May 16 2025- Used Needles Pile Up As Public Played For Suckers

The Great Canadian Talk Show

Episode 23 revisits a serious issue plaguing Winnipeg for years- discarded used needles strewn all over parks and public walkways. In Part 1 we explain how the surge started around 2018, after "harm reduction" advocates and unaccountable WRHA officials were allowed to discontinue needle return targets from their massive free needle giveaways. Through their agents in the health care field the WRHA have handed out millions of needles since, yet refuse to provide data on how many they claim they've been picking up.Our analysis of this week's report about a city pick-up program shows 50% of the dirty rigs were within walking distance of the Legislature. This seems to prove the supposed need for a drug user site is outside Premier Wab Kinew's office, and not in Point Douglas. You'll hear an explanation why Mayor Gillingham's statement to the media on the issue lacks credibility: “If there is any agency that is distributing needles… I think it's up to those agencies also to be part of the solution in getting those needles back, rather than having needles just go out, be used and end up in a park where children play… This is about the health and safety of the public.”City Councillors- including Gillingham - knew years ago what steps could be taken to mitigate the problem, including requiring needle return rates and colour coded needles to trace which agency was giving them out. Instead of taking responsibility when we reported on these facts in 2019, Coun. Cindy Gilroy now has to plead for priority clean-ups of inner-city parks, taking tax dollars away from other programs. This crisis is a Brian Bowman legacy- he pressured police to coddle criminals and addicts who learned there was no consequence to their endangering the health of children and the safety of the community. As Bowman's right hand man on Council then, Gillingham cannot distance himself now from his refusal to take action and allowing the risk of "harm reduction" programs to be offloaded unto children and other park users. 18.50 Part 2 - The latest columns in the Winnipeg Sun by Marty Gold on the Rezoning Open Houses and Parking Authority towing fiasco get a quick recap, plus a look at what's coming up in the Sun and on the podcasts- including West End businesses fighting crime, questions about this year's Pride parade on June 1, and an interview with North Kildonan councillor Jeff Browaty.*******The funding campaign for Season Six has broken the $1000 barrier- and if you like the breaking news and analysis we produce, it's made possible by YOUR contributions! Our $10,000 budget is set to cover online hosting and production costs, transportation and research expenses, and make sure the office lights stay on so we can continue to upholdthe tradition of investigative journalism in Winnipeg! To Donate via PayPal- paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMediaTo Donate via E-Transfer, or to support by cheque, cash, advertising or other means - martygoldlive@gmail.com

In Episode 35 you'll hear the story of our big scoop in the Winnipeg Sun, getting word out of the location of the NDP's planned "Safe Consumption Site". It ruined their attempt to stage-manage the public consultation process and divide the Point Douglas community. The controversy continued to play out today but with the cat out of the bag, Premier Wab Kinew is desperate to maintain control of public opinion and squelch opposition. Part 1- Readers and Listeners across Manitoba continue to voice enthusiastic support for the style and content of our efforts to get right down ta' business and tell it like it is at City Hall and at the Legislature. You'll hear some comments and insights into the issues we are covering for the community. There's also a brief review of our Sun analysis last Sunday after we discovered the City of Winnipeg has no data about how many free needles are given out in Winnipeg, and how many dirty rigs are tossed onto our streets and parks, spreading danger and disease. https://winnipegsun.com/opinion/columnists/gold-free-needles-how-many-the-city-of-winnipeg-is-hiding-the-facts How can Mayor Scott Gillingham stand up to the WRHA and make sure they make it right? 16.00 Part 2- Marty Gold explains how the Kinew government couldn't keep the location a secret, and why they wanted their "harm reduction" den address kept from Point Douglas residents and property owners as long as possible. The Sun website has the scoop- Safe Consumption Site location not-so-secret any more Learn about the far-left ideology that demotes public safety and the role of affected residents in the consultation process, and bestows special status on strung-out drug addicts. That's one big reason why there's almost no restaurants open for late night customers, affecting the quality of life for all Winnipeggers. The Point Douglas Residents Association has voiced not only concerns about the possible consequences of a magnet for drug users in their neighborhood, but say that this situation reveals a weakness in the representation available by their MLA and on City Council. 31.00- Hear how the rest of the Winnipeg media scrambled to cover the story, with none of them crediting that the Sun broke the news; then you'll hear the lie told by the Health Minister that resulted in our follow-up report today, proving there was serious pushback against her PR campaign. ‘Homelessness is a business': Pushing back on NDP's proposed drug user hub From a reader: "As much I hate to say it, Audrey Gordon was a lot better health minister then Ozuma Asagwara" 37.35- Part 3— More about the relentless siege of 500 Waterfront, with details about the way CentreVenture misled the owner about how the street was going to be "the Tuxedo of downtown"; instead he's had to spend $40,000 to keep his tenants and employees safe. Stolen water, stolen electricity, and meth users staggering into the building and parking lot causing damage and disorder, all of which he's told Gillingham, Kinew and dozens of city offiicals and non-profit managers about. He says it started with Brian Bowman putting his career goals ahead of the public, lest he be accused of "racism" for having law and order imposed on the homeless criminals. He says that the "shooting gallery will turn Winnipeg into Vancouver." 45.50- A Free Press columnist smeared the residents and property owners being concerned about more crime being caused near the planned drug site as spreading "misinformation." What is misinformation, is Tom Brodbeck ignoring the lived experience of people in Vancouver and Edmonton and of folks in Toronto, where a woman was shot and killed in a gun battle between drug dealers outside a user site. What Brodbeck got wrong, is denying that "Harm Reduction" causes harm to the neighbourhoods; what he got right was, Kinew tried to skirt proper and transparent consultation, and may pay a political price for it. Oct 7 2024- Browaty Says Plan20-50 Problems Started With Pallister

Our interview with North Kildonan Councilor Jeff Browaty went so well, we took it into overtime to get his thoughts on the biggest regional story of the summer for Episode 25! The collapse of the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region's vaunted Plan20-50 started with Marty Gold's column in the Winnipeg Sun alerting the public of the serious flaws stakeholders exposed at first Public Hearing. Then when 600 concerned citizens showed up for the next hearing in Niverville- the WMR postponed the session until a bigger venue could be found. But the tide had turned. Rural municipalities spoke out with their own concerns about the WMR itself, the power grab to control elected RM councils, and the 'Winnipeg veto'. Winnipeg councillors were remarkably silent about Gillingham not bringing the plan back to City Council for their review and approval- something Gillingham voted for when Brian Bowman was mayor. And so did Jeff Browaty. We need your help! The Season 5 Funding Drive is within $2500 of our budget goal! Click here to donate today Part 1- Marty updates the audience on the Winnipeg Sun's shift to a broadsheet format, the closure of 4 more 7-Elevens and the failure of civic leaders, and the fear of cat killers roaming the inner city - which CBC and the Free Press refuse to report. Then you'll hear why the RM of Macdonald has also rejected Plan20-50. That is 12 (out of 18) Metro members to turn thumbs down on it. 14.10 Part 2- An EPC member, Browaty doesn't recall if Council was briefed on the Open House held by the WMR last November- and was not aware of the proposed 10 year hold to making changes to Plan20-50. He says the problems of the "well intended plan" are rooted in being a "creature of the Brian Pallister regime." "Their communications were abhorrently bad. It was all concentrated power in the Premier's office, he didn't like talking to people whether it was his Ministers, to the media, to the public." Browaty addresses what he calls "conspiracy theories" of Plan20-50 opponents - "Is there going to be some shock collar or toll gate or Checkpoint Charlie to prevent you from going beyond your area? Nooo... these Capital Region reeves are not these WEF folks, they're good Joe Lunchbox municipal leaders." 21.40 - Regarding the City Transportation2050 plan which is subject to any over-riding Metro blueprint, "I don't think most residents have any interest or care." The large crowd in Niverville was drawn under "false pretences", Browaty insists. "We aren't going to be restricting peoples movements," and will table a motion to confirm it: "Yes yes, if it makes people feel better, absolutely." Agreeing that any revised plan needs to have proper public consultation, he's focused on protecting "the Winnipeg advantage", and mentions the surrounding RMs need to pick up some of our "heavy costs". 27.30 - Meanwhile, dissenting RMs mentioned WMR fees and costs- and Browaty agrees. "You're right, those consulting dollars were not small." He describes getting earlier briefings about Plan20-50 but he saw "nothing eye-pokingly problematic" and as for feedback from NK residents, "the concerns were about stuff I don't think are going to see the light of day." Browaty calls Plan20-50 "basically dead in the water" but maintains, "there's a big advantage to better coordinating the Capital Region." "Let's find a way where we can sell the Region," he concludes, after agreeing to ensure Council will vote on any future blueprint. 