnett   “We are full-steam ahead in the new market (regardless of the pandemic).” Kirk Burnett   “Something like the pandemic happening tests your business - are there holes in your game?” Mike Simmons   “Too many people are playing defense and are fear-based in what they are doing.” Mike Simmons   “Don’t make this an excuse not to be successful.” Mike Simmons   “Here ya go - boom. Quarantine, COVID, now what? You can curl up in a ball and die, or you can figure out your path forward.” Mike Simmons   “You have to get over your unreasonable or unfounded fears.” Mike Simmons   “Imagine the talent you can pull from if you open up your hiring to anywhere.” Mike Simmons    “I do enjoy the flipping aspect of things and I don’t think that is something that will ever go away.”  Kyle Burnett    “I love where I am at, and more importantly, I love the organization and ministry that I serve with and the kids I serve for. That is my number one priority and I wouldn’t do anything to sacrifice that.” Kirk Burnett   “You’re just good people, man.” Mike Simmons   “Take action. Today’s episode features physical therapists, Ryan Foley and Kyle Paxton.  Together they run the continuing education business: “Integrated Kinetic Neurology”. Dr. Ryan Foley, co-founder of IKN has worked with a number of high level athletes, and owns Evolve Physiotherapy.  He has studied applied functional neurology methods, specifically Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex, along with other applied neuroscience approaches to help get people get out of pain and improve function. Kyle Paxton’s successes and experiences with neurology based training interventions led him to the development of IKN, and Kyle has strategically shaped the techniques involved in IKN to ensure a practical and effective teaching process of neurology for performance and therapy interventions. I always enjoy learning about the role of the nervous system in training.  As Kyle mentions early in this show “when you really think about it, everything is neurology”.  The nervous system is a very complex entity, however, and personally I’ve seen loads of “neural” training ideas that can get extremely complicated and involved, leading me to wonder how much the placebo effect is in play and how sustained the results are. That’s where the practicality and dedication of Ryan and Kyle come in, and today’s show narrows neural training down to the specific sensory inputs of the body: proprioception, vestibular and ocular channels.   Without sensation, we can’t feel safe to move with power and grace, and if I’ve learned anything as a coach, it’s to value the sensory map of an athlete immensely in conjunction with their sport technique.  This valuable episode covers those points, as well as performance topics such as “dual tasking, isometric training integration, and more. Today’s episode is brought to you by SimpliFaster, supplier of high-end athletic development tools, such as the Freelap timing system, kBox, Sprint 1080, and more. Key Points Ryan and Kyle’s backgrounds and interest in neurology and performance The primary sensory systems that contribute to human movement and why they matter The role of the eyes and intention in human performance Why bracing the core doesn’t work with the performance principles of neurology Ways to enhance isometric training using the hands, feet or eyes “Dual Tasking” and isometric training Why athletes might place their free hand on a muscle or body region subconsciously during an exercise How to use the eyes and vestibular system to drive more tone into a body area Any potential value in balance oriented sensory work prior to heavier strength training “When you really think about it, everything is neurology” “Sensory feedback both from an internal perspective and external perspective is what drives our ability to respond to the world around us” “The sensory systems allow you to fully utilize the actual structure that you have” “If you can start to understand that the proprioceptive system, the visual system and the vestibular system are the primary drivers of how our body can respond to the outside world, then it can really start to change the lens that you look at your programming through” “When I think of the (core) versus the limbs, there is a lot more purposeful and intentional control to control my limbs in the real world, versus my (core) which is more subcortical and reflexive in movement control” “The eyes allow us to maintain that smooth coordination through our hands and through our feet.  Whenever I’m doing any isometric work, or any kind of movement based work I typically have a lot of intention through my eyes and the target and I’m putting a lot of importance on how the hands are dissipating load through the limb and how the feet are dissipating load through the lower body” “I don’t want a lot of noise in my nervous system when I’m trying to move in a particular direction” “Isometrics really allow you to experience load in a safe ...

