En: One sunny morning in Paris, Jean, an American tourist, ventured into a bakery at the end of a little cobblestone street. He had come to seek the authentic taste of France in a crispy croissant. En: Inside the bakery, the warm and sweet smell of fresh bread filled the air. The shelves were filled with varieties of bread and pastries freshly out of the oven. The baker, a warm lady named Marie, was busy preparing a new batch. En: Enchanted by the scene, Jean approached the counter. "I would like a...one croissant, please," he said with a strong American accent that immediately brought smiles. Her mouth formed the word, rolling softly on the 'r' and emphasizing the 's' ending with a soft 'nt' sound. "Parfait, Jean ! Vous avez maintenant l'air d'un vrai Français."En: Jean was confused but intrigued. He tried to repeat the word, paying particular attention to the pronunciation. After several attempts, Marie smiled in satisfaction. "Perfect, Jean! En: Thus, Jean not only experienced the authentic taste of France in his crispy croissant but also a valuable language lesson. This intimate interaction with Marie left a lasting impression on him. It was more than he had expected when he ordered his first French croissant. En: Eventually, Jean walked back into the streets of Paris, a crispy croissant in hand and the word correctly pronounced in his mind. "A croissant," he repeated with a triumphant smile. En: And so, the sunny day in Paris had taught Jean something that no book or language app could: the inherent grace of the French language and the warmth of its people. Jean's simple story of ordering a croissant in Paris was not just a language lesson but also an exploration of the intimate and charming French culture. En: On the intimidating banks of the Danube stood János, tired of the noise of the city. He noticed that Budapest, the destination of his business trip, abounded in complicated Hungarian words. So he decided to pronounce these difficult words, whether wrinkles formed on his forehead or not.Hu: A mellette álló Ágnes, a barátnője és helyi idegenvezetője, észrevette a furcsa próbálkozását. Ágnes mosolygott János bonyolult szavakba való belebonyolódásán. Ahogy János próbált kiigazodni a mássalhangzók, hosszú magánhangzók és szokatlan hangsúlyok dzsungelén, Ágnes egyszerűen csak rázta a fejét.En: Agnes, his girlfriend and local tour guide standing beside him, noticed his strange attempt. Agnes smiled at János's entanglement in complicated words. As János tried to navigate through the jungle of consonants, long vowels, and unusual accents, Agnes simply shook her head. En: Meanwhile, far away in Transylvania, there was another peculiar situation. István, a Hungarian traveler, stood on the terrace and whispered romantic words to his neighbor, Mária. However, István was not accustomed to the local language and sometimes mixed Hungarian and Romanian words in his speech. En: Mária smiled at István's confused words. Then she laughed. The confusion was much sweeter than the power of words. The words bewildered István, but Mária's heart beat faster and faster. En: At the end of the short stories, both couples were happy. János finally managed to pronounce the complicated Hungarian words, and Ágnes's laughter was music to his ears. István, on the other hand, realized that words were not essential. What mattered was that Mária loved him. Minden nehézség ellenére, a kiejthetetlen szavak mindenhol kiejthetők, a szeretet minden nyelvén. En: The conclusion of closing a story is simple. People struggle with languages, but if they do it with love and humor, every language can be learned and every heart can be won. Fluent Fiction - Hungarian: Budapest: A Carnival of Surprises and Love Find the full episode transcript, vocabulary words, and more:fluentfiction.org/budapest-a-carnival-of-surprises-and-love Story Transcript:Hu: Budapest, a Duna kapuja. En: Budapest, the gateway of the Danube. Here there are no indifferent people, only a boundless carnival of colors, scents, and sounds. Rich history and vibrant life go hand in hand in this place, where the past and the present meet. Gábor and Eszter have always loved this place, and now, in the summer sunset, they were here again, where they first met. En: Gábor walked stooped on the stairs, looking for a resting place after a long day. Eszter followed, with a smile on her face, enjoying the summer sunshine and the hustle and bustle of the city. Gábor noticed a piece of marble in the corner and headed in that direction. He was surprised by the table and the seating arrangement, which he thought was a bench. There were no signs, no warnings. He sat down. En: Eszter ran after him, but it was too late. As Gábor sat down on the "bench," a sudden, dazzling light indicated that it was nothing more than a statue. Eszter started laughing uncontrollably, and her laughter echoed far and wide in the city. Gábor paused, surprised and completely perplexed by what had just happened.Hu: Eszter a földön fetrengve nevetett, Gábor pedig zavartan nézett körbe, próbálva felfogni, mi történt. Végül odament Eszterhez, és segített neki felállni.En: Eszter was rolling on the ground with laughter, and Gábor looked around, bewildered, trying to understand what had happened. En: "I didn't know it was a statue," Gábor said, and Eszter laughed even louder. But as Eszter's laughter subsided and the city returned to its normal state, they both made a decision. There was nothing wrong with what had happened. This was life, full of surprises and oddities.Hu: "Gábor," mondta Eszter, a könnyektől csillogó szemekkel. Köszönöm."En: "Gábor," Eszter said, her eyes sparkling with tears. "I don't know how intentional your prank was, but you made me laugh incredibly. Thank you."Hu: Gábor mosolygott, és odasétált a szoborhoz. Felállt rá, és tágas kilátás tárult elé. Lelépett róla, majd elindult Eszter felé.En: Gábor smiled and walked towards the statue. He stood on it and a spacious view opened up before him. He stepped off and headed towards Eszter.Hu: "Nincs mit, Eszter," válaszolta. "Ez csak Budapest. Mindig meglepetésekkel van tele."En: "You're welcome, Eszter," he replied. "This is just Budapest. It's always full of surprises."Hu: Aznap este nem volt több meglepetés. En: There were no more surprises that evening. Just Eszter's laughter and Gábor's smile as they wandered through the city and relived those moments. The chronicle of their lives enriched with another chapter, written not by Gábor's intentional prank, but by an unexpected scene. They learned that mistakes are always opportunities, and even the smallest things can create lasting memories. That's why they loved Budapest, and each other, and why they knew they would always come back. On The Guest:  Today's coaching session features Jessa Reed. She is the owner of her own cleaning business which won “The Best of the Mountains Award” in 2020 taking first place for Best Cleaning Service. She also was the first in her immediate family to graduate college with a B.A. in psychology. Jessa has gone through a lot from being a child of divorce and abandonment by a parent to ending an 8-year relationship, to finding love again and then loss again and having to rebuild from square one. Jessa came to me with more questions about life rather than strictly about creativity. The truth is that sometimes we need to answer very basic questions about self-love and self-trust in order to get to a place where we can fully unleash and this conversation and coaching session reflects just that. From this conversation you'll learn: How to balance your personal life and also being a creative How to drop the charges on yourself & be kinder to yourself The steps to reframing your thoughts  How to get excited about your life and creativity  How to look at your life through loving eyes Why we're every age we've ever been  How to start healing the inner child How to stop self-sabotaging  The TRUTH about consistency and how to create more of the good kind -Remember to subscribe/follow the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods.