36.20 Part 3 - Marty has a bit about Pallister, more about Browaty's comments, and a lot about how the local media can't give credence to the Hail Mary PR blitz of Plan20-50 supporters or call the rebellious RMs misinformed. Also- we're looking at holding a Town Hall - Interested? Let us know! Another in our series of interviews with elected officials, as North Kildonan councilor Jeff Browaty steps up to the plate in Episode 24. Part 1- Marty recaps his recent reports in the Winnipeg Sun about riverbank homeless encampments and the town hall held by St. Vital councilor Brian Mayes. 7.40 Part 2- Jeff Browaty has guested on TGCTS since he was first elected, and is always ready to talk about City Hall. First he's asked about homelessness and crime in his ward- while "not an ongoing, persistent issue," as in other wards, he says, "we're on it." 13.00- Browaty shares concerns about our Sun report describing garbage and filth piling up on the river banks, and the effect on the adjacent communities and on boaters. He was surprised by how many encampments we identified, and confirms that City Council does not get regular reports on encampments. - Other ward problems includes poor road conditions and potholes on regional roads. He explains that planned bridge repairs on Lagamodiere at Concordia will reduce traffic to only 2 lanes and is urging Public Works to get any work needed on Henderson in 2025. This work is made possible because listeners and readers generously donate support towards our costs. That way, we can continue to deliver the interviews, investigations and analysis. The target to the end of October is $2545 - and you can use the links on our Donate page to contribute to the Season 5 Fundraising Drive! 21.00- Although the transit piece of the city Transportation2050 plan is being re-examined because of council voting to scale back the new transit garage, Browaty says "I'm not convinced" promised bus service levels won't be met. - He reveals there's an idea to keep the to-be-mothballed North Main bus garage in use, rather than sell it off. 24.00- While city officials intend to study adding light rail to the public transit menu, Browaty recognizes the huge costs and relative lack of environmental benefits may work against the concept. "Building these new super-dense suburbs" is adding to gridlock. 27.00 - "I don't feel particularly safe, to be honest, Marty." While he only uses transit service a few times a month, Browaty has seen plenty of incidents illustrating the public disorder and danger users face. Hear him describe what he saw on a Sunday trip in August, including open drug and alcohol use. E-transfers, sponsor inquiries, comments, news tips- martygoldlive@gmail.com 33.00 Part 3- Browaty wants revenue flowing into 510 Main Street- but rejects calls for a City Sales Tax, citing the affordability crisis. - On overall debt- "We're lower than the average" among Canadian cities and "we're fairly prudent in terms of the amount of debt we have." - It's the "gorilla in the room" for taxpayers. The five-term councillor is "really worried about the upcoming Water and Sewer Rate Report ." It's due out around the New Year. The skyrocketing north end treatment plant costs need support from the province and feds. Without it, Browaty says, there's a risk water and sewer bills could exceed property tax bills. - Within 3 or 4 years, adding new subdivisions could be off the table unless sewage capacity is increased. 39.20- A talk about the responsibility of long-time councilors like Browaty and others who served on Brian Bowman's EPC and went along with his high-priced schemes. The City only has about $150M in borrowing space left. Recent studies and polls show a crisis of crime and violence in Winnipeg- and that the public isn't confident in City Hall's ability to deal with it. Browaty points a finger at Justin Trudeau's revolving door justice, and wants more and better policing. "I'm as frustrated as anybody else," he says, and notes "the Premier is saying the right things" about crime. In terms of hiring a new police chief, "we also need somebody who understands what we need to do to stop people from going down the downward spirals." You'll hear more soon from Councilor Browaty about the WMR Plan20-50!

A classic 3 segment TGCTS Podcast is set for your Easter weekend listening! Part 1 - We open Episode 31 with your comments about Nahanni Fontaine's March Madness- and we add a few more issues we didn't mention yet, to the storm of controversy around her and her department. When the NDP froze foster care per diems in 2012, did Fontaine ever tell Greg Selinger it was harming indigenous kids? Of course not, that might have resulted in losing her plum position as "Aboriginal Women's Advisor." And she'd never have gotten the NDP nomination in St. John's. 18:50 Part 2- A brief explanation of the very negative consequences of the NDP regressing to a 1-1 ratio for trades apprentice supervision. Marty Gold explains what will result: less trainees, less trainers, less training, less homebuilding, more costs to you. The NDP-supporting union is happy with that. 24.00- Happyland Park Pool supporters aren't giving up- but a letter to Mayor Gillingham and city council shows how far trust in City Hall has fallen in the neighbourhood. What will Matt Allard do to help their last-ditch fundraising, and to prevent the City from arbitrarily bulldozing the pool while they try to save it? And speaking of St Boniface, Mrs. Mike's on Tache wants to resume operations and was told it could take up to TWO MONTHS for an Occupancy Permit. Maybe Allard doesn't eat burgers, but thousands of Winnipeggers do. We've asked Allard to get things speeded up and not let St. B be treated like the North End of the South End, yet again. 34.00 Newsmaker of the Year Andrew Marquess doesn't trust City Hall either, and why should he? City planners have invented yet another obstacle to approval of his Fulton Grove housing plan- and of all things, Coun. John Orlikow is empaneled to decide on it. 39:55 Part 3 - Crime Courts and Public Safety Update - A Rally for Justice took place last week, and while the Free Press slanted their coverage to fit their narrative, we will be having organizer Mike Vogiatzakis on the podcast in the next few weeks to talk about his cause seeking to abolish catch-and-release policing. - Two business stories: one a move and expansion, the other of business misadventure forcing a sale, with one thing in common- crime is badly affecting their sectors. It's Brian Bowman's legacy, that never gets pinned on him like it should. - 49.35- Councilor Janice Lukes still hasn't responded to our request for an interview but took a moment to compliment the police for handing out speeding tickets on the South Perimeter highway. That's never been done before by city cops because it's a provincial road handled by the RCMP. Predatory speed traps aren't legitimized just because drivers are duped into thinking the ticket was legal- and it's another reason why no one trusts City Councilors to have their backs. Considering the last spate of tickets near there handed out by cops were dropped by the Crown as illegal - as the Designated Construction Zone didn't include the area they were enforcing the extra-penalty citations - we suggest Lukes makes sure these pass the sniff test before handing out the flowers. At that point it isn't a street fight, it's life or death combat.” He added a few comments about the weak police chief and the Children's Advocate, “who blames society for these kids' violence while at the same time depicts them as victims of society.” - Two weeks late, CBC discovers Bell MTS Is forcing exodus from Brandon! We explain what little the high paid "professional journalists” added in the 18 extra days they had to cover the story since we broke the news to the public, and what key details they missed. Why didn't CBC mention the extensive contracting out overseas while rural jobs are chopped? We'll have more about the Bell MTS layoffs in an upcoming episode. This work is entirely funded by YOUR support. Check out our Donate page - it's easier than ever to make a contribution and help us continue to serve the public. 19:22 Part 2- After a personal note from former CBC mainstay Judy Waytiuk, we took a closer look at the emerging opposition to the proposed Portage and Main concourse closure- as we predicted. "In the concourse there is an iconic, 415 foot long sculpted concrete wall by Bruce Head (her late husband.) City engineers will almost certainly find it cannot be saved and moved; it is an integral part of the load-bearing structural wall that runs all the way around the concourse interior." And that's not all. The veteran journalist examined the "fuzzy numbers" used by Mayor Scott Gillingham to justify the 'savings' an underground closure brings and asked a smart question: "If, as the mayor suggested after some outcry, mostly from this furious widow, somebody figures out how the artwork could be moved elsewhere, what would that cost? Carve out 415 feet of 12 foot tall concrete pieces, hoist them up, cart them off someplace, and ... well, I'm no engineer, but that sounds like a huge multi-million dollar feat to try to pull off. The whole close the concourse/move the art thing, would very likely match or even exceed the cost of repairs." As she explains, at no point did any of the reports City Hall is relying on even contemplate closing the concourse, or removing the 52 concrete panels which Waytiuk maintains are also part of the load-bearing intersection support. And speaking of support: "Out there in the media, I may look like what CBC news insultingly referred to the other day as "one woman". I'm not just "one woman". 32:08 Part 3- "Building owners stunned by Portage and Main underground closure proposal", wrote the Free Press. The Building Owners and Managers Association of Manitoba warned councilors to “carefully consider the ramifications” of shuttering underground access. Tom Thiessen of BOMA noted the misinformation campaign around the projected $73M cost as only $29M is pegged to repair of the waterproofing membrane and the rest are costs the City would likely incur anyways for above-ground work. Most importantly, he skewered the administration for not setting aside money for repairs in the Brian Bowman days. Why plan ahead? Thiessen also raised the effect on property valuations for nearby stakeholders if indoor passage across the corners is removed. With the MMF claiming that their heritage centre at the Bank of Montreal building will host 1 million visitors, Marty Gold wonders how it makes sense to add that kind of volume to the corners while blocking access to a weather-protected concourse. Coming up: Globe-trotting NDP Minister Nahanni Fontaine plays her role; more on Bell MTS layoffs; your feedback