Introduction message from the host of Business Playmakers podcast, Kyle Gorman. ~I am often asked whether we should be using personality assessments, such as Myers Briggs, in the hiring process and in hiring decisions. My belief is that it should not be a primary tool to be used in the hiring decision, but it is a great way to understand how to coach, manage, and communicate to someone you bring into your organization. There is an incredible value in understanding the personality of someone and how they are going to fit into the organization, however I am not a fan of putting a lot of weight into a personality assessment for the hiring decision. Today’s guest will talk about why it is beneficial to do these personality assessments, the DISC assessment specifically. Gregory talks about how you can use the DISC assessment to evaluate your own traits that you hadn’t analyzed or defined before. You can also use these assessments to analyze the personalities of the people on your team. This is an incredible value because as you learn to analyze the personalities of the people on your team, it will help open up channels of communication. It will also help you better understand ways to convey a message to someone, and how to receive a message from someone based on their personality. As a leader in your organization, it is incredibly important to learn how to adapt to these communication styles so that you can communicate your vision effectively. This is something you will never be able to effectively do that without understanding the personalities of your team. In this episode we will talk about people versus processes and how to effectively evaluate your team, and the communication gaps we sometimes face. ~ Business Playmakers podcast is excited to present the Owner and CEO of Gray Solutions LLC, Executive Life Coach, and Business Owner Freedom Podcast Host, Gregory Gray. Gregory spent the beginnings of his career in the corporate world, specifically in the manufacturing space. Like many entrepreneurs, Gregory saw a need for some things to be done differently which led to him stepping out of the corporate world in 2010 to be a Consultant for Leadership and Organizational Development. Since then, Gregory’s consulting firm has taken off and Gregory has a thriving business as an Executive Life Coach in which according to his LinkedIn profile, he seeks to educate and inspire while helping to build a life of joy and purpose. Gregory is also a Business Advisor for BusinessOwnerFreedom.com where he helps business owners to get control of their business so as to give them more freedom in the areas of time, money, and purpose.  As Kyle talks about in his opening dialogue, he and Gregory have in depth conversations around personality assessments, and how to effectively use them in business. Business Playmakers podcast is excited to present Tomas Keenan, Co Founder and CEO of Top Class Installations. At a young age, Tomas fell in love with the installation, and fabrication of custom car audio. Tomas decided he knew more about the car audio business than the people he worked for, so he chose to start his own business, Exquisite Mobile Electronics Inc., which he ran for 5 years. As technology advanced, Tomas found that many vehicles were coming from the factory with better quality car audio systems, so it became difficult to sustain a profitable business. Tomas had to make the hardest decision he had ever had to make in his life, to close the business he had started. After about 3 years, Tomas and his previous business partner decided to start another business, Top Class Installation. Tomas and his partner were doing well, however found that they didn’t have a specific focus, and decided to only do installations of GPS tracking and dash cameras in commercial vehicles. Even though this is not the type of business that they set out to do, Tomas and his partner saw this as an opportunity to run a sustainable business while still pursuing their passion. As Kyle mentions in this podcast, it is often hard to determine the difference between an opportunity and a distraction. During the conversation, Tomas mentions that when first starting out as an entrepreneur, you do what ever you have to in order to keep the business running. Even though something helped pay the bills when your business needed revenue, it may not be something you enjoyed or what you even wanted to do after your business was established. That is an example of a distraction. In the case of Tomas and his partner deciding to niche into a certain type of business, it was an opportunity and they are glad they made the decision. The conversation between Kyle and Tomas is one of the best on the Business Playmakers podcast, and you are sure to enjoy it. Thanks for listening and please be sure to subscribe and review the podcast!   Top Class Installations is an industry leader and have been featured in multiple publications. My guest on this episode of #SellingWithSocial knows that as well as anyone. Kyle Porter is the co-founder and CEO of Salesloft - a global business that serves the sales industry with amazing personalization and email delivery systems and assessment. This conversation centers around Kyle’s sales leadership journey - his mistakes, lessons learned, and the attitudes toward growth that have made him the incredible sales leader he is today. You’ll hear the slips and fumbles he made in the early days, the role mentors have played in his life, the skills and habits he’s developed to grow his leadership - and more. It doesn't matter what role you find yourself in - an aspiring or established sales leader - Kyle has many hard-learned and valuable insights to share, so be sure you listen to this episode. Capitalize On 53% Of Customer Loyalty Being Derived In The Sales Experience A recent study reveals this fact: 53% of customer loyalty - something we all want - is derived in the sales experience. Stop and think about that. The WAY the person is sold to has the greatest influence on their decision to be faithful to your company or not. That fact is something sales leaders should pay close attention to because it means that your sales team’s approach and methods are of vital importance over the long haul. Kyle shares how he’s seen this reality play out, both in the way Salesloft has grown over the years and in the many experiences his team has as they work with customers on their email sales campaigns. He also shares practical training approaches sales leaders