In more of "What's old is new again", the dream of the urban visionary crowd to open Portage and Main to pedestrians is back on the civic agenda. In Episode 22 you'll hear a breakdown of the economics that Mayor Scott Gillingham says has led him to be for it- after he was against it. In contrast to 4 council members standing with the Mayor at the announcement, Coun. Brian Mayes of St. Vital argued that Gillingham is ignoring not only the 2018 plebiscite result, but possible alternatives, and is being divisive. 12.15 - Coun. Russ Wyatt took to the podium on Friday after the Mayor was done- and you'll hear a brief comment the Transcona representative made before staff shut down the microphone. Wyatt also flagged that the report was written by a city planner, not an engineer. You'll hear questions a listener with professional experience raised, about the waterproofing membrane that's failing and about validity of the study. The numbers seem to prove there's little to no difference in the costs to repair the corner - $73M - compared to opening it up, which would entail a big price tag to mothball the Circus concourse underground. To send story tips, comments, and contribute support via Interac- Email martygoldlive@gmail.com Has the City report factored in increased emergency response costs, including inevitable pedestrian incidents and traffic flow delays? And, as one listener suggested, "There will be fights over panhandling spots." Marty speaks out about the potential ruinous ripple effect on the quality of life in St. Boniface for area residents, businesses and the Hospital, if Portage and Main gets the urban vision dream of walkers crossing a wind tunnel at street level. 21:31 Part 2- "The closing of Portage and Main to pedestrian traffic in 1978 was a major step forward in terms of pedestrian safety and traffic flow in downtown Winnipeg." That's what the mainstream media won't tell you - but we will. When bumbling Brian Bowman tried to leverage the issue going into the 2018 civic election, a retired cop set the record straight. Former deputy police chief Menno Zaharias wrote: "Then there was Portage and Main. The intersection from hell in terms of traffic and traffic duty... but then add pedestrians to the mix and it was a nightmare."  Listen to the column Zacharias posted that described the mayhem in winter as drivers and walkers struggled for traction, and the resulting gridlock. Ask your own councilor if they can refute the conclusion of Menno Zacharias: "The re-opening of Portage and Main to pedestrian traffic would be a great plan if your end objective was to bog down the center of Winnipeg into a total rush hour gridlock and at the same time endanger the lives of pedestrians." We add to his historic observations with the modern-day potential of needing police on-site round the clock to maintain public safety. Marty Gold sees the rush to push this through council at the same time they are handling budget debates, as a return to the anti-democratic 'walk-on motion' tactic in the Sam Katz era. This episode I speak with Brian Bowman, learning strategist, capability expert and digital learning guru in Australia Pacific on how a leader can have a career conversation with their direct reports. When my company, Brainpower Training, won a tender to deliver customized Report Writing for Audit workshops in multiple cities for one of Australia's largest banks, Brian Bowman held a People and Culture role at that bank. We worked together closely to roll out those Report Writing programs. TALKING POINTS [6:40] So the career conversation for the leader is actually themselves having to step out of the day-to-day and ask, “Where do you want to go?” [7:30] Good questions to ask . . . “What brings you joy?” Because it gets people to think about, “When I'm in flow, when I'm really enjoying work, this is what I'm doing.” ”What are you drawn to?” is another really great question. People will naturally gravitate across their work day to things they really love and enjoy doing. You can ask people, “What do you want to do at work?” [11:00] The joy question can be offset with, “What do you hate doing?” It's such a brilliant way of exploring that career conversation. [13:00] Careers aren't linear, they might do a bit over here or something there. [14:00] People have different stages of their career. There might be a 3-year cycle. Nov 28 2023- Langside Murders Derail “#3 Most Liveable” Lie

Episode 28 is a Crime Courts and Public Safety report: shocking developments in Winnipeg have submarined a public relations effort by prominent officials to portray our city as "the best blend of everything Canada has to offer." A Saturday Globe and Mail clickbait article of "Canada's most liveable cities" placed Winnipeg at #3 Overall. WRHA head honcho Dr. Joss Reimer took to Twitter to cheerlead the rankings. But while Reimer, Mayor Scott Gillingham, and the urban visionary messiahs hopped on the bandwagon - "#1 for raising kids!" - another set of 'data-driven rankings' exposed the absurdity of their campaign. Because as the Globe piece said, "Even if you could afford to live there, would you want to?" Marty Gold reveals the Crime Severity Index and the inconvenient facts that MSM won't tell Winnipeg. You'll hear how just how violent StatsCAN says Winnipeg scores at after the 8 year term of Brian Bowman as Mayor, and which categories we are shamefully number one in. This is his legacy. Among neighborhoods with a violence score over 700, Winnipeg make up 9 of the most 10 dangerous in the country - and 17 of the worst 26. And at number 26: West Broadway. 16:57 Part 2 - We recap the mystery surrounding the shooting spree inside a Langside St. rooming house on Sunday morning - with unreported details of the history of the property and of the drug-dealing past of one of the 4 victims. A local newspaper managed to print 2 different versions of life on Langside, but only one is correct. We compare a local government-funded community patrol claim that "West Broadway is normally a pretty quiet neighborhood" with the lived experience of a mother who "has heard yelling and fighting and gunshots often in the area." You can decide who lied. Also- an unaccomplished Liberal MP from gang-ridden Surrey, BC, tried to twist the killings into an online attack on Trudeau's opponents - and in short order Ken Hardie was exposed as a total moron for even suggesting the killings were "far-right". Meanwhile, a suburban City Councilor got the same treatment from critics for inserting the dog-whistle word "hate" into his post, which even riled up a usually mild-mannered downtown businessman. Hear all about it. 38:04 Part 3 - Court time is coming up for the Hamas-supporting "Queers4Palestine" and the other radical antisemites in Winnipeg. The railroad companies want a court injunction to stop further interference with their operations. Guess what the train-blockers were chanting for on November 20th? That's right, more killing of Jews. And they aren't alone. As you will hear, TGCTS has learned Winnipeg police are investigating an online hate-spouting video that included a well-known Winnipegger among a group praising Hamas and Hitler. Of course, they'll claim they're just "pro-Palestinian". In conclusion, Marty warns that there's a morally deceptive movement funded by Iran and other anti-West elements who want to turn our society against the concept of "Never Again". Brian Bowman, founder of Consumer Acquisition, talks about the shocks that impacted his business and led him to sell it. He discusses the challenges faced due to changes in Facebook's Value Bidding, the impact of COVID-19 on the app business, and Apple's removal of their tracking ID called IDFA. Brian shares his decision-making process for selling the company and highlights the importance of working with an investment banker during this process. He also emphasizes the need for thorough preparation before putting a business up for sale and offers insights into contract negotiation, describing it as a challenging experience. The process of finalizing the purchase agreement was complex and required constant communication and iterations between Brain Labs in the UK and the speaker's team in San Francisco. Both sides were motivated to complete the deal before the end of the year, but it involved an enormous amount of work. The speaker emphasizes the importance and value of hiring a law firm for such transactions, as they provide expertise in foreseeing potential issues and proposing solutions. The lawyers worked tirelessly, acting as litigators and fighting for their client's interests during tough negotiations. Despite being expensive, their services were considered worthwhile. The transcript also reveals that while going through this process, the speaker faced personal challenges, including strain on his marriage that required therapy. He experienced exhaustion due to working long hours and pushing himself physically. Eventually, after successfully completing the sale, he suffered a health emergency requiring emergency open heart surgery.Post-sale life was impacted by external factors like changes at Facebook and Apple affecting business performance. Additionally, health issues led to retirement from work to focus on recovery and personal well-being.Throughout this journey, Brain Labs demonstrated supportiveness towards their executive team member facing health difficulties by providing assistance when needed.Retirement was not an easy decision for the speaker because building up the business felt like raising a child. However, knowing that his team was taken care of made it easier to let go.The speaker reflects on their retirement process and the challenges of starting a new business in a chaotic market. They mention the difficulty of leaving their role as the center of their industry and the belief that founders have in the value of their stock. The speaker emphasizes the importance of maintaining personal belief and focus to be successful as an entrepreneur. They compare retiring to losing control, similar to when a child goes off to college. The speaker acknowledges that selling a business can sometimes feel like sacrificing purpose for money. Their advice for founders considering a sale is to approach it with passion and energy while also ensuring someone capable runs the existing business during the process. The speaker shares their positive experience with selling a startup compared to one that failed, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and hoping their insights are helpful.

Eadie Defends Orlikow After Integrity Commissioner Asked To Investigate Next, our investigation continues into the fight faced by residents, home owners and businesses in Point Douglas to get any relief from the rampant public disorder connected to the entrenchment of homeless camps in the area. You'll hear behind the scenes details of a terse reply a homeowner in South Point Douglas gave to a letter from a Manitoba Public Safety director- "Boilerplate responses are not action." After the DoJ official got taken to task for sidestepping responsibility for resident safety, a small but appreciated enforcement action was taken by police about 48 hours later and we have eyewitness accounts. Cause and effect? Hard to say, but it's easy to say that the TGCTS coverage of brought CBC to the table. Marty Gold reviews their report about the homeless encampments and the comments of a community leader. The current situation of intimidation, violence, fear, theft, vandalism, and murder, flows from a failed hands-off approach by the City of Winnipeg that started under former Mayor, Brian Bowman. "The disruption in lives and society is huge and I don't see it getting better." Listen carefully to what was said about the current Mayor and the area councilor who went on a tour of the problem area and offered no action. Marty describes the proof City Hall has failed the property owners and citizens of Point Douglas: the current-day experience of anxious days and sleepless nights caused by garbage, filth and round the clock criminal activity. How much did it cost to replace an industrial air conditioner unit after Pt. Douglas vagrants climbed the roof to steal the copper? It's unacceptable. We turn things inside out to start Episode 25, with the Crime Courts & Public Safety update in the leadoff position for a change: We bring together more important details from a St. Vital mother who escaped a trap set by two derelicts. As we described last week, when Rebecca Rempel returned to a mall to pick up her vehicle, she was targetted by 2 men "planning to attack me", and barely got away. It was far more harrowing than was first believed. Hear the added details she didn't mention in her original Facebook warning to women in Winnipeg, including the attempt to rob her, how a weapon was pulled out, and what she's doing to improve her self-defence techniques. Her experience ties into the crime statistics for 2022 just announced that we provide the details of: a record number of murders, property crime up by a third, and youth crime up even more than that. Violent crime approached 2009 levels- cementing the legacy of Brian Bowman's tenure as Mayor being the worst thing ever to happen for the average person and for the average business owner in this city. And we repeat the concerns about the inept chief of police, Danny Smyth, who never gets held accountable for his failures. To end the segment you'll hear about a big-picture Twitter observation by Tristan Hopper of how the class divide is resulting in crime being minimized in favour of fake social problems invented to consume government's priorities, paired with official tolerance of drug-addiction fueled social disorder. You'll want to hear Marty's assessment of the dangers Winnipeggers now face, thanks to Brian Bowman, Danny Smyth and other weak leaders. ** Support our independent citizen journalism via paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia ** 20:41 - Part 2 touches on popular topics - we note the distorted TV coverage of the Alberta election win by Premier Danielle Smith, where Rachel Notley is feted by CBC and CTV talking heads as a winner for losing twice in a row and shedding about 16 seats since 2015. Also, Justin Trudeau's dud of a visit to Winnipeg last week, and NDP MLA Lisa Naylor discovered that Tory campaign co-chair Candice Bergen isn't alone in believing Manitoba schools are left-washing students. On the City Hall beat, City finance chair Jeff Browaty had a few cautions about the projected $27 M deficit, as the police budget can't be brought under control. Lastly, a remarkable op-ed in the Free Press challenged the anti-car movement in our city and demolished the logic of unused bike lanes throttling traffic flow and the notion people will flock to crime-ridden transit buses as an alternative. The column sent a certain thin-skinned local architect howling into the abyss online- wethinks he doth protest too much. In fact, the premise of the column- that 50 years ago Mayor Steven Juba, Bill Norrie et al made a key mistake in urban transportation planning - is at the root of why our congestion problems are building Coming up in June: more on the impending St. Boniface bike lane battle, an update on the antisemitism of the University of Winnipeg junior varsity basketball team, and the Winnipeg South Centre federal by-election. Provincial budget coverage ain't what it used to be: Tom Brodbeck's column in the Free Press was full of funny backtracks compared to his pre-budget burial of the 'Hail Mary' playbook of the PC government. Is he a comedian? "It's unlikely she'll find a receptive audience" for "a decent budget" that increases key spending -and puts money back in Manitoban's wallets? What about the 'buffoonery' he predicted in his Feb. 27 column? 10:15 With leader Dougald Lamont trying to horn in on NDP turf, the Manitoba LIberal Party budget response also earns a laugh or two. Hear what really hasn't worked for decades- the MLP approach to attracting voters. 13.50 Part 2 - During the break, Marty realized there was a big-time tell in the change of headline for Brodbeck's budget analysis. First he goes over the football-play language in the budget preview story, and then breaks down Dr. Tom's new prescription for the NDP: Wab Kinew should vote against the budget - and become a right-wing New Democrat. Wait to hear the original title the Mountain Avenue gang created for the column- there's no doubt they wanted to paint Heather Stefanson as something she's not, to manipulate voters. 22:09 Part 3 - CDI College under seige, in the Crime Courts and Public Safety commentary. We take this personally as our first live remotes on Kick-FM were from their campus at Graham and Main. Reports are that international students from a religious college leasing space inside CDI were the 4 mugged we described last week. Hear of the threats and racist abuse the students endure, the pattern of violence south of Portage and Main, and how this can undermine an iconic nearby burger stand and other area enterprises. People petrified to take the bus, daily machete attacks; 13 year olds pepper-spraying folks for shits and giggles put back on the streets. Welcome to Winnipeg. This unchecked wave of violence, within blocks of the cop shop, is destroying downtown and is Brian Bowman's legacy. It's so bad, the cops can't keep their story straight whether more people downtown post-pandemic makes it safer, or make it worse by increasing the supply of victims. While federal revolving-door crime laws release violent derelicts almost immediately to harm more victims, City Hall says 'soon the work will start' on planning meetings that will no doubt be too little, too late. ***** The TGCTS podcast is doing our part to get this city back on its feet - we are a voice for businesses, transit users, students and seniors who feel abandoned by the courts, the cops and by City Hall. In Episode 4 of Season 2, we cover civic, provincial and even some federal issues in three scintillating segments: Marty updates last week's popular recap of the PC caucus turnover. Insider info he got further dispells the 'abandoning ship' narrative of the media. Listen for a few more points about Premier Stefanson's health, and about her reshuffling senior staff positions. The Free Press slanted the story right from the get-go, and along with the rest of the MSM didn't even try to ask questions about the winner of the shuffle. 10.20 You'll want to hear the information Marty dug up about the new Clerk of the Executive Council, Kathryn Gerrard. While the media might tell you she's “the head of the civil service", they don't tell you what Kathie was doing 10 years ago. It makes her path to becoming the person "in charge of making sure the government runs, no matter what, 24-7" seem rather unusual. He also explains why her resume also makes her previous ascension to Deputy Minister, responsible for mental health, homeless and addictions files, hard to explain, and ponders her supposed 'success' in that role. 17.25 - Part 2 - Last week Spirited Kenny nailed the lazy media reporting of the anti-car lobby project to lower speed limits in Winnipeg. Did jargon-y civic reports - a Brian Bowman legacy - actually bolster their campaign? One councilor is against incomprehensible administration reports, but spearheaded the 30K car-crawl idea. If that's the case, we try to figure out was Coun. Lukes for it, before she was against it? What did councilors discuss at their planning retreat in Elkhorn this weekend? Was it how a teenager heading to class was outrageously tossed off a Route 19 bus when she couldn't top up her $3.10 fare ticket with another 5 cents? We have the details. 35.35 Kenny picks apart 3 TV newsroom reports about Councilor Sherri Rollins deciding to seek a federal Liberal nomination to replace the late Jim Carr. He reviews the more likely reasons than the 3 different explanations the 'professionals' ran with, and compares the facts to the media spin. Her past political donations weren't reported in MSM - but we do. Hear why Kenny and Marty both believe Mayor Gillingham has to rethink the conflict of interest of any councilor serving on EPC while actively eyeing federal office. 1.03.27 - Part 3 - After a throwback audio break, the Crime Report: - An attempted 6 AM dognapping near U of W has cops looking for 2 women with bear spray, who ate a knuckle sandwich instead. - More bear spray near Polo Park! We ask which adults are held responsible, since both shoplifters resisting arrest that afternoon are way under 18. - A startling report on violence in Manitoba helps explain why youth violence and criminal behavior is exploding - hear the words of a former gang member now educating kids: "I wanted to emulate some of the people I saw doing these things." Manitoba has the highest violence rate of any Canadian province. We share the numbers which prove males in our province are 2x more likely to be a victim of assault compared to the Canadian average. Wait till you hear how bad it is in the north. 