can take to model and implement the right sales approach. His advice leads to long-term success, not short-term wins that spoil future opportunities. Listen to learn how! Secrets to Sales Leadership That Wins Many of the things you hear referred to as “secrets” are not secrets at all - they are simply the result of time and experience, hard-learned lessons most people don’t want to work long enough to experience. But for those willing to endure, keep trying, and learn from it, those so-called secrets come to light. Kyle Porter is a leader who relentlessly pursues growth, no matter the cost. When sharing his advice for sales leaders in this episode, Kyle highlights these important points about those who are successful in sales leadership… Leaders fail. They recognize it, admit it, and then share with the people around them so the entire team can learn and grow. After a failure, great leaders develop a course of action to improve, measure changes, and make adjustments. Successful leaders surround themselves with people who can help them improve - coaches, other leaders on the team, supportive spouses, and mentors. Growing leaders cultivate a culture that enables the team to call them out when needed... and they accept and grow from the interaction. These are just some of the things Kyle shares. You can hear him explain them and illustrate how great leaders apply these lessons, on this episode. To Be A Great Leader You Must Be Both Symphony And Metallica The kind of sales leadership that leads teams to long-lasting results is not easy to implement. Kyle says that leaders have to find a harmonious balance between many seemingly opposing approaches throughout the course of their leadership tenure. Some examples: The leader must be nurturing but challenging. They must be loving and yet willing to reprimand when appropriate. They learn to praise while coaching team members up to a higher level. These roles - and many more - have to be implemented appropriately and with a continual eye toward balance. These same traits can also be applied to the sales process itself - there must be a harmonious balance of the human, empathetic, curious side and the scientific, repeatable, process-oriented side. As Kyle puts it, a great leader must be both symphony and Metallica. How Sales Leaders Build Great Teams During one section of our conversation, Kyle and I dove into a discussion of the difficult process of establishing the right team. I drew from my experience in building Vengreso from the ground up, while Kyle tapped into the lessons he learned building Salesloft. We came up with a number of common questions sales leaders need to ask themselves… Who do you have on the team? Are they the right people to get you where you need to go? Are they coachable to allow you to take them where they need to be? Are they interested in and aware of their own areas of needed growth? Seriously considering these questions and their answers will help you assess potential and existing team members to determine if they are the right people in the right roles who will get your sales organization where it’s going. Don’t miss this conversation. The leadership lessons and insights Kyle shares are invaluable. This article is very dense and has a lot of different ideas making up its thesis, so we didn't feel we could contain the discussion within a single episode. Therefore it's a two-part episode, with this being the second part. Both parts are free and not bonus premium episodes.  Subscribers to Patreon will have access to a combined version of this episode with the full two hour interview as one file however. Dr. Kom Kunyosying completed a Ph.D. in English at the University of Oregon where he studied the overlap between iconic and ethnic representation in U.S. comics in relation to other visual and prose media. He has published essays on the rise of geek culture for Jump Cut (with Carter Soles) and on metonymy and ecology in Charles Burns’s Black Hole for Interdisciplinary Studies Literature Environment. His essay with Carter Soles, “The Walking Dead’s Hyperreal Hillbilly: Horror, Melodrama, and Backwoods White Protagonists,” is in the forthcoming anthology, "There's Us and the Dead": Identity Politics in The Walking Dead (McFarland). He teaches Writing and Literature at Nashua Community College. He can be contacted at kkunyosying@ccsnh.edu. Dr. Carter Soles completed a Ph.D. at University of Oregon. Carter Soles is Assistant Professor of Film Studies in the English Department at The College at Brockport (SUNY). His research interests include geek studies, gender and identity studies, film authorship, and the comedy and horror genres. He has published articles on the queerness of the independent film Chuck&Buck (2000) for Jump Cut and on the figure of the hillbilly in 1970's horror cinema for The Eco-Cinema Reader(Routledge, 2012). As Kyle becomes increasingly uninhibited and less geeky, he at the same time is shown embracing stereotypical blackness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz3SOdEw0LY. This culminates with nerdy Kyle bedding a large, very sensual black woman, interestingly shown in animal print, as the final step in conquering his repression and reclaiming his manhood. Note the animal print the black woman is wearing (nature, animalistic). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=281lLnMhKVI  Like Crumb's Whiteman, sex with the primal, primitive, hyper sexual black woman is transformative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-Ly36Bdmcw. This is taken further when we see how much more masculine Kyle is portrayed in the afterglow of the sexual encounter. Also note his friend explicitly asks if he had sex with an animal, a subtle dehumanization. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnjGj3rx1N0. The Postmodern Geekdom article has more examples of this trope of geeks using black slumming as a way to reclaim primal masculinity. If you’re wondering if I have any Christian friends left, yes I do. Kyle is one of them. You may remember Kyle from the REJECTED EPISODE. You know, the episode that was too far for the "Christian Organization" to put out. Kyle is on the show this time as my guest. As I continue the journey of deconstruction of faith, I no longer call myself a Christian. As Kyle has, he no longer calls himself an Evangelical. In this episode, we talk about this as well as engaging into the inadequacy of defining truth, embracing other religions, and theological differences we hold.