1.20.00: A surprise for Kenny! At the end of the show, he learns his 'favorite' Free Press newspaper typist has left the Mountain Avenue mausoleum. He adds some colourful comments. We agree with the departing message of their final column - support local journalism - just NOT the Trudeau-funded kind. Marty adds some personal comments about the Speaker from C'wood. 15:10 The whispers about the health of Premier Heather Stefanson - what if she also decides not to contest the 2023 election? How might the overall turnover affect the campaign strategy, that will surely focus on NDP leader Wab Kinew and unresolved issues from his tumultuous past? 21:00 The Manitoba LIberals will have a tough task to find votes. As Kenny points out - "I don't think how someone gets to the Osborne Safeway should really matter when it comes to how they run this city." Kenny explains why community watch programs are a great idea. 32:00 What's old is new again- the Integrated Warrant Unit was resurrected by the Province to help police keep Winnipeggers safe- so of course the Marxist radicals shrieked "racism!". We swing into the crime headlines, which illustrate that whether it's a block from the downtown cop shop (knifer in the library) or 2 blocks from City Hall (shooting that set a new record for homicides at 45), some warrant and other enforcement just might do some good. We also noticed something about 2 other recent murders the media didn't. And hear how many MORE murders would have been registered without modern trauma treatments rendered on-site. 50:00 Why don't people trust MSM? Look no further than CBC and CTV. Whose side are they on? Not reporting the details of a vile violent sexual assault and robbery of a 20 year old at a Pembina transit shelter on Friday night, and especially censoring the full description of the knife-wielding rapist, is a clue. Hear how the suspect was apparently complained about in the hours before the attack, and what Winnipeg mothers say about how unsafe Winnipeg Transit and the BRT line is. Winnipeg newsrooms actively obstruct public safety lest the wokesters bellow "racist!" at them. 58:08 A (nowadays) rare foray for us into provincial affairs - Wab Kinew and his NDP caucus have a problem with English proficiency standards being expected of nurses. 5:00 We note the passing of 'climate crisis' debunker Dr. Tim Ball, who supported us on Kick-Fm and Shaw-TV. Here is one of his excellent videos. 11:30 The flyer of St. Boniface candidate Marcel Boille makes some important points about how St. B has lost out by joining Unicity and watching their tax dollars go to "Winnipeg" and got nothing in return except for spiraling crime rates and deteriorating services. He touts separation but Spirited Kenny doesn't think it's very realistic (Headingley anyone?) 22:00 Glen Murray claims the city has gone to shit and only he can fix it, BUT he always A) leaves out the responsibility of Mayor Brian Bowman and B) never mentions that the first thing he did when he retruned to the city in 2018 was to... endorse Brian Bowman. Listen to Bowman's hint why Murray won't dare speak truth to power at City Hall. 25:40 Glen Murray tried to guilt Winnipeggers into picking up the tab to restore Thunderbird House. we tell the truth about why it failed - a $40k air conditioner it didn't need and irresponsible governance. Meanwhile Robbie Ouellette says he'd move the Mayor's office there. 37:00 - The media loves to tell about how *certain* politicians endured childhood poverty and family struggles, but the Free Press proves that it isn't only the kind of 'disadvantaged' folks usually promoted. Hear of 2 unexpected tales of mayoral hopefuls who overcame the odds to build successful careers, Kevin Klein (who spent time in a Sally Ann shelter) in corporate media, and Jenny Motkaluk - who went to University at age 16 and earned advanced science degrees before her successful careers in sales and business consulting. 47:25 - CBC has a list of Mayoral campaign planks and a discussion about how complete/accurate it is. For instance the Motkaluk housing plan had a 'help the homeless' component CBC missed, but she is way ahead in Arts and Culture proposals; meanwhile the Scott Gillingham camp was satisfied overall but added a few notes we pass along. 52:00 - RFO's transit ideas - like a buck a ride and allowing tap payment - get a good/sceptical look, as does Klein's 'trailers for the homeless' concept. We go over the CBC investigative report on Glen Murray's departure from the Pembina Institute which Marty also discussed here. Was this Murray's "Principal Skinner" moment? Tom Brodbeck rejected his apology and Kenny remarked "It's the same old Glen no matter where he goes." We then recap the Motkaluk promises to fudn the Sanat Claus parade and other events like Cruise Nites to build civic spirit. 1:10:50 - Part 2 Crime, crime and more crime - and 2 more murders. Marty thinks this election may lead to a serious discussion of the concept of Unicity as a whole.

Another mid-week edition focuses on a Mayoral candidate who speaks from the inner city, Don Woodstock. He held a press conference on Wednesday, challenging Glen Murray to sign a Winnipeg Mayoral Service Agreement promising to serve the full term - unlike his last whirl in the Mayor's chair - if elected Mayor on October 26. 3.10 Don Woodstock told the media: "Glen Murray is a habitual quiitter and Winnipeg should not trust him." Reviewing the chronological history of Murray repeatedly getting elected and walking out before the end of his term, Woodstock reminds that the 2004 byelection cost Winnipeg taxpayers $2M. He questions why Murray left public life in 2018 for a 'dream job' at the Pembina Institute, but quit soon after. Hear how he thinks Murray might again be lured away from City Hall. "Who leaves their dream job less than a year in? Because, Glen Murray is a habitual quitter... he quit on the people of 3 cities - Winnipeg, Toronto and Calgary." 6.20 Marty explains the history behind Woodstock's talking points about Murray's career moves. He gives some background on the Caledon land development controversy that Murray inexplicably waded into, then asks Woodstock about it. 11.20 Woodstock takes off the gloves, rejecting Murray's different explanations for his apparent intimidation (as a cabinet minister) of Ontario mayor Marolyn Morrison in 2014 to help a housing developer. "We've had our fair share of that kind of politics. Winnipegers, we should be sick and tired of it by now (and) guard ourselves from anybody who is affiliated with that kind of politics. That kind of politics have no kind of business in our city hall." 12.23 Marty details the criminal activity that victimized Morrison for opposing a developer who Murray was supporting. He believes Winnipeg is wiser and more cynical towards corruption in City Hall nowadays - and asks Woodstock about endorsements from the likes of Gail Asper. 16.40 Woodstock identifies the choice for voters: he asserts that Mayoral hopeful Coun. Scott Gillingham and both Gail Asper and Glen Murray represent "that same old big old boys club... that think they have a right to this city. They think they own us all and they turn their nose up at us." 17.47 Marty explores how Woodstock sees this race by going back to the 80's: His mentor Yoram Hamizarachi saw how 'blue ribbon panels' of elitists did anything to maintain their hold on Winnipeg. Woodstock says it hasn't changed and that's why Asper et al don't take responsibilty after they endorsed Brian Bowman 4 years ago -- yet now claim the city is dangerous and decrepit! 22.47 Woodstock explained he wasn't a "status jumper" - the difference between his previous runs for public office and Murray's. "He went for greener pastures, why? because he's a habitual quitter... which company you know, small or large, would hire somebody with Glen Murray's track record for quitting? Which one. Tell me. The answer is none." 24.15 The final segment recaps Woodstock's theme: a career politician like Glen Murray is the candidate of the elite and an old boys club, who admire his upward mobility. But Marty wonders if the "down on earth where there's needles on the boulevard" people of Winnipeg value loyalty and integrity more. TGCTS is the only place to hear extended audio! Oh my gosh. We are live people are doing it. Right? Yes. Good. Good. Good, good, good. Welcome everybody to the table. Deirdre TshienCo-Founder and CEO of capture. Now ca ke sh o because I know with my accent it sounds like capture. Mischa ZvegintzovYes, yes. But Deirdre Tshienthat's my Aussie accent ca, ca P sh ERT capture. Mischa ZvegintzovFantastic. And DJ helps podcasters monetize their content. Yeah. Which can be a challenge. Deirdre TshienTotally, because like, you know, a lot of us, especially as business owners, we started podcast because we're kind of here or we're told that it's a great way to generate leads or get people get authority, create visibility, all of that, and it doesn't happen. And we're left wondering, or know what we're doing this thing. We're creating all this content. But now what do we do that? So that's when we come in? And we help with Mischa Zvegintzovthat? Yeah, fantastic. And you've got a whole little software platform that automates a bunch of eggs and creates exposure and all sorts of fun stuff. Yeah. Fun thing to know about Deidre. She has four podcasts for four. So tell me, you've created four podcasts for anybody out here watching people are watching right now. They have some level of success with their business. They know they want to start a podcast, give me some tips give me like the top two or three things that come to your mind for that fledgling podcaster? Deirdre TshienYes, so the first one, I think that I checked that took me out to begin with was like, you just got to stop. I think a lot of us get hung up on the perfection. You know, it has to have a really well produced intro and really well, just accurate, and it has to have like, quality sound. You know what, no one cares about that stuff. When you're just getting started. You just want to start getting out there and getting it like getting known for what it is that you do. So that's really my first thing is like don't even worry about all that stuff to begin with. Yeah, just get started. And then you'll learn stuff, and then you're tweaking it. You're iterating you'll improve it. And that's that's what we're Mischa Zvegintzovas well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's the best thing. Okay. And then, yeah, we just want to say one thing. Yeah, I think that's the whole bit of finding your voice in podcast land, writing, the only way to do it is to get out. Deirdre TshienI can tell you like, the first ever, ever podcast that we started, which actually falls into a statistic that you always, you always talk about, is it was back in 2000. It actually, we started our first ever podcast, and it's actually live. It's actually on iTunes. Yeah, but we only ever released two episodes. Mischa ZvegintzovYeah, so the statistic is this, seven out of 10. Seven out of 10 podcasts. Do not make it past 10 episodes. Yes. That's pretty heavy. That's pretty intense, I think. But so you made it to, we made Deirdre Tshienthis. But I think the thing was that at the time, we did the thing where we were like, Okay, we just kind of want to get started. But the the flip side to that of jumping started is we didn't know who we were talking to, we didn't know exactly what we're talking about. And I think that's where we must do with it. So that I think is really the second thing I was saying is like, obviously you want to get started. But second thing is that you kind of have to know what you're talking about and who you're talking to. Those are incredibly important. Because without that, not only will you lose juice, alright, because you don't really have like a theme. You don't really have a path that you're following. But I think very quickly your listeners might be unless you're incredibly entertaining. Yes. But other than that, you might be like, I don't really know what I'm tuning in for us. Yeah, Mischa Zvegintzovyeah. We just saw our coach dance who we love. Oh, yeah, right. You might be listening, right? But Vince, Vince likes to tell me, Misha, your charm is not a product. So that might help you sell. But it's not a dance. So if you're listening. Deirdre TshienYeah, so that would be Yeah. So you got to know your niche. You got to know who you're talking to. Sorry. Get started. Just get to know your nation we're talking to Yeah, that thing is like, actually marketing. Actually got to get the podcast out there. Because it's one thing to start it and it's great. It's great. If you're all you're doing is just trying to like, create content and just know find your voice and just know what it doesn't want to talk about. But if you want to actually make it a thing and generate leads from it. Yes, you're gonna have to actually promote. Mischa ZvegintzovThat's a great point. Tell me do you think there's a best time to start marketing? Or do you think you know what you're starting to parse podcast get used to marketing? Deirdre Tshien100% Yeah, you just have to I mean, this is and this this thing that we're in right now in mastermind paradise that Russell Brunson, who Click Funnels is putting on. And he always says that as a business owner, you're actually not a business owner or an entrepreneur, you're a marketer. Right? Like, you are a marketer. So that's, I think that's across everything. So especially we're talking about podcasting. You want to just get used to marketing it. But honestly, young business, you just got it underlined. Mischa ZvegintzovAs, as for somebody who's new with their podcast, what would you say is the best like one or two or three tips on how to market like how to how to bring and start bringing your podcast to the audience? Deirdre TshienYeah, so the first thing is like, you want to be as efficient as possible, smart with our time. Now, I say that. And a lot of people are like, Oh, yeah. Repurpose repurpose, which is totally Yes. But I'm also a big believer in using the platform's for what they are intended to be used for. So if you if we repurpose, which I'm a big...I'm actually a big fan of repurposing the concept or the theme, not necessarily the actual THING. Mischa ZvegintzovYeah, right. In other words, we record this don't necessarily repackage this recording, but take the concepts and the thoughts and what we're talking about, and maybe create something written for it.  In other ways, and other creatives and other graphics. And, you know, obviously, if you're on Instagram reels is a big thing. So creating reels that are specific, you know, things are specific to that platform that work for that platform.  There's no point in creating content for content sake as well, right? That's the other thing. You want it to get visibility.  You want it to get out there. So you want to be really quick as what actually plays on that platform, like surgically, what works. And then you want to create the content for that. But the great thing is, when you have a podcast, you've already spoken on content, right? You've already spoken about the things you've already done, brain dump all your thoughts out, you read, you know, certainly just use those those, you know, thoughts and hoping that you've spoken that and just repurpose that not just the video or not just the audio? Mischa ZvegintzovYes, that makes sense. Yeah, no, it makes it makes total sense, I think. Take your long form content that you've created, and get ready to repurpose it, but repurpose it towards the platform you're going to so if it is reels, then maybe pull that real clip out. Or if it's blog, land use, maybe summarize, Deirdre Tshieneven so what we're doing for reals. And what we're going to be testing is we're going to use the audio, like to pick up an audio, but we're actually going to use different visual. So it's not like a visual bias, it'll be something completely different. Where the audio is just Mischa Zvegintzovis the the word. Right? Right. Right. Right. So if we pulled out a key moment of this clip, we would take the audio, but then then we've got a different visual aspect behind it that maybe tells the story in a different way or pulls the Deirdre Tshienfunny because we as I said, we're just testing it. But the first test that we did, actually last night, I think someone was like, did someone mentioned Steve, Christine was someone was like, Oh, I saw that video, that reel that you did in in Central Park or was like on our like in New York, obviously. And she's based in New York, based in New York. And, and it was actually that was one where I had taken some really short footage of me walking in Central Park, and we overlaid, so we use that as an overlay for audio. And that clearly made an impression because someone actually mentioned that to me yesterday to be like, oh, yeah, I saw that. I saw that. You were talking about where we were I live in Norway. Yeah. And so. But as I said, it has to work. Mischa ZvegintzovYeah. I love that I've been my brain has been going there too. As I've started repurposing a lot of my videos and things. I'm like, I want to expand, I want to start doing that, that overlay or that? I don't know if he would call it that in the overlay with a different vision. And yeah, so I love that thought. So where were we here? I still totally lost track. Marketing. Yes. So repurposing. Deirdre TshienYes. Okay, so and then really a hack. I think that you know, that definitely, we and we can definitely go into detail about this is something called Content hacking. So, to that point of knowing what it is that you want to how to how to use that platform in the right way. We use this trick called Content hacking, and it works on any platform that you're on. So we do tick tock, we do it on Instagram, you know, whatever you want. Be on content, which is find, find purse, creatives, whatever, like content essentially, on that platform that's working, and not just working in terms of like, Oh, it's this really random viral video because it's someone dancing, something not like that in that sense, but like, it's working for the audience that you're actually telling. That's the, that's the key to that. So that's why I'm like, I'm not just a believer of like, oh, I want viral content. It's like, yeah, you want to create viral content, but you want to create viral content for your that actually, that your audience that works for your audience. So that's, that's a trick of content hacking. So that's a really great way to see, you know, what is working for my audience? And how can I then use that as inspiration for my own content, which may very well be based on audio that you've recorded? Or concepts or things or the stories or the tips that you have come out from Ukraine as long form content? What is it you can take from that and use for these pieces of content out of these posts that your content? Mischa ZvegintzovYeah. Does that make sense? It makes total. I'm like, I'm talking as my brains going. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. No, it made total sense. I, I love the point too, as well. Don't just hack the cool dance, but find, find the Gary Vee clip where he's speaking to your audience and say, yeah, that's, I want to model that or, or you find a random piece of content that speaking to your audience. And you can say, Yeah, model that right now. Just Dance for dancing sake. Yeah, Deirdre Tshienexactly. Exactly. And that's, that's the really cool thing is like, because I see a lot on social media for podcasts is that they tend to just do trailers. Yeah, like, and it's like, cool episode dropped off set about to drop off. It's just dropped. And it's kind of like a pretty generic caption and things of that, which I get, because that's kind of the and I call it that. And I don't mean that people are lazy. But if I could just call the lazy way. Yes, you have content. And you just, you're trying to take the shortcut, right? To mitigate it. But that's why I always go back to what was needed. How can you actually be smart? To actually So yeah, if anyone is just doing trailers, please think critically. Mischa ZvegintzovTry to grow past. Love. Yes, we love. Yeah, lots of love. What other Eddie's top of mind tricks come to mind? Yeah, Deirdre TshienI guess the last one, I call it I call it visibility, growth hacking, actually. And this is where again, going back to what is what were all of these platforms created for? Right? This is social media platforms, which means that you want to be social, which as an introvert, by the way. By the way, I say all this from a place of love, genuinely, because I've done all I've done. Mischa ZvegintzovYes, yes, stumbling around, tripping over our feet,  exactly. All the things. And so this was one that I Oh, my gosh, I, when I realized I had stopped doing this, I fought against it. Like myself internally. because I was like, I can't be social. I'm not a social person. I'm not like this and that. But honestly, when I've been so doing it, the difference it has was phenomenal. So what that means is, you want to actually be engaging with your dreamyest buyers. With your audience. Because and the reason why is because we can I always say, do we ever want to leave any of our marketing to chance? Do I ever want to leave it to Mischa Zvegintzovbuy? We don't? And that's, especially if we're paying for somebody, right?  That's kind of what we're doing. When if all we do is post. , which is I get it, there's a lot of effort. But you kind of like putting out into the world and you're hoping you're leaving it to chance, you're hoping that someone's gonna stumble across it, you're leaving a lot to chance that the right people are gonna find you somehow, okay, amongst everything Mischa Zvegintzovelse that's out there, all the noise. Deirdre TshienSo that so the way that I have to think about this is, you know, I'm never I'm not going to leave it to chance or I'm going to want to activate, and then I want to try to get in front of it. And that is, yeah, reaching out. And I don't mean in a spammy way, like DMing. Not none of that. But like actually finding your genius buyers on the platform, engaging with them again, because what happens is that they're like, oh, this person either sent me something, or They complimented me or whatever. Let me check what I wonder what they do. I wonder what they just head over to your profile. You've got an awesome, really awesome buyer. podcast link is there like it's all continents? Right, yeah, so then then naturally going to be like, Okay, well, now I know this person, let me check out what they do what they talk about. And that's when you start creating like trust as well. When they you know, cuz they're gonna, they're gonna start listening to the awesome content that you have. And that's how, Mischa Zvegintzovyeah, so if I'm hearing you, right, you're saying, hey, go find your dreamiest customers or the people that you want to interact with? And like, comment on their stuff, like, great content, or I love this thought. Ethically, absolutely authentic, Deirdre Tshiennot just like, dropping hearts, Mischa Zvegintzovrandomly look for the look for the people that strike a chord with you. And I think too, what's really valuable about that as in my own path with that strategy, is that the upfront work is kind of a lot of work like finding who do I resonate with? Who do I authentically want to interact with? Right? And for me, it's kind of takes a while, right? You know what I mean? It's not like today I wake up, I'm gonna go interact with all these people. And you're like, I don't like a lot of these people, it turns out said with love. Did I did I say that? Right? Deirdre TshienYeah. And that's actually, you know, honestly, the point that I got to where I say anything, I was like, I don't have time. And honestly, like, if you're a busy entrepreneur, you probably shouldn't be doing a lot of this activity. Yeah, to be honest. Like you should I, in all honesty, be Systemising. Yeah, as soon as possible. Because that was the exact same point that I got to where I was like, Oh, my gosh, I am spending like 17 hours a week or something ridiculous. It's just not worth your time. Yeah. And so I've got it down to an art where I only legally spend up to So less than two hours a week in total. For all of my social media activities, and everything else I get, I haven't been paid for. Mischa ZvegintzovAnd we're going to talk about the A's in a minute. So hang in there with us, because we have two things we wanted to talk about was one like, Hey, listen, podcasters are some great tips. And number two, what if you're getting to the point of I'm busy with a lot of stuff, I want to get a VA to help me with this. And before we speak to that, I think I love the idea of two hours. You've got it down to two hours. But my guess is you schedule it, right? Like schedule the interaction with the social media don't. It's not every time I every time I look at my phone, it's like no, Tuesdays at 8am is my half hour time block. For the for the interaction. Deirdre Tshien100% Yeah. So do you want me to break the two hours down? Mischa ZvegintzovAbsolutely. Love it. Oh, my God. Deirdre TshienThis is amazing. Oh, good. Oh, good. Okay, so on Monday, I do 30 minutes with, I have a 30 minute meeting with my VA so that this is actually included. So my interactions with the VA is actually included in this two hours of social media activity. So 30 minutes on Mondays with my VA two and what she does is she does the whole process of content hacking, so she'll go out she'll find inspiration. Short, because she knows my business. Obviously, she'll come up with her own. And she's listening to because we record our podcast, like, like a week in advance. Sure. Yeah. So she'll have heard the scheduled not yet drafted, podcast episode, so she'll know that already. She'll have heard or like the concepts or the chords, the TIF the story, so she already knows all that. Yeah, she content hack. So that's the Crossfield grab, like, posts, videos, everything. And then she will actually come up with like, Okay, this is the inspiration. And this is the concepts Yes. For what we're gonna, we're gonna be talking about, and this is potentially a draft caption as well. Okay. Now the draft caption she gets from capture, because that's what the software does. Yeah, so the software is a little bit like a client put it like a cross between Mad Libs. And generally where you get asked some questions because it's trying to elicit your story. You complete the prompts, and then it takes all of that and creates a bank captions for you. Specifically, short form captions designed for Instagram right now. So that's what that's because I can I do that straight as I record my podcast, so and I do capture a stream that actually accounts for some of my time on social media. And then my VA will pick that up, she'll do the content hacking, she'll see the captions or come out of capture, and she'll propose this is actually due to our personal week, which is crazy and I only I can do that because I have this whole system systemized. Yeah, so she shows me my 12 grid of her proposal. So we'll spend that that 30 minutes going, I'll go Ah, yep, love that. I think we should maybe her with this concept instead on this theme or let's just tweak it this way. So I'll give her my feedback. And then she'll finalize basically a list of things that she needs from me, which might be I need you to record this reel I need to take these images I need you to shoot this video. Like whatever that is. And doing literally like shooting all that takes like 15 Mischa Zvegintzovminutes. That's amazing 15 or 20 minutes to create content Deirdre Tshienlike crazy. So that yeah, and then basically I I spend about 15 minutes like the other mornings engaging, you know, doing like replying to comments, and finding so my VA as well will actually find my trainees buyers again, she knows who they are. She'll go out she'll find them. Mischa ZvegintzovSo I want that I want to I want a VA to find my dream. Yes people to say here's who you need. Exactly. Deirdre TshienSo I just go straight. Mischa ZvegintzovRidiculous. Okay, so yep, Deirdre Tshienso that's some some some of the time and then on Thursdays I do we do another half an hour me in the VA, where she'll actually have created she'll find have finalized all the cuts. So because I've given her the wrong because on Monday after meeting, she's given me a list of the things to create. I've created it I've just given her the raw files. I don't do any editing myself, none of that because she will then have spent time doing that. And then on Thursday, we'll come together and she'll show me the final meals, the final edited image, all that with the captions and sometimes if there's any grammatical things or whatever clean up I'll just quickly go in and you know, not but that's, that's it. That's literally it. Mischa ZvegintzovThat's amazing. That's amazing. Like yeah, it's it's so real quick if you want to see more of what teachers doing and I will at some point, come back to this and put it in the show notes. But tell people what's your Instagram handle so they can see what you're doing? Deirdre TshienDJ shed is the so I have two Instagram handles DV Shan or capture HQ headquarters. Yeah, I couldn't get capture. No. It's always such a bummer when that happens. But yeah, so my my primary is DD Shen D irdr. ETS h i n so that's on Instagram and Tik Tok as well. I am there on YouTube are we're just sort of starting to get that going again. I kind of popped back because I needed to get all this stuff figured out. Well, we're gonna be on this series and Facebook, and Facebook. Mischa ZvegintzovSo Deidre is helping people like you create the system or implement the system that she created. So if somebody wants is like, oh my gosh, Deidre has got light bulbs going off for me. How should they reach you? What's the best way for them to? Deirdre TshienYeah, like, definitely DM me? On any of the socials, email me, I'm DJ at cap show.com You can go to my website, DJ shen.com. Like there's a variety of ways to Mischa Zvegintzovreach out, reach out.  Reach out to me. Yeah. Mischa ZvegintzovIn DM and DMing is fine. Yeah, you will. You'll you'll make content. Great. Let's talk a little bit about the what did we cover everything there? Was there anything? Yeah. Deirdre TshienIn terms of process wise? Yeah. Yeah. That's the highlights on this is something that you thought you had any questions about? Mischa ZvegintzovNo, I think we're good. I'm excited a little bit to talk about the VA piece. Yeah, I think my I was talking to Deidre before and I was like Deidre, you know, my, I don't, how do you engage with the VA to, to, to start that relationship? Or? I can't remember exactly how I framed the question. I was like, what was the first thing you had a VA do for you? That's what Deirdre TshienYes, yes. Wow. Okay. Yeah. So this was a this was a really great question, because I remember. So the way that I got my first VA, she actually reached out, again, organic outreach, she just reached out to me and was like, Hey, this is me. So I am. And this is what I can help with. At that time, I was in the back of my mind to get a VA but it wasn't really like something because I honestly thought that I didn't have enough. I wouldn't have enough work for her. And so because she had reached out to me I was I, because I do reply to DMS. So I was like, Look, I don't know if I have enough work for you. But if you're up for it, let's have a chat. That's zoom call and have a chat about it. So we haven't zoom call, I kind of explained my thinking that I was like, I don't know that I have enough work. But you know, this is maybe what we can start with and it might look like 10 hours a week or five hours a week, or I actually didn't really know. And she was totally she was like, Yeah, let's give it a go. Let's try it and we'll see. And so she actually helped me so the first things because I was running challenges every month actually I was like challenged. So the first thing that we knew that we need help with was all the support for the challenge. So everything from like, letting people into the page groups, and, you know, making sure that all the details are collected, and, you know, getting like welcoming them into the group, you know, checking in the backend with our we use Active Campaign as our, you know, automated email like,  you know, checking that all set up Deirdre Tshienthere and it's all working. All the back end admin stop. Yeah. But, and it was like, and that was awesome. And once I honestly, like once we had that whole, like, the questions in my mind started changing, it wasn't any more like, Oh, what  is it that I can offload on? Deirdre TshienI mean, there was a lot of that, but it was more like, Okay, well, what more now can I don't know? What more can she do Deirdre Tshiento actually add value to this business and to actually grow this business? That's been a game changer for us. Mischa ZvegintzovThat's exciting for me. I'm sort of in that sort of in that space, right? Where you got to take the leap, take the risk, maybe start putting out some feelers out there. Was it you that said, Who was I talking to? They said, Hey, two tips about getting a VA make sure that they are this Joseph if you met Joseph, okay. He said make sure that they ask about you, and not are just telling you about themselves. And that makes sure they're aligned with your vision. Is that 100% Yeah, Deirdre Tshienright now like I so we are VAs are Filipino. And they are, like the most loyal the I literally had a conversation with one of them the other day, and I was like, I almost cried. I think she was like, You have given so much that you basically have someone for life. Like she's like I if as long as as long as you have me like we will. And the great thing is with that is that they understand your business like you know, you don't you don't want to be churning as much as possible. Yeah, develop Mischa Zvegintzovgood long term working relationships, right. So Deirdre Tshienthe best thing about that is that they know your business inside out, they go through everything with you, like the number of iterations and pivots that we've made out between business and the poor, the poor team, they lied, because they don't love change. I'm just gonna prove as a generalization. They don't love change. But I think we just did it to them so much that every time we do it now they're like, Okay, cool. Like, just Yeah, they just taken this dive, and it's them just adapted to how it is that we do business. Yeah. Which is awesome. So yeah, it's like they definitely, definitely, I think they need to know, they need to know you your culture, you have to build the culture. That's important. Mischa ZvegintzovYeah. I love what Alison prince said this morning about, hey, we're entrepreneurs and part of being entrepreneurs is we get to pick who we work with. So work with who you like, work with your friends. And it sounds like you have nurtured that relationship with your VA. It's very powerful. Deirdre TshienSo we have three VAs and love. I mean, they sometimes they frustrate the heck out of me like but that's just natural. Right? Right. There are some times when I'm like, what is happening, like why, you know, but, like, fight like, seriously, I would not for the world like I yeah, I am. So I feel so fortunate that Mischa Zvegintzovyeah, what would you say quick off the cuff top one or two tips for anybody that's like, I think I want to get a VA like what what would be like a good middle, just Deirdre TshienI think that's gonna be the tip or everything inside. If you're ever doubting or thinking about something, Mischa Zvegintzovjust do it, just do it. Because nothing is permanent. Deirdre TshienThis is the thing too. I think this is a thing that we forget,  right? Deirdre TshienLike, we get so caught up in like, mitigating the risks and you know, think about all of the you know, it's not perfect if for whatever reason, it doesn't work out or you kind of wander down the track. That whatever like, that's fine. It's not it's not great. Not ideal, but like it's much better to have tried it and done it and proven it or not proving it yourself. Thank you. And not so good. is gonna be my plan. I Mischa Zvegintzovlove it. I think I Why do we even need to add beautiful. Thank you for that. We're in Mexico right now we're in Cancun area actually south of Cancun hotel excurrent which is an amazing, I'll get us a food right? Deirdre TshienOh my gosh, I just I am blown away because you know, you do tend to maybe like set expectations a little bit lower when you're in a resort. Yeah, but it has been amazing. Mischa ZvegintzovFor lievable Yeah, and help. That'd be the staff I guess. Great and super. Russell, if you're watching or getting to watch this Thank you for hosting this for us bringing us all together we got to hear Pedro Adeo today Pedro you crushed I mean, that panel What else do we get? We got Ollie.  Obviously Allison Yeah. Mischa ZvegintzovWhat's up? Was it Brian who was the numbers guy? Brian Bowman man Brian just I look forward to the day where am I hope he's still with click with the to cc x where I can take advantage of what he brings. Yes, right. Can you just it's so savvy. So do you feel like we missed anything? Is there anything to talk Deirdre Tshienabout this for hours? Honestly, yeah, I think we covered like the main the main things but yeah, I I'm not joking. I could talk about this on the hour. So it may be if anyone wants to hit me up if they want to geek out with me on this stuff. totally happy to Mischa ZvegintzovYeah, fantastic. Thank you and and thank you for so much for playing and doing some co creation and putting ourselves out there and I'm using all the new mic gear for people that have been watching me. Yeah, I've got some tips myself. Great. Fantastic. But thank you everybody for watching. Again, Deidre, go find her on social media. Yes. Deirdre TshienAwesome. Awesome content and just encouraging people.

For Episode 255, April 28, 2019: Eye on Islam... Of course we'll talk about the Islamist attacks in Sri Lanka. Linda "Cockroach" Sarsour was invited to speak in Winnipeg, but the city's mayor Brian Bowman is demanding she be disinvited. The Sadistic Sultan of Brunei defends signing the death penalty by stoning for homosexuality and adultery into law against its European critics, writing that there is a high bar for finding someone guilty. Cuz yeah. That's what the problem is, not that these are considered crimes in the first place. Writing in the Guardian, Owen Jones makes a plea to the Muslim community to band together to fight the far right which threatens The Regressive Left Files... What's this? An American college where students engage in discourse with someone they disagree with? How dare they! After Middlebury College cancelled an event mere hours before Charles Murray was scheduled to speak, one class quietly decided to invite him and engage his ideas. Wow. What a concept! At Sartoga Springs High School parents were up in arms about an assignment wherein students calculated their privilege, as if a single number could sum up anyone's life experiences. Victimhood culture poisons everything, just like religion. Catholic Watch... Easter has come and gone for another year. Pope denounces the "glitter of wealth" in front of giant gold-guilded candle inside of opulent St. Peter's Basilica, designed to project the Church's power and wealth, not to mention the favor of God. No one has ever accused the Vatican of a good sense of self awareness. Meanwhile, non-Roman Catholic catholic churches are on the rise in the US. I wonder why? New Jersey governor Phil Murphy signed a bill into law allowing medical assistance in dying in that state. This despite his Catholic beliefs and the protestations of bishops. Yes, Virginia, it is possible to act in the best interests of all despite one's personal beliefs. A Philadelphia court ruled against the archdiocese who took the city to court over its refusal to renew a contract to place children in foster care. Why? The Catholic Social Services refused even in principle placing foster children with same-sex couples. One question - why the hell is Catholic Social Services a thing? Quack Tracts... The current measles crisis is the worst outbreak in 25 years. Thanks, Obama!
